Himeno - Chainsaw Man Wiki
Himeno is a Public Safety Devil Hunter who works under Makima’s Squad. She’s the partner of Aki Hayakawa who made her debut in Chainsaw Man in Chapter 10. When Denji was going to get eaten by a blood-hungry Leech devil, Aki along with his squad, appeared and saved him!
Before meeting Aki for the first time in the graveyard, Himeno was a part of a squad. Kishibe being the Devil Hunter from Division 1, introduced Aki to Himeno as her new buddy. (Chapter 14) Now let’s dive into further details about Himeno!

Personality
Himeno is shown to be very mature and one of the most experienced superiors. She’s an upbeat person who’s capable of staying calm even in the most stressful situations. Some would say that it’s all thanks to her partnering up with Aki. In fact, she’s quite warm towards him. No doubt, Himeno is mature and she knows just how to motivate her juniors. For instance, with the battle against the Eternity Devil, Himeno tried to motivate Denji by offering him a french kiss if he ends up defeating the devil. It implies that she’s quite perceptive of the people around her. She tried to take the best possible results from Denji. (Chapter 14)
Himeno is very efficient in performing her duties as a Devil Hunter. She uses her Ghost Devil to respond to insignificant devils. (Chapter 15)
Like Aki Hayakawa, She has a stern side and a little tolerance from juniors that cause trouble. For instance, she quickly took out Kobeni Higashiyama when she attempted to stab Denji. (Chapter 15)
Being an empath and caring person, Himeno cares a lot about the well-being of her subordinates. She didn’t betray Denji during their first mission together. (Chapter 17) In a flashback scene, Himeno’s patience was seen when her friend’s ex’s girlfriend slapped her and lashed out at her. (Chapter 16)
Although she might look cheerful yet she saw so many people dying who worked in the same department. It depicts her strong side. She keeps a pessimistic view of the world. Himeno becomes a nicotine addict as she needed to have something to depend on during the hard times including the deaths of her partners. So, slowly she got hooked to nicotine. She even pressurized Aki to smoke with her and told him that Devil Hunters do not live that long anyway. (Chapter 16)
Another old teaching of her master, strongly internalized is known by Himeno. People who can do unusual things due to their sense of unpredictability take down their opponents can master this skill. (Chapter 16) Despite being self-sufficient she depends on Aki a lot. And since she’s her Nakama, she values him more than anyone!
Strengths and Skills
Ghost Devil Contract
Himeno has the ability to form contracts with different devils. For instance, her well-known devil the Ghost Devil. She made this contract by sacrificing her right eye. (Chapter 15)
Ghost Arm
Himeno can summon the Ghost Devil which is invisible and ephemeral. She can take this Ghost Arm inside the opponent’s body to destroy them. This arm helped during the Eternity Devil Arc. It left many large wounds inside the body. (Chapter 17)
In exchange for her body, she can easily summon multiple arms against her opponents.
Hand-to-Hand Combat
Despite being good with summoning the Ghost Devil and having the guts to sacrifice her right eye, she’s really good with hand-to-hand combat. Her physique is quite tough too which leads to power punches and kicks.
Himeno is a skilled fighter. She easily incapacitated Kobeni and after that, he was paralyzed. So, this is one of the pieces of evidence explaining her combating skills.

Past/History
Intro Arc
Himeno was a part of some other squad before Devil Hunters. She met Aki Hayakawa for the very first time in the graveyard. Kishibe introduced both of them there and that’s how they became a part of the Public Safety Devil Hunters.
In one of their early Patrols, she asks Aki if he smokes and then says that he should get into it since the Devil Hunters don’t live that long anyway. Himeno concludes that he’s in a special squad because he wants to take revenge on his parents from Gun Devil. (Chapter 16)
One day, Aki and Himeno meet the girlfriend of Himeno’s ex. She slaps Himeno and walks away. After explaining such a situation to him, Aki runs after that woman and sticks a piece of gum on her hair in a childish manner. That’s when Himeno bursts into laughter.
Both of them also visit the Tenten Chinese Restaurant to grab a meal. There she remembers a saying of her old master that how the scariest devil hunters aren’t brave to other devils but the most insane! Then she convinces Aki to smoke with her so their relationship becomes strong. And Aki accepts to smoke! (Chapter 16)
During the Bat Devil Arc, Himeno was accompanying Aki Hayakawa as he saved Denji from the Leech Devil. The teamwork of Aki and Himeno can be seen in Chapter 10 where Aki tells him to look out for more Devils around them.
