You might think it is weird watching a show where the protagonist can defeat his opponents by lifting just a finger, but in some cases that is the beauty of Isekai and when well done it has proven to translate into a pretty solid show. So right off the bat, we will be looking at 30 of these amazing anime that possess OP MCs you will certainly have watched some of them so get ready for this fun ride!

30. Stigma of The Wind
Kaze no Stigma is an absolute tragedy of a story. Our main character who goes by the name Kazuma Kannagi doesn’t start off the series being overpowered. In fact, at the age of 18, our boy here gets his ass beaten by his female 12-year-old second cousin when they duel for the Enraiha, which is the sword given to the family’s heir. Coming from a flame wielding family, Kazuma is inept in fire usage and he gets banished from the family. Long story short, 4 years later he returns with a new name as well as a new power – Wind Control. Our protagonist is now overpowered and no one can stand in his way.
29. In Another world with My Smartphone
In Another World With My Smartphone has a bit of comedy to it and the harem is pretty good too. Our protagonist here is not overpowered by brute strength, but his life is basically like playing a video game with a cheat code. So God accidentally kills this young boy and decides to make it up to him by bringing him back into another world. His physical and magical attributes are enhanced and he gets his previous smartphone back too. With the aid of features from his phone, Touya Mochizuki has the world at his fingertips. Don’t we all love our smartphones?
28. Seven Senses of The Re'Union
Moving on to one of those Isekai that involve an MMORPG game. The name of our Overpowered protagonist here is Haruto Amou. Even among the 6 great players in the group Subaru it is clear that Haruto is one of the best. He is so powerful that he can manipulate both offensive and defensive auras inside him. Even without using weapons, he still manages to win his battles. while this anime might get criticism for its shitty plot and pacing, no one denies the qualities of Haruto Amou.
27. Chivalry of A Failed Knight
Ikki Kurogane is seen as a good for nothing member of the elite Kurogane family. He was literally called ‘the worst one’ but over the course of this series, this character grows becoming stronger and stronger to a point that he is overpowered. Ikki was able to defeat Stella Vermillion who is one of the top A rank blasters, while Ikki lacks magical powers, he has undergone strenuous training, pushing his body past its limit and increasing his strength immensely. He is also a master swordsman. The romance in this anime is well done however the magic school and harem thing is overdone.
26. Dr. Stone
Okay, this is quite a popular one so I guess we have all seen it right? You might be wondering why is Ishigami Senku on this list? isn’t he a damn weakling? I agree he doesn’t possess the required physical strength but this guy has an overpowered brain he makes science look so easy, just imagine all the things he made in a post-apocalyptic world with little to no resources. Dr Stone is an amazing anime, with great supporting characters that impact the series beautifully. If you haven’t seen it then what are you waiting for?
25. Ixion Saga DT
The protagonist Kon Hokaze finds himself in a world full of mysterious energy known as Alma. In this new world, our main character saves princess Ecarlate. At this point, he doesn’t seem overpowered. He is just a regular guy. He, later on, joins the princesses’ honour guard to fight off the militant faction seeking to capture her. The character development in this show is amazing and it is one of the better Isekai anime out there. Watching Kon Hokaze grow into an overpowered main character amidst all the action is another level of fun you didn’t know you needed.
24. The Disastrous Life Of Siki K
From the name of this anime, you can tell that it has an element of comedy to it and yeah it IS funny. High school student Saiki Kusuo is born with psychokinesis and Teleportation powers making him obviously overpowered for the world he lives in watching this beloved character try to navigate his normal human life. Concealing his powers and finally making friends with his schoolmates is thrilling and exciting. It’s a must-watch anime!
23. Noragami
This is an action/supernatural anime with a female lead character. The protagonist Hiyori Iki is involved in an accident and in a strange twist of fate, her soul can now slip out of her body – weird right? That’s like living two separate lives. Anyways, this new development allows her to access the world where demons reside, and in regular anime fashion, homegirl makes friends with a God and a sword in the form of a human soul, or is it a human soul in the form of a sword? Anyway, you get the gist and as they say, the rest is history. This trio go on so many adventures together fighting against different entities. We are currently waiting for the third season. So, if you haven’t started this one, you’ve got some time to catch up.
