HOW TO WATCH RE: ZERO IN ORDER
I. Re: Zero Release Order
Re: Zero is an amazing, interesting isekai anime show with a psychological genre, and it follows some time travel theme that a lot of people love around the world.
The anime storyline is about Natsuki Subaru, a gamer who attains a power that allows him to travel back in time when he dies, he calls this ability Return by Death.
So basically, this anime has two seasons that have been released, some OVA episodes, special episodes but no movies at all, and below I listed out the order in which they were released.
1. Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World (First Season)

Release Date: April 4, 2016
Total Episodes: 25
This is also called Re: Zero Starting Life in Another World, the first series of the anime. The anime kicks off when the MC was on his way home from the grocery store, a high school student Natsuki Subaru is then suddenly teleported to another realm.
But he ends up getting attacked not long after getting into the new world and the crazy thing is, he doesn’t know how he got there or who brought him there. Well, he ends up getting saved by a mysterious lady, a silver-haired lady to be precise, and her partner which is a spirit animal called Puck.
Now Subaru is in her debt and the only way he can repay her is by helping her look for the person who had stolen something from her.

They end up searching for the stolen property, luckily for them, they get a clue about where it might be and they start heading there, only for them to end up getting brutally killed on their way. But something happens, Subaru ends up waking up an hour before he and the silver-haired lady were killed.
What had happened to him? He discovered he had an ability to travel back to a certain time after his death, only realizing that was his ability after dying a few times, he then calls the ability, “Return By Death”.
Basically, the MC is a defenseless youngster who can only travel back in time by dying. Can he alter history and save the mysterious silver-haired lady from her destined death, would he be able to do it despite the trauma that comes with each experience before death?
Well, the only way to find out is if you watch the anime.
2. Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World (season 2)

Release Date: January 6, 2021
Total Episodes: 24
At this point, the anime had scaled high in the anime world but what takes place in this season? Well, the first season had already covered the manga by writer Tappei Nagatsuki and illustrator Shinichirou Otsuka up until the middle of Volume 9.
So, let me tell you some things that happened in this season, so we see that the Witch of Greed Echidna finally reveals her strange and explicit machination to Subaru. But I guess Subaru would have liked it better if he had not known.
Following what she did, she proposed something to Subaru which was “ the revelation of Return by Death.”
In another scene we see through the season, we see Subaru lying on the floor unconscious but staring at himself but dead, he sees his body bleeding excessively while Felis and Emilia try excessively hard to bring him back to life, I’m trying my best not to spoil it.

But we see Subaru more like a phantom passing through time, he sees that in the future but in an alternate timeline, where his death had affected most of his friends. He sees that Puck is preparing to fulfill his pledge of destroying the world if Emilia ever dies because of some sort of misfortune.
We see that Puck has lost his “humanity” and now he is more or less a beast ready to destroy everything on his path.
Ok enough of the spoilers, this season is just basically about how Subaru tries to make a decision on whether or not he will leave this world and his friends behind.
Will he agree to the deal and live with the shame of having abandoned his companions to a world without him?
II. Re: Zero Specials Release Order
Re:ZERO PETIT

Release Date: June 24, 2016
Total Episodes: 14
Now let’s talk about the special release, they have just one special release season and it is called Re: Petit kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu (2016), these are special comedic episodes of Re: Zero starring cast from Re: Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu, and it as well a sequel of Re: Zero kara Hajimeru Break Time.
It has about eleven episodes, you should watch to get some comedic feel from the anime.
II. Re: Zero Specials Release Order
Now let’s take a look at the OVA release order, just in case you don’t know what OVAs are, they are not special episodes but they are Original Video Animation, or rather, they are anime series created just for home release, without previously being broadcast on online platforms or in cinemas.
So let’s take a look at some of the OVA’s releases;
Re:Zero - Memory Snow

Release Date: October 6, 2018
Total Episodes: 1
So in this OVA episode, we see that the main character and his friends finally find some moment of peace. So now, the MC is on a top-secret assignment that he must keep hidden from everyone else!
Despite the MC’s disguise, all the kids in the village were able to recognize him easily. So, what will happen to the MC’s plan with Emilia now that his plan had been quickly revealed in less than ten seconds? Want to know what happened? You already know what to do, go watch the anime.
III. Re: Zero Movies Release Order
Re:ZERO - The Frozen Bond (OVA+Movie)

Release Date: November 8, 2019
Duration: 1 hour 16 minutes
The storyline in this OVA takes place during Re: Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu: Memory Snow, so you can say it is an OVA episode of that part of the show.
So, the episode is an adaptation of “Hyouketsu no Kizuna,” a prequel novel that was added to the first Blu-ray and DVD volume of the TV series.
In this OVA,the storyline follows Emilia and Puck. In the first scene, we see Emilia defeating a wild demonic beast trying to protect a family but while trying to do so, she harms the father of the family and while she tries to console them, they reject her because she looks like the Witch of Envy.
Due to that event, Emilia decides to isolate herself from the world to not cause any problem. Note that all these are just memories of her past life and her life with Puck.

