The first episode of a series is always the most important one. It has the crucial task of getting you hooked and asking for more. We can all agree that “Cruelty” fulfilled this role perfectly. The death of an entire family, one survivor turned into a deadly monster, a brother who came back to a horrific traumatizing sight. His anchor to sanity is his breathing little sister that a Demon Slayer, and a Hashira no less, is now trying to kill.

At the last second, a miracle happened. A starving demon resisted her thirst for blood in order to protect her loved one. A demon was born free from Muzan’s influence and kept all her senses. Seeing hope in the two siblings, the Hashira spared Nezuko’s life and even sent Tanjiro to train under his former teacher to become a Demon Slayer himself.

With one ultimate goal in mind, Tanjiro set on a perilous journey to turn his sister back to normal. And if he can claim Muzan’s head on the road, he won’t miss to do so.

The “Final Selection” was one hell of a satisfying episode! We all grew to love Sakonji Urokodaki in the anime. His affection towards Tanjiro and Nezuko was something that touched us deep inside our hearts.

So, seeing him feeling so guilty and terrified to send his students to the Demon Slayer Exam really affected us a lot. He was the one who captured the Hand Demon and made him one of the obstacles in the exam. In return, the demon specifically targeted his pupils to exact his revenge.

Sabito and Makomo were his latest victims and he killed them in a very painful and gruesome way. When Tanjiro learned of his deeds, a wave of overwhelming anger lit inside of him. During an intense, awesome battle, he managed to decapitate the monster and returned to his teacher and sister victorious. Upon his arrival, Sakonji, overjoyed, ran to him and hugged him and his sister with all his strength. That specific scene was one of the most touching of all the seasons.

Two cool things actually happened in that episode:

After a long and difficult fight, Tanjiro finally manages to defeat the former Lower Moon Six, Kyogai, and save the children trapped inside. However, the real highlight of the episode goes to Zenitsu. Inosuke, who had just made his entrance when the mission in the Tsuzumi Mansion began, sensed the presence of a Demon (Nezuko), inside the box that Tanjiro left in the care of the siblings.

Hell-bent on killing it, the one who stopped him, while awake, was unexpectedly Zenitsu. A rule exists among Demon Slayers, they can never, in any circumstance, harm one another, and yet the wild boar almost killed the not-so-cowardly warrior while trying to destroy the box.

Zenitsu showed amazing courage. He didn’t throw one punch and just kept on protecting a box left by a man he had just met because he felt that there was something important to him inside. A deed that will be rewarded at the very end of the series.

Although he is the main antagonist, the Hashiras never laid eyes on him before and yet the newbie accompanied by a demon managed to do so.

Because Muzan’s scent was left all over his family’s bodies, Tanjiro possessed the only way to locate him. By pure chance, he picked up his scent, followed it and there was the one and only Kibutsuji Muzan, the King of Demons, in the flesh, in front of him.

The bastard was hiding in plain sight, living among humans, the very creatures he despises. It was one hell of a moment when he realized that he was discovered and then acknowledged Tanjiro as a threat.

Right after their encounter, he even put a bounty on Tanjiro’s head.

Let’s get real, there is nothing more exciting than an ability reveal! And how shocking, the one who we thought was useless is actually pretty strong. Who would’ve thought that Zenitsu was more powerful than Inosuke?!

He fainted because he was terrified, and I’m sure the kid who was with him thought he was done for. However, with lightning speed, he claimed the Demons head. Turned out that Zenitsu is a user of the Thunder Breathing technique, plus he has an inhumane sense of hearing.

Speed mixed with the power to detect every enemy from miles away makes him a Nakama that you can entrust your back to. But just when he is asleep, otherwise he’d be long gone the second danger appears.

Season 3 Episode 9: Defeating An Upper-Rank Demon continues the jaw-dropping battle between Zenitsu, Inosuke, Tanjiro, and Uzui against Daki and Gyutaro. Both Zenitsu and Inosuke were definitely popping off against Daki but it seemed like Uzui and Tanjiro were having a bit of trouble against Gyutaro. Tanjiro also unlocked a new combo where he simultaneously used Sun Breathing and Water Breathing Techniques in one go.

There was definitely emotion in this episode but not as great or impactful compared to the next scenes. Plot was very basic since it was merely a fight continuation but boy oh boy, the animation still slapped! It’s just a great episode.

Kimetsu No Yaiba had a lot of emotional episodes and this one deserves praise. Afraid to send him to the Demon Slayer Exam to get killed, Urokodaki gave Tanjiro a test that he thought would be impossible for him to clear.