22. Arifureta
Isekais like long names that kinda reveal the whole plot. Anyway, that’s not a problem at all. I will always prefer to know what I am watching than having no idea at all. The protagonist in this brilliantly animated isekai is none other than Hajime Nagumo. After being insulted, ridiculed and humiliated for his lack of powers, he gets betrayed by a classmate. To get out of this situation, he gets stronger, creating weapons to escape from the dungeon. Hajime Nagumo is insanely powerful, like, I mean the dude is massively overpowered and he doesn’t hold back when he sees his enemies, destroying them from organ to organ. In his journey, he meets some other interesting characters who add colour to the story.
21. Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks
Oh lord, what did I just say about isekai and long names…
Well, we are back to those fantasy-themed game world Isekai. The Protagonists here are the mother and son duo, Masato and Mamako. Mamako is an extremely doting mother and this always gets her in trouble with her son. After being sent into a game world, the mom gets the two most powerful sword In the game. What is Masato to do now as his ever doting mom is way more powerful than him, defeating all opponents easily with her twin swords?
20. Death March To The Parallel World Rhapsody
Another isekai that runs on a fantasy game world, and it still gives us the classic isekai harem trope. The protagonist in this series is a 29-year-old programmer named Ichiro Suzuki, who sleeps off while working and then wakes up in a parallel game universe. Suzuki unknowingly kills a God in the game, gaining other powers that make him immediately overpowered. Travelling around the game’s world and undertaking one adventure at a time while hiding his overpowered nature from other characters makes for a compelling anime series.
19. The Devil Is a part timer
Alright, imagine the devil living among men, that’s certainly overpowered, right? Well, that’s what happens in this anime. While trying to conquer a new land, the devil is intercepted by hero Emilia and he finds himself in Tokyo where this anime is set. Even though the devil Sadao Maou has lost a lot of his power being on earth, he can still teleport, regenerate and has mind control abilities. Oh, by the way, satan works in Mgronald. I don’t need to tell you but you know this is Mcdonald’s right? Anyway fate has other plans as the devil and hero Emilia’s lives intertwine again and we get to watch these characters unfold in a hilarious bubble of moral values. You need a good laugh then this one is obviously for you.
18. The Misfit of demon king academy
Honestly, this has been one of the best Isekai anime in recent years, featuring a theme of love and hope, it must be said that everything about this anime was brilliantly executed. The overpowered main character here is a character I love so much, Anos Voldigoad the demon king. after several years of battles between the demons and the human race, Anos Voldigoad returns to life as a baby. His growth is so fast that in a short while, he has grown and gotten into the academy. This character is so powerful that even with just a fraction of his strength, nothing and no one can stand in his way. Anos Voldigoad has defied death, he has defied time and space, you just name it. And have I talked about the way he brags, Nah, this man brags different. There has never been a more confident character than Anos Voldigoad.
17. problem children are coming from another world, aren't they?
Three little children embarking on a mission to overthrow evil demon lords spiced with action and a bucket full of comedy, I am sure you will love this amazing anime series!
These three kids possess superb psychic powers. However, Izayoi Sakamaki is the cream of the crop, touted as the strongest among our protagonists, his arrogance is a fitting match for his overwhelming powers. He has a secret power that renders the powers of his opponent useless and this character stay true to the Isekai male character. So if you wanna see the ‘sauce’ then watch this one.
16. Soul Land
This isekai is adapted from a Chinese light novel, and it is fully action-packed. If you love martial art or a bit of historical drama then you should jump on this. The main character is named Tang San and it won’t be wrong to say he is the strongest martial artist alive. Well, something happens and this man dies, then he is reborn in a new world but this time, he possesses the weakest of the combat spirits. However, this doesn’t stop our protagonist in any way as he accesses the memories from his previous life, becoming once again overpowered as he begins his journey to be the greatest spiritual master ever.
