manhwa apps of all time

21+ BEST Manhwa Apps (IOS, Android, Browser)

Updated February 18, 2023 by Ernie

Drum roll please! Today, we will be presenting you with a superb blog about the 23 Best Manhwa Apps. The rankings and selections are entirely based on my opinions, so none of this is factual.

Table of Contents

Down below, I have listed the apps’ website links and various platforms that you can use them on. I rank them based on manhwa collection, user experience, and the overall total of the scores.

The good news is that it includes some of the best and most popular apps available on IOS, Android, and web browser platforms.

The manhwa collection is based on the number of manhwas found on the app. The user experience depends on how easy the app is to use. But if you prefer reading on websites, check out our blog on the best manhwa websites!

Without further ado, let’s get started with this special blog!

THE BEST MANHWA/WEBTOON APPS

25) Archie Comics

Archie Comics 1

Do you know what this app was initially created for? It was to sell the US based Archie comics. Who would have guessed?

However, they have expanded their marketplace to just more than US comics. Certain manhwa can now be purchased there.

I’m going to let you in on a secret: Archie Comics should not be ranked as 23. In all honesty, it shouldn’t be on this list. So, why did I put it on here? Well because I want the anime and manhwa community to be more prevalent in Western Society.

An example of this is when Alex Segura, who is the co-president of Archies Comics, announced in 2021, that it will be partnering with Webtoon.

I’ve lived my entire childhood in the US, and not once did I walk into a bookstore and found a manhwa or manga. It’s always DC and Marvel comics. I want INTERESTING STUFF, I want diversity. Call me selfish for including it, but at least understand where I’m getting at.

24) Manta Comics

Manta Logo

Get ready for a wild reading ride with Manta Comics! This app is a perfect fit for you if you’re looking for a vast collection of manhwa, available on both Android and iOSdevices. And let me tell you, reading too much of it might “sting” you (get it? Because manta rays have stings in their tails! Wink, wink!).

Enough dad jokes! Let’s get down to business! With Manta Comics, you can enjoy a wide range of manhwa for free, no need to break that wee piggy bank. Yet you still need to access some of its unlimited platforms. Some of its offers include 3.99 bucks a month.

If you’re the generous ones then 4 bucks is a small price to pay, right? So, go ahead and install it now! But if you’re one with the stingy ones… get it? Stingy? HAHA! GOT YA AGAIN! But we all are stingy! So do not worry there are still plenty of lists you can dive into!

Tory coms MConverter.eu

Ladies and Gentlemen, let me introduce thee to ToryComics, a digital tome that doth offer a bounty of tales, in diverse tongues, for thy perusal and pleasure. 21) Madefire Comics and Motion Books

Madefire

Anything free sounds like a good deal to me. Millions of people all over the world use Madefire Comics and Motion Books to access their favorite reads—and manhwa is no exception.

Later on in this blog, I keep talking about how some of these websites not only have manhwa but manga and comics. The same goes for Madefire Comics and Motion Books, however, it also has news articles and comic-related topics. There are more than generic comics on here.

20) Dark Horse Comics

dark horse

The digital pieces of Dark Horse Comics can be found on Google Play, Barnes & Noble, iBooks, Kobo, etc. Dark Horse Comics doesn’t just sell manhwa or other literature work.

What’s unique about this app is that it has a zoom mode, which if you’re like me and your vision sucks, is always a great feature to have.

If you are a Bride of the Water God fan or Shaman Warrior geek, this is the app for you!

19) COMIXOLOGY

Fun fact about COMIXOLOGY: it’s owned by Amazon. Now, if you’re not into Jeffree Bezos, this might not be it for you.

However, I have to admit, this is one sleek app. They have comics, movies turned to comics, COMIXOLOGY originals, manga, manhwa, graphic novels, and more!

I still don’t vibe with Bezos, but I mean, no wonder the man is filthy rich.

It has over 75,000 titles. That’s quite a bit of an option, don’t you think?

18) Comica

Comica 1

Comica is a free reading app that not only has comics but it also has manhwa. There are more than 100 Korean titles in the app.

A feature that I liked in Comica is that you can download chapters of a series so that when you don’t have internet access, you can simply read the chapters you downloaded.

Click To Download Comica: Comica

17) Viz Manga

viz

Come on now. You have to know about Viz Manga! Like I said before, even though Viz Manga has the word Manga in its name, it doesn’t mean there isn’t any manhwa on it.

In the blog of Best Manga Apps on Quote The Anime, we said that Viz Manga isn’t as available as Manga Plus worldwide. Be sure to check that page out!