He was despairing, thinking it was the end of the line for him when the souls of Sabito and Makoto came to his aid.

Of course, at the time, he didn’t know his two new friends were already dead. Sabito became his sparring partner and pushed him to break his limits while Makoto guided him both physically and emotionally.

Their last battle began, Tanjiro who never won against Sabito yet was dealing the winning strike. However, instead of the boy it was the boulder, the test, that he cut in half, making him eligible to participate in the exam.

Season 3 Episode 6 was one of the most surprising episodes in Demon Slayer and gave the spotlight to Nezuko who finally awakened as a Demon. Tanjiro battles Daki 1 on 1, and while that goes on, Tanjiro uses Talk no Jutsu which made Daki angrier because she saw that Tanjiro and Muzan had some resemblances when talking to her.

As Tanjiro lay weak on the ground, Daki was about to finish him off when finally, the moment we’ve been waiting for, Nezuko popped up out of nowhere and saved her brother. Nezuko transforms into an adult version of herself with horns and easily beats Daki. There was also a bonus scene where Yoriichi Tsugikuni appeared in a short flashback.

The first flashback of this recommendation list. Here we are back on Natagumo Mountain where the Lower Five of the Twelve Kizuki, Rui, has just been decapitated by Giyu, the Water Hashira.

Tanjiro, who’s very different from other Demon Slayers, doesn’t see demons as just monsters. He acknowledges that they were once humans with emotions just like him. That’s most probably because his sister was turned into one.

As he was sending off Rui during his last moments when he saw glimpses of his memories, from his time as a human. A heartbreaking story of a kid born with an incurable disease. He didn’t get to live and yet he was already seeing the end. When Muzan gave him an opportunity, he took it, who wouldn’t? Death is a scary thing after all.

Unable to control himself, when the hunger came, he turned against his parents—parents that he loved from the bottom of his hear. From this day forth, he had been trying to fill the void left in his heart trying to make a new family for himself, hence the Spider Family.

The introduction of a new Kakkoii character always comes with a lit episode to commemorate the occasion. And they didn’t half-ass it when Rengoku’s time to shine finally came.

Overpowered and confident, brimming with energy and positivity, his never-fading smile was enough to make us happy as well.

Plus he came along with a new incredible plot, a new season with a new troublesome yet entertaining villain. We got to see him in action from the get-go. Fire is really a cool ability to wield! And they say that Uzui is flashy.

Kanao was an orphan child sold to become a slave by her parents. She was saved by the former Flower Hashira, Kanae Kocho, Shinobu’s older sister.

Emotionless and with no will of herself, she was given a coin to toss each time she had to make a decision. Her heart was a block of ice, her eyes shrouded in darkness, it was as if she was dead from inside.

The first time that she had shown any kind of feeling was when Tanjiro told her to follow her heart. Her eyes took color and from this moment forth, she changed! She finally began to actually live.

The God of Flashiness, the God of Festivals, for a Shinobi, Uzui surely isn’t the discrete type but that’s what makes him so special.

An extremely eccentric character made his flashy debut during the first episode of the third season. The Sound Hashira who was believed to have no regard for the life of others turned out to be a lot kinder than expected.

The slap butt was one of the most memorable parts of all the anime, especially because it was the cold and strict Aoi who received it.

Also, it was the comeback of the legendary trio. After the event on the Mugen train, our three protagonists were given individual missions to complete. They made their return when they selflessly decided to take the young girl’s place and risk their lives in her stead.

Even Zenitsu didn’t hesitate a second before offering to help!

When we all thought that it was the end of season 2, an amazing protagonist appeared giving us two of the most marvelous episodes of Demon Slayer. Hated as much as loved, Akaza, the Upper Moon Three, had an impressive impact on the fans. Not only cool, but he is also extremely strong and, we can’t deny it, he is impressive.

The Lower Moon One just died and yet the warriors didn’t have a second to catch their breath because an opponent that doesn’t even compare to the previous one just had to butt in!

Rengoku was fighting at the best of his abilities, he used all he had and maybe even more. The battle was intense and the episode ended leaving us wondering who was going to be the ultimate winner.

We all hoped for a happy ending, I mean it’s Rengoku we are talking about, no way he would lose…right?

This episode is dedicated to Zenitsu. As we all know, he is a user of the Thunder Breathing technique. However, from all the available forms, he only mastered one of them to perfection and even created his own version of that attack.

Poisoned, exhausted, gravely injured, and slowly turning into a spider, Zenitsu was sure to die. Fainting from the extreme amount of pain, he unleashed for the first time the Thunderclap and Flash, six-fold version.

