Introduction
Code is one of the Inner members of Kara, an organization led by Isshiki Otsutsuki (Jigen). After the death of Isshiki Otsutsuki by Kawaki with the help of Sasuke, Naruto and Boruto, he inherited the will of Isshiki Otsutsuki and seeks to continue the legacy of the Otsutsuki clan.
He seeks to become a Celestial Being like Otsutsuki and to continually evolve and become a superior being.

Code is a scrawny young-aged adult. He has messy curly hair of reddish-brown (auburn) color. In the manga, he has large green-colored eyes, whereas in anime, he has large purple-colored eyes. Code has a belt over his scalp covering part of his face around the right eye extending to his left eye. The bejeweled belt slightly hides the Code’s facial scars and he also wears black colored bands on both of his arms. He also has “VI” Roman number inked just below his right eye. Code wears a triangular and spike-shaped earring on his right and left ear respectively. The color of the earring was silver in the manga but in the anime, it was purple. He also wears a black-colored Kara cape which has lilac-colored lines; he wore this cape over a dark shirt with long sleeves. His waistcoat is black and lilac color from left and right respectively.
The waistcoat is white from the behind and he also wears a white-colored neckerchief with black pants. There is the lilac-colored lining on half of his waist code on the right side and also at the ends of his both sleeves and pants. He was also seen to have a silver-colored pocket watch chain fastened to his vest coat in the manga. He also wears some additional bejeweled black colored bands under his sleeves which are mostly covered and not often visible.
When Code was a child, he used to wear a black jumpsuit with high collars and he didn’t wear any band like he used to do after growing up. As Code is a failed vessel, he bears a White Karma, a white diamond-shaped seal on his left palm. (Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Episode 219)
Personality
Code has an arrogant personality who used to mock others for their failures and shortcomings. Once, he smirked at Victor who got scolded by Jigen and laughed at Delta as she was weaker than him. He suggested to Jigen that instead of Delta, he or Boro can easily handle the Seventh Hokage (Naruto) and are a better option for the mission of bringing back Kawaki from Konoha.
He also groans at Koji for killing Victor because he wanted to do it. Code is highly devoted towards Isshiki and worships him and the Otsutsuki clan. He was jealous of Kawaki and had a hostile behavior towards him as he was chosen to be the vessel for Isshiki Otsutsuki. He despises himself for being an unsuitable vessel for Isshiki and getting a defective Karma.
Code is the most loyal subordinate of Isshiki out of all inner members of Kara, he admires Isshiki, and respects other Karma-bearing beings. He treats the Otsutsuki clan as the gods and seeks to achieve their goal.
As Code was unsuitable to become the vessel for Isshiki, he got a defective White Karma. Although the White Karma can’t grant his wish to become the vessel, it gives Code immense power even beyond Jigen’s. He is so devoted to Isshiki that even after having such immense power, he is loyal to Isshiki and willingly asks to suppress his powers by putting limiters in his body. Code was furious when he got to know that Isshiki is dead and he decided to avenge him.
He becomes determined to accomplish his goal to become an Otsutsuki and inherit the will of an Otsutsuki. Despite being loyal to Jigen he can be very lazy as when he was expected to guard the Ten-Tails he fell asleep risking his duties. (Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Episode 219) He is very clever and figured out that Boro goes against Jigen’s order and is storing some of Amado’s cyborgs which are expected to be destroyed.
After the death of Isshiki, Code became the leader of Kara. Although he was devastated about Jigen’s death, he did not act rashly knowing the risk of facing Naruto and Sasuke in his current state showing how cautious and reasonable he is. Instead of acting rashly, he teams up with Ada and calmly proceeds with his plan.
He is prudent and plans to place Claw Marks at different places in all five great nations to keep them busy and weaken their forces by making them guard these locations even though they knew that this may be a diversion for spreading their forces. Code is very determined to continue the legacy of Isshiki and Otsustsuki’s clan legacy of using the Divine tree to take up all life energy of Earth and all its residents to get a Chakra Fruit and use it to become a celestial being.
Strength And Skills
Like the rest of Kara’s inner members, Code also has enormous strength and has gone under body modification to harbor Scientific Ninja Tools. Even Amado cannot determine the full extent of Code’s power and stated that his power is even more than Jigen and the rest of Kara’s members, making him the strongest Kara member.
Code’s power is suppressed by putting limiters in his body even though he was one of the strongest inner Karas, stronger than Delta and Boro. Only Koji Kashin can probably stand against his power among the inner Karas. Amado also states that Code with suppressed power can defeat the Naruto Uzumaki (Seventh Hokage) who had lost the Kurama (Nine-Tails). Code uses Yin Release (Shadow style) to contact his team members by Genjutsu Communication. He is also good at taijutsu and can easily dodge and counter-attacks as he showed while fighting Kawaki.