Manga Plus can be used internationally, as opposed to Viz Manga which seems to favor the Western Audience a lot more.

I can’t access Viz Manga because I don’t live in a country where they use their services too. Curses! It sounds like a great app to have.

Click To Open Viz: Viz

16) Free Manga

free manga

Even in the app’s name it says it’s free. You may have trouble with finding it on the app store, so be sure to search online first. However, the number of manhwa series on this platform is phenomenal.

The downside of Free Manga is that it falls behind in its updates. I’m currently reading Into the Light Once Again, and it only has the first chapter on its website.

Be sure to keep that in mind.

Click To Open Freemanga: Freemanga

15) Spottoon

Spottoon

This platform seems to mostly have Korean work on here. Thus, this app falls more into the manhwa and webtoon category rather than the manga and other Japanese literature. So, because of that, I am placing it higher than my beloved Tachiyomi.

Although they aren’t clear about their subscriptions, they do have a free-read route, so that’s a plus!

Click To Open Spottoon: Spottoon

14) Manga Plus

Manga Plus

I want to be 100% transparent and clear with you. Even though some of these titles have the word Manga in it, it doesn’t mean that the app is not inclusive to manhwa. I’ve said this before and I’ll say this again as many times as I need to. Manga apps also have other works!

Although I believe this app and some of the others deserve to be ranked higher, I have to keep in mind their manhwa accessibility.

Manga Plus has a wide variety of series that range from manhwa to manhua to manga. It’s free, so even if you don’t trust me on the whole manhwa and manga thing, test it out.

Plus, I thought Manga Plus was illegal, but no! We can read manga and manhwa legally here, and there’s more! It releases its chapters at the same time as Japan does. Isn’t that pretty cool?

Click To Open Manga Plus: Manga Plus

13) INKR Comics

Inkr Comics

Do y’all remember MangaRock? I don’t know if I should be mentioning their name, but whatever. Anyway, that was an illegal website. They shut down in 2019, which devastated a good portion of the manga/manhwa/manhua community.

I’m not here to share my opinions on MangaRock and its rocky past. Did you catch my joke? No? Oh well. It was what it was. But it isn’t what it was now. Does that make sense?

MangaRock turned a full 180 degrees and became INKR Comics which is a platform that offers manhwa legally!

What a great turn around!

12) NetComics

net comics

Why Net Comics?

This holy grail of an app is a publisher of manhwas, webtoons, comics and manga. Its headquarters are in Los Angeles, California and it was founded in 2005.

If I had to say about the price range of NetComics, each chapter would on average be 0.25 and 0.45 cents in dollars. Depending on the series, you can get one to three chapters free before you decide to pay.

However, take my advice and read the manhwa reviews. I don’t want you to be spending your money all willy nilly.

Click To Download Net Comics: Net Comics

11) WeComics

wecomics

WeComics has a fairly high rating on the Google Play store which is a green flag. Some of those reviewers and critics are ruthless, man.

New series are frequently added to WeComics and the genre possibilities are endless. It also has a free reading route, which is what I love to hear.

You can buy coins and such to unlock certain chapters—not all.

10) Mangamo

Mangamo

I’m all for supporting the authors and artists, but I hardly make enough to support myself. Thank God, it’s just $4.99 a month, otherwise, I would’ve passed out on the spot. You know, I can get married for $499.

Mangamo is an app that’s ad-free, whoop whoop, however, it’s not available worldwide. You can’t access Mangamo if you’re in Korea, China, or Japan. How ironic that you can’t access Korean work in Korea. The world’s a weird place, fellas.

9) Izneo

izneo

I’m a forgetful person. If I don’t mark the page, I’m going to forget where I left off. There is no question that I have a brain as big as a goldfish. No offense to gold fishes.

But I don’t need to worry about that anymore when I use Izneo. This app has a feature that lets me start a manhwa (or any type of book) right where I ended on my previous read. Isn’t that convenient?!

I can read Webtoon, comics, you name it without stressing about the page numbers. Reading while being pressured is not enjoyable at all. It’s the worst.

If you find the price to be a bit wonky, it’s because it’s practically an all-you-can-eat buffet of books. The name is cute, which is a bonus in my books. A+ for creativity I suppose. Or am I too easy to please?

Click To Download Izneo: Izneo

8) Manytoon Comics

manytoon

The Manytoon App may not be available to you depending on your country of residence. I can’t access the app; however, the browser version of Manytoon Comics is available worldwide. There’s a lot of manhwa to choose from, but it’s more of a specific kind of manhwa.

