1. Final Selection

Storyline:
In the first arc, we see Tanjiro Kamado and his sister Nezuko Kamado as the main characters of the series. It kicks off with a demon who had killed the Kamado family, and Nezuko is transformed into a demon. This series of events drives Tanjiro on a quest to avenge his family and restore his sister’s human form.
Tanjiro has to become a Demon Slayer in order to accomplish his goal. Giyu Tomioka, a demon slayer, assigns the Kamado siblings to his tutor, Sakonji Urokodaki. Sakonji takes them in and teaches Tanjiro how to use a sword. During the two years, Tanjiro learns the water breathing technique, Nezuko falls into a long sleep.
During his training Tanjiro ends up seeing two souls of Sakonji’s past students throughout his training. They train Tanjiro and give him all of Sakonji’s fallen children’s strength. This qualifies Tanjiro for the Demon Slayer Corps Final Selection.
Tanjiro heads up to mount Fujikasane, where Final Selection is held, he comes into contact with a demon and struggles to defeat it. But Tanjiro doesn’t give up and ends up defeating the demon with the help of souls close to his heart. Tanjiro and four more candidates are the only ones to make it through the seven-day Final Selection.
They finally pass the test and are assigned the lowest level of Demon Slayer and each chooses a sword ore. After the selection, Tanjiro heads back to Sakonji’s house to discover that Nezuko has awakened. She hugs him, and they reconcile after years of being apart while she slept, Sakonji is relieved to see that one of his children has survived.

2. First Mission Arc
Storyline:
This arc is the shortest arc in the series which takes place around episodes six and seven of the anime.
Here, it shows how Tanjiro begins his life as a demon slayer as he goes on his first mission with his sister, Nezuko. In this arc, he goes to a town where he finds out that young girls have been disappearing night after night.
His first assignment now is to find the demon that has been kidnapping the girls and kill the demon. So he runs into a man who had been blamed for his fiancé’s disappearance the night before.
With the help of the man, he runs into Tanjiro and is able to track down the demon and the demon ends up having an ability.
A demon is stronger than the average human, but the creators had to give demons special abilities, not fair, I know. This demon had the ability to open portals to its own hidden swamp.
Luckily, Tanjiro was able to help the people in the town and defeat the demon, although with the help of his sister who has been hypnotized to help humans.
He finds out just before killing the demon that Muzan Kibutsuji is somehow involved with the creations of demons. He learns that Muzan is the man who murdered his family and turned his sister into a Demon.
Not long after killing this demon, he is assigned to his next mission by a talking crow.

3. Asakusa Arc
Storyline:
In this arc, Tanjiro heads into Asakusa, Tokyo for his second mission as a member of the Demon Slayer Corp. It was his first time being in the big city of Tokyo since he lived in a village for most of his life.
He walks around the city to track down the demon that was said to disturb Tokyo and notices a familiar scent. Oh, I forgot to tell you that Tanjiro has a mean sense of smell. He rushes down the crowded street tracking down the smell and discovers a man dressed like Michael Jackson. But it was Muzan Kibutsuji, the demon king, who was disguised as a human Michael Jackson.
To escape the situation, Muzan transforms a man into a Demon and flees with his family as Tanjiro deals with the new demon. Why did the said demon king run away from Tanjiro? Well, Muzan has lived for a lot of years and one day, during his long life, he was brought close to death’s door by a demon slayer who had similar looks to Tanjiro.
A lady and a young boy helped Tanjiro deal with the demon and took him to their secret house where the lady introduces herself as a Demon doctor who treats patients. The young boy is a demon as well, and they’re trying to eliminate Muzan.
While they are discussing, they get distracted by demons that were sent by Muzan to attack them, Tanjiro ends up fighting a demon with arrows on his head while the others play a deadly game of handball with the other demon.
The fight was getting too long and deadly so the lady uses a spell that triggers Muzan’s curse inside one of the demons and the demon dies, leaving a scarred image in Tanjiro’s head.
After the fight, the lady and the young boy decide to leave the area and move to a new area now that Muzan might have known their location. Nezuko recognizes them both as her human family, and they say their goodbyes as Tanjiro leaves the city for his next assignment to the south-southeast.

