Haunted by the roaming sound of a chainsaw, devils reincarnate on Earth with only the memory of their gruesome death! (Chainsaw Man Manga: Chapter 53)

None of them remembers Hell, none of them can recall what happened to them, how or why they died and yet all devils came back to life with a special feeling for Chainsaw Man.

Some worship him and could give up their lives for him, other fear him like the pest, and the most deranged and suicidal devils are trying to get their revenge against him.
Just what exactly happened down there? What did Chainsaw Man do to get that infamous reputation?
I mean, if the Control Devil became a fan of his and acknowledged him as the “Hero of Hell” then you bet I’m super curious to know how he made that happen! (Chainsaw Man Manga: Chapter 84)
HOW DID HE GET THE THAT TITLE?
Judge, Jury and Executioner
Don’t you find it weird that the demons Chainsaw Man killed are now practically in love with him? Almost obsessed. But of course not as much as Makima, that devil has serious issues.
I know that humans and devils don’t have the same logic or culture, but, I’m pretty sure that in both worlds if you get killed by someone, that probably means that that person doesn’t particularly like you, you know…
Take the Shark Devil for example. His devotion for Chainsaw Man is off the charts and he doesn’t even know why he is so infatuated with him?
It could be that he has a thing for him, Denji has his charms if you put aside his personality, perversion, weird teeth, the fact that he might decapitate you in your sleep by accident. But that would just be boring, cheesy love stories are not for us.(Chainsaw Man Manga: Chapter 40)
He doesn’t know because the reason lies in Hell, in his previous life, the life that he doesn’t remember. His feelings are instinctive, engraved into his very soul. But what in the world could Chainsaw Man have done to create such strong, passionate feelings of loyalty?
Especially since he was one of the devils that heard the sound of his chainsaw before dying, that means that he was his killer and yet he died once again for his murderer, why? Now I know it’s gonna be hard to believe, but what if, by killing him, Chainsaw Man was actually saving him?
We know that something very bad happened in hell a very long time ago. We don’t know what or who the threat was, we just know that the very existence of devils was in danger.
By killing devils, Chainsaw Man allowed them to reincarnate in a safer universe, Earth. But he didn’t stop there.
While he decided whom to save, he also decided whom to erase. He took on the role of judge, jury and executioner.

He killed the devils he wanted to save thus earning their respect and loyalty. He ate the ones he thought were a nuisance like the AIDS Devil, Nuclear Devil, Nazi Devil… The devils who knew where next and knew wouldn’t stand a chance started avoiding him while the ones he didn’t manage to finish off, like the War Devil, are now after his life.
It’s like he was purging Hell!
Chainsaw Man, The Bloody Protector
Chainsaw Man wasn’t going to go to all that trouble just to pass time. Something terrible must have happened for him to decide to take such drastic actions.
While we know there was a war in Hell at some point in time, we don’t know it was who VS who. The most logical explanation is that devils didn’t see eye to eye and ended up fighting. To stop the massacre, Chainsaw intervened and decided to get rid of the troublemakers.
However, no Devil is strong enough to face Chainsaw and for him to have to kill his comrades in order to save them means something extremely strong, stronger than we can imagine, OP even, had to be facing him.

The greatest demons of hell are the four horsemen and the weapon devils. They are formidable enemies, and they might have ended up gravely injuring Chainsaw, however, they don’t smell like the culprits.
Also, Makima considers Chainsaw Man a Hero, she mentioned it herself in chapter 84, which means that she was one of the devils he helped. And since saving her from herself isn’t on the table it must have been something else.
We can agree that traveling between universes is completely possible. The Hell Devil did it in chapter 83.
And even Denji managed to break through the barriers separating our worlds in chapter 84. So what would stop an outside force from doing the same? Maybe a third unknown party was involved.
Someone decided to invade Hell, someone so powerful that even the four horsemen needed saving, and the one who rescued them all was Chainsaw Man, earning him the title of “Hero of Hell’’.
After the catastrophe passed, to make sure something like this never happens again, the Hero of Hell might have decided to begin the Great Spring Cleaning of Hell.
Conclusion

It seems we ended this video with more questions than before but what can I do, the History of Hell is as well guarded as the Void Century. Good luck finding one Devil who actually remembers the place.
But now that the War Devil is back, we might be able to get some answers. She was about to become one of Chainsaw Man’s victims, however, he missed a piece of her and she managed to survive although extremely weakened.
Full of hatred and desire for revenge, it looks like she remembers everything that happened to her since she didn’t fully die.
How she managed to make her way to Earth is a mystery, but we will let her get away with being an illegal immigrant if she can give us what we want.
