Burn The Witch is an anime based on the manga series of the same name, written and illustrated by Tite Kubo. It was revealed in Shonen Jump on the 16th day of July 2018 that the manga would be a one-shot. However, a month after its debut, it was followed by 4 additional chapters.

The manga was a huge success. Thanks to that, the author decided to keep moving forward and declared that a season 2 is in the making, but the date of its release is yet to be announced.
The 4 chapters introduced earlier got an animated film. It came out on the 2nd day of October 2020.

The Author
Tite Kubo is famous for his participation in the legendary anime “Bleach“. After the last chapter of that masterpiece was written and released, the first job he took on was “Burn The Witch”.
He was deeply inspired by his previous work since the new series will unfold in the same universe as Bleach but in a different timeline.
The Quincy War came to a conclusion 12 years ago, and the events that happened in chapter 686 are now 2 years in the past.
We will be following the adventures of two Witches currently employed by the Western Branch of Soul Society, which is found in Reverse London.
Plot
The two main characters of Burn The Witch are Noel Niihashi and Ninny Spangcole. The Soul Society they are working for is a peculiar one since it’s inhabited by Dragons. Of course, its existence has been hidden from the human world. It’s one of the most graded secrets of the soul reapers.
Characters
Noel Niihashi
She’s one of the two protagonists of the anime/manga Burn The Witch. Personality-wise, Noel is a patient and rational high school student, and she has zero sense of humor.
She is presently working under Wing Bind in the Pipers division as a Witch. Her task is simple, she has to preserve and harvest Dragons.
It’s a peaceful job away from the battlefield and the danger. It’s a job that she enjoys, even though she is perfectly capable of engaging in combat.
Her magic skills are far from average, she can deal with multiple Dragons all by herself without breaking a sweat. So in the end, she can easily switch to the Sabres combat division, but she chooses not to.
Ninny Spangcole
She is the second main protagonist of the series. Very different from Noel, Ninny is an unpredictable individual with a huge ego.
She is a pop singer and one of Noel’s coworkers, a “Piper”. Compared to Noel, she harbors grand ambitions that she dreams of fulfilling.
All she desires is to prove her worth and her strength to someday become a member of the Sabres combat division.
Because she mostly acts up based on her emotions, she tends to put logic aside and ends up in catastrophic situations. To stand out, she once engaged in a battle against a Dark Dragon who went on a rampage.
Kind of a brute, she hides a soft side that she only reveals to her co-singer Macy Baljure.
Balgo Parks
Balgo started off as a mundane human, ignorant of the supernatural. He turned into a Dragonclad after sharing a house with a “Disguiser” who was possessing the dead corpse of one of his friends, called Shelby.
After ten long years, he didn’t suspect anything until the monster ended up biting him. That one bite deeply changed him. Not only could he now see Dragons, but he was also attracting them to him. An ability that he, of course, can’t switch off.
Personality-wise, the guy is kind of a pervert with a huge crush on Noel. He doesn’t even feel bad for flirting with her nonstop and bothering her to madness. Other than his love interest, he is super attached to his dog whom he named Osushi.
He may have a bad side, however, he will stop at nothing to protect innocent people. He isn’t searching for recognition or anything, he is just doing what he feels is right.
Osushi
Osushi is Balgo’s dog. You might not think this is your typical dog because he is a Dark Dragon who has taken over the body of a dog.
He lives with his owner for approximately two months, hiding his true identity from him. He was busted when he accidentally returned to his original form when Balgo ventured into a Wing Bind Phone Gate.
He was supposed to be disposed of by Wing Bind. However, when he managed to turn back into a dog, he was spared and even returned to Balgo’s side to live with him but this time it was in Reverse London.
He is still a bit of a pain since he sometimes goes berserk for a certain reason that will be revealed later in the anime. I can just tell you it directly concerns Balgo.
Billy Banx Jr.
He is the supervisor of the Wing Bind. He is like a big boss for our two protagonists Noel and Ninny. Although a commander, the guy is quite laid-back, extremely friendly, and always cheerful.
The highlight of his day is when he lashes out teasing Ninny to his heart’s contempt. He became a temporary member of the Sabres, which happened soon after the two protagonists defeated Shelby. He was kicked out because he was way too lazy for the job.
However, don’t take a wrong impression of Billy, despite all his bad qualities, he really does take any task or mission pretty seriously but only when necessary. If his home and its residents are in any danger, he will always be the first to step in to help.
Summary
In a nutshell, in this series, you will follow the two main protagonists as they try to deal with different types of Dragons while meeting tons of unique people in Reverse London and Front London.
While each of them has their very own goal, the two girls will support each other through all situations and create a bond never seen before.
Conclusion
As you can see, this short series is still at its beginning. It looks very promising, both in terms of plot and character development. If you have seen Bleach, you already know that we had top-notch artwork awaiting us!
The anime is still filler-free, however, I personally would love to see what they can come up with to enrich the story and definitely hope that it won’t end here.
