Best Manga Like Jujutsu Kaisen

16+ Manga Like JUJUTSU KAISEN (Recommendations)

Jujutsu Kaisen has been the talk of the town since it arrived in Shonen Jump. It’s not that Jujutsu Kaisen has done something extraordinary, it’s just that Jujutsu Kaisen is great at bringing out the extra in the ordinary.

Be it the panels, dialogues, names, the world-building, embracing the flaws in characters, the power system, and most importantly the pacing of the manga, Jujutsu Kaisen feels like the greatest ever compilation of every Shonen Jump manga.

Jujutsu Kaisen is the ideal Shonen Jump manga everyone wished for.

Unfortunately, Jujutsu Kaisen is a weekly released manga, and reading a chapter per week doesn’t quench the never-ending thirst. So, for those who are looking for more manga like Jujutsu Kaisen, I have made a recommendation list of manga like Jujutsu Kaisen you will enjoy reading.

So, without any further ado, let’s begin the list of 17 Best Manga Like Jujutsu Kaisen.

Genre: ACTION, HORROR, SUPERNATURAL

Manga Storyline:

Iori Katanagi is a shaman who hates being a shaman. If not for his older sister Yayoi, Iori would have probably lazed around. However, when in need, there is no one more reliable than Iori Katanagi.

Similar to Jujutsu Kaisen, Phantom Seer is also heavily based on exorcisms and demons. While in Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuji is the host of the legendary curse, Sukuna, in Phantom Seer, Iori is the wielder of shadow demon, Ongyoki. And when both of them lose control either over Sukuna or Ongyoki, no one is safe around them be it friends or foes.

Unfortunately, Phantom Seer has just 32 chapters, but it was fun until it lasted. Wasted Potential.

Genre: ACTION, HORROR, SCI-FI

Manga Storyline:

As their name suggests, parasites take control over the human body after entering them through one of the numerous openings. Call it fortunate or unfortunate, the parasite trying to take over Shinichi Izumi was unable to go to the brain and instead stuck into his right arm.

Trying to fulfill both of their objectives, the parasite, now named Migi, joins hands with Izumi to erase the existence of Parasites from the earth.

Unlike Jujutsu Kaisen, Parasite is mostly a lone battle. But similar to Jujutsu Kaisen’s Yuji Itadori, Parasyte’s Shinichi Izumi is also a host of a being whom both of them are fighting against.

In terms of bloodshed, Parasyte has way more blood and gore compared to Jujutsu Kaisen. But that’s what makes Parayte a must-read for gore lovers.

Manga Storyline:

Jirou Azuma and his grandfather carry the lineage of shinobi. Jirou has the supernatural ability to communicate with animals and befriend them. One day, after saving a seemingly normal black cat, he realizes that it’s a mononoke. One that’s been in a battle with mankind for a long time.

Trying to save Ragou, the black cat from another feisty mononoke, Jirou’s life is hanging by a thread. Seeing that, Ragou decides to transfer all his powers to Jirou, bestowing him with more supernatural abilities.

Black Torch Manga

Black Torch only has 19 chapters with each chapter ranging from 40-50 pages each. So if you wanna have a quick read that involves supernatural abilities and spirits, Black Torch is the one for you.

Just like Yuji gaining even more strength after devouring Sukuna’s finger, Jirou gains more abilities after being bestowed by Ragou’s powers.

Also, don’t you think, Black Torch’s Jirou and Chainsaw Man’s Denji had quite a similar beginning, as in merging with a mononoke Ragou, and Pochita the Chainsaw Devil respectively?

There has to be something that makes Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba a trillion yen franchise.

Yes, A WHOPPING TRILLION YEN.

Tanjiro Kamado is the sole breadwinner of his household. After coming back a day after selling charcoal, Tanjiro witnesses a bloodbath where the only one alive is his sister, Nezuko, unfortunately, she is now a demon. Vowing to turn her back into a human and find the one behind his family’s murder, Tanjiro Kamado joins the Demon Slayer Corps.

