The Colossal Titans have stepped afoot on Marley! Eren’s humungous and horizon-occupying Founding Titan form isn’t far from behind the said Titans. And it seems that the world outside Paradis Island is over!

But is that the fact – the thing that will happen within the series? According to the manga… IT IS NOT THE CASE. Say whaaaaatttt?!
Yes, you’ve heard us right – Eren will NOT destroy the rest of the world! Shocking, right?
Wait, wait, wait! Calm down people, put down your pitchforks, scythes, and your 3D Maneuver Gear blades as we explain to you why Eren has seemingly chickened out from his original plan of the Rumbling.
THE RUMBLING IS UNREAL?
Main Point 1

To remind you and the folks watching this, let me remind you that in the last season of the anime, Eren fired the first shot in the Marley-Paradis war by doing this…
And these…
…Yeah, Eren became a bad boy in this season, showing that he will do anything to protect his friends and loved ones from the people he treats as enemies (in this case, the Marleans that want to attack them).
But you can’t blame Eren for his actions, thanks to a flashback scene in the last episode of the season that solidifies his decision to wage war against the world. If only they’d talked it out by then, maybe things would be different… don’t you think? Before we take things too seriously, let’s have a laugh or two, and check out these funny memes in Attack on Titan!

But that isn’t the reason why you’re here for this blog, right? You’re here because Eren didn’t destroy the whole world as he planned!
Well, he destroyed some of it, like the city of Liberio and the Marlean port as shown in the anime… But that doesn’t matter for the context of this blog! Let me tell you why Eren didn’t destroy the rest of the whole world AND the remaining humanity.
Main Point 2

AoT manga readers are surely nodding their heads with me in agreement when I say that Eren has doubts about the Rumbling. Just look at what Eren felt when he realized that he was going to kill innocent civilians caught in the crossfire…
Remember this kid from the last episode of season 4? The kid that was supposed to be captured and mugged by the Marlean market sellers due to them suspecting him being a thief?
Yeah, that specific kid with clothing out of place with the rest of the public, well… let’s say he ended up as tomato paste during the Rumbling. A certain red-haired space tanuki seemingly approves! And do you also approve on our list of the strongest characters in Attack on Titan?

Unexpected crossover jokes aside, the whole chapter shows how Eren was apologetic for his actions, saying he was sorry for his wish for everything outside their island to disappear.
That chapter shows that Eren has still some humanity left inside him. Even though not stated, you can see that he wanted a different way for things to happen.
But alas… he chose the path of destruction blindly after he witnessed how humanity can be evil towards fellow kind.
Furthermore, those who’ve already read the manga already knew what happened to Eren and his fate, but for those who are anime-only, let me serve a BIG SPOILER WARNING here!
If you don’t want to be spoiled, stop reading right now, leave a like and a comment (if you want to), and read other blogs of QuoteTheAnime! If you are still here after all of those, then don’t blame us after opening Pandora’s Box of spoilers! Dan-dan-dun!!

In the final chapter of the manga (chapter 138), Mikasa chooses to kill Eren by decapitating his head which was connected to the Founding Titan’s shining centipede-like spine. By doing so, Eren was killed for good, effectively stopping the Rumbling as a result.
We know it had to be done, but maaaannnn… it still stings knowing that one of the popular anime protagonists of past recent series will end up this way. I guess Hajime Isayama, AoT’s creator, doesn’t like to make the ending of his series to be wishy-washy and wants to leave an impact, which he certainly did.
Conclusion

Now that we’ve seen some of Eren’s regrets of starting the Rumbling and his eventual fate, what do you think about the other remaining characters in the series? Will many of them still die at the finale?
