Anime has always been magical. It gives us a chance to experience the wildest and wackiest storylines. Recently, there has been an increase in the number of Magic anime. So much so that you can’t keep up! Well, if that is the case with you, I can feel your pain.
However, rest assured, because I have assembled a list of anime that are the best in the magic genre. Let’s dive right into the list of 31+ Magic Anime that are a must-watch!

32. Sky Wizard Academy
This anime’s story is set in a post-apocalyptic world where humans are living in floating cities (Sounds like Utopia, right?) Due to armored monsters (Bugs) that nearly annihilated the entire species of humans (I take the Utopia remark back). The world is somehow at peace because of the brave wizards that fight off these bugs.
Kanata Age was once labeled as a hero by the people because of his insane capabilities as a wizard but after a certain incident, people began calling him a traitor. He ended up getting demotivated from fighting.
By turns of fate, Kanata ends up helping the team of wizards. The team members include Misora Whitale, Lecty Eisenach, and Rico Flamel. All of these girls have labeled him a NAUGHTY GUY earlier *all thanks to an evil jam sandwich*.
31. Log Horizon
Up next we have Log Horizon, an Isekai anime. It revolves around teenagers playing a certain game called “Elder Tale” who get transported in the world of the game with no way out (No offense, but “Elder Tale” sounds like the biography of a 50-year-old).
Kei Shirogane AKA Shiroe is a 23 years old graduate who has been playing Elder Tale for 8 years. He also gets stuck in the game but unlike the others, clashes with this game head-on to explore the limits of this new virtual world.
Shiroe forms a party with Naotsugu and Akatsuki, his friends, and sets out on a journey to bring peace to the virtual city of Akihabara.
However, it is not as easy as it sounds because of the way this virtual world works. A proper strategic mind and behavior are required. Fortunately, Shiroe is gifted in that field.
30. Radiant
Next, we have an anime that was released in 2019 called Radiant. The main plot of this anime revolves around the demonic creatures and the struggle of sorcerers to protect the world from the chaos brought by these creatures.
Seth is a young boy who became a sorcerer after getting infected by a demonic creature also known as Nemeses (Sounds awful). People began calling him a horned boy because of the tiny horns on his head which indicate the fact that he is a sorcerer.
He decided to save the world from these deadly creatures with the help of Doc and Melie, his fellow sorcerers. He dreams of creating a society where sorcerers will not be victimized.
29. Redo of Healer
Next, we have Redo of Healer anime, a recently released anime. The main plot of the anime revolves around the tragedies encountered by a hero and his revenge outburst on the people who were the source of his agony.
Keyaru, an ordinary man who attained the abilities of healing and became a Hero. Even though good fortune was expected for him, he ends up getting tortured by the king of the Jioral Kingdom.
However, with time Keyaru attained immense power but everything was lost. To take revenge on his offenders, he casts a redo spell on the entire world that rewinds the current world to the time when Keyaru became a healing hero (Remember kids, don’t bully anyone).
28. Magical Warfare
This anime’s story is set in a world where humans and magicians coexist with each other peacefully. Meanwhile, a faction of magicians (Ghost Trailers) is disrupting the peace by attacking humans to claim their supremacy.
Takeshi Nanase was an ordinary high school student but his fateful encounter with Mui Aiba leads him to a new world as he gets turned into a magician (You’re a wizard, Takeshi).
Takeshi enrolled in a magic academy (Not Hogwarts) along with Kurumi Isoshima to practice their new abilities while maintaining the peace boundaries between humans and magicians.
27. Conception
Moving forward, we have an anime named Conception. The main plot of this anime revolves around the two cousins who get summoned to Granvania to save it from the disastrous impurities that ravage it.
Itsuki Yuge was an ordinary high school student. On his graduation day, his cousin Mahiru Konatsuki confesses that she is pregnant. Soon after that, a strange light takes the both of them to another world.
Itsuki was tasked to fight off the impurities of Ganvania by “collaborating” with Star Maidens which would result in the production of “Start Children” that would fight off the impurities. This is the only way Itsuki and Mahiru can return to their world.
26. The Ancient Magus’ Bride
This anime’s story is set in a world where mages, fairies, sorcerers, and all supernatural entities reside. However, normal humans treat them differently; this was the case with Chise Hatori who was a Sleigh Beggy (Rare Magic-User).
Elias Ainsworth purchases Chise who was being sold in an auction for 5 million pounds. He takes her to his house in rural England where fairies and other supernatural entities live. Elias makes Chise his apprentice and the future bride (Where can I buy one? Asking for a friend).
Chise might be able to escape her past traumas while exploring this new world of magic.
