Appearance

inosuke
inosuke

In terms of height, Inosuke is as tall as his two main companions, Zenitsu and Tanjiro. Inosuke has a well toned and athletic build; with well defined abdominal muscles, shredded chest area, as well as smooth and robust arms. Inosuke’s body is always in an exceptional condition, and is ideal for his dynamic and elastic fighting style.

Despite his masculine and intimidating upper body, Inosuke possesses an incredibly pretty and attractive facial structure. [Demon Slayer Manga : Chapter 26] Inosuke has large green eyes that light up at the sight of a brawl. A small black pupil adorns the surrounding greenery of an iris, while the vast surface area of his Sciera acts as a canvas for the art contained in Inosuke’s eye.

The young man also holds two thin layers of hair on his upper and lower eyelids, with some subtle prickliness added for flair. Despite his barbaric attitude on the dinner table, he holds a delicate and well-shaped mouth that could reveal an equally shocking and attractive grin of flawlessly white teeth behind it.

Inosuke

Inosuke’s heavy and full head of hair helps in covering a rather sizable forehead. Inosuke holds a rather rich-looking mane that stretches up to his brawny shoulders. The locks of hair spread apart over his head in an intense black colour and as they go beyond his neck, transition into a pleasing blue that fades just at the tips. The locks of hair also stretch outwards near the blue tips, giving it a healthy and full outer appearance .

Over his large forehead, forms a large and fluffy fringe with two locks intertwining right near the eye level. Two more sections of hair each cover a side of the forehead inverting towards the fringe, covering up the space of an otherwise empty expanse of the temple.

According to Doma, Inosuke’s mother, Kotoha possessed a similar complexion to her son, however having a softer look to her. The similarity is pretty noticeable upon comparison. She possesses the same elegantly large irises with a distinct shade of green. The same sort of pale skin adorns their faces; Kotoha’s depicted more smoother compared to the Inosuke’s usually rugged face. Inosuke also seems to have inherited his slightly bushy and arching eyebrows from his mother as well. Through his time raised by the boars, some features may have altered slightly, but most of Inosuke’s looks are still very similar and comparable to his mother’s.

Inosuke's mother

An integral part of Inosuke’s appearance comes in his trademark Boar Mask. Inosuke wears it as a nod to his upbringing amongst the wild beasts in his childhood. Inosuke quite possibly wanted to pay homage to the Boar Mother who acted as his foster mother, who was actually the Boar who the mask was made out of. To allow for better sight, Hashibira modified the eye section of the mask to his liking. [Demon Slayer Manga : Chapter 159]  On the battlefield and outside of it, the mask is an indispensable aspect of Inosuke’s wardrobe, who takes it off mostly just to eat or sleep.

The mask could have also given Inosuke a space to collect his thoughts, as seen in the Rehabilitation Training Arc when he quietly lays in the bed with his mask on during most of the first half. He also seems to get pretty agitated when the mask is taken away from his possession, as seen when Doma snatched it off him during their battle. [Demon Slayer Manga : Chapter 160]

Inosuke

Inosuke’s sense of fashion sees him alter the norms of the traditional Demon Slayer Corps dress code. He uses the same airy variant of Hakama pants like most of the Demon Slayers, but has made it his own through a few variations. Around the dark bluish trousers, Inosuke ties around a brownish coat of fur as a substitute for the usual alternative of a belt.

Another component that makes Inosuke stand out is him opting out of wearing a shirt, going shirtless instead. Many of the Corps members do accompany a buttoned up shirt equipped with a Mandarin Collar, but this is clearly not the case for Inosuke. It’s natural to assume that Inosuke does this in order to flaunt his shredded physique, but this is apparently not the case. In a similar fashion to the sword makers, [Demon Slayer Manga : Chapter 51]

Corps uniform tailors do not like Inosuke. It turns out that Inosuke’s wild nature can’t be contained in a freshly tailored outfit. His tendency to rip apart and decimate the hard work of the tailors means that he has chosen not to wear any upper clothing in his outfits at all; to the advantage of both parties. [Demon Slayer First Fanbook]

Inosuke

On top of the Demon Slayer uniform, both Tanjiro and Zenitsu (as well as many other characters throughout the series) wear a Haori as an added layer of clothing. Inosuke has also avoided this option in his outfits, going for the more minimal clothing approach here as well. However, in contrast to the other two, Inosuke did grow up in harsher and wilder conditions from a young age. Therefore, his body may have been accustomed to harsher conditions in a more unconventional degree that allows him to survive with a basic layer of clothing.

