6. Jojo's Bizarre Adventures OVA

Release Date: 1994
Total Episodes: 13
Episode Duration: 30 minutes
Anime Storyline:
Jonathan Joestar’s father was the victim of a terrible accident. Dario Brando, a cruel alcoholic, was at the scene when it happened and saw it as an opportunity.
He saved the man in order to gain his gratitude, a plan that perfectly worked. Now in his debt, the nobleman agreed to fulfill any one wish of Dario.
The old crock was at the end of his life and demanded that he take in his son Dio and raise him as his own.
Dio is a dark person who, instead of being grateful, chose to become the one who casts the Joestar family into hell.
He acquired the powers of a cursed mask and turned into a vampire. He was eventually defeated by Jonathan and sealed away.
Back in the present, in 1988, we will follow the adventures of Kujo Jotaro, the great-great-grandson of Jonathan. He was a normal high school kid, raised by a loving family, popular at school, he couldn’t have asked more of life.
However, one day, he felt like something was inhabiting his body, and believed he was possessed. Scared of the possibility that he might someday lose control over his body. He locked himself up in a prison.
He finally understood what was happening to him when he witnessed his grandpa, Joseph Joestar in a fight.

The so-called spirit was actually his “Stand” or “Star Platinum”. It’s like the manifestation of fighting energy in a semi-solid form.
Like things weren’t hard and weird enough, his mother also suddenly acquired a Stand but fell very sick right after because her body couldn’t handle the power that she awakened.
It turned out that all those problems were caused by the vampire Dio Brando, who, after a hundred years, was released from his seal. Dio, who replaced his body with Jonathan’s, picked up his evil plan from where he left off in the past.
In order to save his mother and reclaim his ordinary life, he traveled with Joseph to Egypt to put an end to Dio Brando’s career for good this time!

The JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure series offers two Original Video Animation (OVA) sequences.
The first six original episodes that came out in 1993 and 1994 started off in the Egyptian desert where Joseph, Jotaro, Polnareff, and Kakyoin are looking for the revived vampire Dio Brando.
Assuming that all the viewers are probably up-to-date with the story, they offered little to no explanations of anyone’s backstory or the first half of Stardust Crusaders that had already aired.
I guess that wasn’t the case because in 2001 they made 7 extra prequel episodes for the fans that were still unfamiliar with the events of the previous seasons.

They started the story at the beginning of Stardust Crusaders. At the time, Joseph Joestar was returning to Japan to explain to Jotaro, who had locked himself in a prison, what was happening to him.
Because of that, the chronological order and the watching order are in reverse. To follow the story as it should be, begin by watching the 2001 episodes and then move on to the original ones that came out in 1993.

Comment Down Below Your favorite JJBA Series!

Everyone was super hyped when Jojo Bizarre Adventure came back in December 2021 with season 5.
The series took a nice long one-year break, and it’s normal for all the fans to rewatch the anime before getting back into the real stuff.
There are a total of 164 episodes up till now, and putting the OVA’s aside, Jojo Bizarre Adventure had a filler percentage of 0. The series is completely filler-free, and that’s how we like it!

Jojo Bizarre Adventure is one of the best anime that ever aired and one of the oldest. It’s very unique in more than one way, and the most obvious one, is of course, the art style.
It may not be to the liking of everybody, but no one can deny that it is one of the masterpieces of the anime world.
On this note, let’s end that anime filler guide with a nice quote from the author about his creation.
“My creation, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, can’t really be described in one word. I believe that is the very strength and weakness of this series. – Hirohiko Araki, series creator.
