ALL Platinum End (Characters) Wiki
Good morning, afternoon, or evening to all you manga and Anime! Today, we prepared you all with a list briefly discussing the characters of the Platinum End series.
Before I begin this blog, I want to say that Platinum End is a completely fictional story. None of it is true. Why am I saying this? Well because sometimes readers can get a bit too engrossed in an anime or manga. Now I’m not singling out Platinum End alone, I mean this with every fictional piece of work.
Table of Contents
Platinum End is so realistic, that I felt as though I was part of their reality. It’s scary how good these authors can make such AMAZING stories. I hope I didn’t spoil the mood, but I just wanted to get that out there.
Without further ado, let’s get started. But first, allow me to introduce you to the Platinum End manga.
What is Platinum End about?
Platinum End is written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata. Do you know what other manga they worked on? The legendary Death Note series.
If you don’t know about Death Note, then are you really into anime and manga? Both Platinum End and Death Note contain heavy and dark elements in their plots. It’s not some fairytale you can read to your siblings or kids at night.
The premise of Platinum End is that one of the selected few can become the god of the new world. This means that the chosen candidate can do as they wish with humanity. Doesn’t that sound familiar? Light from Death Note wanted to bestow judgment and justice upon those he thought were evil.
Light was only a human, so who was he to act like he was a god? Was he in the wrong to act like something he was not? Even though he believed it was for the good of mankind? Well, this ideology of his is continued into the Platinum End series.

The main character of Platinum End is Mirai, who in the very first chapter, tries to (Trigger warning: Self-Harm) commits suicide. His parents were murdered, he lives with an abusive aunt and uncle, and he is relentlessly bullied at school.
Mirai, unlike most people, did not hate anyone. He was simply finished with life. There was nothing enjoyable about waking up every day to only have your neck stepped. When he graduates high school, he finally decides he’s had enough. He arrives at the top of a building, steps on the outer ledge, and falls to his death.
But before he could close his eyes and rest in peace, an angel showed up. Angel Nasse saves him from his end and offers him an opportunity to become a God candidate. The fate of humanity will befall on one of thirteen random suicidal candidates. Yeah, they were all suicidal.

Mirai accepts Nasse’s offer, but on one condition, he gets the abilities of both Wings and Angel’s Arrow. Nasse made it seem like he could choose one of the two, but she complied with Mirai’s request and revealed that it was only tradition to ask a candidate to choose.
Mirai didn’t want to pick either one, he just wanted to die. That’s why he asked for both powers to make it so that he was denied access to the game. How will Mirai use these superpowers? Will protect the people of Japan with his wings? Or will he cause havoc with his Angel Arrows?
Table of Content
The Candidates - Part a
The characters below are God candidates. The candidates are separated into two categories on this list. They must kill one another to win this game. By killing a god candidate, you get the dead’s abilities.

Mirai Kakehashi
Mirai is a fifteen-year-old boy who usually sports a more solemn, gloomy look. He’s the main protagonist of Platinum End. Mirai was chosen by the angel Nasse as a god candidate.
(Trigger warning: Self-Harm) In the first chapter of Platinum End, we see Mirai try to commit suicide. That was an extremely dark introduction to the main character of the series (Platinum End Manga: Chapter 1).
I don’t think I’ll ever understand Mirai. He was terribly abused as a kid (Platinum End Manga: Chapter 1), yet he never held any grudges. Mirai didn’t even hate anyone. I will never be as forgiving as him, nor do I want to. That’s one of his traits that drew me into his character.
Remember how I said he’s a God candidate? Yeah, he doesn’t want to be one. So why is he going along with it? To protect Saki and himself from Metropolitans.

Saki Hanakago
Saki is a young girl who used to be friends with Mirai since they were little (Platinum End Manga: Chapter 2).
However, later on at school, everyone starts bullying him. We’re talking about a boy that lost his parents but also is living with his abusive aunt and uncle.
Saki ends up following in her classmates’ footsteps and partakes in bullying Mirai. But she felt so bad about it, (Trigger warning: Self-Harm) that she also tries to commit suicide.
Here’s a piece of advice; just don’t bully people under any circumstance. It sucks; it’s the worst feeling knowing that every day you wake up is a day in hell.

Yuri Temari
This 23-year-old beauty is also a God candidate. She was selected by the angel Yazeli. Her goal in life is to live out the rest of her years in comfort with her Red Arrow Powers (Platinum End Manga: Chapter 28) . I deem her as the best girl of the series. BUT THAT’S JUST MY OPINION EVERYONE.
Her power is the Red Arrow. The Red Arrow has this ability where if you shoot the arrow at someone, they will fall in love with her for 33 days. Now, I don’t need to be shot to be in love with her. Once you read Platinum End, you’ll get what I’m talking about okay.

