Blackbeard's Father is Rock D. Xebec

Blackbeard’s Father is Rock D. Xebec? (THEORY)

Updated March 20, 2023 by Ernie

A simple name was revealed back in chapter 957. That’s all we needed to finally connect the dots surrounding one very mysterious character.

Rock D. Xebec is the full name of the infamous captain who terrorized the oceans. It might not sound like a crazy piece of information, but that name confirmed something we didn’t even think about before.

It confirmed (drum roll) that Rock is actually Blackbeard’s father!

THE SON OF ROCK D. XEBEC

From the location of his base of operation to the name of his ship, his obsession with the Yami Yami no mi, and his random moves that turned out to not be so random after all. Everything points to the same conclusion, the man he should’ve called Papa is none other than the strongest pirate that ever existed Rock D. Xebec.

1st Reason: Name of Blackbeard’s Ship

You all know how stingy the World Government is towards anything related to information. Just like for the Void Century, Joy Boy, or the Gomu Gomu no Mi, the higher-ups made it their life’s purpose to keep Rock D. Xebec a total secret.

And we can all agree that Xebec is not a common name, right? So, imagine our surprise when we realized that Blackbeard’s main ship is named after him. Yes, that’s right! Teach named it “The Saber of Xebec,” as mentioned in the Vivre Card One Piece Visual Dictionary.

Saber of Xebec

Coincidence? I think not.

Not to mention that Blackbeard has the same desire for world domination as Xebec and is practically using the same method, domination through power and violence.

Blackbeard

The second meaning behind the name of his ship could be a statement that he is acting as Xebec’s sword to achieve Xebec’s original goal. Saber…sword… get it? See the connection there. The sword of Xebec.

2nd Reason: Blackbeard’s Base of Operation

Beehive manga

Do you know where Rock’s base of operation was? I did some digging and found out it was in Beehive. Can you guys guess where the Blackbeard Pirates are currently residing? I’ll tell you since I didn’t make it obvious enough: it’s also in Beehive (Manga Chapter 957).

One coincidence would have been passable, but two? Hmm… I don’t know.

3rd Reason: Blackbeard’s Name And Age

Extra proof that supports our theory would be Teach’s name and age. Not everyone gets to have the middle name D, after all.

Blackbeard young

Blackbeard is now 40 years old, and considering that Xebec died 38 years ago, this means that Blackbeard would have been 2 years old at the time, which perfectly aligns with our timeline.

4th Reason: Blackbeard’s Obsession With The Yami Yami No Mi

Rock was OP, OP enough that the pirates that we today consider monsters, demons on Earth, used to follow his orders. I’m talking about Big Mom, Kaido, and Whitebeard. (Manga Chapter 957)

Rocks Pirates

It would be only fitting to think that Xebec possessed such an omniscient and terrifying power that he made those three kneel before him. Not only that but Garp and Roger were forced to join forces just to take him down. That says something, the king of pirates, wasn’t even strong enough to take down xebec and his crew, he had to join forces with arguably the strongest marine at the time. (Manga Chapter 930)

Garp Roger VS Rock

Wouldn’t it make sense that he possessed the power of darkness? The greatest and most devastating devil fruit, the Yami Yami no mi? By the way, let me ask you something. Is there a particular Devil Fruit that you would choose?

One Piece Chapter 440

When Blackbeard discovered that fact, he became obsessed with the fruit. Obsessed enough to kill his nakama to get his hands on it. (Manga Chapter 440)

More than that, his extensive knowledge about the devil fruit is also suspicious. He used the full extent of its ability as if he knew all about it beforehand.

5th Reason: Blackbeard’s Course of Action

Following that logic, every course of action taken by Blackbeard makes so much more sense now! He chose to join the Whitebeard crew knowing that they will eventually butt heads with Roger which would give him a chance to get revenge.

Blackbeard join Whitebeard 1

He unexpectedly was the main reason for Ace’s death. Since he can’t get to the dead father anymore, he decided to settle with the son.

He also kidnaps Garp’s disciple, Kobi, knowing that the old man would throw himself into his arms to save him. With Garp’s head, he could fulfill his vengeance. (Manga Chapter 1071)

One Piece Chapter 1071

The more I talk, the more it all makes sense: Blackbeard can ONLY be Xebec’s son.

But now, I’m just terrified of one thing. A battle between Garp and Blackbeard is bound to happen, and it’s highly likely that one of them won’t walk out of it alive.

Garp VS Blackbeard

Blackbeard’s role in the series is far from fulfilled, which means… Ah, I don’t want to think about it. Garp can’t Die!

Unanswered Questions of Mystery

But there is something I’m still curious about. Being only two at the time, there is no way Blackbeard remembered who his father was or how to use the fruit.

I wonder who told him the truth about his past… Who knows? Maybe it was Whitebeard or a member of the Roger crew. Perhaps he even has a long-lost brother or something.

Conclusion

Blackbeard Devil Fruit

Well, it turns out that Blackbeard has a super kakkoii father, but you know who made an even flashier reveal?

He has a scar on his face, a missing arm, and red hair and his father might be IMU! Yeah, you heard right, Shanks dad could be the ultimate final boss.

I mean it was already proven that he is most probably a celestial dragon.

However, the fact remains that he is an outcast, a villain, a pirate, and yet he still gets super special privileges since he might be one of the extremely rare human beings who can get an audience with the Gorosei.

Why do you think that is?