Body Modifications
All the members of Kara have undergone some or other body modifications given by Amado. Unlike other inner Kara members whose bodies are modified to increase their power, Code’s body is modified to suppress the enormous power provided by his White Karma. (Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Episode 219)
Code can alter a part of his body to weaponize it just like Delta and Kawaki. He can reshape his fingers into razor-sharp claws which can easily cut through his enemies and other things.
He is also able to produce and spread various black bands similar to the bands present on his face and arms and can stick them to any surface which comes in contact with it. These black bands act as portals through which Code can pass through and kind of teleport himself from one band to another. He can use these bands as transportation jutsu as well as to suddenly emerge from this band to surprise attack the enemy.
Karma
Code has also undergone the procedure of becoming a vessel for Isshiki Otsutsuki just like Kawaki but was unsuitable to become a vessel. As he failed the procedure, instead of getting a Black Karma, he got a defective White Karma. The White Karma could not fulfill the desire of Code to become the vessel of his leader but grants him his leader’s pure power giving him enormous strength that even exceeds that of Jigen making him the strongest member of Kara. (Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Episode 219)
Code’s power is so enormous that even Amado cannot determine its full extent and Isshiki stated that his White Karma will gradually transform him to become a perfect Otsutsuki and allow him to carry on the legacy of the Otsutsuki clan to devour the whole life energy of the earth and its resident to bear the chakra fruit and evolve into a supreme being.
When Code’s White Karma is activated, it spreads over the left side of the body and extends towards his left eye marked by grey colored markings and a pattern identical to that of Jigen’s.
Claw Mark
As stated above, Code can spread and adhere the black bands to any surface and use it to travel between them. He can also travel to different dimensions using his Claw Mark making him a formidable foe. Only Code can travel using the Claw Mark but he can also take one extra person with him. The Claw Mark is similar but cannot be considered a Space-time Ninjutsu according to Amado.

- Code is an arrangement of rules to convert data like a letter, sound, word, picture, or motion.
- In Chapter 15, Code’s distinctive hair, facial highlights, and tattoo were not yet characterized, however his outfit was. When the anime adapted this chapter, Code appeared with an updated style.
- Before Chapter 55 of Boruto manga had been distributed, there was less focus on Code because of the little role he had in the manga earlier, the anime developed Code, uncovering his undying faithfulness to Jigen and showing his envy of Kawaki for being a successful vessel for Isshiki Otsutsuki.
- Code introductions are different in manga and anime and have a slightly different storyline.
Past/History
New Era
After the Chunin Exams, Code observed Naruto Uzumaki to find out whether Momoshiki Otsutsuki have left any Karma on him before getting killed in the hope to revive in the future but found nothing that concludes it.
Kara Actuation Arc
In the anime, when one of their bases in Amegakure which is maintained by an Outer was destroyed, Jigen Immediately called a meeting of all the Inners of Kara including code to inform them about it and how to proceed further considering the situation. (Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Episode 157)
Ao Arc
During the transportation of the vessel, the ship got hijacked and crashed near Konoha and was missing from the ship. Jigen called a meeting of Inners including Code using the genjutsu, explaining about the situation of the missing vessel to them and ordered them to recover it at all cost. (Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Episode 182)
In the anime, Amado called Code and other Inners to catch any traitor among them by checking their bodies in the name of maintenance. Code was surprised when Amado told him that Victor is dead and was unhappy with Koji Kashin who killed Victor as he wanted to do it.
Code was very observant when Victor stated that someone sabotaged his plan of stealing the vessel. He pondered that maybe someone from the Inners other than Victor is involved in the disappearance of Vessel. He also suspected Boro as he already knew about Victor’s death.
When Amado was telling Jigen that he found nothing wrong during the maintenance, Code overhears their conversation. Code later attacked Jigen but all his attacks were easily repelled by Jigen, he asked Jigen to grant him permission to find the traitor responsible for the missing vessel but Jigen refused and told him to focus on the assigned mission given by him.
Jigen ordered Koji Kashin to handle the matter about the traitor, this made Code angry and it increased when Delta mocked him saying that Jigen trusts Koji Kashin more than him. (Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Episode 184)
After the taunting, Code became impatient and decided to do his own investigation. He suspected Delta and interrogated her but she defended herself saying that Code will more contend over the disappearance of the vessel. Code gets enraged and tries to attack Delta but Amado stops him and tells them that during maintenance, he didn’t find anything suspicious about them. Amado told Code to not act on his own as it will make Jigen angry and calmed him down.
When Code found that both Boro and Koji have refused to go through maintenance, he starts suspecting them, and later in the hideout, he starts an argument with Koji to vent out his frustration.
