Record of Ragnarok - Why was it removed?

(Shūmatsu no Walküre,) known as RECORD OF RAGNAROK, is an anime series created by Shinya Umemura, Ajichika, and Takumi Fukui. Based on the fight between God and humans in order to decide whether humanity should exist or it should receive another chance to prove its worth.

If humanity wants another chance they have to at least score 7 victories in order to gain another chance to live. Record of Ragnarok Is now officially removed from Netflix India but the anime is still streaming on Netflix US.

The Background

In the fifth fight, appearing a god who is similar to the Indian god ‘SHIV,‘ and his name in the anime is ‘SHIVA'(シヴァ) is very inappropriate. For Indians, it is quite disrespectful towards their god.

The anime is released on OTT platforms but the anime has violated the rule of the OTT platform. One of the rules in OTT platforms says that religions should not be violated in any of the animations but RECORD OF RAGNAROK didn’t follow the rule and now it is being removed from Netflix India.

The US Hindu activist Rajan Zed gave notice to “Warner Bros” to not include Hindu lord ‘SHIV’ in an anime because it is really offensive for the Indian people as they worship lord ‘SHIV’.

The Consequences

People are blaming Japan for the violations of the rule as they didn’t pay attention to the rule while writing the script for the anime and while creating the manga. The first time the manga was published by COAMIX and Tokuma Shoten. The first volume was launched in 2018 and there were 11 volumes. And it was launched in a magazine called COMIC ZENON“.

This news is not really a big deal for the anime community; the anime will be available in other countries and people can still watch it. But this is not possible in Indian people as they can get mad and even file a case against it. And Indian fans also want the Lord SHIVA part to be removed from the series.

Conclusion

Anime is something that people enjoy watching, but if religions are violated in such form then it is quite controversial.

RECORD OF RAGNAROK has an interesting plot. People will enjoy the fight between humans and God’s but no one would like to see their religion being violated.
