Table of Contents

Well, well, well. I’ve got one anime for you, and that’s No Game, No Life (in short NGNL).To start, this is like any other typical isekai anime trope, in which the main characters (yes “characters” because there are two of them) are transported to a gaming world. Like any other anime, there is a twist in it or we can call it, a “spice” in this series, which I will be explaining further in this blog.

So, before you start reading, I suggest that you better prepare some snacks and drinks as you go along. Who knows? You might wanna start watching this anime after reading this blog.

The first episode premiered on April 9, 2014 and the anime followed on a weekly schedule until June 25, 2014. This series garnered a lot of attention and has steadily amassed a great number of fans.

Now, if you are wondering, it has been 8 years since the first season was aired. Why is it that there aren’t any announcements for the second season of this anime? Well, to answer that question, there isn’t any official confirmation about the second season for this anime.

Although they launched a movie last 2017, there were a lot of issues that were raised about this anime. One of the main issues was that the author and illustrator of this anime was ‘allegedly’ caught plagiarizing other people’s work. Although this was just a rumor, some fans thought that this might be the one of the reasons as to why there aren’t any updates for the second season.

WHAT IS NO GAME, NO LIFE?

No Game No Life 1

No Game, No Life is a series that will make use of your critical thinking skills in devising your own plan in outwitting your opponent. Not to mention, the main characters’ way of beating their opponent is something to boot!

But that isn’t the best part of this series, the best part of it is how both of the siblings have a deep connection (not the one you’re thinking about) to each other which makes this whole series more interesting and a comedic gold.

A few fun facts about this anime is that it was based on a light novel that has about 11 volumes so far, written and illustrated by Yuu Kamiya. Currently, the No Game, No Life animated series has only one season which consists of 12 Episodes, aired from April to June 2014. There is also a movie called No Game, No Life: Zero that was released last 2017. It is a prequel movie that starts way before the main story, but I won’t be talking much about it to avoid spoilers!

If you are curious about the episode-list of this anime, I’ve provided a table below that you can check out yourself!

What do you think? Do you wanna binge-watch it now? If not, then I will make you watch it. Kidding… maybe not… If you are not convinced yet, then keep on reading it and decide after.

NO GAME, NO LIFE MAIN PLOT

No Game No Life

For the main story, it begins with Sora, the elder brother and Shiro, the younger sister. A step-sibling duo who are renowned gamers called Blank. Both of the siblings are shut-ins, or as what the Japanese culture calls it as “Hikikomori” or “NEET”. They view the world simply as a game.

Now, you might be wondering how and where they got isekai’d. Well, after they receive a message from an unknown sender who challenges them to play a chess game, the Blank-siblings immediately agree. Then they suddenly get transported to another world called Disboard in which they find out who the sender is.

He introduces himself as Tet, who calls himself The One True God in that world. He then explains the rules, which he created, that should be followed in this world. Remember the “spice” I mentioned before?

Well, this is it—the world operates through Ten Pledges and everything that they do will be decided in games (interesting, right? Don’t be shy, go watch it my fellow weeb). With this, the Blank siblings begin their gaming adventure in Disboard.

IS THIS ANIME SERIES WORTH WATCHING?

No Game No Life 1

Now, does the anime finally pique your interest and curiosity on how the story goes? As I mentioned before, there are only 12 Episodes for this series which you can simply watch in one sitting (if you are into binge-watching). Aside from that, the plot is something that you should look forward to.

Not to mention, the graphics and visuals of each character are on point, as well as their back stories on how they came to be as a person. Oh, did I mention how witty of a schemer Sora and Shiro are? I mean, they are an undefeated gaming duo who beat 1200 players by themselves and are said to be an urban legend.

If you want my honest opinion about this anime, as someone who has watched the series and the movie before, I think this series is really worth your time and I seriously recommend it. This is a MUST WATCH anime! It is packed with so much great stuff, to the point that you’ll get more and more curious as you continue watching the next episodes.

Aside from that, you would also be wracking your brain along with the characters when planning a way in winning the game! Honestly, those are what really made me watch this anime in the first place. Overall, this anime is something I can rewatch all the time (which I recently did).

CONCLUSION
