Appearance

Although appearing briefly in the manga, she has long black hair tied into a ponytail. She wears a revealing dress with a square pattern secured with a striped obi. It should also be of note that she has a beauty mark just below her right eye (Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 89). One gets femme fatale vibes just by looking at her no wonder why she is one of Tengen’s wives.
Personality

During the battle with Gyutaro, one of the Twelve Kizuki, Hinatsuru showed fearlessness and was also strategic. Taking advantage of the resources at hand, she was able to help defeat Gyutaro. Away from battle, she is calm, collected, and patient, considering that she can still take care of her husband after a stressful and tiring battle. It shows that she keeps her composure even after experiencing Tengen fighting, the results of the final attack of Gyutaro. These things show that she is a kind and fearless individual.
Strengths and Skills

Espionage
She does well in espionage, infiltrating the Kyogoku House to look for demons in the district, and completing the mission instructed by Uzui Tengen as expected from a successful shinobi. During the mission, she wasn’t compromised but she willingly put her life on the line despite knowing the riskiness of the said mission

Kunoichi Training
Aside from espionage, she trained as a kunoichi and can wield a kunai with proficiency.
She is also adept in performing maneuvers that no person without undergoing kunoichi training could do. This resulted in her being an effective kunoichi in her actions and, factoring her strategic and fearless tendencies thus, creating opportunities setting her and her allies for success.

Kunai Box & Poisoned Kunai
She also has a kunai box that can shoot kunai daggers at a vast range towards the enemy coated in Wisteria Extract, a numbing agent, causing demons to be paralyzed and halt their regeneration ability as mentioned in the previous chapters. She used this ability during the battle with the Upper Demon 6 in turn, causing them to win the battle
Within her kunai box lies kunai daggers laced with Wisteria poison that could paralyze demons. This arsenal of hers is something demons fear as it is one of their known weaknesses in the Demon Slayer universe.
Facts
- Hina means “chick” and Tsuru means “Crane”.

- Her family rank was second only to Tengen Uzui’s family.

Past/History

Instructed by her husband Tengen, Hinatsuru infiltrated the Entertainment District in Yoshiwara, Kirimise alongside the other two wives of Tengen Uzui. Before being sent into the mission, she along with the others were told that their priority is to save themselves first, respectable humans second, and lastly, Tengen Uzui (Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 80).
She was successful in finding out the whereabouts of the suspected demon in hiding but was unable to do anything to dispatch the demon (Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 76).
Affilitations

Demon Slayer Corps
As one of the wives of the Sound Hashira, Hinatsuru dedicated her life to helping the Corps, in order to prevent the demon population from growing in numbers and ultimately, protect the innocent civilians from the terror caused by the demons. She can be considered as an ally that would risk her life just for the cause: eliminating the demon population at all costs.
Thus, one can say that she prioritizes not just her safety but also the safety of the innocent civilians, the hashiras, her husband, her co-wives, and anyone else in between.
Relationships

Tengen Uzui
The Sound Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps. He is the most flashy and flamboyant hashira, out all of them, even telling Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke that he is a “god”. He also said that he should be treated as one at the start of the Entertainment District Arc (Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 71).
He is a shinobi prior to being the Sound Hashira and is also a good husband to his three wives as he set a safety priority before continuing with the operation.

Suma
The younger co-wife of Hinatsuru was also sent to the Entertainment District. She has the same personality as Zenitsu Agatsuma that shows fear during dangerous and stressful situations (Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 79). Her personality resulted in her making insensitive remarks here and there.

Makio
Hinatsuru’s co-wife that has a headstrong personality, taking bold and confident actions. Despite this, her soft side begins to show when Tengen’s health was on the decline brought about by battling the Upper Demon 6 (Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 94). She also has the tendency to be mad towards the scared and uncertain Suma.
Plot

Hinatsuru was instructed to infiltrate the brothels in Yoshiwara, Kirimise to gather information about the demon that was terrorizing the district. Tengen found her weak as she ingested poison after finding out that one of her co-workers was a demon because she couldn’t make a move on her. Tengen gave her an antidote and told her to leave after the effects of the antidote kicked in (Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 88).
In the later chapters, she would join the fight at a critical moment where she used her kunai box to send a barrage of Wisteria-covered kunai blades in the hopes of numbing and halting the movements of Gyutaro. Her actions opened an opportunity for Tanjiro and Tengen to strike a blow (Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 89).

She hoped that either Tanjiro or Tengen could decapitate the demon but instead, she was attacked. Luckily, she was saved by Tanjiro severing the hand of Gyutaro through combining the Water Breathing technique with the Hinokami Kagura technique. Gyutaro was stalled for a moment, his attacks continued but was attacked from behind by Tengen (Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 90).
Along with Makio and Suma, she tried desperately to save Tengen from the poison caused by the final attack by Gyutaro (Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 94). An emotional moment was shared before the four were expecting the worst to come. Luckily, Nezuko arrived and used her Blood Demon Art to save Tengen causing the wives to feel a mix of emotions (Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 95).
They were then approached by Obanai Iguro to congratulate and berate them on the victory. Pushing off her co-wife Suma from the heavily injured Tengen, they left with Hinatsuru supporting the hashira in order for him to walk and live another day (Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 100).
So did you like my wifey?
Let me know in the comments!

At this point in time, you’ve learned about one of the Sound Hashira’s wives. You’ve learned that she along with her co-wives supported their husband in his line of work. This character, albeit seen for a couple of chapters, has a personality that is different from any other character in the manga, and soon to come in the anime. Come to think of it, Hinatsuru actually fulfilled her role as a wife for Tengen as she is able to take care of her husband along with her co-wives.
It should also be of note that she is a brilliant fighter taking on every opportunity during a battle for her and her allies to win. Her proficiency in espionage and show of expertise in being a kunoichi makes her likable as a character even though she is just a side character in the story and has brief and occasional appearances. As a side character, she had an impact on the story that the others didn’t have.
Anime watchers would be thrilled to see her in Season 2 of Demon Slayer in color and movement which covers the Entertainment District Arc. Season 2 of the anime is set to release on December 5th of this year, so get ready to see her in action within the year.