When it comes down to footwear, each character in the series seems to have a sock style that represents their personality and individual style. Tanjiro uses bandage-like cloths, while Rengoku equips bulky flame-themed socks for coverage. Inosuke characteristically uses a fur theme as he utilizes it to seemingly tie the flat-shaped sandals to the soles of his feet. The colour of the hide also blends seamlessly with the colour of the Hakama Pants, covering the distance from it towards his soles. There is also some space left on the front and back, using only the mid section to tie the footwear.

Inosuke

Inosuke is portrayed as rather healthy and chubby as a child. Always with drool on the side, a clueless Inosuke is oblivious to the pain his mother is going through. However, his bright features often helped to put a smile on her face during their short time together.

Due to the investigations occurring at the Entertainment District, the trio had to go undercover at a certain brothel in the district. To disguise them, a heavy layer of cosmetics is applied to the boys including Inosuke. The brothel refuses to take them in initially due to the ridiculousness of their makeup. [Demon Slayer Manga : Chapter 71] However, the ladies at the brothel are bemused after they see a cleaned up Inosuke, even mistaking him for a girl due to his feminine looks.

This is also one of the times where we see Inosuke’s upper area actually adorned with some fabric. He can also be seen deriving from his usual topless clothing during his stay at the House with the Wisteria Family Crest as well as during the Rehabilitation Training at the Butterfly Mansion.

Personality

inosuke 2

Most of Inosuke’s primary personality was based on the influence of boars. Having been raised at a young age through his teenage years, he most likely had minimal to no human interaction during that time. Due to this fact, Inosuke is also illiterate, being unable to read or write. This was revealed after Kamado Tanjiro asked the boar headed man to spell his name on their initial interaction, but was startled and mentioned that the moniker was labelled on his loincloth. [Demon Slayer Manga : Chapter 27]

Characteristically, he also has a tendency to mess up most common names throughout the series. He messes up Tanjiro’s name countless times, calling him Kamaboko Gonpachiro, Itadaki Tontaro and even Monjiro. On occasion, he may even call Zenitsu, Monitsu.  As revealed in a Taisho Secrets segment, Inosuke is rumoured to get an individual’s name correct once every seven attempts. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 32]

However, this rule doesn’t necessarily apply to everyone. For instance, Hashibira rarely messed up the name of Shinobu Kocho, despite using it multiple times throughout the series. This goes on to show that Inosuke may actually call a person by their actual name if he holds a sense of veneration or respect for them.

shinobu

Inosuke’s time with the boars meant that he could often be hostile at first when interacting with fellow humans. Seeking to become stronger and always looking for a fight, Inosuke often views everyone he comes across as an enemy. He got into a fistfight with Tanjiro during their first encounter and even insisted on killing Nezuko without knowing anything about her background. Later in the series, Inosuke often tries to stir up trouble so he can end up fighting Tanjiro in some way shape or form. But Tanjiro’s kindness overpowers Inosuke’s antics most of the time.

This drive to be the best also leaves Inosuke underestimating a lot of crucial scenarios. He often rushes into the battlefield with zero hesitation, giving him no time to evaluate the level and potential of an opponent. These also tend to leave him severely injured for a long periods of time. However, even when injured, his drive is still unstoppable, as seen when he challenges Giyuu to a duel, still bearing the dense scars from the battle against the Spider Demon. [Demon Slayer Manga : Chapter 38]

Inosuke tends to seek validation and demands respect from the people around him. He can be seen yelling to the passengers on the Mugen Train to glorify him as he squares off against Enmu’s Blood Demon Art. [Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train] He also refers to himself as ‘Lord Inosuke’ in the third person, further emphasizing a sort of superiority complex.

inosuke

A lot of Inosuke’s character traits advance with the series, as well as his friendship with the characters.

