PLOT
Nanami Momozono always had a difficult life. She lived alone with a poor father who completely neglected her, and due to her situation, she wasn’t very popular at school.
Things got worse when her father lost their house and fled on his own leaving his only daughter behind.
With nowhere to go, she made her way to the nearest park and sat on a bench. Soon after, a man that was being attacked by a small dog appeared before her, and she ended up rescuing him from the very dangerous minibeast.
The man sat beside her and for some reason, she felt like she could tell him anything, so she did. She told him the horrible situation she was in as she was ready to burst into tears.
The man listened to her without saying a word. When she was done, he gave her some pieces of advice and told her that she was welcome to stay at his shrine as long as she desired. He then kissed her forehead and disappeared into thin air.
With no other choice but to accept the charity of the strange being, she went to that shrine. In the beginning, she was shocked, it was a rundown place that was surely uninhabited. Still, having a roof over her head was better than nothing so she entered.
She was welcomed by two shrine spirits, two little weird floating fellas. They looked at her and after one glance declared that she was now the new God of their shrine due to the mark left on her forehead by the former God.
It was a lot to take in, but it was even harder for Tomoe, the previous God familiar with it, to fathom.
He was disgusted that his master gave his title to a weak insignificant human, abandoned his home and made his way to the Yokai world.
It was impossible to keep the shrine running without his powers, and Nanami went after him. As she was searching for the beautiful fox, the spirits told her how to form a contract with the demon that would force him to submit to her.
Due to a hilarious turn of events, she managed to land a kiss on the fox’s lips and seal him to her.
Now stuck in a horrifying situation, Tomoe still had a reputation to maintain. He is still one of the most powerful familiars that ever existed. There is no way in hell that he will ever serve a puny God. So, the plan is to make her worthy of his services.
Easy enough to say considering that Nanami is a total Klutz who always acts based on her emotions and barely ever uses her brain.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Kamisama Kiss is an extremely refreshing anime filled with romance and drama with a touch of action and a lot of comedy.
From the beginning to the end, I can guarantee that your smile will never fade from your face as the main characters find themselves in the most awkward and hilarious situations.
As the series goes on, Nanami and Tomoe’s relationship will slowly blossom as each of them tries to get to terms with their difficult pasts. Nanami will also have to learn how to become a real God while Tomoe gets over his disgust towards humans.
The mesmerizing Tomoe, who, at first glance, might look cruel and cold (that’s how we like them really) will turn out to be a kind soul who was always acting in the best interest of his master.
As Tomoe spends more time with the young new God, he will realize that she isn’t the fragile and incompetent little girl he thought she was.
He discovered that she is a strong soul, worthy of being his master and maybe even worthy of becoming his wife someday.
However, those two aren’t the only interesting characters in the series; many more peculiar ones will be introduced as the series goes on.
Each one of them has their own personal problems to deal with, and each one kind of reveals an important moral that will help us grow as individuals.
Plus, the Kamisama Kiss has some of the best artwork recorded in the history of anime. Everything is pleasing to look at, especially the boys…
CONCLUSION
As I have said before, Kamisama Kiss is an awesome anime that will cheer you up during your bad days. However, don’t just take my words for it. Many otaku, like myself, think highly of the series.
Many positive reviews praising this anime series can be found online.
It’s not your typical romance anime, it transcends the usual cliché. As rare and unbelievable as this might sound, even the ending was well taken by most of the watchers.
Kamisama Kiss will be a series that will let you escape from your routine and teach you to appreciate things that are outside of your comfort zone.
Let me finish with a famous proverb that we all know but doesn’t apply enough in my point of view: Never judge a book by its cover.
Appearances can be deceiving, most of the time they are. Try everything and anything before making up your mind, so you never regret anything in your entire life.
Anyways, that is the end of our little Ultimate Filler Guide, although I believe we went a bit sideboard.
