It seems that you had an accident! You lost your arms and legs, poor soul.  But worry not, I, Dr. Yumama, have gifted you with robotic arms and legs. Thus, you are now a CYBORG! 

What is a cyborg you ask?

Well according to what I’ve learned from my Uncle Google, Cyborg has physical abilities that are increased beyond what is typically possible for humans by means of internal mechanical components. Basically, they are humans possessing mechanical parts in their body that turn them into superhuman.

And now you are one of them as well! But rejoice not, young one! The procedure is not over yet. I need you to pick a cyborg in our database, that I can use as a reference to your character. Can you do that for me?

Our first Cyborg to feature is known as a “TYRANT”, as he used to be a feared pirate! Well, who wouldn’t shiver? Knowing the man has a 296,000,000 Belly(One Piece Currency) as bounty on his head.

Bartholomew Kuma is a fun character, despite his lifeless expression. This cyborg will dare to ask for your ideal holiday before sending you away across the sky like a team rocket blasting off again! He is a good boy when it comes to order but has his own set ideals of right and wrong!

If you think he is not that scary, wait till you see what he is capable of! This Cyborg has single handedly won and defeated the straw hat crew, not once! But twice! Kuma is known for his devil fruit ability that gave him cute bear paw pads on his palm! Fitting for his name, Kuma (Bear).

 But before you say, Aaaaah!  This power of his was strong enough to beat Luffy in Gear Two. The Paw Pads in his pal can repel anything it comes into contact with. A simple and straightforward ability, however, it can be dangerous at the hands of a genius!

 

17. Kikuchiyo (Samurai 7)

Did you like the Pirate Cyborg? Well, if not, then we also have a Samurai Cyborg! You can easily identify him when you see a Cyborg with a samurai themed armor as his exoskeleton.   It sounds cool, but his quick ill-tempered behavior is something you should watch out for!

His design is lit, no cap! With a full-face visor paired in his Kabuto helmet, the color combination of red, white, black and gold fits well with the Cyberpunk Samurai theme that Samurai 7 was going for!

Our mecha samurai is a sturdy character who will fight to the end! Despite his obnoxious behavior and clumsiness, he is no joke when it comes to slicing enemies, with a sword that can almost cut through anything!

Another One-Piece Character, he is known as the IRON MAN of One Piece well according to me, since his nickname is Iron Man Franky after all hehe! His bionic features are his dekai huge arms, covered with an armored body and a prosthetic limb.

He is an incredible builder. Without Franky, SUNNY wouldn’t come to life! If big arms also and mechanical genius brains are what you asked?  Franky is your man!

But did you know he is also an accomplished surgeon? This goofy character may look like a pervert and immature. But there is a lot of development towards his attitude throughout the series, just like Iron Man, hmmm?

The man’s an officer is a bounty hunter and you would easily recognize him from his balding hair and peculiar beard. But laugh not, for he can whoop you up! But don’t worry if you want this character, you have the option of being bald or keeping your hair!

I haven’t introduced you to any main characters yet, right? Well, Meet Ichise, the main protagonist of the story. Similar to your case, he lost his arms and legs. What’s worse is that he was left to die.

Unlike the other characters his life is focused more on the drama, on fitting in when you are different. But that doesn’t mean that he couldn’t give you a knockout. As Ichise is known as an underground fighter.

He has good fighting skills, and his cyborg arms and legs simply made him stronger than ever!

 

13. Ryou Takatsuki (Project Arms)

A young soul with a kind heart and an extensive knowledge of survival skills. Ryou’s character is already perfect in a lot of ways. He has good leadership paired with his combat being a tactician.

What more can you ask for a man with those characteristics? Well, he has a peculiar but cool looking cyborg arm known as the Jabberwock which fires compressed air like a cannon. His robot arms are packed with nanotech that grant him healing abilities.

 

13. Rudol von Stroheim (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure)

Just like any Jojo Characters, Stroheim has the muscle and the masculine appearance! Blue eyes and blonde hair, is one of the easiest features you can see on him. This man has a machine gun on his stomach.

 Boy I do wonder what he looks like whenever he has diarrhea. He also has a mecha eye that can fire a laser as well as a projectile hand. However, there’s one red flag that you should check out tho, before picking him! Clue, 4 letters, starts with N and ends with I. RUN!