4. Drum House Arc

Storyline:
As Tanjiro heads to the location of his new mission towards the south-southeast, he runs into one of the surviving candidates from the first arc. He runs into Zenitsu who seems to be a cowardly young man.
I guess their mission was the same, so the both of them went up a mountain where they found a mysterious house. While on their way to the house, they find two young kids who claimed that their elder sibling had been abducted and was taken into the house.
Tanjiro and Zenitsu head into the house. Even though Zenitsu was scared, he followed right behind Tanjiro. They were separated shortly after and tasked to protect one of the kids. By chance, Zenitsu meets another teenage demon slayer wearing a boar mask. Inosuke, the wild boar, charges through the home, attempting to destroy the same monster as the others.
Inosuke and Tanjiro clash with the Tsuzumi Demon, who controls the house. They are both finally whisked away, while the Tongue Demon pursues Zenitsu and the child throughout the house.
Zenitsu faints in fear, the wrong time to do that right? But there is a twist; Zenitsu demonstrates his remarkable Thunder Breathing powers while he was unconscious. He is at his strongest while unconscious. Simultaneously, the wild boar demonstrates his self-taught beast breathing techniques against a Horned Demon.
Tanjiro and the youngster he is with, track down the elder sibling and discover that the demons want to eat him because he has rare “marechi blood.”
Tanjiro and the demon clash once more and this time, the demon uses his Blood Demon Art ability to constantly modify the orientation of the room.
Tanjiro initially struggles because of the injuries he acquired in Asakusa but he is able to adjust to the changes. Upon regaining his spirit by modifying the shape of his water techniques, he finally defeats the demon.
Everyone reassembles outside, where Inosuke fights with Tanjiro and Zenitsu over Nezuko’s box. Inosuke attempts to slay the demon despite his complete lack of understanding of the issue.
Even though Zenitsu is in the same boat as Tanjiro, he does his best to protect the box. Tanjiro and Inosuke engage in a vicious fight, which finishes with Tanjiro concussing the wild boar with his rock-hard head.
The Demon Slayers and the children part ways, and the new trio stay over at the Wisteria Family Crest House. They get to know each other and Nezuko also appears. Zenitsu then realizes why Tanjiro is traveling with a Demon.

5. Natagumo Mountain Arc

Storyline:
In this arc, we see Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke go on their first mission together as they head up to Mount Natagumo. Like I said before, Zenitsu is a coward, he was too scared to climb the mountain so he stayed behind not entering deep into it.
Tanjiro and Inosuke went on deep into the mountain where they discovered that the mountain was filled with a lot of spider webs at every turn and the webs were being controlled by a demon.
Not long after, Zenitsu remembers that Tanjiro had carried Nezuko up into the mountain. By the way, Zenitsu is actually in love with Nezuko, so due to his feelings, he goes up into the mountain after her.
While Zenitsu was going into the mountain, Tanjiro and Inosuke were working together to defeat the Mother of the Spider Clan. Zenitsu, on his way, encounters another demon that has a spider body with a human head.
This spider-human head demon ends up poisoning Zenitsu but don’t worry, Zenitsu hones his ability and defeats the demon on his own.
Tanjiro attempts to treat Inosuke’s wounds from the fight with the mother of the spider family when they come upon the Sister and Father at the same time. Tanjiro and Inosuke are separated by the Father demon, which then goes on to fight Inosuke alone.
Meanwhile, during the separation, Tanjiro runs into another demon who seems to be the creator of the spider clan demons.
Then, Tanjiro and his sister end up fighting this demon on their own. While at that same time, two of the strongest demon slayers, Giyu and Shinobu arrive at the mountain to take on the demons.
Tanjiro and Nezuko fight to the point that they nearly defeat the demon with their newly awakened abilities. Tanjiro unlocked a fighting ability by using his father’s Hinokami Kagura: Dance and Nezuko unleashes her own Blood Demon Art: Exploding Blood.
However, the demon didn’t die; it survived and nearly killed both Tanjiro and Nezuko but luckily Giyu, one of the strongest demon slayers, arrives on time and defeats the demon, saving Tanjiro and Nezuko.
After they all defeat the demons, a fight is about to break out within themselves because of the fact that Nezuko is now a demon. But they are interrupted by a crow who tells them that Nezuko and Tanjiro should be taken into custody.