He admits to signs of defeat and weakness more often. During the Rehabilitation Training in the Butterfly Mansion, Inosuke is humbled after his encounter with the Demon Father. Although low on morale and bedridden during the initial stages, his fiery spirit kicks in after seeing Tanjiro’s training and also some subtle taunting from Shinobu. During the battle between Akaza and Rengoku, Inosuke also admits that he’ll be crushed to death by the inhuman speed of the brawl, after attempting to butt in earlier on. [Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train]

With Tanjiro’s influence, Insouke becomes more used to normal human interactions. Inosuke tries to instigate a dispute in the Wisteria Family House by plucking some tempura off of Tanjiro’s plate. Inosuke is left annoyed after Tanjiro actually offers him some more food. The little interactions with Tanjiro make him feel rather giddy and strange. Inosuke never really had any other humans become close to him after his mother passed away. These moments shared alongside Tanjiro and even Zenitsu help Inosuke develop a sense of companionship towards his friends, as well as gain a more sentimental nature.

However, his ego still doesn’t fade away from these moments. He still retains these slightly arrogant characteristics to give him a better edge as a Demon Slayer. He develops a commanding presence on the battlefield, being able to stay alert and being a key component for the slaying Enmu on the Infinity Train. As opposed to the early struggles on Natagumo Mountain, his fights against Upper Ranks like Enmu and Doma see him strategizing and plotting firm tactics mid-battle.

Strength And Skills

Inosuke

Inosuke developed his own Breathing technique and exercised the discipline of Total Concentration Breathing independently. He used his exposure to life amongst the boars as a tool for developing this method. He is also a prolific swordsman; an important asset for a Demon Slayer. Inosuke was one of the few participants who passed the Final Selection phase, despite having zero formal training compared to the others.

Inosuke often works effectively when operating independently, as seen in his fight against the Horned Demon inside the Tsuzumi Mansion. [Demon Slayer Manga : Chapter 23] His extensive training and progression throughout the series have also made him a formidable threat against higher rank demons, including members of the Twelve Kizuki. Instances of this include his battle versus Gyutaro and Daki, and also the one against Doma.

Inosuke’s extreme superhuman agility along with his grounded senses make him a naturally threatening opponent in combat. Being able to square off against Muzan Kibutsuji is no simple task; Inosuke being one to have the bragging rights to it, as he fought against the Demon King alongside his comrades.

inosuke

Beastly Traits

Inosuke grew up around boars, which allowed him to develop a vicious and almost animalistic fighting style around their influence. Tanjiro once even remarked that his unorthodox style is similar to a “four-legged beast”. Inosuke often launches at targets aggressively from a tight angle and uses a scattered pattern of moves, making it incredibly hard to guess what he will do next.

Inosuke

Superhuman Flexibility

Various times throughout the series, Inosuke leaves the people around him stunned by his unrestricted flexibility

During his primary encounter with Tanjiro and the group, he extends his head so far under that it arches over and stretches under his feet. [Demon Slayer Manga : Chapter 25] He also displays the strength to disjoint any bones in his body at will, including his arm. [Demon Slayer Manga : Chapter 158] [Demon Slayer Manga : Chapter 159] In the fight against Daki and Gyataro, he was amazingly able to relocate his heart a few inches in order to dodge an attack. [Demon Slayer Manga : Chapter 94]

Inosuke

Unrestricted Strength

Being able to deal with two regular-sized Nichirins at once requires great physical strength, one that Inosuke is never short on. His toned complexion is an indicator of a person who can slice through with two Nichirins at an incredible pace.