25. Strike the Blood
Strike the Blood’s story is set in a world where demons, fairies, vampires, and all supernatural entities live in a separate man-made island called the Demon District of Itogami Island.
Kojou Akatsuki was an ordinary student but a certain incident left him with the immense vampire abilities of the fourth primogenitor. Unknowingly he becomes the most dangerous threat in the world.
To observe Kojou, the Lion King Organization (I have no explanation for this name) sends out Yukina Himergai, a sword shaman to monitor Kojou and eliminate him if he is found dangerous. However, they both end up getting together to save the island from various factions and threats.
24. Cautious Hero: The Hero is Overpowered but Overly Cautious
Up next we have this anime Cautious Hero: The Hero is Overpowered but Overly Cautious (I would rather not say this long name twice).
The main plot of this anime revolves around the cautious hero and his struggle to save the world of Gaeabrande from the demon lord who wishes to bring calamity to Gaeabrande.
Seiya Ryuuguuin was summoned to the world of Gaeabrande by the goddess Ristarte because of his extraordinary skills. But to Ristarte’s surprise, this new summoned hero is very cautious and won’t fight until he is fully prepared. Ristarte must cope with Seiya’s cautiousness to save the world of Gaebrande because Seiya is their only hope.
23. Cerberus
Next, we have Cerberus. The main plot of the anime revolves around a young man seeking revenge on the evil dragon who killed his parents.
In the continent of Kunaaan, an evil dragon known as Daganzord lived who was constantly devouring all life. The famous mages of the continent were summoned to seal the dragon in a ritual ceremony but the ritual failed and all mages ended up getting killed by the dragon. The parents of Hiiro were also killed. (Ah, the classic “dead parents of a hero” trope).
Hiiro decides to avenge his parents by killing the Daganzord once for all and goes on a journey with his master Giruu and friends.
22. Chivalry of a Failed Knight
This anime story is set in a world where people are born with the ability to form powerful weapons from their souls (Blazers).
They are trained in prestigious academies to become Mage-Knights. However, some low-rank Blazers are ill-treated by society because of their inferior abilities.
Ikki Kurogane was a low-rank blazer struggling with his life. Even though he was from a notable household he was discriminated against because of his ability. Ikki undergoes insane training and polished his so-called inferior skill to the maximum level to prove to the world that he is not useless.
21. Noblesse
Noblesse is an entity that maintains the power balance between all the nobles. We can say that an upholder of peace among nobles and humans.
Cadis Etrama Di Raizel is a noble who holds the title of Noblesse but after a tragic incident, he goes into a coma for 820 years. Several years later, Raizel awakens and finds himself in the human world.
He meets Frankenstein, his servant who is now the owner of the school. Raizel enrolls in the school as a student to conceal his identity. However, the current head of nobles is after Raizel. He must deal with the nobles while protecting his beloved ones.
20. The Asterisk War
This anime story is set in a world where a disastrous incident called Invertia reformed the world. In addition to the changes in the world, a new species of humans with supernatural abilities emerged known as Genestella.
The most powerful Genestella are handpicked from the entire world to participate in a grand battle royale known as Festa.
(Thank God, these people don’t perform cringy dances after eliminating their enemies).
Amagiri Ayato was a scholarship student in Seidoukan academy whose sole purpose was to locate the whereabouts of his long-lost sister.
He met Julis Riessfeld in an “awkward situation” and gradually became close to her (Please someone tell these people that locks exist).
Julis pursues Ayato to participate in Festa as her partner, to which Ayato agrees, hoping to discover more about his sister.
19. Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest
Up next we have Arifureta on our list, an Isekai anime that was released in 2019. The main plot of the anime revolves around the high school students who get summoned to another world as heroes to fight the dungeon monsters to save the world.
Hajime Nagumo was one of the students who got transported to another world but he attained a low-class transmutation ability. Due to which he was often mocked by his fellows. After a tragic incident, Hajime finds himself in utter despair.
The negative emotions burning inside Hajime help him survive the hell created by his fellows. He meets Yue, a powerful vampire who swore his loyalty to Hajime and their journey from the depths of dungeons starts.
18. Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina
This anime story is set in a world full of magic and wonder where witches are quite common. The main plot of the anime revolves around a young aspiring girl and her journey of becoming a full-fledged witch.
Elaina is a young girl who has been fascinated by the adventure stories of witches written in a book. She decides to become a witch herself because of her passion for adventures. Even though the journey was full of struggle, Elaina succeeds in becoming a fine witch.
After the completion of her studies, Elaine finally embarks on her long-awaited journey which will allow her to experience the pleasures and tragedies of this world.
17. Fairy Gone
Next up, we have Fairy Gone. The main plot of the anime revolves around the soldiers who lost their purpose of living after the end of the war.
