Hola! For the filler list update of the day, we have one of the most iconic and beautiful romance in anime history—Fruits Basket! If you think otherwise, bruh, who on earth hurt you? And for those who haven’t watched it yet, then, stumbling upon this blog is definitely the sign for you to open another tab of your browser and watch it! I swear I’m quite picky when it comes to romance since I’ve always been more into shounen, action, and thriller, BUT Fruits Basket managed to creep its way to my heart… I don’t know how, but it did.
With its unique storyline, diverse characters, wholesome scenes, tear-jerking drama, and even touches of comedy, there’s no way that this one won’t make it to your Top 10 fave romance anime. It’s a complete package itself! It even has characters that transform into zodiac animals when hugged by the opposite sex—which is weird, but yeah… you’ll get used to it. Just don’t imagine it happening in real life, welp of course… for obvious reasons. Why would you even imagine it in the first place? It would turn out really awkward when you’re in the middle of real-life drama and suddenly one of you transforms into a rat—worst case scenario one of you might literally get a heart attack. How would a rat carry a person all the way to a hospital?
Table of Contents
So far, Fruits Basket currently has 3 seasons. The first and second seasons broke the internet with 25 episodes each in 2019 and 2020, respectively, while the third season swept its fans off their feet with just 13 episodes in 2021. And surprise! Surprise! THERE ARE NO FILLERS IN THIS ANIME, hence you can binge-watch it all you want without any boring parts. But hey, not all fillers are bad tho… or at least that’s what I think.

QUICK RECAP
SEASON 1:
After Tohru’s mother died, she started living in a tent. Yes… a tent, and a very flimsy one at that. Consequently, it only took one bad incident for it to be totally destroyed.
Yuki Sohma, being the kind-hearted guy that he is, along with his cousin Shigure, offered Tohru shelter in exchange for taking care of household chores. Before you start concluding that something’s off, I’m going to clarify that nope, this isn’t that type of anime. Yuki and Shigure are just angelic-level kind and courteous for them to actually offer Tohru some help…or at least that’s what they want us to think. (HAHA! I got you curious right there, didn’t I?)

Eventually, another Sohma entered the picture—our best boy, Kyo. However, his relationship with Yuki is like the relationship between a cat and a rat… well metaphorically and literally. Kyo constantly challenges Yuki in a fight, and it happens that Tohru got caught up in the middle, hence accidentally found out the Sohma family’s secret—they turn into zodiac animals when they feel strong emotions, unwell or they’re hugged by the opposite sex.
As Tohru stays in their household longer, she gets to know and understand the boys better. Later on, she meets more of the Sohma clan and learns that they’re not just the typical family and that each member has a complicated and traumatic past.
SEASON 2:
Tohru has now officially settled with the Sohmas. Thus, they decided to spend their summer holidays at one of the Sohmas properties by the beach.
But we all know that we can’t always be happy. Everything is disrupted when Akito decides to visit the same town and expects everyone to attend to her—well of course except Kyo, we all know how much she despises seeing Kyo. If there’s one good thing about that, it’s that Kyo got to spend more alone time with Tohru—making their bond grow deeper and stronger.

This isn’t the typical beach episode we got used to, where everything is meant to be fun and chill because, despite the setting, the character development still carries on. Tohru’s selfless desire to help everyone to lift the curse still doesn’t falter. Furthermore, Tohru finally meets Kureno in this season.
SEASON 3:
I’m sure y’all also thought that this is a feel-good anime considering how fun the first few episodes of season 1 were. I can imagine clearly how shaken you must be as you slowly realize that it just keeps getting darker as the episodes go by WAHAHA!
If you think you’ve uncovered all the secrets there are, sorry to break it to you but nope, there’s more. The roller coaster ride doesn’t stop yet—well not until the last episode of this season, I guess.

Tohru gets overwhelmed because of all the new information she learned from Kureno and has gone confused about what to do next, and on top of that, Rin is nowhere to be found.
Each episode in this season holds the key to fully understand the entirety of the series all the way from season 1, as well as the in-depth details of the complicated history of the Sohmas.
What's your zodiac?

We all know how good it feels to be hugged especially if we had a bad day or so. Just imagine how the Sohmas were able to survive such agony because they just had to transform. Hence, there’s nothing else that we could assume that they’d do when the curse is lifted other than giving some hugs, right? Ah, I’d leave all my responsibilities for a day in exchange for Kyo’s hug… welp it’s not like their curse is gonna stop me anyway hehee.
Kidding aside, let’s all not forget to be as kind as Tohru. We’ll never really know how the smallest act of kindness can impact a person’s day or life.
Have a great binge-watching ahead! Or if you’re already done watching the entire 3 seasons, well, hello there new bestie ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
See you on my next blog, seeyounara, adios!
