Can Naruto Use Byakugan? | BORUTO

Kekai Genkai is an anomaly in a Ninja’s DNA that allows unique techniques to be passed down through one generation to another. 

But this begs the question. Can Naruto use the Byakugan?

You might be thinking, maybe Naruto can, given that nothing seems impossible to this dude? After all, the rules of kekai genkai are useless as we progress in the future of Boruto! Ninja science? Technology? Now what does this mean to the future of Jutsu?

Think about it? The series of Naruto and its sequel focuses on innovation, and technology progresses in the show as time passes by. From the time, where it was just  one special jutsu for each ninja, to a kid like Boruto who can now use different elements. We have reached the point where the sky is no longer the limit. From sword and kunai fighting, to light-saber and time travel!

Therefore, you couldn’t help but to wonder: WHAT ARE THE LIMITS OF THE BORUTO UNIVERSE? CAN NARUTO USE BYAKUGAN? WILL WE EVER SEE IT IN BORUTO? And what does it tell about the future of the Boruto series? Stay tuned to find out!

LET’S FIND OUT IF NARUTO CAN USE THE BYAKUGAN

What Is A Byakugan?

To answer the question, we must first understand the nature of Byakugan, what is Byakugan?
The Byakugan is a kekkei genkai dōjutsu that originated from the Ōtsutsuki clan, but is more easily notable to the Hyuga family especially after the Otsutsuki clan left earth. The word Byakugan is translated as White Eye, which also means All Seeing White Eye. Byakugan’s abilities are focused on the vision of the user.

Anyone who has the Byakugan is granted the ability to see 360° fields of vision all around them. It is comparable to having Superman’s eyes because it has the power to see through any obstructions and may act as a built-in X-Ray to analyze the inside of the body. The chakra and chakra pathway system can therefore be checked for battle purposes, for example. Furthermore, compared to the Sharingan, the Byakugan has greater vision for viewing chakra. As a result, users can tell some clones apart from the original.

This proves that Byakugan is a unique ability that is useful in tactical warfare; by gathering intelligence and assessing your opponent’s strength, one can outmaneuver an adversary when they possess a Byakugan.

Can Naruto Use Byakugan

But can anyone use Byakugan? Can I use byakugan?

Byakugan is a kekkei genkai dōjutsu.

Kekkei Genkai is translated as BloodLine Limit. It is referred to as an anomaly in the DNA that enables users to employ a special approach. To put it another way, Kekkei Genkai is a genetic trait. The Bloodline of Byakugan is held by the Hyugga clan, which you would already be aware of if you watched the anime. Byakugan is passed down from one generation to the next.

Does this imply that Naruto is not capable of using the Byakugan since it is passed down from generation to generation? .

Weeeeell, actually he can! And it is possible.

Although I stressed that it is Kekkei Genkai, I never focused on Dojutsu, which literally translates to “Eye Techniques” and refers to skills that may be performed with your eyes.  Additionally, the ability to be transplanted distinguishes it from other Kekkei Genkai.In fact, we’ve already encountered several of these characters in the anime, such as Kakashi, who acquired Obito’s half-sharingan, Danzo, the sharingan collector, and Ao, who possesses a byakugan despite not being a member of the Hyuugan clan.

Which goes to say that Naruto can use the Byakugan!

 But will he?

Well, to tell you the truth……………………. No, he hasn’t used it, why would he?

Nah I’m just kidding. Actually, the answer is Yes! But not in a way you would expect it to be.

I’ve already mentioned how Dojutsu can be applied through transplants. Naruto, however, was an exception. In the short-lived Naruto Retsuden light novel, Naruto briefly possessed the powers of byakugan.

The Naruto Retsuden narrative takes place in the Boruto Era and centers on Naruto’s health issues. When he utilized the Shadow Clone jutsu, he first felt agony in his chest, then heart palpitations, followed by a blackout. He was cautioned not to use his chakra by Kurama. Naruto is concerned about telling his wife since he doesn’t want her to worry even if the problem has already gotten worse.

Funny enough he met Orichimaru when he returned home and Orichimaru being Orichimaru, already knows Naruto’s current state. He offers to test out his newly created Spectacles that can mimic the dojutsu, Byakugan. He offered Naruto a pair of glasses that can be activated  by flipping a switch. In his initial attempt, he did succeed in gaining byakugan powers, but because he was overwhelmed by the glass, he had to turn it off. To get adjusted to the vision, Naruto practices wearing the glasses. while keeping his health condition a secret from his family.

Yes! Naruto was able to use Byakugan for a short period of time! He still has to adjust from it, which poses difficulties while using it due to his current health status as well as the toll of using Kekkei Genkai from someone who doesn’t have the blood line. But will we ever see this chapter adapted in Boruto?

Well, I don’t think so. Since the light novel is well beyond the current timeframe of Boruto. Additionally, unlike in the series, Kurama is still alive in the light novel. In contrast to Boruto, where they feel unimpressive, it would be wonderful to see an anime adaptation or movie that focuses on Naruto and Sasuke for the Retsuden Light novel. It ought to do the original Naruto fans justice .

But given that technology and innovation are present in the current anime, I do believe that we will still be able to see this Orichimaru invention in the Boruto series. If it occurs, does it not feel a little contentious?  Seeing how he made it easier to access the Byakugan, or even the Sharingan without having the bloodline. But at least better than the old days, where blood had to be shed just to pluck out an eye of an Uchiha!

The Future Of Boruto

I stand by my assertion that kekai genkai will no longer be useful in the future. The days when people had to guard or preserve their (insert whatever they needed to guard or preserve) are long gone. The growth depicted in the future episodes of Boruto means that characters like Orichimaru have a significant impact on the development of a technologically advanced society.

In my opinion, Boruto will continue to advance in terms of technological advancement, and the threat of a new war is still quite real. similar to how certain nations in our own world are merely waiting for one another to act. As a result, we’ll see more cutting-edge weapons in the future. Who is to say where the line is? Giant Robot might appear in the Boruto series!
