Hello my friends! Welcome to a new list of recommendations. If you are reading this article, this means you are a person who loves to see people suffering or an individual who likes to feel pain (I’m the second type). Either way, I hope this list can help you find a good anime with many character deaths that can entertain you!

26. Elfen Lied

I don’t know about you, but the opening in Latin is kind of creepy but cool at the same time. About the anime, well, there is a lot of blood.

The story begins in a kind of lab, where the subjects of scientific experiments are beings called Diclonius, creatures capable of creating vectors that can destroy the human body from the inside. One of them manages to escape, but after she falls from a rock into the sea, she loses her memory and develops a split in personality.

I said that there was a lot of blood in the previous anime. Well, same here. I’m traumatized by some of the deaths that happen in this series. Beware of umbrellas, guys!

There is a curse on the school in the town of Yomiyama. Apparently, a student died there thirty years ago. Now, Kouichi transfers to the same class as the dead student, in which there is a weird atmosphere among his classmates. He is immediately attracted to Mei, a mysterious girl who is invisible to the teachers and the other classmates. The two become close and their bond will give birth to a series of scary accidents.

Not only is this anime full of handsome boys, but also these attractive young men are historical warriors. Choose your fighter!

Chizuru’s father mysteriously disappeared during his trip to Kyoto, that’s why she embarks on a journey to find him. However, she will end up transformed into an orc in the middle of a fight with the famous Shinsengumi. Chizuru thinks that her condition was caused by her father, so she joins the Shinsengumi to find the cure for her strange disease.

A dangerous game run by a robot teddy bear is turned into a bloodbath. Who will manage to survive it?

Monokuma, a creepy robot teddy bear, has created a prison in which he confines a group of students. The prison is the Hope’s Peak Academy, an institution that the most talented children of the world can attend. The students can graduate only if they can kill one of the others without being found out during the class trial that takes place after each murder.

A famous series full of dramatic and raw scenes. An interesting plot and charismatic characters will not be lacking! (I highly recommend you read the manga after finishing the animated adaptation.)

The anime is set in a medieval imaginary world, in which monsters called yoma eat humans and assume their appearances. To protect humanity against these creatures, a secret organization has created superhuman warriors called Claymore. Villagers ask them for help to kill those monsters.

Who doesn’t know about Goku and his friends? About their incredible adventures? Well, most of us have watched the series during our childhood, so we don’t often remember all the cruelties that happen during the anime.

Goku, a child who has a monkey tail, joins Bulma, a teenage blue-haired girl, in her search for the magical Dragon Balls. The legend says that the one who will gather all the seven balls will summon the enormous dragon and have the chance to have his/her/their wish granted. The two will embark on an amazing adventure during which they will meet allies and enemies.

An epidemic starts to spread in a Japanese village isolated from the outside. The doctor of the village, Toshio, tries to find out the causes of the disease and a cure for it. He later joins the Demonic Company of the Moon, an army whose purpose is to fight against the vampires. Now that Yuuichiro is free, his goal is avenging his friend.

Ahhh, the yandere queen, Yuno, and the annoying main character, Yukki. Well, all I can say is that this series is an entertaining survival game.

Yukiteru is an introverted high schooler, who thinks he is just a spectator of everything that happens in the world and likes to record what he sees in his diary on his mobile phone. Deus, pitying Yukiteru’s condition, gives him the ability to predict the future events thanks to his diary. He is also thrown in this cruel and bloody game, whose winner will become Deus’ successor.

CLAMP my queens! I just love how they can intertwine characters and stories and create a big mess that makes sense! Don’t worry, if you haven’t read or watched anything CLAMP-related, you can still enjoy this series (and the sequel movie) as a standalone. It’s worth it!

The main character is Saya, a high school student who lives in a Shintoist temple with her father. She is a good girl who likes being helpful to others. However, she is also a powerful supernatural being, who uses her katana to protect the villagers from monsters who attack and eat humans.

Back in 2014, this series was as popular as Jujutsu Kaisen or Tokyo Revengers are now. I can’t believe it’s been 8 years!