6. Functional Recovery Training
Storyline:
This arc kicks off with Tanjiro being brought up for a trial because he has been traveling with a demon who is his sister. Tanjiro tries to explain the reason why he has been traveling with his sister, but the Hashiras did not accept it except for Giyu.
Sanemi Shinazugawa, the Wind Hashira, refuses Tanjiro the most and even harms Nezuko for being a Demon by stabbing her three times through her wooden box.
But you know, being the big bro that Tanjiro is, he didn’t like that. While being restrained, he attacks the Wind Hashira, by head-butting him for hurting his sister.
The leader of the demon slayer corps or the leader of the Hashiras appeared and asked the Hashiras to forgive Tanjiro and his sister.

Sakonji, the ex-Water Hashira, issued a letter describing the circumstances and requesting that the Demon Slayer Corps look past it. He even stated that he and Giyu will commit ritualized suicide if Nezuko hurts people.
While Mitsuri Kanroji, the Love Hashira, and Shinobu, the Insect Hashira, are compassionate towards the siblings, and Muichiro Tokito, the Mist Hashira, is indifferent, the others refuse to accept it and inform the leader of the demon slayer corps about it.
One of the hashiras attempts to prove that Nezuko is an evil demon by allowing her to escape from the box and into an open room, then luring her with his own blood. Despite her injuries, Nezuko refuses to take the bait and proves that she will not hurt people.
After the trials, Tanjiro and Nezuko are transported to the Butterfly Mansion, where Zenitsu and Inosuke are receiving treatment for their injuries. While the other Demon Slayers heal, the Hashira begin their meeting with the leader.
After their injuries have healed, Tanjiro and the rest go through Rehabilitation Training under the supervision of Aoi Kanzaki, one of the Mansion’s nurses.
Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke initially have struggled with the training because they are unable to defeat Kanao in any shape or capacity.
The lads eventually regain their stamina and achieve total concentration: Constant, which allows them to perform the Breathing Technique all day and night.
Tanjiro’s troop heads west after completing their training to join the Flame Hashira, Kyojuro Rengoku, for the train mission. Meanwhile, Muzan demolishes the Lower Ranks and pursues his plans to destroy the Demon Slayer Corps.

7. Demon Train Arc
Storyline:
In this arc, Muzan assigns a demon to go kill Tanjiro if the demon wants to become an upper-rank demon and obtain more of Muzan’s blood and power. Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Inosuke purchase train tickets in search of Kyojuro Rengoku, the Flame Hashira.
When they meet the Flame Hashira, he informs them that he was sent on a mission to eliminate a demon suspected of being the source of many disappearances on the train at that moment.
He swiftly detects a demon and kills it. The gang, amazed by his abilities, requests that he make them Tsugukos, which Kyojuro agrees to.
The trio and Kyojuro fall asleep, and a demon enlists the assistance of five citizens aboard the train who are suffering from terrible sleeplessness. One of them is the conductor of the train, who follows the demon in order to dream of his late wife and child.

In exchange for their assistance in carrying out his plot to kill the Demon Slayers, the demon promises to utilize his powers to grant each of them pleasant, beautiful dreams. The group had already touched the demon’s blood by grabbing their tickets, kicking off the first act of the plan. As a reward for his efforts, the conductor is put to sleep, and the remaining four are left to carry out the remaining plan.
As a result of touching the tickets, the members of the group have vivid dreams while sleeping. Zenitsu fantasizes about going on a date with Nezuko; Inosuke fantasizes about being a “cave explorer” with Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Nezuko as his animal minions.
Kyojuro fantasizes about his brother’s and father’s steady descent into depression and how it affected the family. Meanwhile, Tanjiro wishes to be reunited with his family.
The demon’s minions complete the second stage of the demon’s plot by linking themselves to the group’s dreams via a rope and a specific spell that allows them to invade the dreams of others.
Due to the obvious nature of demon abilities, the dreams a person is shown exist in a confined region, with the outside being an unconscious area containing a person’s “spiritual core.” The unconscious area is regarded as an extension of a person’s personality, a metaphorical portrayal of how they are and their nature as a person.
Kyojuro’s body unconsciously moves and holds the person connected to his dream by the neck. Preventing any damage to his “spiritual core” from being destroyed which would render him unable to move, think, or feel, making him easy prey.
However, because he is unable to kill humans, Kyojuro is unable to progress further, resulting in a standstill for both of them.
Wow, I think I have given you enough spoilers, why don’t you tell me what happens next. So go ahead and watch the arc and keep me updated. Do you think they would be able to defeat this demon while they are asleep? Don’t worry, there are still a lot of twists in this arc.