We see Emilia being the nice person that she is. In fact, there was once a time where a guy named Chap and his men tried hurting Emilia but obviously she is strong, so she ends up beating some of hap’s guys and telling him to leave the village.
While she was confronting them, a Snow Blight was approaching, she tried to warn them but Chap and his men didn’t listen to her until it had killed some of his men.
Emilia does her best to beat it by using a very powerful attack, this attack is called the Ice Flower which ends up draining the beast’s blood and the beast dies. But at the moment of the beast’s death, the effect of the attack was reaching Chap and his men.
They begged for their lives at the hands of Emilia but I guess at that moment she couldn’t control her powers. Luckily, Puck had arrived at that moment when she had cried out for aid, Puck put her to sleep which cleared the effect of the Ice Flower.

Puck then confronts Chap and his troops, giving them a heads up more as she threatened them and as a result of the warning, they ran away in fear.
Emilia wakes up at her house and cries out to Puck, whom she thinks saved her. She then thinks that the community she frequently visits might be in jeopardy, so she investigates. When she arrives, the shopkeeper prostrates himself in front of her and begs her to never come back.
She expresses her delight at learning that Chap and his men had previously arrived but had done nothing. She then tells the trader to never venture back into her woods and leaves while forcing him to look at her face.
Emilia is subsequently dubbed the Frozen Witch, the Witch of the White Forest, by the befuddled trader. Meanwhile, Chap tries to persuade his Ganaks Organization supervisor to let him get vengeance on Emilia.

Puck then arrives and scares Chap by reactivating the Ice Flower inside him, which causes Chap to run in fear.
Basically, most of her life got stigmatized because of her resemblance to the witch of envy, what a life to be discriminated against all your life because of how you looked like.
It’s really a heartwarming story just showing you how strong Puck and Emilia’s relationship is. I can’t tell you everything that happened, if you want to know what happened you need to watch the anime, so what are you waiting for?
IV. Re: Zero Spinoff Release Order
Re:ZERO ~Starting Break Time From Zero~

Release Date: April 8, 2016
Episodes: 11
These are cute short videos, I think this was about eleven episodes and each of them was about two minutes long. They are just basically chibi variations of characters from the main anime series. You should watch it just for laughs.
V. Re: Zero Chronological Order
If you are ready to watch this anime then this is the best part of the article so far, I would list out the best order in which you should watch the anime to get the full storyline of the anime. Are you ready? Well, the list is below;

About Re: Zero Series order

Only two series have been released by the creators of the anime, the manga series had been converted into an anime series by White Fox Productions, and the first season premiered in April 2016, while the second season premiered in July 2020.
The first season was produced and directed by white fox and it aired about 25 episodes in total. The whole release lasted from June 24, 2016, to February 24, 2017, the anime was released on DVD and Blu-ray Disc in nine different sets.
During the second season on March 23rd, 2019, its adaptation was revealed. The official launch date was announced as June 11th, 2020. On July 8th, the season began. The season is divided into 2 parts, with the very first part premiering on July 8th, as previously stated.
On January 6th, 2021, the second season premiered. The second season ended with the 50th episode, which aired on March 24th, 2021, and covered the complete Everlasting Contract Arc from the anime.
Re: Zero Plot

Before we get started, let me ask you a question. Do you ever wish you could be teleported to a world completely different from ours and then transform into a superhero who battles magical demons and saves the day?
Do you wish you could press a button to go back in time to a period where you can correct a mistake you made? Ok, that’s two questions, but if your answers to those questions are yes, then this anime is for you.
In Re: Zero, we follow the main character who was transported into a world where magical beasts exist. He runs into this female in that world. Not long after we see him and his new female friend, both of them get killed. He wakes up but this time to repeat the day again.
Crazy right? Now he has to complete some tasks in order for the repetition of the day to stop. Are you wondering how he survived? Well, after reading this article go watch the anime.
What should you watch, original or director’s cut?

I know that most people who want to watch the anime get confused about this, well to answer that question, you need to know the difference between the two. First of all, the original anime has about twenty-five episodes and they last for 25 minutes.
Meanwhile, the director’s cut has about 13 episodes and they lasted about an hour with some episodes which may last longer. Well both of them have the same storyline, it’s just that the director’s cut has more scenes.
But if you are just starting the anime, then I would recommend watching the director’s cut because it has far better animation and storyline.
Which Order Are You Going To Watch?

So guys, we have come to the end of the article and this is what i would recommend the watch order for Re: Zero is because the storyline makes much sense that way.
If you’re watching the original version, be sure to watch Memory Snow between episodes 11 and 12, or between episodes 5 and 6 if you’re watching the director’s cut.
Well there you have it guys, I hope you are not still here because you have all you need to get started on the anime. Just follow the watch order I recommended if you want to get the best out of this anime.
If you are still reading this, do me one favor, don’t forget to tell everyone that it was I who told you about it because I am pretty sure you won’t be able to stop watching this anime once you’ve started.