Tokyo is thrown into chaos by violent murders. The police investigations find out that those mysterious deaths are caused by deadly creatures called Ghouls. Kaneki is a normal university student, who, together with his best friend, Hide, thinks that the Ghouls are blending with humans. This theory turns out to be true and Kaneki will witness it firsthand.

15. Parasyte - The Maxim

Personally, I have never watched this series before, but I have heard only praises about it! Give it a chance if you like the plot!

Parasites start falling from the sky. Their purpose is to replace man as the dominant species on the planet. Shinichi is a normal and clumsy boy, but his life changes when a parasite enters his body and takes control of his right hand. Over time, the boy learns to live with it, also giving it the name, Migi. However, other possessed people start to commit brutal murders for unknown reasons.

14. Higurashi When They Cry

This anime is a bit old, but if you like curses, mysteries and murders, then it’s the perfect choice for you!

In the small town of Hinamizawa, life goes on peacefully, but this peace is only an illusion. The town covers a past made up of violence and blood: five years ago, during a festival, a villager was killed and another one disappeared. The inhabitants thought that these events were caused by the curse of the monk, a local deity. However, it’s not so simple: there is so much more behind them.

13. 91 Days

This anime is so good! So well-written! So exciting! Totally worth it!

In the Lawless district, the mafia rules the streets. Avilio lived there until his family was killed during a clan war. Since then, the boy has remained hidden. Seven years later, Avilio receives a letter whose content ignites in him a desire for revenge. That’s why he infiltrates the ranks of the Vannetti family to kill the boss. His revenge will last 91 days!

12. The Promised Neverland

When I watched the first episode, I was all like “they are so cute, so happy”! Well, this impression lasted only fifteen minutes.

Emma and her friends live a peaceful life in an orphanage, away from the outside world. Their caretaker, Isabella, is kind, they eat delicious food, study and play in the garden everyday. But there are severe rules: they are forbidden to come close to the borders of the orphanage. One day, Emma and her friends, Norman and Ray, manage to get through the gates, but the reality that awaits them is shocking and terrifying.

11. Jujutsu Kaisen

Well well, this series is very popular lately and of course it’s one of the best ones of the last few years!

Itadori Yuuji seems like a normal student who is interested in the supernatural world. One day, together with the members of the occult club, he finds the mummified finger of Sukuna, a powerful deity. This event will create big troubles for him and his clubmates, so, to save the day, Yuuji is forced to swallow the finger, which will make him a dangerous demon.

Under the protection of the sorcerer, Satoru Gojo, Yuuji will enter the Tokyo Institute of Jujutsu, an organization that fights against curses. His fate is now clear: he will have to swallow all Sukuna’s fingers and then be killed in order to destroy once and for all the terrible deity.

This anime is… unusual and intense, that’s why it’s so interesting and original. If you want to understand what I’m talking about, you should watch it!

A thousand years in the future, five young students live peacefully in their village, a beautiful and utopian place ruled by severe laws. Like the other villagers, the young protagonists possess the power of the gods, that are telekinesis and telepathy. One day, the five of them begin to question the nature of the village, leading them on a journey to discover the history of mankind and save their world.

9. Akame Ga Kill

This anime is a massacre, like literally. I warn you, don’t get attached to any character.

In an empire ruled by a tyrant, the swordsman, Tatsumi, decides to leave his village to save it from its poverty. He will encounter the assassin, Akame, who was trained by the Empire to become a killer. She is part of the secret organization called Night Raid, a group that fights against the corruption of the Empire. Tatsumi will join them in their mission.

Okay, guys. The new arc will come out at year-end. This is the sign that you have to catch up to the main series before its release.

Ichigo Kurosaki is a high schooler who can see ghosts. One day, he and his family are attacked by a Hollow, an evil spirit, and are saved by the arrival of the Shinigami, Rukia Kuchiki. However, during the fight, she gets injured and, to defeat the Hollow, she decides to temporarily transfer her power to Ichigo. With his new strength, he manages to achieve the feat, but something goes wrong, making the boy absorb Rukia’s powers and become a Shinigami. This is how their adventure begins.