A notable instance where Inosuke exercised his raw strength came in the Hashira Training Arc, where he moved a sizable boulder using just his hands. He has also shown how potent he can be when he is using his Katana, as seen when he continuously diced away on the flesh Enmu created, while also ripping apart the ceilings of carriages on the Infinity Train. [Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train]

inosuke

Augmented Senses

Many wild beasts hold a very sensitive gift of touch, being able to sense micro vibrations disturbing the atmosphere around them. Inosuke has applied these features to his own fighting style. He also has skin that’s naturally susceptible to these movements, allowing him to adopt it in Beast Breathing: Spatial Awareness. The seventh phase of his self-taught discipline allowed him to locate members of the Spider Demon family who were covered heavily under the putrid stench of the Natagumo Mountain.

He can also use his acute bodily functions to note if a target is aiming or observing him, making his awareness of his surroundings extraordinary. [Demon Slayer Manga : Chapter 150] It almost gives him a sort of sixth sense, allowing him to determine things outside of the average human capacity.

This also gives him the ability to determine the degree of any opposing attacks, as seen when he takes charge of an instance when Daki lowers down on the intensity of his blows. [Demon Slayer Manga : Chapter 91] His instincts also allow him to sense the motive behind an entity when they are nearby, as seen when he dodges a deadly blow from Gyutaro. Another instance showed him being able to sense life that was being held captive inside by the Cave Obi. [Demon Slayer Manga : Chapter 78]

inosuke

Rapid Pace and Agility

From the first moment Inosuke is introduced, his speedy characteristics are visibly seen. He races through the expansive corridors of the Tsuzumi Mansion at a rapid pace, while knocking down numerous Shoji doors in the process. He also displays the same attributes extensively against the Horned Demon; the first time we see Inosuke in a one-on-one scenario. He is able to utilize his toned and muscular structure to move about easily and make slight work of the Demon.

Just like his other skills, his speed also takes a turn for the better after numerous battles in addition to the rehabilitation and training conducted under the Demon Slayer Corps. He is able to move about quickly and slash the appendages created by Enmu on the Infinity Train, while also being able to grind through Daki’s Obi while defending the captives simultaneously.

His speed also was a key contributing factor to the group’s closing success against Daki; helping Zenitsu cut off the Upper Rank’s head before it could strategise. [Demon Slayer Manga : Chapter 77]

He is also able to match Doma’s incredible speediness during their fight, while even rescuing Kanao Tsuyuri’s Nichirin with the Upper Rank barely even noticing. Later in the Arc, he even comes close in pace to Muzan Kibutsuji and even a transformed Kamado Tanjiro. [Demon Slayer Manga : Chapter 201]

inosuke

Poison Resistance

Inosuke has some immunity to certain substances like Daki’s poison. Inosuke’s immune system was able to repel the substance that would normally cause casualties to a human Demon Slayer. However, this also acts out of Inosuke’s favour, as he is unable to absorb any of the nutritional value from Shinobu’s medicine; as stated by Aoi Kanzaki.  Therefore, Inosuke does have the risk of sickness if he is exposed to poison of a varying nature. [Demon Slayer Manga : Chapter 100]

inosuke

Repetitive Action

This procedure is similar to Total Concentration Breathing and is exercised by a handful of Demon Slayers within the Corps. The method helps one channel their emotions into a single outlet and to convert it into a set of repetitive and commanding sets of moves. Inosuke analyzed the discipline after seeing Kamado Tanjiro execute it. Hashibira comes up with an absurd training mantra using an analogy of the Tempura he ate and garners enough strength to move a sizable boulder,  surprising  Zenitsu Agasuma in the process. [Demon Slayer Manga : Chapter 135]

inosuke

Unshakable Tenacity

Inosuke’s fiery personality and ego fuel his undying will and unwavering motive in combat. No matter the size or the degree of the foe, Inosuke remains confident, giving him the psychological edge to fire through most opponents. Inosuke pulling Tanjiro through the battle on the Infinity Train was crucial in putting an end to Enmu’s attack until the last moment to finally put an end to his villainy. Inosuke had enough fighting spirit in him to fend off against the inevitable Muzan himself, a feat that he may have the right to brag about.