15. magical girl madoka magica
If you are an anime fan then you must have heard about this magical girl series with its sort of complicated plot. Our main character is the pretty Madoka Kaname. You can simply refer to her as the most powerful magical girl to exist in the entire series. Madoka does have to sacrifice herself in the end but she becomes an all-powerful being, one strong enough to become law and even alter reality, changing the fates of all magical girls for all eternity.
14. No Game No Life
A science-fiction isekai, set in a fantasy game world, the overpowered protagonist here is the 2 man group named Blank. It consists of two step-siblings – Sora and Shiro and I can assure you that you will love this smart duo. Let’s talk about what happens in this anime. Sora and Shiro defeat a God and they get sent into another world where they have to battle Gods and other species. You will be amazed at how our overpowered protagonists easily defeat these celestial beings that they are up against.
13. Marchen Awakens romance
This anime is just awesome! The protagonist here is physically weak, and cannot see without his glasses. The boy dreams about a fictional world every night until one day when his whole life changes. He is summoned to a world that looks exactly like his dreams but the most shocking part is that he is now overpowered, possessing superhuman physical strength and powerful magical weapons. There is enough mystery in this new world to keep you glued to your screen and while this fictional world might seem peaceful and free, our overpowered main character soon learns a harsh lesson that there are many who want him dead. Ginta goes up against the big bad Cheese piece, King Orb, in the war and he continues seeking a way back into his homeworld
12. The Irregular at magic high school
You will most likely know this anime as the Irregular at Magic High School, and yeah, it does follow the regular magical high school ways of Isekai. Just like the Misfit of Demon King Academy anime, this one also has a magic ranking system in the high school. The main characters in this anime are the siblings Tatsuya Shiba and Miyuki Shiba. While Miyuki is revered as a first-grade student due to her magical abilities, her brother lacks these magical attributes. However, Tatsuya is the overpowered main character in this series. He is quite smart, possessing knowledge of various things, he has superb combat abilities and his decomposition magic put him above other magic users. This anime is one of the more popular Isekai and it makes a great watch. It also has a sequel manga which will be getting an anime soon titled The honour Student at Magic High School.
11. How NOT to summon a demon lord
Isekais love for game worlds cannot be explained. In this anime, our main character is a gamer and as we have come to expect, he finds himself inside a mysterious world that turns out to be his favourite video game. Before I proceed, allow me to say how impressed I was by the harem in this anime, well designed with good enough personalities. Being an avid player of the game, our protagonist is well overpowered in the game and he turns out to be the demon lord Diablo. In a reversed situation he ends up with two slave girls, an elf and a panther. The overpowered diablo sets out, helping these girls on their missions and adventuring on ways to free them from their servitude. demon lord diablo is so overpowered and no one in the game world can stop him!
10. Wise Man's Grandchild
This brilliant fantasy isekai is animated by the fantastic Silver Link Studio and they did well to include an overpowered protagonist. So, if you haven’t seen this one then hurry up and watch it!
The overpowered main character is Shin Wolford and he is the titular grandchild of the most powerful magician in the universe, Merlin Wolford. Let’s go back a bit to shin’s former life. He was a young man who suddenly died and was reincarnated in a new magical world now reborn in this new world. He swiftly learns all the teachings of his grandpa and overpowered becomes an understatement. Shin’s knowledge of science from his previous world serves him well in his magical journey as he sets to revolutionize magical tools. he is also capable of performing magical spells without words.
9. Log Horizon
Another isekai in a game world, the story here is quite compelling. An update for an online game traps thousands of players in the virtual game world and everyone has to continue as their game avatar. Our Protagonist is Shiroe. He is not overpowered at the start of the series but as he journeys with his friends Naotsugu and Akatsuki to overcome the challenges in this fictional world. He gets well needed upgrades and soon becomes overpowered. This anime does well in its world-building, feeling like an actual game and if you’re a gamer and you’ve got some free time then give it a watch!