Long ago, some of the fairies began residing in animals which resulted in the emergence of supernatural abilities in animals. People transplanted the organs of these animals into humans that produced Fairy Soldiers that can use the immense power of the fairies as an alter ego.
Free Underbar, who was a fairy soldier, loses his purpose of living after the end of the war. He joined the organization Dorothea that resolves fairy-related crimes as some of the ex-soldiers are still out there brewing another war just for fun and excitement.
16. Qualidea Code
This anime’s story is set in a world where extradimensional existences attack the earth due to which humanity has put young children under cold sleep to protect them from the apocalypse.
Several years later, children arise from sleep and find themselves equipped with supernatural powers. (Imagine going to sleep and waking up as Superman the next day).
Ichiya Suzaku becomes the head of Tokyo city and he must cooperate with the leaders of other cities to bring an end to this war.
15. Irozuku: The World in Colors
Up next we have an anime called Irozuku. The main plot of this anime revolves around a young girl who travels back in time to discover the real meaning of life.
Hitomi Tsukishiro was living a dull life deprived of colors and fun. Her grandmother casts a spell that takes Hitomi back in time, hoping that she would discover the true meaning of life.
Hitomi finds herself 60 years back in time just when her grandmother Kohaku was a high school student like her. She meets Yuito Aoi, an artist with great talent. Hitomi witnesses the “colors” for the first time in the pictures drawn by Yuito which made her happy. This is a very sweet anime.
14. The Legend of Legendary Heroes
Following the list, we have The Legend of Legendary Heroes up next. The plot of this anime revolves around an empire and the struggle of people in making the empire a peaceful place free of war and tragedies.
Ryner Lute is a talented mage born with destructive eyes called Alpha Stigma. However, because of his eyes, people ill-treated him and he experienced a lonely childhood.
Until he becomes friends with Sion, a man with revolutionary ideology. (I honestly don’t understand the concept of bullying like why are you mad that I look different!).
Sion becomes the king of Roland’s empire to correct the wrongdoings of the empire. He asks for Ryner’s help in this matter and Ryner swears his loyalty to him.
13. Witch Craft Works
Up next we have the Witch Craft Works. The main plot of this anime revolves around an ordinary boy with hidden powers and the battle between the two factions of witches.
Honoka Takamiya is an ordinary high school boy leading a normal life. His everyday life takes a turn when he gets attacked by a witch but he gets saved by Ayaka Kagari, the princess of his school who turned out to be a witch herself.
Takamiya decides to become the apprentice of Ayaka so that he can also help the people from dangers and witches.
12. Wise Man’s Grandchild
Next up, we have Wise Man’s Grandchild which follows the story of a normal salaryman who got killed in an incident (Isekai storyline incoming). He gets reincarnated in another world full of magic and wonders.
Shin Wolford was reincarnated in this new world where an old man—regarded as a hero — took him in and raised him. Even though Shin was reincarnated, somehow he retains his memories.
At the age of 15 years, Shin mastered all types of magic and even created his original spell which was quite destructive. He takes admission to a magic academy and his daily life of training and learning to control his powers begin.
11. Demon King Daimao
Up next we have Demon King Daimao anime, the main plot of this anime revolves around a boy who ends up becoming a demon lord and his struggle to prove his good intentions to the people.
Akuto Sai was an orphan who transferred to a magic academy hoping to make the world a better place but upon his arrival, the school spirit predicted that he would be the next demon lord and everyone started to fear him.
Even though his fate was set in stone Akuto decides to make his own fate and decisions. (But wait, a demon lord without a harem storyline is not possible so here we go). Akuto meets with various girls who decide to aid Akuto in his journey and the harem life of the young demon lord begins.
10. The Misfit of Demon King Academy
Moving forward, we have The Misfit of Demon King Academy, the main plot of the anime revolves around the reincarnated demon lord and his interference in the strange matters of the present world.
Anos Voldigoad was the demon lord who sacrificed his life to bring peace among demons and humans. Several million years later, he reincarnates and finds that even though the world is at peace the people have mistaken his name and do not remember him.
He decides to reach the root of the disturbance that caused this change in history while dealing with the foolish pursuers who wish to take him down.
9. Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers
Up next we have, Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers. The main plot of this anime revolves around the brave warriors chosen by fate to fight the demon lord and the confusion that arrived with the emergence of the seventh brave.
Adlet Mayer becomes one of the six brave warriors after 8 years of harsh training just to kill the disgusting fiends that took his family from him.
He meets Nashetanya, the princess of the Piena Kingdom who claims to be one of the six brave. She accompanies Adlet in search of other braves to fight off the fiends.