Demon Slayer 1

Action, Drama, Comedy, you name it, and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has it all. Though the art might seem not up to the standard at the beginning, soon you will realize it is the art that makes Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba one of the most popular Shonen manga of the current times.

With only 205 chapters, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is an excellent read for those who want to read a compelling shonen manga like Jujutsu Kaisen. Both Tanjiro and Yuji have nearly similar values when it comes to the lives of human beings, so you will relate to Tanjiro if you already did with Yuji.

A delinquent turned into a Spirit Detective. That’s how it was for Yusuke Urameshi. While trying to save a child from getting into a car accident, he loses his life but his heroic deed was awarded an opportunity to return to life by Koenma, the Spirit World Ruler’s son.

Written by our beloved Yoshihiro Togashi, Yu Yu Hakusho is all about spirits and supernatural beings. Talking about Togashi, I want…NO! We all want new Hunter x Hunter chapters. It’s been too long.

Coming back to the topic, if you are looking for manga like Jujutsu Kaisen, Yu Yu Hakusho is a classic shonen you won’t regret reading.

And there have been a lot of Yu Yu Hakusho references in Jujutsu Kaisen. Were you able to point out those references?

His suspicions are confirmed when he sees Kabane in a state which is not quite human, following which he decides to take Kabane with him.

Sometimes Kemono Jihen is sweeter than candy and sometimes poisonous as the snake’s venom. That’s how different it is from any other manga in this list, Kemono Jihen is a wholesome yet gory story. It’s like a roller coaster ride, you will love it and hate it at the same time.

I will strongly recommend Kemono Jihen if you are looking for something similar to Jujutsu Kaisen.

Manga Storyline:

If you are not up for gore, hardcore action, and want something sweet, Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun is written just for you.

The legend of one of the seven mysteries, Hanako-san, a ghost of a young girl residing on the third floor of the school has been quite popular. Anyone who summons her will get a wish granted.

Trying to boost her love life, Nene Yashiro summons Hanako-san, surprisingly, she turns out to be a he. (Not a gender bender though, don’t get your hopes too high.)

Following a chain of events, Nene ends up being Hanako-san’s assistant.

The art will melt your heart, and I can bet on the art that it is the most unique and most enjoyable out of all the names on this list. The art style will make you crave for more of it,  just like sweets.

Though Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun might seem too sweet at times, beware of the disturbing events that take place in the manga as it takes the element of the spiritual world very seriously.

That’s also the reason why Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun is on the list of similar manga like Jujutsu Kaisen.

Genre: ACTION, FANTASY, SCI-FI, HORROR

Manga Storyline:

To protect Japan against the never-ending attacks of gigantic beasts called Kaiju, a specialized military unit called the Defense Corps was formed. They kill those beasts and the sweepers clean up the remains in the battle area.

Among the sweepers is Kafka Hibino who failed to fulfill his dream of joining the military unit. But soon after a parasite-type kaiju enters through his mouth, he becomes a Kaiju whose existence threatens humanity making him the instant target of the military.

Kaiju No. 8 is undoubtedly one of the most simple, clean, and entertaining in terms of story, art, and pacing. If you don’t wanna solve puzzles or think about hidden mysteries while reading, Kaiju No. 8 is for you. Straight to the point. No bull poop.

Though Kaiju No. 8 is fairly new with only 47 chapters as of now, it has many similarities with Jujutsu Kaisen, especially Yuji and Kafka both being a threat to humanity and both of them being up for execution.

Now turned into a heated debate, both Ken and Momo place a bet to find out which one of them is true and when both visit two different locations to prove their beliefs, it turns out neither of them was wrong.

There are many stories in Shonen Jump, most of them are about finding treasure, friendships, and mind-blowing tournament arcs. But when it comes to Dandadan, the star of the show is Ken Takakura’s testicles, aliens, ghosts, and everything occultic.

Dandadan Manga

Yes, DEEZ NUTS. Yukinobu Tatsu went straight for the balls and he is nailing it this far.

