Ermes Costello | JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (Wiki)
Ermes Costello is a character from the anime called Jojo’s Bizzare Adventures and she was also the Deuteragonist from Stone Ocean. Don’t get confused, I know some might think that Ermes Costello is a boy but she isn’t, she is a female!
I got confused at the start myself, but then I found out that she was a female lmao!

She was a person who got imprisoned for some reason in the Green Dolphin Street Prison. She wanted to take revenge for her sister since a person by the name of Sports Maxx, killed Ermes’s sister, Gloria Costello.
As she wanted revenge, she started to ally with some people and the first person she allied with was Jolyne Cujoh. Later on, she found a pendant that gave her a stand by the name of Kiss. I know, the name of the stand is kinda weird but we gotta go with it lmao! (JJBA Stone Ocean: Chapter 1)

Personality
Even though she looks like a tough opponent, she is quite loyal and proud of herself. She will take a risk, even if it means splitting into 2 pieces or even losing some of her organs. She doesn’t run away from a fight, she pushes head-on and fights the opponent, even if the enemy is stronger than her.
She even lost her limb and still managed to stand up! (JJBA Stone Ocean: Chapter 4)
She has a strong sense of justice and is willing to punish ANYONE who tries to stop her from achieving her goals.
She likes to speak in a friendly tone but despite that, she is rude and uses a lot of curse words. She is also quite violent to others sometimes. She just wants to take revenge for her sisters and becomes really brutal in fights with her opponent.