Fighting Discipline

Beast Breathing is a Breathing Technique that was developed and mastered by Inosuke Hashibira himself. Inosuke’s background of life in the wilderness surrounded by wild beasts served as major inspiration to the construction of the technique.

It is also an indirect derivative of the Wind Breathing technique which is notably used by Sanemi Shinazugawa, the Wind Hashira. This is due to both disciplines making extensive application of the sense of touch.

Weapons

double nirichin blades

Double Nichirin Blades

Unlike most members of the Corps who wield just a single Nichirin sword, Inosuke prefers to carry two. The two swords are of regular size.

The speciality behind these, however, is their jagged nature. After receiving the fresh blades, Inosuke purposely chips his swords with a rock to resemble the dental structure of a wild beast. Inosuke says that it gives the feeling of a “thousand blades” that deals extra damage while tearing into an opponent’s flesh.

thousand blades

The Nichirin are of greyish complexion. Inosuke prefers to sheath his swords using cloth instead of the more traditional options.

Due to his tendency to break up a carefully crafted blade, he isn’t the most well-received amongst sword forgers. This is seen when he enrages Kozo Kanamori, who crafted his blades after they were broken in Mount Natagumo. [Demon Slayer Manga : Chapter 51]

Facts

  •       Inosuke’s Japanese Voice Actor, Yoshisugu Matsuoka, and his English Voice Actor, Bryce Papenbrook both share a similarity in acting  pretty notable roles. In the popular anime series, Sword Art Online, both of them act as the voice for Kirito Kazuto.
  •       Near the end of the series, during the Infinity Castle Arc, Hashibira seems to be finally able to pronounce his friend’s names without error. He is finally seen calling Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Kanao Tsuyuri by their actual names.
  •       In terms of preferred food, Inosuke seems to enjoy Tempura alongside his meal. He munched on it at Wisteria Family House and also used it to come up with a training mantra.
  •       Most members of the Demon Slayer Corps, including Tanjiro, are given messenger crows to help them communicate with the necessary parties during their expeditions away. However, we rarely get to see Hashibira’s messenger bird, apparently because Inosuke tried to eat it once. He once even remarked “Let’s eat this thing” after seeing Tanjiro’s one.

Background/History

inosuke background

According to Doma, Inosuke’s mother, Kotoha Hashibira had him around the age of 17-18. She married into an abusive household where she was regularly mistreated by her husband and her mother-in-law. [Demon Slayer Manga : Chapter 160 (Page 5)] Having enough of this tyranny, she ran away with an infant Inosuke and took refuge in Doma’s cult. She soon came to realize the true nature of the Upper Ranked Demon and attempted to flee away with Inosuke. After being forced near a cliff, she heartily threw Inosuke into the river below as a last resort. Doma managed to put an end to Kotoha’s life and consume her later.

It’s not confirmed how, but Inosuke was later adopted and raised by a boar mother who may have lost one of her children. Most of Inosuke’s traits, fighting styles, and even his iconic boar mask was modelled around this crucial period in his life.

inosuke yelling

Later in his childhood, he got involved with an elderly man who fed and treated him similar to a child. His grandson, Takaharu, often shooed Inosuke away constantly, thinking he was some eccentric wild animal due to his boar mask. The elderly man even taught Inosuke how to spell his name as spotted on his loincloth.

The enraged Takaharu claims that there’s no use in teaching a boar to read, but is terrified after the angry Inosuke yells at him moments later. [Demon Slayer Manga : Chapter 71.5: The Inosuke Tales] Inosuke most likely learned his initial language skills through the poems read to him by the above-mentioned grandpa.