Kawaki Arc
In the anime, when Koji Kashin was assigned the mission of retrieving Kawaki, Delta asked Jigen permission to check the progress of the mission by herself and he permitted her. As Delta was leaving the hideout, she passed by Code and he mocked her for being simple-minded.
Code was worried because of the sudden disappearance of Jigen and Amado told him that Jigen is under-recovery after his maintenance. Amado still cannot find the traitor but Jigen was not worried about it and was laid-back towards the Inner, this made Code conclude that Jigen already knew the identity of the traitor.
Amado requested Code to ask Boro to come for maintenance but Code refused as He cannot leave the hideout without Jigen’s permission but Amado assured him that this is for Jigen and he will explain the situation to Jigen. Due to Amado’s assurance Code agreed to summon Boro for the maintenance but Boro refused to do so. Code pressurized Boro and threatened him to use his power which impel Boro to come for maintenance.
Later, when Delta got defeated by the Seventh Hokage, she told Jigen in the presence of Code about the power of Naruto Uzumaki that was far greater than her. Code was also amazed to know that Momoshiki Otsutsuki had left his karma before his demise
He suspected that Sasuke Uchiha was the one who had the karma but Delta told them it was Boruto Uzumaki who bears Momoshiki’s Karma. Later, Amado revealed that he didn’t find anything suspicious about Boro during maintenance. Jigen took on himself to retrieve Kawaki but failed to do so due to Naruto and Sasuke and the fight put a lot of burden on Jigen’s body forcing him to go under-recovery.
Code was surprised to see that Naruto and Sasuke are so strong to force Jigen to fight seriously although these two shinobis suffer great damage and Naruto even got sealed eliminating two possible threats of Kara. Jigen was happy to see that Kawaki’s Karma had greatly matured and after the battle, he assigned Code to guard the Ten-Tails. (Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Episode 204)
After Jigens battle with Naruto and Sasuke, Code was assigned to guard the Ten-Tails as Sasuke and Konoha know the location of Ten-Tails and can be targeted by them. He informs Jigen that no contact can be established with Boro. Later, Delta informed that Boro had been killed and Code responded that he would handle this matter but Jigen told him to continue guarding the Ten-Tails.
Naruto, Sasuke, Boruto, and Kawaki are successfully able to kill Isshiki who has revived himself in Jigen’s body. Code who was guarding the Ten-Tails received a message from the dying soul of Isshiki through his White Karma. Isshiki ordered Code to use his White Karma to become a perfect Otsutsuki and use either Kawaki or Boruto as a sacrifice to Ten-Tails. Ultimately, producing Chakra Fruit by devouring Earth’s life force and consuming it to evolve into a supreme being.
Code agreed to take upon Isshiki and Otsutsuki’s will to achieve godhood and asked him the identity of the foe who is responsible for his demise to avenge him and activate his White Karma while saying those names. (Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Episode 219)
Code Era
Code after the demise of Isshiki becomes the leader of Kara, instead of acting hastily he calmly analyzed the situation and concluded that it is dangerous to fight Naruto and Sasuke in his suppressed state. Code set out to Boro’s facility killing his eight subordinates and threatening Bug to take him to Ada who is an Outer and was ordered to be disposed of by Jigen to Boro.
He suspected that Boro didn’t dispose of Ada and even after Bug’s warning he smashed open her pod. Despite being provoked by Ada, he cannot kill her and Bug explains this is due to her power that makes anyone fall in love with her.
Ada also told Code about his clairvoyance mechanism and told him that he already knows about Isshiki’s death and Code’s goal to carry his will. She told Code how to remove the limiters and Amado’s contribution is a must.
She agreed to help Code with his plans as she was interested in having a relationship with either Boruto or Kawaki without getting affected by his power. She agrees to sacrifice one of them as a sacrifice to Divine Tree and to provide him with every intel about his enemy.
Ada uses her Senrigan (Dojutsu) to tell every movement about his enemies, although after all those body modifications, Ada can only use a basic level of taijutsu. Code noted that even though Ada wants to have a relationship with either Boruto or Kawaki there is still a chance that she can kill them as they are unaffected by her power.
Ada recommended to awakened Daemon, her brother who instantly repelled all the attacks of the guards and showed his protective nature towards Ada. Code was amazed to see Daemon’s power to instantly reflect all the attacks of the enemies and smoothly kill them.
Daemon started annoying Code by constantly asking Code to give him a ride. When Bug was trying to escape, Daemon diverted his attention towards him, Code taking advantage of this, attacked Daemon with his Claw Marks but he instantly reflected them back to him. Code told them that his Claw Marks allow him to travel between them and asked Daemon to explain how his powers worked.
Daemon found Code’s Claw Marks fascinating and wanted to tell him how his powers work but Ada stopped him as she still does not trust Code completely. This made Code think that Ada may be concealing some of his abilities.
