The Most Powerful Pokemon of Every Type

One of the most common questions asked is: Who is the strongest Pokemon? The answer should be easy, however, it certainly is not.

Based only on stats, you’d get Rayquaza or Mewtwo but even those two can lose a fight depending on the matchup, the situation, and the talent of the trainer.

Nonetheless, it is still fun to know who is the ultimate Pokemon even if it’s just in terms of numbers and we can always add a twist to those kinds of lists, so look forward to what’s coming and dig into the list of The Most Powerful Pokemon Of Every Type.

 

18. Normal: Arceus

That Pokemon is actually kind of a cheat. First of all, he is a god, a synonym for overpowered in the anime world. And that’s not all, he is not just ANY God, he is the creator of the Pokemon World.  

Second of all, he is an Alpha Pokemon that can actually change types. And it’s not like he has one or two types under his belt but all of them. I did tell you he was a cheat! 

If we let him do so, he can easily steal the spots of all the Pokemons that are coming up in the ranking so we will give him a fair handicap. In his base form, Arceus is a Normal-type so we will only consider him as such from now on. 

Just by looking at his design, you can guess that that beast is super strong. Everything about him says pride, righteousness, prestige, and power. 

As adept in attack than in defense, he is quite the annoying opponent to deal with since he is almost impossible to destroy. 

Well, that still depends on your skills, if you suck as a trainer, don’t blame your Pokemon for his shortcomings.

PS: Not targeting anyone specifically here… 

 

17. Poison: Eternatus

Mega Venusaur must be boiling with rage by now after discovering that our newcomer stole his title of the strongest Poison-type Pokemon and with a nice 65 points lead. 

In other words, he absolutely crushed him and set a new record that will be extremely difficult to beat. 

In his normal form, the Poison Dragon is almost Arceus’s equal, however, he still has a card hidden under his sleeve, a card called the Eternamax form. 

I know, the name is grandiose and so is its effect since the transformation boosts Eternatus’s stats giving him the terrifying number of 1,125 total points. 

Thank Arceus that form is not actually obtainable or he would’ve taken over the Pokemon world in one fell swoop. However, even without it, you can see that in some categories, he has our God beat. A battle between them is sure to be an intense one and the winner would be unclear.

His only down point would be his design for me, he looks more like a bug than a Dragon, to be honest, and could they have chosen a worse color matching?! 

 

16. Psychic: Mega Mewtwo X And Y

As you can see, we have two Pokemons sharing the position of most powerful Psychic Pokemon, their stats are equal with the huge amount of 780 points. Now Arceus looks cute next to them.

Not too long ago they also used to share the title of strongest Pokemon ever as a matter of fact. However, the new extensions that came out during the 8th Generation gave them some worthy opponents to head-butt with.

Both of them are the Mega Evolutions of Mewtwo, a super popular Pokemon that has 680 points even in his base form, nothing to laugh at, he is almost as powerful as Eternatus.

Now, the most common question we come across when those two are mentioned is: Who’s stronger? 

Now, all I can give is my personal opinion on the matter, but to make things more professional let’s make a Pros & Cons list. Okay, I’ll admit it, I hate to be proven wrong so I’m arguing my case, who cares about professionalism here?

Another equal score, I’m not helping myself, I like Mewtwo Y better, you can choose the one you like, I don’t care anymore.

 

15. Grass: Mega Sceptile

For a Grass Pokemon and a Starter one at that, Mega Sceptile is not doing so badly at all! And Mega Venusaur is beat again, HAHA.

For a herbivore he looks kinda cool, don’t you think? Looks more like a Dragon than someone else we know.

And his backstory is also pretty interesting. When made his debut was he was Emerald’s Pokemon. During the Battle Factory challenge, he was the final battling member going up against Illumise.

The battle was anything but easy, but in the end, he came out victorious. After he proved himself, his owner realized that he was much more than a simple rental Pokémon, and he was right.

Turned out that he was smuggled in illegally and forced to fight in many savage Battle Arenas. At some point in the manga, he manages to put his hands on a Sceptilite that gave him the ability to Mega Evolve into Mega Sceptile. 

Today, Mega Sceptile made it even further since he got the honor to appear as a very special entry in our modest ranking list.

 

14. Ground: Primal Groudon

If Arceus is the Pokemon God that rules in the skies then Primal Groudon is definitely the one guarding the firm Earth.

