Aki Hayakawa Wiki
Aki Hayakawa, working under Public Safety Devil Hunter. had contracts with Curse Devil and Future Devil. He had a contract even with the all might Fox Devil. His current job of hunting devil was under the special care of Makima. He made his debt in (Chapter 3) where he met Denji for the very first time. And it turned out that they didn’t get along well. Since Aki thought that Denji had ulterior motives. Lamentably, Aki was killed and possessed by Gun Devil. Later on, he became Gun Fiend.

Appearance
In addition to being handsome, Aki is a tall young man with medium-length black hair and deep blue eyes. We often see him tying his hair on the top in a knot. Despite being a devil hunter, he dresses up like a gentleman going on his first date wearing a suit and tie. Aki looks like a devil hunter only because of the sword against his back, if there’s no sword, he definitely looks like your usual handsome gentleman.

Personality
Aki is a very well-mannered and composed person. His expressions are stoic and he acts mature during rough times. Everyone depends a lot on Aki since he’s very dependable and is always up to help everyone. Even though he’s composed but he can’t see his nakamas getting hurt.
Unlike many of his nakamas, he’s described by Himeno as a “normal person”. Aki helps those who are in need and if one of his nakamas gets hurt, he makes sure to take revenge for them. The sole reason behind his training is to take revenge on the Gun Devil as he slaughtered his family. That’s why he’s even ready to endanger his own life for his family’s sake. Even if he fears death, the passion for killing the Gun Devil is unlimited and it can’t stop him from doing so.
Aki Hayakawa gives off very cold vibes, that’s why everyone is quite annoyed by him. Even people other than his team stay away from him due to his stoic expressions. The first impression of this guy would always be like “he’s cold”. Yet, we never know the pain he hides and how warm he actually is.
Strengths and Skills
Swordsmanship and Curse Devil Contract
Aki is a professional swordsman, his amazing swordsmanship allows him to tear down the devils very quickly! It’s his primary weapon of fighting with the devils.
Aki has the authority to contract with the devils. It grants him a nail-like sword. And if he uses that sword, his life is going to be shortened. The things go crazy when he says “fire” while carrying the Curse Devil Sword, it then tears the opponents apart. It enables the hand of the Cursed Devil to come out and stab the opponent as well.
And if he stabs his opponents three times, it’s OVER for them! They get cursed! The Cursed Devil comes out and curses them with his nails.
Future Devil Contract and Fox Devil Contract
After failing the contract with the Fox Devil, he was taken to the Future Devil which is imprisoned by the Public Safety. Therefore, he manages to sign a contract with the Future Devil. He allowed the Future Devil to live inside his eye.
Aki has the ability to look into the future and he uses this ability to predict his opponent’s attacks. (Chapter 49)
Aki Hayakawa had a contract with the Fox Devil. And After using Fox Devil’s abilities again and again while fighting the Katana Man, he lost his ability to summon the Fox Devil. (Chapter 30) Aki could raise his hand up and say “Kon” which summons Fox Devil. And whenever he did that, Fox’s head appeared above his opponent’s head which eventually swallowed them with the Fox Devil’s bite.
Blood Manipulation and Blood Consumption
As a Gun Fiend, he can fire bullets from his left arm with great precision. He’s able to break the walls and destroy multiple things with much ease. (Chapter 77)
As a corpse, he can consume as much blood as he wants. And he’s able to restore the parts of his body by consuming the blood too! (Chapter 77)