The art is like polished marble and the comedy will make your stomach hurt.

With only 29 chapters till now, Dandadan is a must-read for anyone looking for recommendations of manga like Jujutsu Kaisen.

8. Dorohedoro

Dorohedoro

30/40

Genre: ACTION, HORROR, COMEDY

Manga Storyline:

Strong Prey on the Weak, that’s what Dorohedoro’s world is based upon.

That reminds me, I recently watched Itaewon Class, the K-Drama adapted from a Webtoon and that idiom seems to be a premise in that one too.

Anyways, moving on.

Murder, experiments on humans, death is as normal as the sun rising every day in the dark and heaven for outlaws known as Hole.

Dorohedoro Manga

In a world where strong sorcerers rule, Caiman has a human body with a reptile head. Trying to pull an end to his endless nightmares, Caiman pursues the mystery behind his reptile head along with Nikaido, his only ally in this quest.

Beating everyone in the race, Dorohedoro is not just good at being hilarious at times, but also dark, mysterious, and extremely terrifying in some cases. It’s a more dark, witty, and mysterious version of Jujutsu Kaisen.

And that’s also why Dorohedoro is a Seinen manga and not a Shonen like Jujutsu Kaisen. But if you wanna taste something a little spicier than Jujutsu Kaisen, Dorohedoro is the manga you are looking for.

7. Blue Exorcist

Satan’s son, Rin Okumura is raised by a human. Seeking revenge against Satan for killing his foster father, he joins True Cross Academy to become an exorcist. Along with his twin brother, Yukio Okumura, Rin aims to become an exorcist to eradicate Satan.

Similar to Jujutsu Kaisen, the protagonist loses his loved ones at the beginning and joins an academy to become stronger to save the others close to him.

Supernatural entities are a key element in both Blue Exorcist and Jujutsu Kaisen. If you have already watched the anime, don’t worry, the manga has a lot of chapters that weren’t adapted, and were replaced by original episodes. So you can enjoy the story all over again without getting bored.

Manga Storyline:

Abandoned as newborns, Asta and Yuno have grown up in a church with other orphans. While both of them dream of becoming the Wizard King, Asta is unfortunately devoid of Magic. Growing up, Yuno gets a four-leaf clover grimoire, and while trying to save Yuno from a grimoire thief, Asta was bestowed upon with the mysterious five-leaf clover grimoire.

If not for the inconsistent animation quality, Black Clover would have gained more readers for the manga, which is way better than what the anime portrays.

With its breathtaking art, striking action panels, and one of the most perfect shonen materials out there, Black Clover is for anyone who loves anything action and supernatural. Just go for it. You won’t regret it.

In the list of manga like Jujutsu Kaisen, you can simply close your eyes and give Black Clover a shot. It’s a no-brainer.

5. Bleach

Manga Storyline:

It doesn’t matter if you are a beginner or a veteran in the anime/manga community. It doesn’t matter if you have or haven’t read it or watched it. You already know about Bleach. Not the chemical one, the one written by Tite Kubo.

Bleach follows the life of Ichigo Kurosaki who sees the spirits of deceased humans. One day, he comes across Rukia Kuchiki, a soul reaper who accidentally transfers all her power to Ichigo, who defeats the hollow that harmed his family. Now a Soul Reaper, Ichigo has to face one trouble after the other to earn the trust of the soul society.

Interestingly, Jujutsu Kaisen’s Gege Akutami was heavily inspired by Tite Kubo’s Bleach which led him to draw manga.

Bleach Manga

What can I say about Bleach, the manga? Once considered as the Big 3 alongside Naruto and One Piece, Bleach continues to inspire and entertain one generation after the other with Tite Kubo’s chic and timeless art style and engaging storyline.

If you have watched the anime, I would still suggest you read Bleach to know why it was and still is such a brand.

You can sense the style and many other minute details that scream “Inspired from Bleach” in Jujutsu Kaisen, so do read Bleach if you haven’t already.