Shuji Nakumi
Shuji is a thirteen-year-old boy who is also a God candidate. He was chosen by the angel Ogaro. He has very deep eye bags. Well, it’s not like I’m one to judge. I could stuff cookies in my under-eye bags with how big they are. Is that too much? Probably.
When he first showed up (Platinum End Manga: Chapter 31), I got the chills. Doesn’t he look like a little L from Death Note?
But man, a thirteen-year-old?! Gosh, when I was thirteen, I was watching Dragon Ball Z on Friday Mornings while munching on some Pop-Tarts. Yeah, I don’t have these kids’ stamina that’s for sure.

Gaku Yoneda
Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to introduce you to the last God candidate of the Platinum End series: Gaku Yoneda.
He’s a retired professor at Tokyo University (Platinum End Manga: Chapter 31), and he also was one of the youngest few to win a Nobel Prize—which is an insane accomplishment!
Professor Gaku Yoneda won a Nobel Prize in both literature and physics. Those are two polar opposites.
The Candidates - Part B
This is the other batch of God candidates. I wanted to separate them based on one thing. Once you finish the manga, come back and see if you can guess the criteria I used to separate the candidates into two groups.
Another fact about the candidates is that they are all Japanese. Why? Japan has a high rate of suicide despite it being a blessed country. Again, all thirteen of these candidates were suicidal. That’s pretty depressing.

Susumu Yuito
Susumu is a God candidate chosen by the angel Penema. I didn’t know what to think when I first saw Susumu (Platinum End Manga: Chapter 7). We just saw a picture of him. That’s it.
I was worried about him when he was introduced to the series. Naturally, we learn more about him as the manga progresses.
He gives his full support to Mirai, and even shares with the public the existence of god candidates.

Nanato Mukaido
Nanato is a God candidate that was chosen by the angel Baret. He has a wife, a daughter, and another soon-to-be child on the way.
He’s a 30-year-old man who will do anything to protect his family. Unfortunately, he is diagnosed with cancer, and he has only three months to live.
So how will Nanato continue to be with his family? By becoming a God candidate.

Kanade Uryuu
You don’t know who Kanade Uryu is? Does Metropoliman ring a bell? Yup, Kanade is the first antagonist of the series.
He is a God candidate that was chosen by Angel Meyza. This dude is merciless. He can take peoples’ lives without a second thought.
Since he was born with a silver spoon in his foul mouth, he’s an arrogant human being. He despises anything that’s ugly. I’m always rooting for the anti-heroes, but Kanade is pure evil. He’s nothing like Itachi or Eren.

Hajime Sokotani
Hajime is a God candidate who was chosen by the angel Balta. He’s a socially awkward person, but that’s because of all the negativity that was constantly thrown at him.
Hajime is a young boy that struggled with his appearance. In the end, he had plastic surgery performed on him so that he could look more ‘beautiful’ (Platinum End Manga: Chapter 14).
See, this is what I meant as Platinum End being too realistic in the introduction. This character touched my insecurities in the most unexpected way.
You don’t know who I am or what I look like, that’s why I’m not hesitating in showing you my true personality. However, I’m very self-conscious of my physical appearance so I try to not talk a lot in order to not get noticed.

I’m too aware of how I appear to society, and that is a daily struggle of mine. It hurts me to watch Hajime and his inner battles with himself because it reminds me of my own. This isn’t something one or two people face, this is a universal problem. Everyone wants to change at least one thing about their looks.
I thought his freckles were adorable, but he didn’t. I liked his button nose, but he didn’t (Platinum End Manga: Chapter 14). This is a prime example of wanting to reach out to a character, but you can’t because reality and fiction are separated by paper and pencil.

Shogo Hatekayama
Shogo is a God candidate chosen by the Angel Emaka. He has two abilities which are Wings and Red Arrows.
Before he became a candidate, he failed the entrance exam of his college of choice for the third time. Saburo, on the other hand, failed his entrance exam for the first time.
These two met, and in the end, decided to (Trigger warning: Self-Harm) commit suicide together to avoid the shame of their failure.
But before they die, they are met with two angels. These angles offer them a chance to become God candidates. Shogo and Saburo agree and make a pact with these angels.
However, they make a pact with each other as well: whoever becomes the winner of the game must treat the other to their desires. So, they believe this will be a win-win for them

Tonma Rodriguez
Tonma is a God candidate chosen by the angel Luta. (SPOILER) He’s actually the first candidate to be eliminated by Metropoliman (Platinum End Manga: Chapter 2). Remember, Metropoliman is Kanade Uryu.
Tonma is as selfish as he is muscular. His greed never fails to disgust me. His ability is the Red Arrow, and this guy does not try to hold back on using it.
He has women falling head over heels for him because of the Red Arrows. His ego is the size of a stadium. It’s unfathomable how self-absorbed he can be.
Before he became a God candidate, he was a comedian that nobody remembered (Platinum End Manga: Chapter 2). So, I don’t know why he thinks he’s all that when he never was.

