Hinata is one of the important characters in the Naruto franchise. The girl started as a bashful and shy character who served as a love interest for Naruto. It was one-sided throughout the series until finally, she won Naruto’s heart and they eventually got married.
Although she’s a sweet and loving girl. There’s a lot of Naruto fans who clowns Boruto and puts their frustration towards Hinata. Because if it weren’t for her, then Boruto wouldn’t exist. A lot of toxicity in fandoms, especially belittling the roles of mothers.
Before we start, we have to address these issues first. Hinata is a good character, there’s hope for Boruto to be good, and we shouldn’t look down on her character because she ended up being a housewife! Success is subjective after all!
With that being said, let’s tune in and answer an important question.

Is Hinata Hyugga dead?
Naruto is one of the best anime in terms of storytelling (if we disregard the filler of course). It brings so many emotions, and has a lot of impact to the lives of many viewers. I myself is an example. I grew up watching the show and it inspires me to go no matter how challenges could be. It motivates me to believe in myself, and gives me hope that I too could achieve my dreams.
Hinata wasn’t an impactful character to begin with, especially before Shippuden was aired. She was introduced as Hinata Hyuga, a former heiress of their clan. She belongs to Team 8, alongside Shino and Kiba with the guidance of Asuma.
She was weak and frail despite belonging to the main family of Hyuga. She was introduced as a soft-spoken character, and quite polite. She is always seen to address people with the right honorifics.
She is kind and selfless. Despite being weak, she trains so hard in order to live up to the expectations of her father. She values and loves her family so much that even if she got disinherited, she agreed to marry Toneri for the sake of rescuing her little sister.
Quite bold and selfless to give your own love for the sake of the family who stripped your inheritance and treated you harshly when you were a young. Which is why some fans are annoyed with her.
This brings forth a little fan fiction that presents the death of Hinata; however this isn’t canon. There’s also a lot of false information on Quora and Reddit, but Kishomoto doesn’t confirm it, so this is mostly likely to be false.
Because even though there are instances that could have killed Hinata, she is still alive and one of the main reasons why we got the sequel of Boruto!
The answer isn’t a mystery to begin with. Hinata plays an important role in Naruto’s life, her impact seems underrated but she helps Naruto win battles that no ninja and friend around him could ever take the role.
She stood by Naruto’s side in the war, and helped Naruto gain his faith after having doubts. She is the first character who uses Naruto’s iconic line. “This is my ninja way.” Which is why I would like to give a round of applause to Kishimoto for making a slow and steady character that will serve as a pillar to the main character in the times of darkness.
Hinata is still alive, currently in the manga and the anime of Boruto. She plays the role of a mother of two and wife of the 7th Hokage! She is a sweet and supportive mother, but you won’t like it when she’s angry!
What makes people think that Hinata’s Dead
But why do people ask this question? Hinata’s alive and isn’t that quite obvious?
Well, there are a lot of instances that could have killed Hinata. There’s also clips that might have been taken out of context. Especially in the Pain arc! Which is why if you haven’t kept up with the story of Naruto and onwards to Boruto, then this question is normal.
As I’ve said earlier there was also fan fiction, mostly Sakura and Naruto shippers who wanted Hinata dead. But do not be confused.
To clarify it, Hinata is healthy and alive! You don’t have to worry; she is safe and living the dream that she always wanted.

Instances that almost killed Hinata
I haven’t heard anyone say this before, but Hinata has her own plothole! Now that we have the Boruto series, it all makes sense! Masashi Kishimoto couldn’t kill her despite many instances that could have led to her demise.
She was an important member in the family and therefore carrying the name puts a target on her back, she is gentle and a bit weak. But she is a brave and loyal character who will fight for the sake of the people she loves, even if it means sacrificing her own life.
One of the first examples of Hinata clutching death happens when she was three years old, or known in the Manga as Hyugaa’s affair (Naruto Ch. 102), there was an attempt to kidnap her in order to obtain the power of Byakugan. However, she was saved by her father. If the attempt was successful, Hinata would lose her eyes or worse her pair of eyes.
This would also change the course of the story, both in Naruto’s life and Konoha’s future!
There’s also a rivalry between Hinata and Neji when they were young. With Neji being the child prodigy and Hinata a child the blood of the main family who fails to live up to their expectations. They fought in the chunin exams which almost led to her death.
She was close to withdrawing from the battle, but Naruto’s encouragement inspired her to keep fighting and hold onto her determination. Sadly, she still lost the fight leading to perilous injuries, due to the fact that her organs were severely damaged.
Another instance that could have killed Hinata was Episode 168 when Hinata boldly fought Pain, a man who almost successfully destroyed Konoha. She faces Pain in order to save Naruto, leading to a tragic scene of her being pinned down, and unconscious. This led to Naruto assuming that she was dead.
But thanks to Sakura, she was healed. There were people who died during the Pain arc and were resurrected but Hinata was simply unconscious and was treated by Sakura.

Will Hinata die in the future?
Death is inescapable, each of us will face it eventually! However, many fans speculate Hinata’s death will lead to a crucial development in the story of Boruto. I mean, wouldn’t it make the story more interesting?
In the first scene of the anime, we caught a glimpse of the future, which is all but destruction and death as Boruto the main character faces his sworn brother, Kawaki.
There’s a lot of speculation regarding the death of important characters, mainly Naruto because of his absence in the scene. But some fans believe that it might be Hinata. But at the moment we can’t really tell what might happen.
However, the death of Hinata could serve as a catalyst in the character development of our main character, Boruto Uzamaki! But here’s what I think though; What if the Pain arc gets recreated in the Boruto series, where Hinata will sacrifice herself once again, but this time for the sake of her son! But this time, the selfless mother will meet her end.
Imagine how devastating it can be? Especially in the Uzumaki family, we might be seeing Boruto turning rouge if this were to happen or Naruto recalling the past where Hinata tries to save him.
It’s a beautiful yet tragic ending! But wouldn’t that be an amazing story to tell?
But at the moment, all we can do is wait for the climax to happen. Will there be a 5th Ninja War? Will Naruto die? Or will Boruto become the antagonist of the story? All of this speculation gives me excitement!
I can’t wait to see what lies in the future of Boruto!