Ada continued using her power to see all the events occurring and informed Code that Kawaki is alone right now near the outskirts of the village. Code decided to use this moment and teleported himself near Kawaki. Ada uses her power to direct Code towards Kawaki, Kawaki proposes that he will let Code kill him to avenge Isshiki in return to spare Konoha but Code found this offer ridiculous and beats Kawaki to submission.
Code was determined to kill each and everyone who is involved in Isshiki’s death and to continue his will of devouring the planet’s life force. Code told Kawaki that someone wants to meet him and tries to take Kawaki back with him but in the meantime, Boruto arrives and stops him.
Boruto and Kawaki start arguing in front of Code and he was amused at Kawaki for thinking he could protect the Seventh Hokage. Kawaki willingly accepted to go with Code to meet the person who asked for him but Boruto refuses to let Kawaki go. Code introduces himself to Boruto Uzumaki and admired him for being Momoshiki’s vessel but was determined to sacrifice him for his goal to obtain Chakra fruit.
Boruto activated his Karma and started fighting with Code but Code had no problems in evading his attacks by using his Claw Marks. Code also activated his own Karma and explains how Karma grants power by allowing its users to access all the battle experiences of the Otsutsuki who gave it to them. Code constantly attacks Boruto for getting the opportunity to see Momoshiki’s power.
Code started getting more interested when Boruto drew more power from his Karma, he even activated Byakugan in the left eye reaching new levels. Code was amazed to see that Boruto was able to control this new power, Ada informed Code that this might be due to the medicine that Amado gave it to him to stop the further maturation of Karma.
Boruto’s new power starts pressuring Code and he noted that Boruto’s sacrifice will make the Divine Tree bear high-quality Chakra fruit. Code decided to retreat and take Kawaki back with him to Ada but Kawaki with Boruto’s help was able to break free himself. Code gets surprised to see a change in Kawaki’s decision. Boruto and Code were still fighting and with Ada’s help, he was able to keep up with Boruto. Suddenly, Boruto started screaming in pain and collapsed.

As an Inner of Kara, he also has some subordinates known as Outers of kara. Some of the Outers are Ao and Garo who handle matters in the outside world to conceal the existence of Kara.
After the demise of Isshiki, Code becomes the leader of Kara and teams up with Ada and Daemon who have been captivated in Boro’s facility. He also shares a unique bond with Kawaki as a fellow vessel although Code is not a successful vessel. Kawaki, Boruto, and Code are all related to each other as fellow beings who bear Karma.

Code is an antagonist character in the manga/anime Boruto: Naruto Next Generations which follows the events of the manga Naruto (Anime: Naruto and Naruto Shippuden). The series mainly follows the events after the Fourth Great Ninja War focusing on Boruto as the main character(protagonist).
He is a member of the organization Kara who aims to achieve Godhood by cultivating the Divine Tree and obtaining the Chakra Fruit and in the process devouring the whole life energy of the planet. Code was very faithful to his leader Jigen and worship and his clan.
After the demise of Isshiki, he passed his will to Code and told him to become a perfect Otsutsuki. Code decided to avenge Isshiki and to follow the Otsutsuki clan legacy. Code recruit Daemon and Ada from Boro’s facility and together try to avenge Isshiki and to achieve the goal of becoming a celestial being.
Background/Synopsis
When Kawaki was brought by Jigen to Kara, Code was one of the fifteen candidates who have undergone the Otsutsuki ritual of embedding Karma to create a vessel for Isshiki. The ritual ends with the Kawaki as the only survivor to become a perfect vessel for Ishikki but there’s one more survivor, Code who experiences the drawback of failing the procedure to become the vessel.
Code, just like other failed candidates, experienced the shaking and spasms but withstood it. He survived the ritual and received a defective White Karma. This White Karma produced some changes in the Code’s body providing him with immeasurable strength that even exceeds Jigen.
Although anyone who gains extensive power greater than Jigen by undergoing experiments and modification is eliminated instantly to save Jigen’s dignity as the leader of Kara but Code was spared due to his firm loyalty and devotion towards Jigen. Code willingly accepted the limiters given by Amado to suppress his power and become one of the Inners of Kara.(Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Episode 219)

Junta Terashima
Code was voiced by Junta Terashima (寺島 惇太) in the Japanese version of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. Junta Terashima is a Japanese voice actor and narrator who debuted in 2009 as a voice actor. Some remarkable roles that he played apart from Boruto are – Takeru Taiga (The Idolmaster), Hyoga Yukimura(Inazuma Eleven Go), Hisoka Mikage(A3!), and Shin Ichijo (King of Prism).
He also started a singing career (in 2019) and released some amazing extended plays including Joy Source and 29+1: Miso.
