By reading the title of the anime, you must be like “Eww!” but trust me it’s a very bizarre story. The story of Toiled-Bound Hanako-Kun revolves around Hanako who’s a spirit haunting bathrooms. He also has the ability to grant wishes. Isn’t that cool, but like in a bizarre way? JOJO REFERENCE????? Nene Yashiro is the MC who is desperate for a boyfriend and loves the occult. Therefore, she ends up summoning the bathroom haunting spirit, aka Hanako.

WATCH ORDER
TOILET-BOUND HANAKO-KUN SEASON 1
So, the plot begins with two girls gossiping about the toilet spirit, aka Hanako-Kun. This ghost lives on the third floor of the girls’ bathroom. Some people might take him for a perverted ghost living in the girls’ bathroom. The story begins with Nene Yashiro arriving in the bathroom, risking her own life for love. Let me tell you how you’re supposed to summon the bathroom spirit.
First, you’re supposed to knock three times at the bathroom door and then say “Hanako-Kun” three times. This will help you summon the ghost who can grant you wishes. (Do try at home) Suddenly, he shows up in front of her and she gets super scared to the extent of punching the ghost she couldn’t even touch. Isn’t that funny? Well, as the story proceeds, Hanako introduces himself and asks about her wish.
Nene asks him to help setting her up with Minamoto senpai. Yes, she’s in love with her senior. That’s when Hanako-Kun takes out a book full of love hacks and gives it to her. But she declines. Then they go downstairs where Hanako asks Nene whether she has any special skills or not. Nene shows that she does gardening. There’s a sad past behind this though. So, basically she got rejected by one of her seniors last month because she had “Daikon” legs. Although the guy said that he’s into feminine girls. That’s why our MC started to learn sewing, cooking, and gardening. Little did she know that she had DAIKON LEGS. OMG, that was so not nice of that guy.
Anyways, it’s time for our girl to step up her love game and come up with something so she can get the attention of Minamoto senpai. What made her fall for Minamoto senpai? He helped her pick up the pencil case.. BOOM! She fell for him right at that moment. When she tells everything to Hanako-Kun, he gives her a love card and asks her to write her feelings on it. She said that it’s going to be too early if she writes everything suddenly.
Then she wrote “thank you for picking up my pencil case that day” and she also put some vegetables she grew beside that card. When Minamoto senpai read it and saw the vegetables, his classmate asked him if he saved a fox or something. Hanako teases her for such an epic failure.
While she was stalking the almighty Minamoto senpai, she saw that his sleeve was torn apart. Hanako suggested that she should help him in sewing it back, she rushed to him but the thing is, there are so many girls already up for that. Thus, she fails again.
Now what’s next? Well, she still hasn’t tried cooking yet. Therefore, she cooks lunch for him and puts it on his table. The lunch looked totally normal? AS IF! It was so EXTRA. You can look at it right here. Isn’t that so bizarre? That’s why Minamoto senpai went outside and said that someone must have forgotten their lunch box at his table.
Our MC gets so hyped up when she’s in love that she sometimes goes all-in. However, failing repeatedly disappointed her quite a lot. She asked Hanako to stop laughing at her. That’s when he suggests that she should just tell him face-to-face while appreciating her own skills. Nene gets angry and says that his methods of winning someone’s love were too basic, that’s why they didn’t work!
Then he takes out the Kokeshi doll and he says that these are a bit scandalous. Moving on, Hanako drops something called “matchmaking cursed scales” and Nene picks it up and puts it into her mouth while asking for an explanation, that’s when Hanako explains that these are the cursed items. Nene swallows the cursed scales and says if it means swallowing cursed things for Minamoto senpai, she’ll do it. It seems like Nene really is determined to get the love of her senpai this time. Isn’t that right?
Then she runs away after saying that he did have the right items all this time. She runs towards the love of her life aka Minamoto senpai. Nene hides behind a box and sees someone confessing to him. While she’s eavesdropping their conversation she hears him say that there’s someone he liked for a long time. Who do you think he’s talking about?
Nene gets disappointed and looks at the cursed scale. That’s when she starts developing scales all over her body. Then she falls into the curse, and sorts out her thoughts. Then inside that imagination, she falls inside an aquarium. It turns out she turned into a fish. HAHA! I’m dead! Hanako arrives and says that everything comes with a price. Then suddenly, a cursed spirit arrives bad mouthing humans and threatening to kill them. Hanako-Kun gets ready to fight! Let’s see what’s going to happen next!
