Gun Devil | Chainsaw Man Wiki
Chainsaw Man is definitely one of the most hyped series in recent times. Not only was the manga highly rated and loved when it was still serializing but it has also been picked up by Mappa, the studio behind modern classics like Jujutsu Kaisen and Attack On Titan. During its serialization, Chainsaw Man was often compared to Jujutsu Kaisen as a manga that was even darker and grittier while still having many of the elements that made Jujutsu Kaisen a blockbuster hit.
Strong characters are one thing the two shows have in common. Chainsaw Man is known for having a roster of memorable and interesting characters that have a way of sticking with you even after you’ve devoured the latest chapter. The manga boasts complex and unique characters and character designs that are so unlike what you’d be able to get with any other series.

Appearance

The Gun Devil has one of the memorable designs in the entire series in a manga that is known for its character designs. In keeping with its name, the Gun Devil’s entire body seems to be composed of gigantic guns of different kinds. These guns make up the entirety of its arms. For the rest of its body, it appears to be a very large skeleton, it’s face an equally gigantic skull (Chainsaw Man Chapter 75).
Interestingly, it doesn’t appear to have any legs, even it’s legs are composed of guns. It appears to be levitating in the air, with what looks like bandages protruding from its torso onto the ground. It would also appear that the Gun Devil only uses the most famous guns as part of its design -for example, the AK-47’s it has on either arm.

Personality

Despite being a major presence in the series, we actually don’t see or know too much about what the Gun Devil might be like if it was using its own faculties. One of the few things we do know is that the Gun Devil seems to be particularly obsessed with Denji, going so far as to send his minions to try and kill him.
One other thing is that the Gun Devil seems to have no problem sacrificing people if it helps it get what it wants. This was seen by it willing to commit a sacrifice an entire populatio if that’s what it takes to try and stop Makima.
Strengths and Skills

Immortality
Being one of the most powerful beings in the world of Chainsaw Man, the Gun Devil has a whole host of powers and abilities that are worth getting into.
In the world of Chainsaw Man, a Devil slain on Earth will reincarnate in Hell. A Devil that is slain in Hell will end up reincarnating on Earth. We don’t know if there are any limits to this ability and given that, the Gun Devil would be all but immortal (Chainsaw Man Chapter 53).

Regeneration and Incredible Speed
All Devils in Chainsaw Man are able to regain their health by drinking blood. There is no reason to believe that the Gun Devil would not possess the same ability (Chainsaw Man Chapter 1).
The Gun Devil is also one of the fastest beings in the world. In just five minutes, the Gun Devil was capable of massacring over a million people all scattered all over the World (Chainsaw Man Chapter 13). During this, the Gun Devil was shown to be moving so fast that its own skin was seen peeling off of its body.

Contract Creation
In Chainsaw Man, normal humans can make contracts with Devils. This usually involves the human giving up something precious in exchange for getting a share of the Devil’s power. Like every other Devil, the Gun Devil possesses this same ability. Moreover, he is one of the few beings we see for a fact making a contract like this (Chainsaw Man Chapter 75).
We know the Gun Devil at one point forms a contract with the President of The United States. This is one of the most viscous contracts we see in the entire series, with the Gun Devil asking to shave off one year from the life of every person in the United States. This deal was made in exchange for having the Gun Devil take out Makima.

Bullet Creation and Precision
To attack people, the Gun Devil is able to use the guns that compose its body. He can shoot bullets from every gun it has. These bullets it seems to be able to create at will. It also appears that the Gun Devil can create as many of these as it wants. Lastly, it also seems to be able to create these bullets too fast for anyone around it to react (Chainsaw Man Chapter 75).
Apart from the sheer number of bullets it can create, the Gun Devil is also able to use these bullets with otherworldly precision. For instance, the Gun Devil is able to kill anyone within a mile around it, no matter where they may be hiding or how they might be moving. There does also seem to be a supernatural element to this ability, as he is able to even seek out people who were born during a particular month (Chainsaw Man Chapter 75). Lastly, it appears its aim is not only limited to humans as it is seen being able to kill any living thing in an area around it.