 

12. Keel Lorentz (Neon Genesis Evangelion)

We have seen a lot of good guys in this list but not a lot of bad guys. So, I would like to introduce Keel, a cyborg antagonist in the Neon Genesis Evangelion. He drips fire, I guess you have to look cool when you’re a leader of an organization.

There’s nothing much we could tell about this guy other than he leads an enigmatic organization known as SEELE. His body below his neck are modified to cybernetic implants. But he still has his eyes albeit he wore a visor to see, and it looks cool!

 

11. Kuma (Afro Samurai)

Cyborg + Samurai + Bear =KUMA!

Known as Jinnosuki or Jino, the skilled boy from the dojo was depressed because of the main character and attempted suicide by jumping off the clif. He was found by Brother Six of the Empty Seven and saved by replacing some of his body parts with robotic appendages.

He wore the mask designed based on an Otsuru teddy bear and was granted two swords to fight! His fighting style leans in attacking and defending at the same time but Jinno’s leaned in more on his defensive stance.

He is agile and highly tolerant of pain. Plus he knows how to ride a motorcycle, wish I could T-T)

10. Joe Shimamura (Cyborg 009)

Meet Joe Mama- I mean Joe Shimamura, closed enough. This is another classic cyborg character from an anime from the 80’s. Joe or Cyborg 009, is an orphan boy that has a dark backstory of being framed and burned alive.

He has a bright color red suit, equipped with black belt for a holster of a ray gun. He is also a kind soul, with empathy and a heroic personality. Thus as having the heart of a hero, Joe will not think twice of sacrificing himself for the sake of others.

Cyborg 009 is a force to be reckoned with. His body was an improvement from previous technology combining all the good stuff and basically modifying him thus, making him the strongest among his team mates.

He can breathe underwater and has cool features such as acceleration mode that can reach Mach 5. He can use it for transportation and combat! When used into the highest level, it can run faster than the speed of light!

But you’ll explode upon contact tho, hehe!

 

9. Yaya (Unbreakable Machine-Doll)

This might be debatable if you have seen the anime. Technically Yaya is a puppet, but with a mixture of blood, human skin and alchemy, one can create a reverse cyborg! Sounds easy right?

 But don’t try this at home!!!

She is labeled as a Banned Doll, who was made unethically. She also doesn’t need to be controlled, they can attack and use on their own. Yaya is also known to be an indestructible fitting for the title of the anime.

Yaya is in love with her master and will get jealous of any lady who tries to get close with her man. She is notable for speaking in third-person perspective.  She has insane raw power strength that can be boosted by her  master.

 

8. Briareos (AppleSeed Movie)

Briareos Hecatonchires, an embodied cyborg who only has ¼ of his original body intact. He originally from Africa and a terrorist from KGB as a child. He has an antagonist past life but after being caught in an explosion, the man becomes a cyborg!

Despite being a ¾ machine, he can still eat and has a working digestive system (which means he poops and pees right?). Despite being close to fully robot features, Briareon is still human, he can die and he can age.

He is also an example of how your humanity can slowly fade away through body and cybernetic modification.

 

7. Android 18 (Dragon Ball Z)

Now hold your horse before you flame OMO. You are not mistaken! Android 18 is not an android, but a cyborg. But you may, how? Well to get through that question first we have to differentiate Android from a Cyborg.

Well Android is basically a robot that was made to look like a human and cyborgs are humans with robotic features. If you look at Android 18 history you’ll know that she was once human turned into a cyborg by Dr.Gero! Plus if she’s an Android how can she have a child with Krilin?

Android 18 is a cyborg indeed! She is a badass mother with blond hair and 10 out of 10 body figures. She is a confident character that carries a lot of sarcastic jokes throughout the show! She is a dominant figure with a commanding aura throughout the series!

Honestly, I defo would call her Mama!

No.18 is a power fighter who triumphs against Super Saiyan. Back in the old days, we didn’t even look weak when fighting the prince of Saiyan. And her power will continue to grow honestly with the way she’s presented in the show!

 She has Beauty and she’s Beast when it comes to fighting!

 

6. Android 17 (Dragon Ball Z)

Of Course, who could forget No.18’s twin brother? Just like her sister he was also created by Dr. Gero. However, his main purpose is to settle the vendetta of the professor by defeating Goku.