Chiyo Nakayama
Chiyo is a young girl who was chosen by the angel Jami as a God candidate. She’s a fragile girl. This could be due to all the bullying she gets in school Chiyo is an average girl, so it was upsetting to (SPOILER) see her get shot by Metropoliman’s Red Arrow.
Her ability is Wings, so she can fly. She doesn’t have Angel Arrows, and with her weak drive, she’s really at a disadvantage in this battle of royale.

Saburo
Saburo is a God candidate chosen by the angel Egura. His abilities are Wings and Red Arrows.
He and Shogo Hatakeyama both failed their college entrance exams. To prevent them from experiencing the shame of failing these tests, they decide to (Trigger warning: Self-Harm) commit suicide.
Before they do it, two angels appear before them and offer the chance of becoming a god candidate. Saburo and Shogo agree to the angels’ offer.
He wears a Metroyellow superhero costume whenever he wants to keep his identity a secret (Platinum End Manga: Chapter 5).
The Thirteen Angels
There are thirteen angels in total in the Platinum End Manga. They are categorized by rank. The ranges of these ranks are categorized by highest to lowest and it is as follows: special rank, first rank, second rank, and last but certainly not least, unranked.

Nasse
Nasse is an Angel. Oh, but not just any angel; she’s a special ranked one at that. She’s adorable too. Nasse has pale skin with short white hair and ruby red eyes.
She is also known as Angel of Purity. I don’t know if you’d consider this an ability, but if Nasse can tell whether a person is lying or not (Platinum End Manga: Chapter 7).
She’s the one that selected Mirai as a god candidate back in chapter one of the manga! Nasse is a sweetheart that needs to be protected.

Meyza
Meyza is an angel who chose Kanade Uryu as her God candidate. Like Nasse, Meyza is a special-ranked angel.
She’s also known as the Angel of Lust. I didn’t know angels could be named after a debatably impure emotion. Is lust impure? If I compare it to love, then yes, but do I need to compare it with another emotion to tell whether it’s inappropriate or not?
Anyway, let’s get back to the blog instead of focusing on my inner philosophical crisis.

Revel
Before I start on Revel’s general background, I have to mention one thing: I love his eyes. The way they are shaped, and the color of his irises are stunning.
At the start of Platinum End, Revel was a second rank angel. That’s still pretty good. But later on, he bumps up to first rank (Platinum End Manga: Chapter 16).
When he was a second-ranked angel, he was known as Angel of Trickery. Since he had such low self-esteem, he was quite manipulative. But when he went up a rank, he began to understand humans. That’s when he became known as the Angel of Emotion.

Baret
Baret is the angel that chose Nanato Mukaido as a God candidate (Platinum End Manga: Chapter 7). She’s a first ranking angel, so when she means business, she means business.
She has gorgeous mossy green eyes that contrast perfectly to her pale white skin and hair color. She’s known as the Angel of Knowledge.
Fun Fact: She used to be a special rank, but because Revel said in chapter seven that she was demoted because she was a know-it-all– which I find hilarious.

Jami
Jami is an angel that chose Chiyo Nakayama as a God candidate (Platinum End Manga: Chapter 7). He is of the second rank.
He has short white hair and a golden band that wraps in the front of his forehead. He really looks like an angel. I want to pinch his cheeks—it’s not fair!

Egura
Egura is an angel that chose Saburo Tabuchi as a god candidate (Platinum End Manga: Chapter 7). She’s a first-ranking angel. Her abilities are Red Arrows and Wings.
She covers her left blue eye with her white hair. But why? I want to see her full face!

Emaka
Don’t you think Emaka is a pretty name? It rhymes with Baka, but I won’t bring that up.
She’s a first-rank Angel who chose Shogo Hatakeyama as a God candidate. She has gold eyes and short white hair. On her forehead is a golden band. Her abilities are Wings and Red Arrows.
She looks kind of like Egura, but with a smaller and rounder face.

Luta
Luta is an angel that chose Tonma Rodriguez as a god candidate. He’s a second rank angel, and his only ability is Wings.
He’s an easygoing guy that brushes off negative situations in an instant. An example of this would be when his (SPOILER) God candidate died. He wasn’t worked up over Tonma’s death, instead, he wanted to know more about Tonma’s killer (Platinum End Manga: Chapter 2).
Luta is one peculiar dude.

Yazeli
Doesn’t he remind you of that one hero? Thor? Or was it Hawk guy or Hawk man? Are you angry that I don’t know who?
Anyway, Yazeli is an angel that chose Yuri Temari as a god candidate. He is of the second rank, and he is known as the Angel of Truth.