8. The Saga of Tanya The Evil
Popularly known as the Saga of Tanya the Evil, this entire anime happens because a man doesn’t believe in God. In Tanya’s former life, he is killed by an employee, God appears, questioning him for his lack of faith and they have an argument. It goes on and on till the man is reincarnated in the body of a young girl – a Loli, great stuff right? Tanya is reincarnated as a 13-year-old girl in the middle of a war and she takes this challenge quite seriously, honing her skills and working up rank after rank till she becomes a ruthless beast that will crush all her enemies without hesitation……. Why won’t you love a ruthless Loli?
7.Sword Art Online
Sword Art Online is famed for changing the game for the Isekai genre. It had a revolutionary impact, bringing more viewers to the genre, and in its own rights, it is a great show. I’m not going to talk much about this as you probably already know about it, anyways our overpowered protagonist is Kazuto Kirito Kirigaya and he is the best player in the video game where about ten thousand people are trapped inside. Oh yes, he does defeat the boss, freeing everyone!
6. Sage Machine Master Story In The Different World
A mysterious group kidnaps a young boy from the earth, taking him to a new world, Geminar. In this new world, he is tasked with assassinating the empress, however, the empress takes an interest in our protagonist and he is captured. Males are rare in Germinar, the empress takes him to a sacred place where mechanoid pilots train and as he aids her in her wars. Kenshi Masaki gets stronger becoming so overpowered that he could kick a metal cannon 45 degrees upwards.
5. Gate
The 2015 isekai anime adapted from a light novel deals on really serious themes. A portal opens up in modern japan and warriors come out of it, rampaging the city of Tokyo. After the warriors are repelled, Yoji Itami is sent to investigate the world at the other end of the portal. This science-fiction is filled with suspense and a plot wide enough to manage sinister motives from other nations who are jealous of japan. Yoji Itami is an overpowered character and he gets to save not just japan but the entire world.
4. Cautious Hero
A long name isekai is always fun and what can be better than an overpowered character, other than one who is overpowered and also cautious. The main character is named Seiya Ryuguin and this guy is massively overpowered but then, he is very cautious and does not like engaging in battles nevertheless not even the demon lord can stop this overpowered human hero.
3. the rising of the shield hero
Honestly, I wouldn’t believe you if you said you have never heard about this anime. One of my favourite anime memes is that one about ‘something is rising and it’s not the shield hero’. The story follows Naofumi Iwatani who is transported into a parallel world to fight monsters. Being the weakest of the heroes does not break Naofumi’s resolve as he trains to become stronger and with the aid of a tanuki, and a bird-like monster, his strength becomes unrivalled and the shield hero will solve all the mysteries in his world.
2. Overlord
Overlord is a dark fantasy isekai featuring the overpowered protagonist Ainz Ooal Gown who was a veteran player of the game. Now trapped in the game world without human emotions, Ainz Ooal Gown’s powers are limitless and he is capable of beating anyone!
He can defeat his opponents without even lifting a finger, watching this overpowered main character explore this game world, solving mysteries and searching for answers is more fun than you would have thought.
1. The Time I Got reincarnated as a slime
That time I got reincarnated as slime is arguably one of the most popular isekai anime series in the world! Yeah, I get it, slimes are supposed to be weak but this one is super strong!
You might be thinking what fun is there in watching an overpowered slime but this anime is awesome. It is thrilling and exciting. The overpowered main character in this show is Satoru Mikami who is murdered during an encounter with a colleague he is then reincarnated as a slime in a new world, acquiring an ability known as predator that allows him to absorb skills after devouring things. He becomes allies with a dragon who renames him Rimuru Tempest. Our overpowered protagonist has to defend himself and his allies from monsters and demons who want to destroy them.
Conclusion
Isekais and Overpowered main characters mostly go hand in hand. Some of them even have to train like crazy to be overpowered enough to kick some ass.
