How Did Makima Survive after Being Eaten by Denji?

Updated December 16, 2022 by Ernie

After realizing Makima was following his scent to locate him, he gouged out his own heart and kept his body running by using the blood he received from Powers (Chainsaw Man Manga: Chapter 91).

His main body became the perfect bait keeping Makima distracted while he was pulling off the most badass sneak attack of the century!

After killing who she thought was Chainsaw Man, Makima let her guard down, giving Denji the perfect chance to rip her body apart without even using his power but a regular, punny chainsaw (Chainsaw Man Manga: Chapter 96). What a disgrace for the OP villain!!

Makima Chainsaw Man

He ate the love of his life, didn’t leave a single bone behind, and…. when I say it like that it’s actually super dark (Chainsaw Man Manga: Chapter 96).

WHAT HAPPENED TO MAKIMA

With the Control Devil now erased from existence, the Earth is certain to see better days. But of course, Denji had to screw up somewhere because the Control devil is back and kicking.

How do we know it’s her? Cuz we have rock solid proof… Nayuta bit Denji, similar to how Makima did it. How can we doubt her identity now, right? (Chainsaw Man Manga: Chapter 97)

Denji and Makima

So, knowing that the Chainsaw Man‘s special power is to completely erase the existence of any devil after eating it, just how the hell did the Control Devil reincarnate?

Let’s start by finding out how the baka managed to screw up that very simple task…eating… You had one job to do man, unbelievable. But wait a sec, I kinda also have another question. Why did the calamity reincarnate on Earth exactly? Let’s check this out to shall we?

But, if you wanna know, you’re going to have to enter into a contract with me first, the Manga Devil. Keep on reading!!!

Nayuta, the Control Devil

Denji completely consumed Makima, he didn’t take pity on her, and Chainsaw Man didn’t lose his power, nor did his love for Makima mess up his ability. The Control Devil, as strong as she was, can’t negate erasure as well. And yet Nayuta was born and no one forgot Makima.

You actually don’t need to look too far to get your answer, most of the time the simplest possibility is the most plausible one. Denji didn’t follow the usual process.

Every time Chainsaw Man decided to erase a devil, he would defeat him and eat him on the spot. He never conserved his flesh and used it as a cooking ingredient simply because his soul would have time to reincarnate.Denji took his sweet time and messed up the process.
By the time Denji finished his Makima dishes, the Control Devil had already been reincarnated as Nayuta.

Second Mystery, Why didn’t Nayuta reincarnate in hell? But there is still something fishy here, how did Nayuta appear on Earth? Why didn’t Nayuta reincarnate in hell? Didn’t Angel say in chapter 53 that when a devil that was born on Earth dies his soul would be reborn in hell while any devil born in hell would reincarnate on Earth? He did say that (Chainsaw Man Manga: Chapter 53).

Our Theory

Nayuta and MAkima

The only explanation for this strange phenomenon is that Makima was actually born in hell and the devious devil that she is found a way to travel between universes and found herself on Earth.

I mean that theory isn’t so far-fetched since we saw more than one demon do it in the manga. The first one was the Hell Devil who can drop people in and out of hell as he pleases (Chainsaw Man Manga: Chapter 83)

And the second was the Chainsaw Devil who obliterated the barrier separating our world using only his raw strength and unbreakable will… but that was only because a cute girl was involved (Chainsaw Man Manga: Chapter 84). Makima would’ve saved us a huge load of trouble if she had just stayed where she was meant to be.

Conclusion

The most important thing that you have to learn from THIS is that Denji can think! As shocking as it is. And do not play with food before eating it, it will come back to bite you…literally.

And the great news is that I’m sure there is still some grand plan in store for Makima. I mean, we didn’t get enough of her yet. She might have been evil but she was the coolest character of the series after all.

So what do you think the author has in store for her? Will she go back to being the biggest threat the Earth ever faced or the greatest ally of humankind?)