Past/History
When Aki Hayakawa makes his debt in the manga, Makima commands Denji to work with Aki. While Aki and Denji are wandering around the city, Denji gets curious about Makima since he doesn’t know a lot about her. He fell for Makima at first sight. Meanwhile, Aki got tired of hearing Denji’s babbling stuff and thought that he wasn’t serious about the job commanded to him.
Aki tells Denji to take the devil hunting thing very seriously if he doesn’t want to die. However, Denji was daydreaming about Makima and gets super excited to imagine that he’ll be working with her. When both of them get back to the Headquarters, Makima assigns Denji to Aki’s squad. That’s where the real fun begins, Power is introduced as well. The three of them along with some other members of the Public Safety Devil Hunters start working together.
Bat Devil Arc
Aki Hayakawa drives Makima back to the headquarters after she’s done with her meeting with the seniors. That’s when Makima tells him that she’s interested in Denji because he can transform into a Chainsaw Man.
While Denji and Power are tangled in a misunderstanding and are struggling to fight the Leech Devil, Aki appears with his Fox Devil. That’s where we get to see his unbelievable powers. As Denji’s about to be savored by the Leech Devil, Fox Devil devours the Leech devil.
Denji gets curious about his superpowers and asks about them, Aki tells him that he was able to summon the devil due to an agreement between the two of them. The agreement was made when Aki allowed the Fox Devil to consume a little part of his skin. Aki then expresses his hatred for devils and claims that they can never be trusted.
Aki Hayakawa despite being so quiet knew that Power was manipulating Denji. Yet, Denji simps over Power and denies that it never happened. He threatens both of them to be executed if they won’t tell the truth. Makima then informs Aki and Denji that Power will be living together with them at Aki’s place. Both of them scream in pain due to the fact that she never flushes the toilet.
Eternity Devil Arc
Aki and Himeno working together for the same team and hiding some mysteries, extract some part of the Gun Devil’s body part from the dead body of Fish Devil.
After they receive the Devil extermination request from the Bureau, Aki, Denji, and Power go to the Hotel Morin with Himeno’s group. All of them explore the location, floor by floor. Suddenly, they witness a devil in the shape of a walking head. So creepy, right? However, Himeno and Power’s teamwork was second to none and they handled it quickly.
They continued investigating till the eighth floor, Hirokazu states that they were supposed to be on the 9th floor. Aki realizes that they have been trapped on the eighth floor. The Devil traps them. Aki continues searching for the devil, yet the devil keeps on increasing in size and asks for Denji’s Life. The devil wanted Denji to sign a contract with him.
As the situation becomes more intense, Koebeni and Hirokazu’s fears make the devil a lot strong. The devil basically becomes stronger when someone fears them. Therefore, it chases the whole group while alternating the shapes of the room they are in. Sometimes, it changed the shape to a tunnel. As Hirokazu and Koebeni prepare to kill the devil Aki apologizes to Denji and gets ready to fight.
Whereas, Denji receives an injury during the process and jumps down while risking his own life. He tells Aki that they’ll call it even if they could survive this match.
After a few days, Eternity Devil surrenders while exposing his heart to Denji so he could end its pain forever. After defeating the Gun Devil, they all come out of the hotel. Himeno and Aki recover the part of the Devil which they amputated. Then Himeno suggests throwing a party for the successful mission of the 4th Division. Aki suggests doing the party before next week since he won’t be going to Kyoto without her. At the party, Makima’s curiosity about Denji grows and she asks Aki a lot of things regarding Denji.
Gun Devil Arc
SPOILER ALERT!! Aki gets killed by the Gun Devil while the devil advances towards Makima. The Gun Devil after swallowing and making a contract with Aki becomes Gun Fiend. Aki in his new form gets ready to ensnare Denji while returning to his residence. With this in mind, Aki starts hallucinating about Denji playing snowball with him using his left arm which transforms into a gun. He also hallucinates about destroying his apartment and cutting Denji in half.
A friendly war occurs between the two of them. It causes catastrophe! Many buildings fall and get destroyed due to their combat. Denji cries just to see if Aki stops attacking him or not, he succeeds. Denji taking his only opportunity attacks Aki. He turns and sees his brother wearing his gloves to play catch in the afterlife. The will left behind by Aki reveals that he gives half of his money to Denji and another half to Himeno’s Family.

Angel Devil
The two of them started very rough after being partnered up. At first, both of them failed to get along with each other. Despite this all, they began to warm up to each other to the point where they cared about both of their feelings.
When Angel Devil was on the verge of being killed, Aki offers his hand for help despite knowing the fact that it would shorten his lifespan. Angel Devil was inclined to tell Aki of the untold mysteries that included the life cycles of the devils. Since the relationship between the both of them had warmed up, Aki signed a contract with the devil as a devil hunter to exterminate his life cycle.
Power
Aki and Power also do not go well with one another. Both of them are completely opposite! One is very quiet and composed while the other is just like a rock band (no offense), loud and thrilling!
The thing that Aki dislikes about Power is her ungrateful behavior. He finds her very obnoxious. The only person Aki listens to is Makima. Therefore, whenever Makima says to warm up to your fellows, Aki makes sure that he does even if he doesn’t want to. He seems very embarrassed by Power, yet he still considers her as a close friend. Protecting Power was one of the reasons why he wanted to end the fight of the Fourth Division with Gun Devil.
Makima
Now things are getting interesting. So we could easily tell from (Chapter 4) that Aki has a huge crush on Makima. That’s what made him fight Denji in the first place. Aki trusts Makima very deeply but Makima doesn’t care about his feelings and uses him as nothing more than a tool.
Himeno
When Aki first joined Public Safety Devil Hunters, Himeno was there. In fact, she was his first work partner. Himeno was responsible for making Aki a smoker. She also asked him to quit his job to ensure his safety. Although Aki does not feel the same for Himeno, yet Himeno doesn’t lose hope and continuously expresses her crush for Aki. Even if Aki doesn’t feel the same way for her, he still considers her a very close friend.
Denji
Aki and Denji being very opposite to one another hate each other, instead of “attracting”. We have listened about the “unlike charges attract each other”. Who cares about physics here! Anyway, coming back to the subject, Denji and Aki meet one another in (Chapter 3), when Makima introduces Denji to him. He didn’t seem pleased to meet Denji. Since he’s a very rusty boy. As a student of Makima, Aki respects her a lot. But, seeing Denji disrespecting Makima or being head over heels for her makes him very furious. Aki warns him and tells him to take the Devil Job hunting seriously.
They were literally fighting when they first met, and Denji even kicked him into his crotch. He thinks that Denji is a very indecent and brute kind of person. Despite their fight, they have to work together under the orders of Makima. After their endless fights, they start living together of course including Power, he then realizes that Denji is not a very bad person and that’s how they become closer. At times, Denji is considered obnoxious by Aki but that doesn’t stop him from caring. Aki was even ready to sacrifice his own life for the sake of Denji and Power. This is evidence of Aki being such a nice fellow or Nakama!