Himeno accompanied Aki to the hospital to keep an eye on Denji and watch over Power who was going to betray Denji. (Chapter 11) Both Aki and Himeno took down a devil who was fed on the flesh of Gun Devil. She doubts that the devil ate the flesh purposefully. (Chapter 13)
Then, later on, Himeno became a part of the six-man team to track down the devil who also ate a piece of Gun Devil’s flesh. She enters and investigates the Morino Hotel along with the team
Eternity Devil Arc
When approaching the Morino Hotel, Aki becomes angry at Denji and Power over a prank they pulled. Aki doesn’t were like the non-serious behavior of both of them.
Himeno, being a professional, sets up a deal for anybody who kills the devil inside the hotel will get a “Kiss on the cheek” from her. She was just trying to motivate Denji so he could get his act together and be useful. Hirokazu protests and asks her to add “lips” instead of “cheeks” for extra motivation. (Chapter 14)
On the other hand, Denji tries to be loyal to Makima but he can’t just stop himself from thinking about lewd stuff. So, he asks Himeno if she will kiss him with the “tongue” included. Then, he gets excited and motivated to kill the devil.
The team moves through the corridors of the Hotel, Himeno says that nothing is more fun than teasing Denji and Hirokazu and later on seeing them compete with one another.
Aki then asks Himeno about the abilities of the recruits. Himeno tells him that Hirokazu lacks in ability but makes up in the field of drive whereas, Kobeni is docile and timid yet still talented. For Power, she doubts her loyalty and for Denji some factors are unknown. When Himeno questions Aki if they will survive, Aki ignores and suddenly they see a walk-head emerging from the corridors of Hotel Morino. (Chapter 14)
Himeno catches the head with her Ghost Devil while it was about to attack Kobeni. That’s when Power cuts it into two pieces. After getting rid of that devil, Himeno explains her ability to use the Ghost Devil that can grab opponents easily. After that, all of them look for the flesh of Gun Devil inside the dead devil. Since they find no signs, the adventure continues. (Chapter 15)
Power and Himeno go through some rough fights since Power mocks her for revealing her Ghost Devil so easily. Himeno picks up power with the Ghost Devil’s hand and asks them to just naturally get along with her.
Hirokazu was the first one to notice that they’re still on the eighth floor after going through the stairs. They all notice that something isn’t wrong. It turns out that the Devil traps them. Himeno warns everyone to not get feared since it’s the favorite food of the devil. (Chapter 15)
Denji falls asleep and wakes up to the greetings of Himeno explaining to him the whole situation. Aki still looks for the Devil while Hirokazu is having a mental breakdown along with Kobeni. Power is lying next to the bed of Denji and vents out about her hilarious idea of becoming the Prime Minister. Denji tells Himeno to not worry since she’s just like that.
Aki, Denji, and Power take turns to guard Kobeni and Hirokazu. Himeno smokes her last cigarette. While Aki comes and asks for another cigarette and then shares Himeno’s smoked cigarette. (Chapter 16)
Aki informs them that the devil they thought they killed is still alive and has grown to a giant size covering most of the corridors. Himeno gets curious about what kind of devil could that be? And that’s when Kobeni emerges from her room and asks Denji to be eaten by the Devil so they all could get rid of this trouble. Aki disables Kobeni and Himeno knocks her out using her elbow. Eternity Devil finds it funny while Aki is unable to summon his Fox Devil. Himeno tries to chisel the Devil with her Ghost Devil but it makes the devil grow into a larger size. (Chapter 17)
The group discusses the deal that would let Himeno escape. Aki is against killing Denji since the devil would be benefitted that way. Himeno also agrees with him. Aki wants to use his powers to get rid of the devil but since the conditions are too critical, everyone disagrees. Due to the fear of Kobeni and Hirokazu, Devil’s growth rises. Then Himeno says that the only way everything will be solved is by sacrificing Denji. (Chapter 17)
The Devil with his raised powers tilts the corridor and changes its shape in the form of the tunnel that leads to her mouth.
Aki was restrained by Himeno to use his sword and she also apologizes to Denji. Kobeni and Hirokazu try to betray the team by stabbing Denji. During that time, Aki falls in front of Denji and saves him. Himeno faces a breakdown in which she remembers her deceased partners. At last, Denji decides to throw himself in the mouth of the Eternity Devil. He threw himself for a reason, which was nothing more than to cause pain to the devil so it wishes that it was dead. Denji transforms into Chainsaw Man and battles inside the mouth of the Eternity Devil! (Chapter 18)
Himeno while watching this, including her partners’ deaths all were reminded of her master who said that the scariest devil hunters are those who are the craziest. (Chapter 19)
While Denji’s in trouble and almost breaks his neck, Himeno pulls him out of the devil’s mouth and repairs his chainsaw cord. She gets very impressed by his skills and starts believing that he could defeat the Gun Devil. (Chapter 19) This battle continues for three more days until the Eternity Devil is completely defeated.