Inosuke managed to bump into a member of the Corps around the time the Final Selection happened. As usual, he brawled with the Demon Slayer and took his weapon as a token of the fight. He was intrigued by the concept behind the Corps and decided to take part in the Final Selection as it would present him with a solid platform to become stronger by battling Demons.

inosuke final selection

At the end of the Selection, Inosuke is one of the only 5 remaining participants who managed to survive. However, we do not see Inosuke on-screen during the time where the 4 survivors including Tanjiro choose the material for their Nichirin blades. This is because he was impatient and left the site early after completing the exam.

Inosuke got into a brawl with a member of the Demon Slayer Corps that wandered into the mountain he was residing in. After defeating the member who was on his way to the Final Selection Phase, Inosuke took his weapon as a token of war and even decided to take part in the Final Selection.

Using his natural survival skills and instinct, Inosuke was able to pass the tough exam without any formal training. The Selection has a pass rate of just 5 surviving participants and Inosuke managed to be one of them.

inosuke demon slayer corps

Inosuke’s outfit is also a modified version of the Demon Slayer uniform, that is unique to himself. His two Nichirin blades are also provided to him by the Corps, but often angers the commissioned smiths due to his tendency to break it.

As a member of the Corps, Inosuke has been involved in several battles with minor Demons as well as some of the most powerful in the series. He prefers travelling with his colleagues, Tanjiro and Zenitsu who are also members of the organisation.

Relationships

Tanjiro Kamado

Tanjiro Kamado

Due to his skill as a Demon Slayer and bravery in battle, Inosuke views Tanjiro as more of a rival. Despite Insouke constantly wanting to get a reaction out of him by instigating a brawl, Tanjiro’s kind nature doesn’t fall for Inosuke’s antics during their first few encounters. [5] His relationship with Tanjiro has been a stepping stone for his progression both as a human, as well as a Demon Slayer.

Tanjiro’s technical influence has allowed him to strategise further rather than jumping into a fight instinctively, as well as being more aware of the opposition’s capabilities. He still does share some doubts with Tanjiro. However, his thoughts on him have advanced thoroughly, moulding a strong relationship in the process.

Zenitsu

Zenitsu Agasuma

Zenitsu and Inosuke seem to have two of the wildly conflicting personalities in the entirety of the series. The wild and unruly Inosuke paired up with the sulky Zenitsu often makes for an interesting dynamic as they are forced to cooperate in their efforts as Demon Slayers.

Their views on each other are pretty poor to start with. Inosuke views Zenitsu as noisy and irritating; while the latter thinks of Inosuke as a murderous meathead whose only solution to a problem is through his fist. [Demon Slayer Manga : Chapter 25]

inosuke and zenitsu

However, these views slightly mature as the series goes along.

Inosuke compliments Zenitsu’s impressive Thunder Breathing technique after seeing him perform it during his sleep. This leads him to remark that Zenitsu should sleep forever after seeing how efficient the technique can be. The two also work together in the Entertainment District to defeat strong Demons like Daki.

nezuko

Nezuko Kamado

With his deep disdain towards Demons, Inosuke is aggressive towards Nezuko at first; attempting to harm her while she is resting inside her box. However, with Zenitsu’s protection and Tanjiro’s arrival, he isn’t able to do this. [Demon Slayer Manga : Chapter 25] Their platonic relationship progresses through their expeditions together as well as their mutual bonds with Tanjiro and Zenitsu.

Nezuko always displayed kindness and gentleness towards Inosuke. Therefore, he has a great deal of respect for her, even communicating the details about certain occurrences back to her to increase her awareness and safety.

During Inouske’s dream in the Infinity Train arc, he reimagines his friends as minions with Nezuko being given rabbit ears. He visualises the other two with rodent-like features while addressing Tanjiro as Ponjiro and Zenitsu as Chuitsu. However, he is more considerate towards Nezuko who is portrayed as being adorable and lovely, addressing her as Pyonko.

Kotoha Hashibira

Kotoha Hashibira

Inosuke initially denies the fact that Kotoha was his mother, claiming that he was given birth to by boars. However, his memories are rekindled after Doma’s account tells about a lullaby she sang to him called ‘Pinky Promise’.

