Blue Lock is a shonen manga that was serialized in 2018 but it just premiered its anime adaptation in October 2022. This sports manga won the Kodansha Manga Award in 2021. And the hype is REAL!

Yoichi Isagi
Yoichi Isagi is the main character in Blue Lock who appears in Blue Lock Manga: Chapter 1. He’s a second-year student who played as a forward for his school’s football team known as Ichinan High School Football Team. Ever since he arrived at Blue Lock, he became a Team Z member on his very first selection. Isagi dreams of becoming the best striker in the whole world!
Right after Blue Lock Eleven played against Japan, our boy Isagi was classified as one of the top players who also played as an offensive midfielder in the Neo Egoist League.
Isagi is a tall boy with an average muscular build. In the manga, he has dark blue hair and a fringe between his eyes. When he attended Ichinan High School, he wore a simple uniform with a white undershirt and striped tie. However, at Blue Lock, he mostly wears the standard body suit with black and blue stripes.
Let’s talk about his personality a bit. Yoichi Isagi is a laid-back individual with a cheery personality and naive habits as well! He’s the type of person who’d often get on the nerves of other people. Among other Blue Lock competitors, he tends to avoid any childish conflicts. Since he doesn’t believe enough in himself, he tends to doubt his decisions and skills. As he was placed as the second lowest-ranked player, he became highly unsure of himself. But as time passed, our boy understood the system at Blue Lock and adapted himself accordingly!

Jinpachi Ego
Jinpachi Ego is the main prodigy behind the Blue Lock project. The services that he provides are of a coach, trainer, and manager of the Blue Lock. Jinpachi is a pale man with a tall height and straight bangs. He’s mostly wearing black framed glasses and black jeans with a black t-shirt.
When it comes to his personality, he’s a passionate and over-confident man who puts an emphasis on “ego” when it comes to playing football. In Blue Lock Manga: Chapter 1, he claims that Japan’s Football team lacks ego. Jinpachi is shown to be a highly egotistical, ruthless, and narcissistic person who can easily manipulate people.
He also believes that true strikers are always in survival mode instead of being happy for small achievements in Blue Lock Manga: Chapter 2.
He’s highly against teamwork and wants everyone to be egotistical and betray others so that the world’s best striker would be created! That’s his main goal! Jinpachi Ego can read through different players and won’t hesitate even a bit to expose the hidden dark truths about each team member.
Jinpachi Ego is highly calculative and has no favorite player. He just goes after numbers and outcomes. That’s the scary part of his personality. As the creator of Blue Lock, he is highly prideful, and even though he won’t show it, he takes great pride in raising strong players. Meguru Bachira
Meguru Bachira is also one of the main characters in Blue Lock who first appeared in Blue Lock Manga: Chapter 2. He seems like one of the most normal characters in the anime but he does have some dark aspects in terms of his personality.
Bachira is a smooth forward who plays according to his instincts. When he first arrived at Blue Lock, he was one of the members of Team Z. (during the First Selection) However, he dreams of playing with strong players.
Bachira is a skilled player who believes that he’s great at dribbling as he said in Blue Lock Manga: Chapter 9.
He also claims that he has a monster hidden inside of him. But currently, he dreams of becoming the best striker in the world just like many other players. After Japan’s U-20 match, he plays as the center-forward for FC Barcha.
When it comes to his appearance, he is a young man with a slim build and bright yellow eyes. Bachira has a bob cut as well. He’s mostly wearing the standard uniform given to them by the Blue Lock Project.
As far as his personality is concerned, he’s an odd fellow with an energetic personality. Bachira is very hyped up when it comes to football matches with powerful opponents. Bachira often sleeps at the most unexpected times.
He often oversleeps but Kuon or Isagi wakes him up. Yes, he’s just a baby who loves sleeping. Anyways, overall, he’s a really friendly individual. Despite the fact that he was bullied during his childhood, he never stops treating everyone around him nicely.

Eita Otoya
Eito Otoya has ranked 4th out of 300 forwards as part of the Blue Lock Project. He currently plays as a side back for the Blue Lock Project against the Japan U-20 even though he started off just as a winger! Eito Otoya first appeared in Blue Lock Manga: Chapter 93.
Otoya is a tall and athletic person with flat white hair with a white strand of hair in the middle of his head. The dark green undersides of his head and eyes make him stand out among the rest of the players.
He’s also wearing the standard uniform of Blue Lock mostly. However, his uniform changed a lot as he played for many teams.
For his personality, he’s a laid-back person with a chill personality. He rarely shows any emotions. For instance, he is always so relaxed that one can’t even tell if he’s pressured or not. Eito Otoya has no problem being straightforward with his teammates. He gives a lot of feedback to his team members. He enjoys useless drama, for instance, the fight between Rin and Shidou. Gin Gagamaru
Gin Gagamaru is one of the main characters in Blue Lock. He’s a nonchalant and chill player who serves as a forward in the team. He wants to become one of the best football players in the world. When he first arrived at Blue Lock, he belonged to Team Z. However, after the third selection, he started as a goalie against the Japan U-20. And currently, he’s a goalie for Bastard Munchen.
He’s a quite tall man with long black hair in a bun. He used to have dyed silver hair but then it turned black. At Blue Lock, Gagamaru mostly wears a bodysuit with black and gray stripes. However, after switching certain teams, he changed into many other jerseys.
He’s a relaxed person who doesn’t crack under pressure easily. He’s mostly focused on his goals and doesn’t like useless drama. His major weapons in football includes close quarter plays as he said in Blue Lock Manga: Chapter 9.
Being a goalie, Gagamaru has excellent control and fast reflexes. He has a body like a spring that he uses for many types of shots and tackles. It won’t be wrong to say that Gagamaru is quite a skillful football player. Gagamaru was just 12 years old when he started playing football and his favorite football player is Gareth Bale.