He is the embodiment of the land, an overpowered Legendary Pokemon that fought many times against the infamous Kyogre in order to obtain the power of nature itself.

Imposing and terrifying, and yet, you can’t help yourself but bow in admiration and respect before his magnificence.

Just looking at his attack stats, we can imagine that each battle may restructure the land after withstanding some of his blows. It’s gonna be fun for the author to redraw all the maps every once in a while.

His biggest disadvantage would be his speed. When you look at him he looks slim and all but he is actually a real ogre, one of the heaviest Pokemon that was ever created. No wonder he can barely run if he is dragging 950 kg on his back. And just for info, I didn’t add an extra 0 by mistake.

 

13. Ice: Black Kyurem and White Kyurem

Another tie in the ranking, this time its Kyurem alternate forms with the total score of 700 points. I don’t think I need to tell you how to differentiate them, right? Right! There’s no way…

The twin brothers have been holding on to their spots since the 5th Generation and they are still going strong.

Although they should be equally powerful, and the same Mewtwo dilemma should appear here, the favorite is already set and chosen.

The difference between them is especially recognizable in the games. While Black Kyurem is one of the best OU picks, White Kyurem came out short, however, he still holds a good/cute manage niche spot in Ubers.

Those two as well as their base form don’t have an evolution as of now, if they ever get one, it will be something that puts the Pokemon world upside down.

Keep playing, keep training, keep on getting stronger, and maybe by the time your 90 a miracle will happen.

 

12. Fire: Primal Groudon

We just talked about him, I know, but what can I do? He is a Ground and Fire Type Pokemon and seems like no one is able to dethrone him.

I’m not gonna give you another intro but I can give you some honorable mentions that are quite cool as well.

They are way behind and nothing compared to our King but Ho-oh and Reshiram are quite powerful Pokemons and they both have a score of 680 points. Don’t be harsh on them now, 680 points can at least beat you in half a sec.

 

11. Rock: Mega Tyranitar and Mega Diancie

Yet again, two Pokemons are sharing the spot for strongest Rock-type Pokemon but, this time, at least, they have nothing to do with each other, except the fact that they are both Mega Evolutions.

The first one is something that resembles a macho dinosaur with no sense of fashion while the other looks like an adorable mouse that’s about to get married. And to be honest, her dress is a killer. I want the same one for my big day.

They look nothing alike, one looks OP while the other is frail and innocent and yet, on the battlefield, it’s the cute looking one that’s actually ruthless.

Their attack stats are going through the roof, one punch and it might be game over real soon for many trainers and their pets.

No one really had the curiosity to try and deduct which of those two would win in a duel, so I did it instead. I believe that everything will come down to speed in the end since both their attack and defense stats are quite high.

It’s the little maiden’s win and I’m not choosing her because of girl power stuff or anything like that, I’m not that cringe, or maybe just a tiny little bit?

 

10. Dragon: Mega Rayquaza

We all expected Rayquaza to be the ultimate Dragon, but, the thing is, it’s not just the first place in his category that he is fighting for but the first place in the entire Pokemon world.

Mewtwo X and Y were the ones holding that title until he showed up and he showed up with an advantage that tilted the scale completely towards his side.

Putting aside Eternamax Eternatus, a Pokemon that is technically unobtainable, the crown bestowed upon THE MOST FORMIDABLE POKEMON undoubtedly goes to the scaly head of Mega Rayquaza.

If only considering stats, he shares that title with Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y but stats are not everything. Mega Rayquaza does not need to be in possession of a Mega Stone in order to Mega Evolve like the other two.

That means that he has free space to use another item that will give him the edge. Of course, there are also points leading to the conclusion that it’s the Mewtwos who are stronger and if we start a debate now, it might not end. However, the popular opinion is in favor of Mega Rayquaza.

Just don’t forget that Mega Rayquaza is the sole reason Anything Goes was created. It’s an entirely new and revolutionary tier that’s even higher than Ubers. He is starting to go from awesome to annoyingly perfect.

 

9. Water: Primal Kyogre

Primal Kyogre can be considered the eternal rival of Primal Groudon. They wield opposite elements, have the same total stats, and are in constant competition to see who will be the one to acquire the power of nature before the other.

We got the God of the skies and the lands, now he can take the responsibility of God of the seven seas.

No other Water-type Pokemon can even come close to matching his strength. The second placer in this category would be Palkia with 680 points. It’s not like it’s a low number but, well, compared to Primal Kyogre, it is puny.