Himeno appears from the Hotel and orders Kobeni and Hirokazu to tell the Public Safety Devil Hunters about this incident. Later, she and Power take Aki and Denji to the hospital. (Chapter 20)
After some time, Aki and Himeno repair a piece of Gun Devil from the corpse of the devil they previously fought. Then Himeno suggests throwing a welcoming party for a newbie. Aki says that he’d join only if Makima is joining. Himeno likes the plan since she wants to extort some information out of her, such as why Makima is so interested in Denji. (Chapter 20)
At the party, Himeno is already drunk due to drinking so much beer and then she informs everyone that Makima will be late. Suddenly, Denji reminds her of the promise both of them made. Himeno says that she’s too shy to kiss while she’s sober. So, she will give him an intense kiss when she’s less sober. While the newbies are being introduced to the team, Himeno gets super shocked to learn that Denji is only sixteen and he makes sure that he’s sober all the time. A recruit working with them, Fushi is asked about the recruit. He offers them condolences as they’re already dead. Denji still waits for his kiss and is being told that Himeno kisses everyone when drunk. So it affirms him that the kiss is guaranteed.
Not being able to hold her curiosity, Himeno asks Makima about Denji. Makima says that she’ll reveal only a bit of information if they beat her in drinking. Himeno volunteers but is defeated easily. (Chapter 21) Suddenly, Himeno approaches Denji and kisses him while he realizes that something isn’t right. He comes to know that she’s vomiting while kissing him. Later on, he accompanies her to the toilet with Hirokazu.
After the party, Makima looks for Denji but Fushi reveals that he’s being carried on the back of Himeno. The very next day, Denji wakes up at the apartment of Himeno with her leaning over him and forcibly feeding him more alcohol while kissing. She asks Denji if he wants to “do it”.
Denji remains silent but lets her strip him. He reminds himself how he wanted Makima to be his first. But when Himeno reaches for his pants, she finds out there’s a lollipop in his pocket “Chupa-Chups“. Then she falls asleep again. The next morning, Himeno prepares breakfast for him and they converse about different things on her balcony. That helps them in getting closer. (Chapter 22) Himeno asks Denji whether she wants him to set him up with Makima. She clearly realizes that he has genuine feelings for Makima. And Denji agrees, but on the condition that he will also have to help Himeno in setting up with Aki. And that, he along with Aki should occasionally come to her place to have breakfast.
Katana Man Arc
Power asks Himeno at a restaurant in front of Aki and Denji whether the two of them hooked up last night. Himeno denies and says that he’s quite a gentleman. (Chapter 23)
Across the restaurant, a man starts lecturing them about a person’s taste and brings his grandfather by whom Denji was employed. He pulls out his gun and shoots Denji. Himeno lies in the debris of the restaurant while bleeding which shocks Aki. And when Aki uses his Fox Devil, the man comes out of the fox’s head and transforms into a Katana Man. Aki pulls out his sword and defends Himeno while asking Power to stop her bleeding.
Power nurses Himeno and realizes that she needs a doctor as soon as possible. Aki tries his best to defeat Katana Man but he gets cut by him. Himeno asks Power to save Aki but she denies. Then Himeno asks Ghost Devil to come out and Save Aki. The Ghost Devil also denies it as the Katana Man is quite scary. (Chapter 25)
Himeno uses the full body of the Ghost Devil against the Katana Man. She tries to harm the Katan Man but Akane takes out the snake devil to help Katana Man in swallowing the Ghost Devil. Her entire body vanishes leaving all of her clothes behind. In her very last moments, she uses her Ghosh Devil’s hand to regenerate the Chainsaw Man’s cord so that Denji could fight in her place.
Later when Denji’s in a hospital he remembers that Himeno was the first person who called him her friend. But he doesn’t feel anything and then starts to wonder if he’s a heartless jerk. (Chapter 29)
Since Akane uses the Ghost Devil after Himeno’s death, Aki suddenly gets a cigarette from the devil that says “Easy Revenge“. Then ends up decapitating the Ghost Devil.
After Katana Man is defeated, Denji throws a tournament in Himeno’s memory where he and Aki torture Katana Man until he screams. The two of them enjoyed doing this since they thought it was a way of giving Himeno respect. (Chapter 38)