Hyoma Chigri
Hyoma Chigri is also one of the main characters who’s a genius when it comes to playing as a forward. He first appeared in Blue Lock Manga: Chapter 2. He had a leg injury in the past but he decided to let go of his fears. At Blue Lock, he decided to continue playing football wholeheartedly.
During the First Selection, Hyoma played it low-key, keeping everything bare minimum. However, Isagi’s Team Z inspired him. That’s when he decided to let go of his fears and play football so that he could become the best striker in the world.
Hyoma is a lean young man with pink/red hair. He also has deep pink eyes. Ever since he was young, he had feminine features. Hyoma resembles his mother and sister quite a lot due to these features.
When it comes to his personality, he’s known to consider himself superior to others. Ever since he was young, he thought that nobody could come closer to his level and he also has strong muscles too. It won’t be wrong to say that Hyoma Chigri is quite skillful and has amazing fast reflexes.
He’s mostly modest but he used to look down on those who annoyed him or came in his way. When he got his leg injury, all his superiority complexes started to shatter. He was badly harassed by the Wanima Brothers who gave him trauma. Due to those brothers, he became quite scared to play football. But ever since he arrived at Blue Lock, he found his inspiration and goals!
Ikki Niko
Upon his arrival at Blue Lock, Ikki Niko belonged to Team Y during the First Selection who first appeared in Blue Lock Manga: Chapter 10. He thought he already had a lot of skills but Isagi shattered his expectations for himself by winning. That’s when Ikki Nikko thought that he should focus on improving. After Japan’s U-20, he was ranked as the 63rd forwards of the Blue Lock Project.
Ikki Nikko is a highly confident guy with the ability to follow his instincts on the field. He can also read the field and then act accordingly. Ikki Nikko appreciates the people who seem to show the same arrogance as him. It makes him want to play football in a hardcore way. Ever since he realized that he has the same eyes as Isagi, Ikki started a friendly rivalry with him.
Nikko can also adapt himself according to the playing style even if it means evolving or alternating his own styles. So, he’s a flexible player. After he lost to Isagi, he started focusing on his own individual goals. Ikki Nikko really enjoys being in the spotlight, he also grew up as a defender while playing football and he used his eyes to play against the defenders! Jyubei Aryu
Jyubei Aryu is a stylish man who gets introduced as the second-best player in the Second Selection in Blue Lock Manga: Chapter 43. He started off as a center back at Blue Lock Eleven against Japan U-20.
He’s one of the tallest characters in Blue Lock with long black hair of mid-length. His limbs are really long as well. Jyubei has black eyes and when you first see him, you’re going to find him quite feminine.

Kenyu Yukimiya
Kenyu Yukimiya is also one of the main characters in Blue Lock who’s chosen to be a forward out of 300 players for the Blue Lock Project. He made his debut in Blue Lock Manga: Chapter 93. He’s a highly confident man who believes in his abilities more than anyone else. He claims to be one of the strongest players in Japan. Kenyu Yukimiya is known for his likable and charismatic personality, he can also make friends very easily. So, he’s the type of guy you would want to rely on whenever you’re having a hard time.
Kenyu is the type of guy who thinks things through when it comes to playing football. He also wears glasses when he’s not playing, and his personality outside of a match is quite messy and wild. He might look like somebody who has no awareness regarding his appearance. Rin Itoshi
Rin Itoshi is also one of the main characters in Blue Lock, he’s the younger brother of Sae Itoshi. He started playing football when he was young. Rin has always played as a forward on every team, in fact, he was known to be one of the best players!

As one of his team members lost to Yoichi Isagi, he decided to improve his skills so that he could defeat them! Yes, Seishiro Nagi is a determined individual who does whatever he says.
Tabito Karasu
Tabito Karasu is ranked as the 3rd best forward out of 300 in the Blue Lock Project who made a debut in Blue Lock Manga: Chapter 93. He serves as a defensive midfielder for Blue Lock Eleven versus the Japan U-20. He likes to look down on weak people and calls them mediocre as well. However, he’s smart and sharp. Karasu often ends up hurting other people with his sharp tongue. There hasn’t been any moment where he slipped away any opportunity to insult somebody. However, he’s a really strong football player with various abilities like analyzing skills, extreme ball control, and feints as well!

Sae Itoshi
