Chapter 201 – The King of Demons
After being defeated in Chapter 199, Chapter 201 starts off with Muzan thinking deeply as to how death has always been so near to him. He even recalled how his heart stopped beating many times inside his mother’s womb. He had died and was about to be cremated, however, he started rolling around and cried a lot too. Thus, his life was spared.
Looking back, he is relieved that he’s finally where he wants to be. Muzan thought deeply about what his master had said was correct, looking back on Kagaya Ubuyashiki. His master stated that the living must die but those feelings we had are eternal. It’s that moment when Muzan realizes that he doesn’t remember any single human being that he killed but their feelings stayed alive even after conquering them.
He started weeping thinking about this. Then he gives up on his fate and says that his own feelings are eternal and will never die. Just like that, he gives his hand to Tanjiro Kamado who was with him and who stayed alive.
Muzan gave all of his blood to Tanjiro and said if he survives, he is going to be the strongest Demon ever! And this was all thanks to Nezuko. Nezuko was the first ever demon to be immune to sunlight. Tanjiro would be the strongest demon because he’s able to use the breath style of Yoruichi Tsugikuni. As Muzan is slowly dying or disintegrating, he tells Tanjiro to kill all the Demon Slayer Corps in his place.
Giyu Tomioka sits down on his knees in front of Tanjiro and Kakushi starts weeping. One of them cracks in shock after knowing that Tanjiro has a demonic gaze now. To everyone’s surprise, Tanjiro restores his left arm and tries to harm Kakushi. Since Giyu was present, he saves Kakushi by pushing him away.
Kakushi got extremely fearful and asked Tanjiro why he was acting this way. Tanjiro stands up and starts drooling, it’s as if he was enjoying having new claws and fangs. The demon mark of Tanjiro starts to mutate and it spreads to the tip of his nose. As Tanjiro slowly turns into a demon, many marks start to spread all over his body. A mark on Tanjiro’s neck resembles Kokushibo’s mark.
Giyu runs forwards and tells Kakushi to stay away from Tanjiro. Instantly, the sun starts shining very bright and Tanjiro looks at it. Doing so, he begins to burn and rolls on the ground. Just like that, Kakushi doesn’t stay as his target anymore. As Giyu approaches Kakushi and tells him to run away, he yells and asks for anyone who’s still alive to get up and fight.
Everyone else lying afar looks at Giyu with confusion, unaware of Tanjiro’s fate. Giyu shouts and tells everyone that he has become a demon. He asks for everyone’s help to pin Tanjiro down and let him burn in the bright sun before he starts killing everyone.
Tanjiro doesn’t lose hope, he finds to sit in shade and attempts to save himself. However, Giyu stabs him and drags him all the way to the ground. Giyu thinks to himself that if it wasn’t for the sun, Kakushi could have died. At that time, Giyu starts to beg Tanjiro to stay the way he has always been and to not become an evil demon.
Suddenly, Tanjiro’s burning stops and Giyu becomes shocked! At last, Giyu gets attacked by Tanjiro and gets dizzy from all the blood loss.
Inosuke appears and tries to remind Tanjiro that Giyu is their friend. Just like that, Zenitsu comes too! As Tanjiro sits down, another Demon Slayer Mark appears from the other side of his head. Tanjiro shows his fangs to Inosuke who’s standing still thinking about what has happened to Tanjiro! On the other hand, Zenitsu tries to make Tanjiro understand that everyone is tired and unable to fight. He also mentions Nezuko.
But Tanjiro had other plans. Just like that, he approaches Inosuke. The two of them fight and Inosuke says that both of them are comrades who’d always get each others’ backs. If one of them starts going to the wrong path, the other one will always lead them to the right one! Zenitsu gets tired of everything and yells asking Tanjiro to stop. Suddenly, Inosuke gets reminded of an old memory where he was being offered a fish by Tanjiro. As a result, he becomes unable to attack Tanjiro! That’s where the chapter ends. So, yes Tanjiro is temporarily a demon. We have no idea if he will become a human. But he will since he’s the main character in the anime! What do you guys think? Will Tanjiro be able to take back his human form? Or will he harm the people he loves? To find out, read Demon Slayer Manga!
This chapter is one of the most exciting chapters of the anime! You will get emotional too!
And the good news is that Tanjiro eventually gets cured due to Nezuko calling her brother while he was surrounded by the Wisteria flowers. Muzan tried his best to convince Tanjiro thus he was cured and wanted to apologize to everyone for hurting them!