In a second, he decapitated his enemy but his battle was not yet over as he was still on the verge of death. The Insect Hashira, Shinobu, was the one who ended up concocting and administering the antidote to all the fighters who fell victim to the spider’s poison.

We also got a small flashback from his childhood and at the very end, we could see Tanjiro and Inosuke being intercepted by the Spider Father and preparing to engage in battle.

The last episode of the year, the end of the Entertainment District Arc. In the previous episode, the body of Gyutaro exploded, pulverizing the four injured protagonists.

After using Hinokami Kagura in overdrive, Tanjiro was barely breathing, Inosuke was poisoned and stabbed, Zenitsu ended up with two broken legs and Uzui had one missing hand plus the poison has already spread throughout his entire body.

A desperate situation that made us wait a week in frustration to see how the events were going to unfold. Thank god we got the happy ending he wanted since, unexpectedly, everybody survived!

Nezuko was the start of the show. One of the abilities of her Blood Demon Art allowed her to incinerate the deadly poison from within the victims’ bodies. She saved Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Uzui’s life thanks to it.

Demon Slayer S3 Episode 11 3

The three wives were in tears, thanking the demon for saving the love of their lives. They also decided to retire and live a peaceful happy life, all four of them! It was an indescribable heartwarming moment for all of us

The Serpent Hashira, Obanai Iguro, also appeared, giving us maybe a hint that he will be part of season 4. The flashback of Daki and Gyutaro was also amazing! We couldn’t help but pity them and feel with them after all the hardships they had to go through.

Their love for one another is a feeling that all siblings should share. Seeing them walking together towards hell almost broke our hearts but at least they were together. The sacrifice of the brother was also a moment to remember. All he wanted was for his sister to be happy, he didn’t think of himself for a second!

Extra bonus, the episode was longer than usual as it was 30 minutes instead of 20 minutes.

All the most powerful protagonists assembled in one place during one intimidating meeting. A meeting where the most legendary head-butt of the entire anime history took place.

Sanemi, the Wind Hashira, stabbed the defenseless Nezuko without hesitation, no way that her older brother wasn’t going to get him back real good. A nice humiliation for one holding the rank of an all-powerful Hashira.

And let’s not forget their faces when they learned that Tanjiro was the first one to ever lay eyes on Muzan. They went crazy! It was perfect!

More on the emotional side, we also learned that Giyu and Urokodaki put their lives on the line vouching for Nezuko’s life.

Demon Slayer S1 Ep23 2

In the letter they sent to Oyakata-sama, they declared that if she ever hurts a human, they would both commit seppuku to atone. Tanjiro was in tears when he heard the content of the letter!

We also got to see the leader of the Demon Slayer Corps for the first time. He possesses a very special ability called Soothing Voice. The tone and rhythm of his voice put everyone who hears it at ease.

I swear, even I was respectfully listening to him as he was talking and he is not even real! That’s just how good they made the episode.

Tanjiro was put inside a dream at least over 50 times now and has been taking his own life just as much. On the brink of insanity, he almost cut his head off believing he was still asleep.

Inosuke was the one to knock some sense into him and opened a path so he can get a clear shot on the neck of the demon who is now fused with the train.

He breathed, activated the Sun breathing technique, and with a bursting wheel of flames, he decapitated Enmu putting an end to the terror of the Mugen Train.

All demons are so proud of the number of humans they eat, of the strength they accumulated. And there comes Nezuko, a newly turned demon who hasn’t consumed a single person trampling on Daki, the first half of the Upper Six member of the Twelve Kizuki, like it was nothing.

We never got to see her in an actual fight, and Oh my! Is she strong! Although she almost lost herself, her brother had her back. He sang to her the lullaby their mother used to sing.

Bursting in tears, she fell right asleep. Poor Nezuko!

If you didn’t all cry your eyes out at the end of that episode then you need to go buy yourself a heart. I can’t believe Rengoku died at the hands of that pathetic demon. Tanjiro better get revenge on Akaza and make it a painful one.

Even Inosuke was brawling like a baby when Rengoku gave them his final words of encouragement. What a man! In the end, he did fulfill his promise. He said that he wouldn’t let anyone die and nobody did.

He will never be forgotten. His soul will live on in the hearts of those he saved, in the hearts of the people he left behind. He had a tremendous impact on all the people who crossed his path. He made them grow, made them stronger, and gave them hope.

He died smiling and his head held high knowing that so many lives were spared thanks to him!

In a desperate attempt to save themselves, they struggled, broke their limits, pushed their bodies to the very brink of their capabilities and the demon head rolled on the ground. But why isn’t his body disappearing?