Gloria
Let’s start with Gloria, her sister.
As you know by now, Ermes went through all that trouble just to take revenge on Maxx for her sister as she was killed. She also cared for Gloria a lot!
Gloria was a young woman with blonde hair and blue eyes, she was 27 years old before she was killed. She was more like a mother than a sister to Ermes. In simple words, she acted like a mother figure rather than a sister in front of Ermes.
Jolyne Cujoh
As always, she has a lot of allies and friends that fight by her side and help her achieve goals and to pass time.
Finally, the character I have been talking about this whole list!
Jolyne is a character who met Ermes when they were right next to each other in a prison cell, and they have been very good friends. Jolyne helped her take revenge on Maxx and escape the prison.
She is a woman with black and blonde hair and green eyes. It’s a chance that she might be christian and she is half Japanese and half American.
Foo Fighters
I know you are thinking the same thing that I am, isn’t Foo Fighters Ermes’s enemy? Well, they were enemies at first, but soon they became friends.
F.F. is genderless with green hair and brown eyes. Isn’t it weird that F.F. likes water? We still don’t know the age of this character. But from the looks of it, this character might be 20 years old.
Emporio Alniño
They aren’t that close as friends and barely interact with each other, they are just acquaintances.
Emporio is 11 years old with blond hair and yellow brownish eyes. He usually likes to wear a baseball uniform for some reason. His height is 4ft long. He doesn’t like battles and he is kinda weird too.
Weather Report
Just like Emporio, they don’t really interact with each other a lot but we have seen that when Weather Report dies, we saw Ermes crying. There’s a chance that they might be close and we don’t know…What do you think? Are they close friends or not?
Weather Report is a male with white hair and black colored eyes.He is also 39 years old. He has a stand that has the ability to change the surrounding atmosphere! Pretty cool ability to have, it could be useful in many different situations.
Enemies
Sports Maxx
He is the main target of Ermes and you probably know why by now. He is the reason why Ermes wants to avenge her sister, Gloria.
He has short blond hair with blue eyes. Fun fact, do you know that Sports Maxx was a human but then later transformed into a zombie? Wonder why he turned himself into a zombie? Maybe he died and reincarnated? Who knows! He is also a gangster.
Thunder McQueen
Thunder McQueen was a janitor and an inmate at Green Dolphin Street Prison. He met Ermes in the prison. Thunder tried stealing her money and do you know what happens next? Ermes beats him lmao!
Never mess with Ermes’s Money!
Anyways, he also has a stand by the name of Stand Highway to Gate and has a medium build with Blond color hair.
Enrico Pucci
Pucci is a villain that I haven’t really talked about much, he has shown up in many fights, including the one in the helicopter. Remember, I said that she faced many opponents after she tried to escape by helicopter right? Well, Pucci was one too and he is also an assassin.
Miraschon
Miraschon was an inmate just like Ermes in the Green Dolphin Street Prison. At first, Ermes thought she was weak and thought of using her, but it turns out that she is a powerful stand user and SHE EVEN TOOK SOME OF ERMES’S ORGANS, OOPS!
We should never judge someone by how they look lmao! She was also an assassin sent by Enrico Pucci in order to assassinate Jolyne.
Facts
- It’s possible that Ermes is a rock human!
- As she has a brawny type of appearance and personality, she was given a nickname, wanna know what the nickname was? I guess I have no choice but to tell!
- She was given the nickname Aniki lmao!
- Aniki means a big brother, it’s mostly used among the Japanese community.
Past/History
She was from a poor family and was born in a poor area. Her family used to run a restaurant, and she had a sister too. Her mother was not mentioned though.
She wasn’t in that good relationship with her sister, also did I mention that her sister’s name is Gloria, and she is 10 years older than Ermes? One day, Ermes ran away because she got into an argument with her sister but sadly, Sports Maxx found her, he just murdered a person too!
Unlucky, I guess. As he walked towards Ermes, Gloria caught him but sadly, she was killed.
Due to not enough proof, Ermes didn’t get her family’s property and on top of all, she lost her family. A pretty tragic background story, not gonna lie. Wanna know what’s worse? Well, Sports Maxx was only arrested for 5 YEARS. Wow, after all that, just 5 years after all of that happened?
That is the reason why Ermes wants to take revenge and so, she started to rob a lot of stores over and over again until she found herself in the same prison as Sports Maxx is held in (JJBA: Stone Ocean Between Chapter 1-6), and that made it easier for her to take her revenge now.
Sport’s Maxx Assassination
Finally, the moment that she has been waiting for her entire life. She gets the chance to assassinate Maxx. She followed Maxx and took him to some kind of pipe and because of that, she was able to trap Maxx. (JJBA, Kiss of Love & Revenge, Chapter 52. Part 2)
But, this won’t be so easy killing him, I mean he is not normal lmao! With him now trapped, it should be easy killing him, right? Wrong.
Suddenly, her finger was gone, and she was getting pecked by something strange, she started to attack blindly but due to that, she lost her enemy, got really frustrated and confused at the same time. She got confused as to why Maxx isn’t attacking her yet? (JJBA Kiss of Love & Revenge: Chapter 52 – 53, Part 2-3)
In front of her, she saw an alligator. She got scared and climbed up a pipe, luckily for her, Jolyne and F.F. came in and they helped defeat the alligator. (JJBA Kiss of Love & Revenge: Chapter 54, Part 4)
They followed some traces that Maxx left behind and that led them to a place where Maxx summoned TONS of zombies that are invisible. Jolyne got hurt and Ermes knew that Maxx was trying to pull up something, so she came up with a plan. She stayed still, and the zombies started to eat her, she got wounded. She knew that as she would be fighting the zombies, Maxx would come and take her head off,
So Maxx comes in and as Maxx thought he killed her, Ermes cut his head into 2 pieces, but Maxx said that it was a decoy and tried to get her confused even more. Ermes fell to the ground and Maxx jumped in to kill her, but something strange happened that I still can’t UNDERSTAND.
Somehow, she was suddenly able to beat him with her stand, Kiss, and that led to Maxx’s death. Ermes was injured badly, and her head was also split in half. Told ya it won’t be easy to kill him! (JJBA Kiss of Love & Revenge: Chapter 57, Part 7)
Escaping The Prison
Due to the fight with Sport’s Maxx, Ermes got seriously injured, and she was not able to move for a long time. I guess the fight got serious, I wonder what would have happened if Jolyne and F.F wouldn’t have come to defeat that alligator. Ermes would have lost, maybe? Who knows lmao!
When Ermes is feeling a little better, they went to Romeo Jisso’s house and took the helicopter to escape, this still won’t be easy as they still had to fight a lot of enemies during the helicopter flight, after it and even after that lmao! (JJBA Escape…: Chapter 102)
This was tough for them not gonna lie, but they somehow managed to overcome those opponents and successfully escaped the prison once and for all. This still won’t end as some people will come after her.
Plot - Stone Ocean
In Stone Ocean, Ermes met a new person by the name of Jolyne. At first, they were right next to each other, basically, their cells were right next to each other. Jolyne became a little annoying and Ermes told her to stop being so annoying out of anger, lmao!
They soon were taken out of their cells so that they could go to a new prison called Green Dolphin Street Prison since Maxx is also there. As Ermes was leaving the cell, she found some strange pendant and decided to take it with her. They sat down with each other and Ermes wanted some money, so she asked Jolyne to grab them, guess where the money was? Well, I won’t tell ya lmao!
After she got the money out, it turned out that the guards were listening to their conversation and started beating Ermes to get the money from her, luckily she was saved by an ability of Jolyne called Stone Free. She had to sell her pendant to a person by the name of Gwess though (JJBA Stone Ocean: Chapter 1, Part 1-3).
She soon fell really sick and was taken to the hospital bed. She woke up only to find the janitors stole her money, but there’s something strange on her hand? There are stickers?
She took one off but…THEY KEPT APPEARING OVER AND OVER AGAIN! She found it strange but soon realized that she gets some kind of power through her stickers. (JJBA Stone Ocean: Chapter 21–25, Part 1–5)

She has also voiced Kobayashi, oh? Wondering who Kobayashi is? Well, Kobayashi is a character from a famous anime by the name of Dragon maid and I would recommend you this anime a try lmao! She has also voiced Sonya. Oops, this is not an anime recommendation list but a character’s personality, backstory, and appearance list lmao!
Conclusion
This character might not seem that important to many of you out there, but for me this seemed like a very cool and interesting character. I tried my best to add as much detail as possible and make it as accurate as I can!