Bullet Flesh
The main body of the Gun Devil is divided into many, many bullets. When split off from the main body, these bits of its body seem somewhat sentient, and will attempt to rejoin with the main body whenever they can. These bits of its body are extremely valuable as any Devil that comes into contact with them will absorb a fraction of its power (Chainsaw Man Chapter 13).
During the course of the series, we learn that the Gun Devil currently is not at its full strength, its main body divided into multiple parts scattered around the World. We learn that the United States itself only has about twenty percent of its body, with many other nations also having significant pieces. We don’t know how strong the Gun Devil might become once its whole body is brought together.
Facts
- The Gun Devil is one of the strongest characters in the series, despite us not seeing much of him.
- The Gun Devil arose during a time where every nation started to indulge more and more in violence using guns, likely as a reaction to the mass fear around them.
- The Gun Devil is one of the less popular characters in the show, being ranked number 53 in the first character popularity poll.
Past/History

Before the events of the main series, all the countries in the world were trying to react to the emergence of Devils. To try and counteract them, every nation was locked in an arms race to try and be safe from them. During this time, fear of guns in the public consciousness rose to new heights, with guns being a key feature in just about every public discussion. This caused the amount of gun related fear in the World to skyrocket(Chainsaw Man Chapter 13).
The Gun Devil first appeared on November 18, immediately after a large-scale terrorist attack took place in the United States. The Gun Devil ran wild, killing people indiscriminately. It didn’t just stop in one country, going to many surrounding nations and killing people all the while. Everything happened extremely fast, with the Gun Devil able to kill over a million people in just under five minutes (Chainsaw Man Chapter 13). This was a historic moment in the world of Chainsaw Man, with every human on the planet now being even more aware of the Devil threat.
After this incident, all the nations of the World tried to do their best to lower the fear of guns in the general populace, mostly resorting to not using as many weapons in their own conflicts.
Affiliations

Devils
The Gun Devil belongs to the race of Devils that plague the world of Chainsaw Man. Outside of sharing some similar characteristics, there doesn’t seem to be too much linking individual Devils together.
Relationships

Denji
We don’t know much about the Gun Devil, especially about any specific people it has any kind of connection to. We only really have one example in the entire series.
During the series, the Gun Devil seems particularly interested in taking out Denji and obtaining his heart. It is willing to go so far as to send its minions to take him out. This is the only instance we have of the Gun Devil seeming to take interest in a being of its own will.
Plot

Bat Devil Arc
This is the first instance in the series where the Gun Devil is directly mentioned. Makima is trying to enlist Denji’s help in taking it down, using a piece of its body to help track it down (Chainsaw Man Chapter 12). This is also where we learn some of this Devil’s history and place in the world.

Eternity Devil Arc
After an extensive battle, it is revealed that the Eternity Devil was carrying a piece of the Gun Devil’s flesh around with it. It is also mentioned that this is somewhat common, as the pieces of this Devil is able to empower others who use it for their own ends. (Chainsaw Man Chapter 21).

Katana Man Arc
In this arc, we learn that the Gun Devil seems especially interested in Denji, even going so far as to send someone to try and kill him (Chainsaw Man Chapter 23).

Gun Devil Arc
In this arc, we learn that the Gun Devil has long since been defeated with various parts of its body being scattered around the world or possessed by various nations. This is also the arc where we first actually see the Gun Devil, as the President of The United States is seen making a direct contract with it to try and kill Makima.
This is also the arc where the Gun Devil is seen possessing other beings, turning them into its pawns.
Voice Actor
Final Verdict
In conclusion, we see that the Gun Devil is yet another in the long list of characters that really help elevate Chainsaw Man above its peers. The anime seems almost destined to become a smash hit this year and doubtless many manga readers are excited to see some of their favorite characters animated.
