The angels are thought to be pure and gentle,however, there are a few anime that portray angels in a completely different light. Angela Blanc is an angel from the anime, Black Butler. She’s shown to be submissive at first but as she changes her outfit, she becomes a dominatrix and enjoys torturing others. She loves using force on others. She also has this obsession with purifying people she considers unclean. Ironically,, she engages in immoral activities with men.

13. Kohaku (CLAMP in  Wonderland)

Kohaku is a genderless angel from the anime CLAMP in Wonderland. However, you’ll notice that female pronouns are used for Kohaku in subtitles. She’s shown to be friendly, cheerful and kind. Kohaku has a beautiful and melodious voice that entices anyone who listens to her singing. She’s also a little clumsy as shown in the anime.

Michael is the leader of Angels from High School DxD. As a leader of Angels, he’s shown to be kind, empathetic and compassionate. He’s a staunch promoter of Christianity and is extremely loyal to his creator. He does not possess any hate in his heart for anyone, even if they’re evil. He has shown to be willing to befriend his enemies and is also kind to them. However, there are some people he is ruthless towards, for example, Rizevim.

11. Nanael (Queen’s Blade: The Exiled Virgin)

Nanael is a cheerful and friendly angel from the anime Queen’s Blade: The Exiled Virgin. However, she tends to look down upon others and takes pride in her being an angel. She believes that the Earth should get rid of all the women. The angels should live there and the men should serve the angels. That’s definitely not how angels should think!

10. Raynare (High School DxD)

Raynare appeared to be a sweet and good-natured high school girl but in reality, she’s a ruthless and petty fallen angel who loves torturing others. She’s a great manipulator and gets amused after doing so. She shows no remorse after shedding blood.Despite this side, she loyal to her superiors but doesn’t hesitate taking action without their consent at times. She’s bold and overconfident but gets scared easily and then loses all her confidence. 

9. Raphael Ainsworth Shiraha (Gabriel Dropout)

Raphael is a super-sweet and loving angel who is also polite and gentle towards others. She rarely shows any kind of emotion and her expressions don’t change even when there’s something exciting and surprising. 

She’s also quite brave. She possesses exceptional intelligence and is the smartest in her group. Raphael is not fun-loving and friendly all the time. When Raphael arrives on Earth, she tends to reveal her darker side as well. She is shown to have a sadistic side but only towards demons.

Reki appears to be a cheerful and friendly girl but she actually went through a lot of trauma during her childhood. She has a dark past that she doesn’t talk about. Despite that, she’s emotionally strong. She’s also shown to be a dependable person who is always there to help others.

Azazel is a carefree and easy-going guy who knows when to get serious. He doesn’t like using violence and wants to solve matters peacefully. He’s a charismatic individual who can easily influence others. Azazel is also shown to be quite perverted and he doesn’t like the fact that the people he knows are all married. He longs for starting a family as well. Other than that, Azazel is a compassionate person who is always there for the people in need.

6. Astraea (Heaven’s Lost Property)

Astraea is shown to be an airhead angel who does not possess any kind of intelligence. As she is unable to hunt or retrieve anything to eat, this results to her starving herself. We’re shown how big of an idiot she is when she buries herself in the ground, hoping that she might get nutrients from the soil like a plant. She’s clumsy and can’t really save herself from tripping or falling. However, she sometimes showcases common sense to some extent. She also possesses emotional intelligence and is the most emotional out of all the angels. 

5. Panty (Panty and Stocking in Garterbelt)

Panty is a carefree angel who is always looking to have some fun. She has indulged herself in worldly pleasures and doesn’t really care about her job as a ghost hunter. She likes sleeping with different men and doesn’t have high standards when it comes to men. She can be quite reckless especially during battles. She does not think much before acting but always manages to get through things despite her crass behaviour. 

4. Nasse (Platinum End)

Nasse appears to be a carefree and friendly angel. She is always seen to be smiling brightly. However, she has a darker side to her who thinks about herself and her goal. She’s not hesitant to suggest something terrible with a sweet smile on her face. She’s willing to do anything to make Mirai the next God. She also gives her best advice to Mirai if he wants to survive. Nasser was able to detect lies when she looked into people’s eyes. Her lie detecting ability helped Mirai a lot.

3. Jibril (No Game No Life)

Jibril is a polite and gentle individual but she tends to look down upon other races. She has immense love for knowledge and gets excited when she’s about to learn new things. She’s also sadistic to some extent. While playing games, she hates cheating, as well as the cheaters. After her defeat at the hands of the BLANK duo and sees the potential of humanity, Jibril becomes  extremely loyal to Sora and Shiro and will carry out every order they give her. Other than that, she likes being humiliated and immediately gets excited when somebody is torturing her in any way. 

2. Emi Yusa (The Devil is a Part Timer)

Emi is a bold girl who never backs down from a challenge, even when it’s risky because she is the Hero Emilia on Ente Isla. The only brave one who could take on the powerful Satan was Emilia. She has a strong sense of justice and will not put up with any form of injustice. She is constantly eager to lend a helping hand since she has empathy for others. She feels too strongly for the defenseless and tries to shield them. When she hears the name of the Devil King, Satan, she quickly gets frustrated. One of his horns was successfully cut by Emilia, who also forced him to flee to Earth.

1. Whis (Dragon Ball Super)

Whis is the Guide Angel for Universe 7’s God of Destruction, Beerus. He appears to be a calm, collected and gentle angel who rarely gets agitated. When he’s frustrated or annoyed, the only thing that can calm him down is food. He’s seen to be classy in whatever he does. He never loses his class no matter what. He will stay calm even if everything around him is crumbling. However, he tends to get nervous around Zeno-sama. He doesn’t care about human lives and shows no remorse if he has to end their lives.