8. Blast of Tempest
Following the list, we have Blast of Tempest. The main plot of this anime revolves around the two young boys who end up carrying the fate of this world while trying to find the killer of their beloved one.
Yoshino Takigawa was an ordinary student with strategic abilities, he was leading a normal life till the day he hears the news about the murder of his girlfriend Aika Fuwa, the adoptive sister of Mahiro Fuwa.
Several years later, the world is in chaos due to the tree of beginnings and Mahiro gets in contact with a stranded mage who promises to find the killer of his sister. Yoshino and Mahiro may end up saving the world while uncovering the mysteries.
7. Akashic Records of Magic Instructor
Up next we have Akashic Records. The main plot of this anime revolves around the students of a prestigious magic academy and the interference of a magic instructor in their everyday life.
Glenn Radars was a man who was appointed as the teacher of students in the Alzano Imperial Magic Academy. Even though Glenn was quite dumb and lazy his approach towards magic was unique and interesting.
Sistina Fibel was a hardworking student in the class Glenn, she often got mad at Glenn because of his irresponsible and dumb behavior. Gradually she acknowledges him as they got involved in various dire situations caused by the enemy factions of the empire.
6. Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation
Moving forward, we have Mushoku Tensei. The main plot of this anime revolves around a reincarnated man into a new world of magic as a child and resolves to live this new life wholeheartedly.
Rudeus Greyrat was a loner shut-in gamer in his previous life. He gets involved in a truck accident and reincarnates in a new world of magic as a newborn child retaining his memories. (Damn, all these gamers keep getting reincarnated. I feel threatened).
He meets Eris Boreas Greyrat, a hot-blooded noble girl, and becomes her magic instructor, hoping to live a life with no regrets.
5. Trinity Seven
Up next we have Trinity Seven, the main plot of this anime revolves around a young man with a powerful grimoire and his interaction with the most powerful mages of the world.
Arata Kasuga was an ordinary boy whose town was destroyed by the unknown Breakdown Phenomenon but the grimoire given to him by his cousin Hijiri Kasuga produced an artificial world for him.
He meets Lilith Asami, one of the powerful mages, who was going to kill Arata but she didn’t kill him because Arata decided to get admission to Royal Biblia Academy to hone his skills while finding the whereabouts of his cousin.
4. Irregular at the Magic School
Following the list we have, Irregular at the Magic School, Shiba Tatsuya was a student at First Magic High School in the lower class section known as weeds.
Even though Tatsuya has extraordinary combat skills and unique Abilities which make him invincible and overpowered, he chooses to hide it because he is the top-secret experiment of the Shiba Clan and protector of his little sister Shiba Miyuki.
Tatsuya shows no emotions except his love for his little sister because all of his emotions are sealed to prevent him from rampaging. Tatsuya also serves the Japanese Military as their Top Secret Weapon.
3. Magi: Adventure Of Sinbad
Up next we have Magi: Adventure Of Sinbad. The whole anime revolves around a boy with mysterious abilities and his potential to become a king while adventuring and conquering the seven seas.
The anime is a spin-off and prequel of Magi: Labyrinth Of Magic. The anime features Badr, an ex-soldier who has been through devastating wars and now lives with his kind wife Esra. After several years a boy was born in their house which creates a rift in Rukh (the home of souls).
(SinBAD? More like SinGOOD).
The boy was Sinbad, the main protagonist who conquers the dungeons while making new friends and exploring this vast world.
2. That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime
The second anime on our list is That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime. It is one of the isekai anime that has reached the pinnacle of popularity. Our protagonist is an average working man who met a dreadful fate on his way home.
Satoru’s last request to his friend was to delete his browsing history (A true man of culture), soon after the incident, he finds himself in the body of slime in another world where magic and monsters are quite common.
He encounters the sealed storm dragon (Veldora), who became his friend after a friendly chat. Veldora grants Satoru a new name, Rimuru Tempest, which increases his stats insanely. With these new abilities, Rimuru swears to free Veldora from this prison one day.
1. Seven Deadly Sins
The number 1 anime of the magic genre on our list is Seven Deadly Sins. The story starts from the time when there were no boundaries between the realms of humans, goddesses, and demons; war broke out between the three races that continued for centuries.
At present, boundaries are created between the realm of each race and peace has been achieved but some knights of the Britannia empire are trying to bring chaos again in this world but our heroes, the elite knights of the empire (Seven Deadly Sins) will not let them have their way.
Elizabeth Liones (Female Protagonist) meets Meliodas (Male Protagonist), the commander of Seven Deadly Sin who bears the sin of Dragon’s Wrath, the most powerful sin in the world. Elizabeth asks for Meliodas’s help in saving the kingdom, to which he agrees and their journey together starts.