7. Naruto

I love Naruto, but I’ll never forgive Kishimoto for the death of one of my favorite characters. Anyway, this series is a classic by now. It’s a bit long, but beautiful.

Naruto Uzumaki is an orphan who lives in the Leaf Village. His dream is to become Hokage, the ninja at the head of the village. However, even if the boy tries his best, he is an outcast who is not very good at studying. Unknown to him, inside of his body, there is the spirit of the Nine-Tailed Fox, a powerful being who destroyed the village in the past. When Naruto enters the Ninja Academy, he is teamed up with Sasuke, his rival, and Sakura, the girl he has a crush on. The boy, together with his fellow ninjas, will face different battles and meet various people, while learning the truth behind his birth and the value of friendship.

6. Banana Fish

Whenever I think about this anime, all that comes to my mind is “emotional damage”. This series broke me, seriously.

In New York, a series of strange deaths occur. The police are investigating, but they still can’t find the cause. Ash is the leader of a young gang and when one man dies in an alley, he finds a mysterious drug called Banana Fish. This drug is also the substance that made his brother lose his mind after returning from war. Is the drug the cause of the suspicious deaths? Is it linked to the mafia clan that rules the underground of the city?

5. Death Note

I couldn’t not include this series in the list. Well, its fame precedes it.

The smart and cynical Light Yagami is bored by his normal high school life and is disgusted by a world full of injustice. His life changes when he finds the Death Note, a black notebook thrown into the human world by a god of death called Ryuk. The notebook hides a terrible power: the one who possesses it can kill a person in different ways by writing his/her/their name on it and the cause of the death. Light decides to use the Death Note to murder all the criminals and to create a just society. However, L, a famous private detective, is investigating the mysterious deaths of the criminals.

Everybody knows about Eren Jaeger and his revenge against titans. I don’t think I have to explain why this series is in the list!

A hundred years ago, mankind was almost exterminated by titans. A small part of human beings suvived and created cities surrounded by high walls. There, people live peacefully and haven’t seen any titans in centuries. Among them, live Eren, the main character of the story. One day, a titan taller than anyone has ever heard of, appears in front of the walls of the city and manages to enter it together with other ones, destroying the city. From this moment, Eren swears to avenge humanity.

3. Demon Slayer

If you are looking for a good anime to watch that is also a source of suffering, you have found it!

Tanjiro lives together with his family in an isolated house on a mountain. One day, he goes to the village to sell coal, but when he returns home, he finds out that his whole family has been killed, except for his sister Nezuko, who was turned into a demon. From this moment on, he decides to go look for a cure to save his sister. That’s how he joins the Demon Slayers

2. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood

One of the best anime EVER! It’s in my top three together with Hunter x Hunter and Detective Conan. If you haven’t watched it yet, please, watch it as soon as possible! It’s a real masterpiece.

The two brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric live together with their mom, Trisha, and have a great aptitude in the study of alchemy. When Trisha died of illness, the two of them try to bring her back to life with a human transmutation, but this action is a taboo that will make Edward lose an arm and a leg and Alphonse his whole body. That’s why they will start looking for the Philosopher’s Stone in order to repair their mistake.

The legend itself, my friends! There is no need to say it, because I think you already know that wherever Conan goes, somebody dies. It’s not that he brings bad luck, it’s just plot convenience!! And for those of you who don’t follow the main story and want to know, Conan is still a child! He isn’t back in his former body yet! The ending is still far away!

Shinichi Kudo is a talented and smart high schooler who wants to become a detective. One day, when he goes to the amusement park together with his childhood friend (and crush), Ran, he witnesses a mysterious exchange between a man and some men in black, who are part of a criminal organization. One of them finds Shinichi out and drugs him, making him faint.

The boy wakes up into the body of his child version and reaches his family friend, Professor Agasa, to ask for his help. The old man suggests that he should assume a new identity and name, that is Conan Edogawa, and stay in Ran’s house for the time being. In fact, Ran’s father, Kogoro, is a private detective and Conan thinks that, thanks to him, he will be able to find the men in black once again.