4. My Hero Academia

Genre: ACTION, SUPERPOWER, SCHOOL

Manga Storyline:

You just need to make the protagonist eat any part of the human body and he will become the savior of humanity against evil. Cannibalism to Heroism!

Deku swallowing All Might’s hair in My Hero Academia is similar to Jujutsu Kaisen’s Yuji swallowing Sukuna’s finger. Sounds delicious, wanna try?

Deku is quirkless in a world where quirk is the only way of becoming a pro hero. His dream of becoming a hero came true when the hero he idolized, All Might passed onto his quirk to Deku. And thus begins the story of a quirkless guy whose life suddenly turned upside down after receiving the quirk from the No. 1 hero.

My Hero Academia Manga

From Hair to Heir. An unforgettable tale of a hair.

From characters to the values of protagonists, My Hero Academia has a lot of similarities with Jujutsu Kaisen. An easy recommendation to anyone who wants to read the non-sorcery version of Jujutsu Kaisen.

3. Chainsaw Man

Genre: ACTION, SUPERPOWER, SCHOOL

Manga Storyline:

To pay his debt, Denji kills devils with his pet devil, Pochita. The only thing Denji ever wanted was good food, peaceful life, and women. Little did he know that he would be soon killed by the yakuza he worked for.

Fortunately, Pochita merges with Denji and he becomes the Chainsaw Man. Following this, one incident after the other led him to become an official devil hunter.

As simple as it sounds, the crazier it is when you read it. Written by none other than Tatsuki Fujimoto, Chainsaw Man is by far his craziest manga. The art, the unpredictability of the plot, betrayals, and the exceptional pacing makes Chainsaw Man a must-read if you want a quick read.

Bomb Girl Arc

In both Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen, the characters have their priorities straight. Just like Jujutsu Kaisen’s Itadori Yuji and his BROTHER Aoi Todo loves tall girls, Chainsaw Man’s Denji also loves women.

Do you need any other similarities with Jujutsu Kaisen to start reading Chainsaw Man?

And believe me, when I say this, you can binge read the 97 chapters within hours, that’s how well-written it is.

It’s addictive, attractive, and astonishing. Oh and don’t go and get attached to your favorite character, because in Chainsaw Man, no one’s safe. You might end up heartbroken.

Seeing that, the executioner, Asaemon the Decapitator, asks Gabimaru to join an expedition team to find the elixir of life said to be in the southern islands of Japan. It is said to be paradise. Finding that elixir will terminate the order of his execution.

Elixir of life? In paradise? Is it a paradise or a hell disguised as a paradise?

jigokuraku spread 1024x768 1

A very unique storyline in this day and age makes Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku, a must-read. Especially Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku being the member of the Dark Trio along with Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man.

Shonen Jump is nailing it with such dark-themed stories. Coincidentally, Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku is also getting an anime adaptation just like Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man.

With only 128 chapters, it’ll be a fun read if you are looking for manga like Jujutsu Kaisen.

Manga Storyline:

Naruto has been shunned by the whole Hidden Leaf village  since his childhood. For being the host of the nine-tailed fox that nearly destroyed the village, Naruto has lived the life of a prankster who wants nothing but love and attention.

Growing up all alone, Naruto finds himself surrounded by Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno in Team 7 and begins the tale of eternal friendship. But one thing has never changed since childhood, Naruto’s dream of becoming the Hokage of the Village Hidden in the Leaves.

Naruto Manga

If there was an award for the most healing and endearing shonen manga of all time, Naruto would have won the award every single time. But it doesn’t mean it is lackluster in other sections. Be it action, drama, comedy, tear-jerking moments, and awe-inspiring characters, no one can beat Naruto in the shonen category.

If Bleach looks like the skin of an apple, Naruto is like the flesh of it. The apple being Jujutsu Kaisen.

And if you are looking for character, bonds, and action similar to Jujutsu Kaisen, Naruto might be the manga you are looking for.
