It’s the kind of Comedy Anime that is also filled with action, as well as romance. It’s one of the classics and we absolutely love it!

The anime introduces us to a guy named Hayate who always had to do odd jobs ever since he was a child to support his lazy family. On one Christmas, he found out that his parents had run away because they were under a massive debt. He finds out that they owed this debt to a Yakuza who planned on selling Hayate’s organs or selling him away as a slave in order to settle it. As he spends his days running away from the Yakuzas, Hayate comes across a 13-year-old wealthy girl named Nagi Senzenin who was the sole heir of the Sanzenin Estate. She was with her maid Maria. Initially, Hayate’s plan was to kidnap the girl  and extract some money from her parents but ended up saving her from the actual kidnappers. After that, Nagi hired him as a butler.

Hayate starts his job as a butler and aside from his duties as a butler, he also has to act as a bodyguard for Nagi as her life is always in danger. Nagi also orders him around and he has to obey every order of hers. He doesn’t know about how Nagi feels about him yet. Later, Hayate became the center of attention for several other girls including Ayumu Nishizawa and Hinagiku Katsura. However, there’s also another girl named Athena Tennousu whom Hayate had feelings for.

Nagi decides to cut her ties with her family and forfeit her inheritance. She moves into an old apartment building named the “Violet Mansion” with Hayate and Maria. This building was owned by her late mother and now she rents different rooms to earn something out of it. Now, there are a bunch of tenants that get involved with Hayate and Nagi. 

Days pass and every day is so much fun with the strange tenants. After a while, Nagi decides to claim her money. As Hayate is on a trip to America, he manages to pay off his debt but decides to keep working for Nagi as her butler. He wants to help her reclaim her money as an heir of Sanzenin Estate. Maria decides to resign as Nagi’s maid and Athena manages to regain her full powers. On one Christmas, there’s a misunderstanding and both Nagi and Hayate are exposed. Hayate wanted to protect her from the rivals but Nagi was adamant on taking her right back. However, she surrenders and gives the rights to her cousin, Hisui Hatsushiba and fires Hayate. Two years pass and Nagi meets Hayate at the place they came across each other the first time. That’s when Hayate confesses his feelings for her that despite not being her butler anymore, Hayate would like to stay with her and both walk away hand in hand.