Inosuke’s mother, Kotoha, raised Inosuke as a single parent. She cared for her son greatly and wanted to make him grow up as a happy child. [Demon Slayer Manga : Chapter 160 (Page 5)]

When she finds out about Doma’s true nature, she attempts to flee the scene with an infant Inosuke. As she is forced near a cliff, she faces a life-threatening dilemma and decides to throw the baby into the river below. She is then murdered and subsequently consumed by the Upper Moon. Moments before her last breath, she expresses regret for not fulfilling her obligation as a mother. [Demon Slayer Manga : Chapter 160]

Years later during the Entertainment District Arc, Inosuke finds out that the identity of his parent’s murderer is right in front of him. This gives him an extra layer of rage and motivation in the battle to subdue Doma.

Shinobu Kocho

Shinobu Kocho

In order to fire up a dispirited Inosuke, Shinobu figures out she can question Inosuke’s ability to do such a ‘simple’ task as rehabilitation training. This fuels feisty nature and he starts pushing himself on in a similar fashion to the identically motivated ZeInosuke’s nitsu.

Similar to his other relationships, Inosuke is quite abrasive and rude towards the Insect Hashira initially. However, with Inosuke spending time in the Insect Mansion getting treated by Shinobu, he gets more closer to the Hashira and develops a companionship in the process.

A notable development in this comes in her use of a pinky promise towards Inosuke, who is rekindled with the nostalgia of similar moments with his mother. Inosuke also describes that Shinobu reminds him of someone he’s met before, quite possibly his own mother.

Inosuke’s respect for her is also shown in the fact that he rarely messes up her name, uncharacteristic of Inosuke. After Shinobu passes away, he joins Kanao in the efforts to exterminate Doma and get revenge for Shinobu.

Aoi Kanzaki

Aoi Kanzaki

Initially interacting during the Rehabilitation Training Arc, Inosuke goes up against Aoi in tea splashing. Inosuke is firstly held back due to his lack of will and injury. However, his fiery personality kicks in as he defeats Kanzaki, even splashing the cup of green tea on her face in the process (unlike his other two companions)  [Demon Slayer Manga : Chapter 49]

After he is injured following the battle with Daki, Inosuke once again finds himself in the Butterfly Mansion. Kanzaki is visibly disheartened at Inosuke’s terrible condition as his veins are filled with poison. However, she quickly returns to her characteristically annoyed nature after being shocked by an eccentric Inosuke clinging to the ceiling. [Demon Slayer Manga : Chapter 48]

aoi

During his stay at the mansion, he sneaks out of the quarters one day and sneaks into the kitchen for some food; getting caught by Kanzaki in the process. Aoi presents him with a plate that’s “just for him” and declares that he can eat any quantity of food at any time whenever he desires. This encounter lights up Inosuke’s eyes and heart, and it’s clear to see that this is the turning point for his relationship with Aoi.

During the time skip, we learn that Inosuke Hashibira and Aoi Kanzaki settled down together, through a great-grandson named Aoba Hashibira.

kanao

Kanao Tsuyuri

Kanao rarely interacts with Inosuke during his stay in the Butterfly Mansion. He comes across as rather eccentric due to his antics, from the ceiling stunt to reassembling his broken bones.

The fight against Doma was an equally emotional situation for both of them. Doma watches the pair for a second and analyses the battle so it’ll prove advantageous the next time they come across each other.

While forming 3 additional clones at the door, Doma overhears Tsuyuri yelling to hold on for just a moment for their plan to work. Doma doesn’t take notice of this much and heads towards the exit. Right as he clings onto the door handle, Doma’s entire body starts to disintegrate, along with his clones. Turns out it’s Shinobu’s poison that gradually took a toll on his body.

As Inosuke looks to finish him off by the neck, the Demon employs its most notable and powerful tactic, Blood Demon Art – Rime: Water Lily Bodhisattva.