Penema
Penema is an angel that chose Susumu Yuito as a God candidate. He is of the first rank and is known as the Angel of Games.
He’s a witty guy that simply wants to be entertained (Platinum End Manga: Chapter 28). His abilities are Red Arrows and Wings.

Ogaro
Ogaro is an angel whose god candidate is Shuji Nakaumi. She is of the first rank and is known as Angel of Darkness.
Can someone explain how an angel, a being of light, is known for the darkness? When I was a kid, I never understood that name or how it came to be. Orgaro even looks bright. Oh well.
She’s ethereal too.

Muni
Oof, this guy visibly looks like what he’s known for. Muni is known as the Angel of Destruction. Even though he is an angel, he takes on a more humanoid appearance which is unsettling.
I was reading the manga late at night, and when I first saw him (Platinum End Manga: Chapter 28), I lost it. I couldn’t sleep! Every time I’d close my eyes, I’d see him. It was horrifying.
Muni is a special rank angel, so he’s a lot higher in status than most of the thirteen angels.
Humans (Other Characters)
These are characters that are not angels and that are also not candidates. Most of them are creepy, so I’m glad that they don’t have their powers. Otherwise, the streets would be slathered in blood and innocent lives

Mimimi Yamada
Do not be fooled everyone! This girl is a serial killer. Do you know what her preference is for her victims? Cute girls. Well, at least I’m off the hook. She’s sinister and disturbing.
I don’t care if she’s attractive. Can I tell you what makes her even more frightening? She has a bubbly personality. She laughs and giggles when she’s slicing her targets.
Sometimes if she’s feeling a tad bit frisky, she’ll engage in Rated R play with her victims before cutting them open. I just don’t get it.
She once said that she wants to kill people because it’s thrilling and that she still wants to kill more (Platinum End Manga: Chapter 8).
Mimimi is connected to Metropoliman because she was hit with one of his Red Arrows (Platinum End Manga: Chapter 7). He commands her to murder ugly girls. They’re both crazy!
Fact that I don’t find it to be fun: Mimimi means beautiful. Excuse me while I go barf in the corner.

Mirai's Uncle
I hate this guy. This piece of you know, ####. Instead of doting on him, he abused him terribly.
From the bottom of my heart, I hope this character burns in Hell an infinite number of times. I hope you stub your toe every time you walk past a table. I hope that you only successfully plug into your USB port after 66 tries.
He manipulated Mirai and even forced him into being his slave. He stole money from the insurance he got after Mirai started living with him.
It’s just awful. He was the one that decided to kill Mirai’s parents (Platinum End Manga: Chapter 1).
(SPOILER) Mirai gets his revenge by using a Red Arrow to have his uncle confess about his parents’ murder (Platinum End Manga: Chapter 3).

Mirai's Aunt
I have never wished anything ill upon a person. Sure, I’ll swear at you, I’m no Saint, but I won’t pray for you to get hit by a bus or something.
However, today’s an exception. Not just for the aunt, but also the uncle. Why would you abuse anyone, let alone an orphan? I teared up while reading Mirai’s tragic history. It’s not fair.
(SPOILER) She was the one that murdered Mirai’s parents (Platinum End Manga: Chapter 1). Why? For the money.

Kohinata Fuyuko
Kohinata Fuyuko is a Pharmaceutical Researcher. She doesn’t make medicine to help save lives. She doesn’t create machines that may aid in hospital management and healthcare.
She loves to make biological weapons. Kohinata tests these weapons to experiment on animals and even humans. Her badass nature makes my legs shake.
Kohinata looks like an evil nurse that’s ready to worsen your fever, and have you vomit blood. When I first saw her (Platinum End Manga: Chapter 17), I thought it was game over for Mirai. She’s scary!
She was scouted by this mysterious, unknown organization because she was very knowledgeable about human experimentation and manufacturing biological weapons.
conclusion

Is that it? Oh, wow. I guess this marks the end of our Platinum End Character List. Platinum End is a manga that terrifies me a bit. When I was introduced to Platinum End, it didn’t sound like my cup of tea. I was hesitant because it is about thirteen different suicidal people.
Suicide is a topic that needs to be talked about more in our society. It’s a deadly issue that affects the global population. We got to see many unique characters with relatable backgrounds and how they were driven to their demise.I used to ignore these negative emotions that manifested in me and the insecurities I have. But after reading this manga, I could no longer look away.

Platinum End is an intimate and sensitive story that does a great job of making its plot as realistic as possible. The manga is completed with 58 named chapters. This Psychological, Supernatural Drama is sure to sweep you off your feet!
If you don’t want to read the manga, then I’ve got news for you! It has an anime adaption that’s actually airing today on October 8, 2021! The anime cour consists of 24 episodes, so I suggest you wait a little bit until a few episodes come out. It’s better to watch everything in one go in my opinion.
Please give this manga a shot, but only when you’re stable enough to do so. And the ANIME IS OUT!