 

8. Bug: Genesect, Mega Heracross, Mega Scizor, and Mega Pinsir

Not just ugly, disgusting and useless, they are also so weak that it’s not just two Pokemon nor three that are sharing first position but four of them with the weakest total amount of total points till now.

I know I sound like I’m underestimating them, I just don’t like bugs in general and I’ll admit it, however, I’ll still give you the few qualities that that bunch possesses.

See, I’m not the only one that looks down on bugs, and it seems that the author made them just to stick it onto our face that we were wrong.

Put them together, use their unique abilities at the right place at the right time and you’ve got yourself the perfect trump card that will most probably give you a victory on a silver plate.

 

7. Dark: Mega Tyranitar

And he is back! Sorry, as some Pokemons have multiple types, you will be seeing them sweeping the podium more than once, just like right now.

Mega Tyranitar may look a bit like a dork but his power is undeniable and he deserves every bit of glory that he is getting.

However, the honorable mentions are not so far from the mark that time around since they are only 20 points behind, oh, I’m talking about Yveltal and Hoopa Unbound here.

 

6. Steel: Zacian (Crowned Sword) and Zamazenta (Crowned Shield)

Those two Pokemons also come from the newest generations and stole the poor Mega Metagross place with a score of 700 points.

On par with Arceus himself, in their crown forms and if they are together, I’ll cut my hand off if any of you manage to defeat them.

With overwhelming attack power and overwhelming defense abilities plus exceptional speed added to the mix, they are the definition of first-grade products and what’s even better is that they look like adorable dogs in cosplay.

Now, catching both of them is the difficult part. In the game Pokemon Sword and Shield, we have four available Legendary Pokemon. However, you cannot catch them all.

You can only acquire two of the four in each version and Zacian and Zamazenta can only be hunted in Sword or Shield.

 

5. Fighting: Mega Mewtwo X

Lay waste to all your enemies once again thanks to your second type that gave you the honor of becoming the number 1 Fighting-type Pokemon. A position that would’ve gone to Zamazenta: Crowned Shield otherwise.

He is the ultimate fighter that any trainer would die for, a legend that will lift you up alongside him, maybe even make you become a legend yourself.

Waste no more time and start making history, the history of the Pokemons to be exact, and make sure your name will be remembered through the generation as the one who caught and tamed Mega Mewtwo X.

 

4. Ghost: Giratina Altered Form, Giratina Origin Form, Lunala, Dawn Wings Necrozma, and Shadow Rider Calyrex

Now that’s a long list of Pokemons occupying this category. The old-timers were already a lot and quite strong, and the newbies came to add some new blood to the mix. 

Cool designs, awesome backstories, magnificent moves, and special attacks, and I would love to list them all for ya but I don’t want to turn this blog into a book.

I’ll keep it short and invite you to Google them for more information if you don’t already know about them of course.

 

3. Flying: Mega Rayquaza

It goes without saying that Rayquaza has a second type and that he is the one in the first position as the representative of the Flying-types Pokemons.

I sang him praises more than enough before, I’m not quite sure what I should add to that. He is a force of nature that just dominates everything everywhere he goes. Battles, duels, challenges, and competitions, all of that are all just walks in the park for him.

His ability called Delta Stream even increases his already limitless powers. He is so OP that everything must be actually super boring for him, we are just the ones having fun destroying our opponents mercilessly.

 

2. Electric: Zekrom

Villains really have the best designs. Dark, mysterious, and Kakkoi, just how we like them. He is not just awesome, he is also quite the threat to our eternally young hero with stats as high as 680 points. He also has another name, the Deep Black Pokémon coming straight from the 5th Generation.

While Reshiram is the embodiment of yang and his element is Fire, Zekrom is the embodiment of yin, the master of Thunder.

Then we have Kyurem, the embodiment of wuji (a state where neither yin nor yang exists), his ability is Ice. If he takes on his alternate forms, he has the power to control both Reshiram’s fire and Zekrom’s thunder.

The last entry that we have here is also a Pokemon that we have before. On the contrary to his alter ego, he managed to put a second victory under his belt as the strongest Fairy-Type Pokemon, a spot that was once occupied by Mega Diancie.

Strong as rock and quick as lighting, he is an opponent you do not want to face even if his partner is not with him.

 

Conclusion