7) Webcomics

webcomics

Guys, the 1080 HD is insane on this app. I’ve always been a quality over quantity kind of gal, but this is unfathomable!

The download speed is fast—and I don’t mean like quick fast. It’s more like an instant type of fast. The series are updated when they need to be, the comments are a hoot, and there is a diverse range of manhwa regarding genres.

Thirty dollars is a fantastic deal considering the service you get from this app. Not everyone can pay thirty bucks annually, but if you can, invest in this website.

Compared to some of these other apps, $30 isn’t as much as you think. When you have in-app purchases that use coins, you somehow convince yourself that because it’s only $2 for like ten coins, it’s not as much as paying $30 a year.

But if you keep thinking that, at the end of the year, you will find a $100 bill in your bank account in manhwa coins. It’s a dangerously smart marketing tactic.

6) Manga Toon

mangatoon

I’m sure you all know by now that Manga websites may also have manhwas available in their digital library. A resourceful feature Manga Toon has is a Completed Finished Manhwa page for when its readers don’t want to wait for the next chapter to be released.

I hate cliffhangers and sometimes websites and apps wrongly mark a manhwa as completed when it’s not. But you don’t have to worry about that in Manga Toon.

If that wasn’t enough to convince you to download this app, it also has a high rating on the Google Play Store. It’s a free app with genres ranging from Action, Romance, Fantasy, to Comedy. What are you waiting for?

5) Toomics

toomics

Toomics has a bold description on its Apple Apps page: it says it’s the best premium subscription for webtoon services—and dare I say, it’s not far from the truth.

The overall layout of Toomics is easy to use, and it has a tool which gives you daily updates on your favorite manhwas. The images on the apps are in HD, too.

You can sign up for a free trial on Toomics and receive Trial episodes.

Click To Download Toomics: Toomics

4) Tappytoon

tappytoons

The biggest series on Tappytoon is arguably the Solo Leveling Manhwa. If you’re a die-hard fan of Solo Leveling, this app is going to be your best friend. Tappytoon does have in-app purchases, however, it has a Time Till Free option.

The Time Till Free option is where you can read the next chapter of a certain series for free after 24 hours. You can read a manhwa that is labelled Time Till Free, and after 24 hours, the next chapter slot will be accessible to you only for a limited amount of time.

For the token purchases, you can buy 11 tokens for $1.99, but if you want to splurge, you can get 61 tokens for $9.99.

Click To Open Tappytoon: Tappytoon

3) Lezhin Comic

lehzin comics

Lehzin the app is all over Tik Tok, and I love to see it. It’s a great platform that supports authors and artists.

You can view some episodes for free on Lehzin, but if you truly want to get into the series, you have to buy coins to read the rest of the manhwa.

Lehzin has daily releases, and one of the simplest layouts I’ve ever seen. The manhwa there are fantastic. I kind of wish they didn’t have such an amazing selection since I’m slowly but gradually going broke because of them.

But hey, it’s to support my favorite titles, so I’m not mad about it.

2) Webtoon

webtoon

I can’t get enough of The Little Trashmaid on Webtoon. Webtoon is a great medium that supports artists that aren’t well known.

Its readers can read for free, but if you can’t wait for the next chapter, you can unlock the next releases by using Coins.

Right now, I’m reading Your Throne on Webtoon, and boy does this manhwa slap. There are 88 FREE chapters for Your Throne that anyone can now read! If you download the app, you can read the next 5 episodes.

Webtoons was specifically designed to read manhwas and webtoons on mobile phones, so the platform is literally catered towards your entertainment and comfort.

When you download Lehzin, which you should, show The Little Trashmaid some love. It’s a great Webtoon with an author that is actively working against ocean and sea pollution.

1) Tapas

tapas

I don’t have a subscription account on Tapas; however, I do use their current Tapas system. You can unlock new episodes by earning coins or ‘ink’ rather than buying them. To do this, you must watch ads through its app or on its PC browser.

The system also doesn’t distinguish between paid coins and earned coins, so either way, you’re supporting the artist.

Conclusion

Onsaemiro Manhwa

Aw! That’s it for our list in Top Manhwa Apps. This was a win-win for both you and me! For you, you get a bunch of great app options. For me, I learned about a few features on some of my favorite apps!

Before I end this blog with a tearful goodbye, I have to get you on the Tachiyomi bandwagon. Listen, don’t knock anything till you try it!

Like I said multiple times in its brief description, Tachiyomi is not an app per say. You have to download its application link on the website. Please, please check it out. I want the best for each and every one of you. Before I forget, you can also check out our best manga website list, if ever you wanted to read manga some other time!