He is incredibly HANDSOME! I guess it runs in their blood.  They got drip and a similar hairstyle with his twinny. Before being one of the good guys, 17 was an anarchist, and a bit rebellious. We cannot really blame him since he hated cybernetics, traumatized from the doings of Gero.

But despite his antagonistic introduction, there were changes in his heart. His bio–mechanical enhancement all down by Dr Gero had granted him a never-ending amount of energy and stamina. He is power amazing in the way that he defeated his creator easily.

Although he was tasked to kill Goku, that never really happened. And even though they fought, it was eventually a draw otherwise they would have destroyed the island due to their insane power! Personally, I think Android 17 is one of the strongest in their Universe and I’ll be rooting for him if he ever had a rematch with Son Goku!

 Also, fun fact, Android 17’s human name is Lapis and 18’s is called Lazuli.

5. Henrietta (Gunslinger Girl)

We are now in our last five, have you already picked your favorite? Well we had a samurai cyborg and a pirate cyborg. What about Assassin Girl Cyborg? Well we got you covered!

Henrietta is a trained assassin! Having to find out her origin had led her to being suicidal. But slowly overcomes it and gains new purpose in life. Her notable features are brown eyes matching the color of her hair.

She has a shy personality but takes her job seriously, especially protecting her handler. And a bit attached to it, as she has the attitude to get jealous of the girls who get too close with her handler.

Her weapon of Choice is P90 just like Llenn from Gun Gale Online!

 

4. Chise (She, the ultimate weapon)

She may look like a kawaii cyborg, but she is a weapon of chaos. Chise was just an ordinary girl but was transformed into a weapon against her will and was sent to fight in war. Talk about typical Mondays am I right?

She was given a cybernetic wing as well as a gatling gun for an arm. Imagine what would you feel as a boyfriend if you woke up one day seeing your girl cyborg being transported to fight? Shuji and Chise have it hard!  This might not be a recommendation list but I genuinely suggest you guys watch it.

It deals with the psychological impact of waking up as a Weapon of Mass Destruction. It’s a love story that isn’t quite talked about by many people, but I’m sure you would come to like it!

 

3. Genos (One Punch Man)

This list wouldn’t be completed without Genos!  He is the badass deuteragonist of the show! In terms of power, Genos is a bomb! literally speaking, he can blow himself. He is impulsive especially in combat, losing care towards his surroundings when fighting stronger enemies.

He still has the human features in his facial figure but his body is completely covered with robotic modification. Having to use an artificial skin material to cover his body. Genos sticks around with Saitama in order to discover his secret on being as powerful as he strives to be.

Genos looks serious all the time, having the ambition to become the strongest! He is powerful already in terms of stats but still on the long road when it comes to being equal to Saitama.

2. Alita (Battle Angel Alita)

Alita or Gally is a well-known character in the Otaku Community! She is a gorgeous woman with dark hair, this hair notable look despite the multiple changes throughout her body.

Gally was found in the dump, a cyborg that is close to being destroyed. She was saved by Gonzo and Ido however she suffers amnesia upon waking up. The name Alita was given to her by Ido, named after his deceased cat.

Alita is a fighter with a lot of features due to her switching cyborg bodies from time to time. Her notable abilities are Plasma Manipulation and hacking. She has a lot of tools and weapons to use for combat!

Genos reminds me of Alita a lot in terms of the designs. They both have determination and a docile personality however Alita knows her limit and will ask help when needed unlike Genos who will blow your house just to defeat his enemies.

 

1. Reg (Made in Abyss)

Last but not least, it’s a favorite of mine! REG!

He is a cyborg on a quest to assist Riko in finding her mother Lyza. Despite his memory loss, he can still vaguely recall meeting Lyza. He is a shy and innocent character who makes a lovely face when he blushes.

He displays emotion openly and cries when upset. Although it was shown that he has a belly button and even human genitalia, I had previously concluded that he was merely a robot. He qualifies as a cyborg because he also consumes food.

He has a lethal ability known as the Incinerator that allows him to discharge an incredibly strong blast that can pierce virtually anything. It’s so absurdly powerful that I wonder if he can compete with Genos. How do you feel?

Additionally, he has two extending arms with a combined 40-meter range. He can use it as a stable grappling hook to lift his pals. Since Season 2 of the anime is still airing, I strongly urge you everyone to watch it.

A friendly warning though, this anime is not for the weak hearted!
