11+ Manhwa with Overpowered MC in School (Webtoons)

Updated May 30, 2022 by Ernie

Watching shows based in a High School may bring up a variety of emotions among viewers. Some feel nostalgia, others remember the horrors they had to endure, and a rare few actually miss their time.

Table of Contents

In any case, High School is definitely a milestone in everyone’s life. However, if you’re anything like me, it wasn’t that great for you. Watching an Overpowered Main Character beat the silly out of annoying villains is immensely satisfying.

Here is a comprehensive list of 12 Manhwa with an Overpowered MC in school:

12. Devil Sword King

You’ll always find students in high school who have a part-time job. Some are compelled to have one because of their financial situation, and some just want the experience.

Our Main Character is not so different, except that his part-time job is being the leader of a world straight out of a fantasy book. Our young protagonist intends to live both lives with the same attention (surely that won’t be complicated at all).  As the story progresses, the strain of having a double identity takes its toll on him, but how will he deal with it?

The artwork is quite pleasant. My main complaint is the confusing storyline. The timelines are honestly a mess, and the characters desperately need some backstories.

Even though this Manhwa isn’t based in a school, I think it’s definitely worth reading. Hanna Yoo’s life turns upside down when her parents die in a tragic accident. Struggling to make ends meet, she’s desperate for any hope.

Her prayers are answered in the form of an email. In it, she finds an invitation to the Zero Game. The Zero Game is a family-friendly game in which you’ll be bestowed with an invaluable reward if you win. Still, you die if you lose (sound familiar?)

What follows is a ruthless competition with vile and good people alike, loyalty is hard to recognize, everyone is potentially harmful, and enemies are everywhere. Are there any normal school life Manhwa around?

10. Gangs of School

People can do peculiar things after a sudden tragedy. They discover new hobbies or travel to dangerous places seeking thrills.

But I dare say, therapy might actually be the only healthy solution in such cases. Speaking of people who need therapy, Won Hang-Gil, our main character, is still dealing with his father’s untimely death.

His father’s death causes his mom to have a nervous breakdown; besides taking care of his mom, he must also take care of his sister, who is blind. So his solution to all of this is obviously to start his very own criminal enterprise. It feels like the MC became a villain.

The premise, while being weird, is surprisingly intriguing. The story is not bad, but the characters genuinely carry the series.

While the title may suggest otherwise, this is not some grown-up stuff. However, this Manhwa is not precisely “kids friendly” either.

Our main character finds himself in quite a rut. His disappointing life finally takes a toll on him, and he commits suicide. His attempt is thwarted by someone you might assume is a friend but ends up being quite the opposite.

8. Nevermore

There is a fine line but a thin line between love and hate. Artists often exploit the tension between enemies/rivals from almost every format.

Our main characters are James Jung and Samuel Gyo. James is an outstanding student. Calling him a teacher’s pet would be an understatement because he’s literally responsible for protecting the principal’s life.

Samuel is very naughty and hence is sent to kill the principal. They are both aware of each other’s identities and therefore come up with a few ground rules. Some of them are pretty standard and easy to follow; not shooting each other in the middle of math class, no explosives in the cafeteria.

But some they find out are pretty difficult to follow, like falling in love. Witll this turn out like your typical high school romance Manhwa?

7. Get Schooled

A world where teachers cannot severely punish students (which is basically the real world). Due to the lack of consequence (also in the real world).

Hwajin Na, a real good guy, must find a way to deal with the bullies without beating them up, which one might imagine is more complex than you think.

Unless you’re a bully yourself, watching the main character destroy them is pretty satisfying. It doesn’t hurt that the characters are well written, and the storyline is consistent.

6. Viral Hit

Hobin Yoo, a young student who seems unremarkable in every way, has become an internet sensation. His unique talent is not singing, dancing, or even hand-stands. It’s knocking people out, people who are usually twice his size.

As the story progresses, the mystery behind Hobin’s extraordinary power is explained. There’s a lot of Martial Arts involved so you’ll surely like it if you’re into action.

5. The Archmage Return After 4000 Years

As the not-so-subtle title suggests, a great mage returns after 4000 years. But this isn’t just some regular great mage; this is the greatest to ever do it.

The only problem is; he finds himself in the body of the weakest student possible. So while the mage himself is overpowered, the boy he’s inhabiting, namely, that of Frei Blake, is not.  This leads to some hilarious situations. Imagine being the MC after getting reincarnated so suddenly.

As the story progresses, our great mage must learn to deal with his circumstances.

Our main character, Joon-Woo, is a total loner, and he has no friends and no girlfriend. In fact, his only social interaction is via texting (Which I amazingly relate to).

Since it’s fiction, this young boy meets a beautiful girl online, but the real twist is the girl’s identity in the real world.

3. Girls of the Wild’s

Song Jae Gu finds himself in a high school that genuinely treats both genders equally. The Girls in this particular high school are known for their violent combat instincts.

One day, he encounters the school’s beautiful yet dominating de-facto leader; his life is never the same again. This Manhwa is truly the complete package.

The characters are fantastic, the story is excellent, and the action sequences were beautifully drawn.

2. The Breaker

Shi-Woon is a typical school student who gets bullied regularly. But when his patience reaches a tipping point, he reaches out to his teacher, not to complain but to learn how to fight.

While the story takes a little time to get a hold of your attention, it is genuinely worthwhile.

1. Mercenary Enrollment

This is by far my favorite Manhwa in this particular sub-genre. Mainly because I just like the main character so much.

Yu Ijin becomes a soldier for hire after he loses his memories in an accident that results in the death of his parents. His past eventually catches up with him, and he discovers that he still has family left.

What will he do when his innocent sister and grandfather find out who he truly is? This is a really good Manhwa and if you’re too into it like me, you might want to take a look at other Manhwa like Mercenary Enrollment.

There you have it. A comprehensive list of Manhwa with an Overpowered Main Character in school.

Most of the main characters in the list are cool; whether they start that way or train for it depends on the series. While the genre itself can be considered niche, it’s widespread. Eventually, these past years, high school dramas need to have similar roles such as the bully, the romantic interest, and the protagonist.

    1. FFF Class Trashero is probably one of the funniest manhwas (dark humor) I’ve read, its unique and a fun read XD

  2. I like Random Chat, but the list is about OP MC, and the MC isnt op at all. He get beat up all the time. But I would say if it wasnt for you i would never have found this manwha so thanks.

        1. Ye, but it’s way too brutal. I love gore and brutal sh7t, but the mc gets annoying halfway through. (I don’t like France)

      1. At the beginning the MC is very weak but after chapter 200 he deserves a spot for Black Airforce Energy trust me its worth the wait

    1. Well Mercenary Enrollment is really good, a humble and silent MC, but a badass in the fighting scene, I recommend God of Blackfield and Eleceed too 💙 it’s worth reading 💪

  3. I don’t know a lot of these but while both girls of the wild’s and viral hit (how to fight) are good, the mc are absolutely never op, if anything they’re absurdly weak up until quite late into the series and even if they become quite strong, they’re very far from being op.
