Fate is one of the most popular anime out there. Animated by the famous Ufotable, it has mesmerizing animation. You know there are some anime that are adapted from games, right? Well! Fate is one of them. 

Its watch order is confusing as hell. However, there are articles out there where you find the proper watch order. Let’s discuss the plot of this show. Like the watch order, its plot is also confusing. It basically revolves around a Holy Grail that can fulfill any wish. In order to gain this Holy grail, a war takes place every few years known as the Holy Grail War.

7 masters and their servants participate in this war. These servants are basically historical figures such as Gilgamesh, King Arthur, and Alexander the great in spirit form. There are a total of 7 warrior classes including Saber, Archer, Lancer, Berserker, Assassin, Caster, and Rider. These historical figures belong to one of these classes according to their affinity.

Shirou Emiya

Shirou Emiya is the protagonist of Fate/Stay Night. As you can see from the name, he is also the adoptive son of Kiritsugu Emiya. Shirou was the one who accidentally summoned Saber during the 5th Holy Grail War. 

Shirou’s parents were killed during the 4th Holy Grail war. After that, Kirtisugu adopted him and taught him basic magic. Shirou has an unparalleled sense of justice. He had a traumatic past. He considers it his duty to help others and without any compensation. Why? He wants to prove to himself that he is worthy of living.

Even during the war, he was trying to save Saber. He just cannot see someone else getting hurt for his sake. He also has an absurd dream and that is to save everyone in this world.

Kiritsugu Emiya

Kiritsugu Emiya is the foster father of Shirou Emiya. Before Shirou, Saber served Kiritsugu, during the 4th Holy Grail War. He was able to summon Saber at her full power. 

He is also the MC in Fate/Zero. He also has a cool nickname, “The Magus Killer”. Kiritsugu is literally emotionless. He wasn’t like this from the beginning. His persona took a 180-degree turn when he discovered that his father was the cause of the death of his first love and a whole island. 

After that, he decided to kill Magus to avoid such incidents in the future. He is a ruthless and merciless killer. His intentions are not evil, so people like to call him an anti-hero. He can do anything to achieve his goal. 

When he was young, he wanted to become a hero of justice. Now you all know from where Shirou got his inspiration. You can become cold and ruthless at times and you don’t care what people say.

King Arthur AKA Saber

Saber is probably the most popular character in the entire fate series. Her real name is Artoria Pendragon. She belongs to the class of Saber and is one of the strongest servants. 

Kiritsugu Emiya was her master during the Fourth Holy Grail War and after that, she served under Shirou Emiya. She has also served as a servant of Norma Goodfellow and Ristsuka Fujimura in other parts of the Fate series.

Saber is what you can call a true KNIGHT!! She has morals that she must always follow. She is against using underhanded tricks. She believes in fighting head to head. She is also extremely loyal to her master and can do anything to protect him. However, if her master orders her to use underhanded tricks, she chooses to not follow the order.

Rin Tohsaka

Rin Tohsaka is one of the supporting characters. She is one of the most popular characters in the entire series. She is the master of Archer during the 5th Holy Grail War. 

Let’s just talk about her persona. Rin appears as an extremely noble girl. In school, she is considered a model student. The way she talks and behaves is pretty dignified and might seem a bit arrogant.

In life outside school as well, she seems a bit arrogant and overconfident. However, in reality, she is a really sweet girl who cares a lot about the people around her. Because of her personality, it gets a little difficult for her to express these feelings. She is also extremely competent. 

If your persona matched with Rin, then you are probably a very noble and dignified individual. You might seem arrogant to most people but deep inside you are really sweet and caring. Also, you hate LOSING!!

Emiya AKA Archer

Emiya is a supporting character featuring in multiple parts of the Fate series. No no no! I am not talking about Emiya Shirou, I am talking about EMIYA AKA Archer. He served as the servant of Rin Tohsaka during the 5th Holy Grail War. 

Let’s talk about his persona. Archer’s personality is a bit difficult to explain. He has contradicting beliefs. He can become really ruthless, and at the same, he can be really nice and caring. He dislikes Shirou’s idea of becoming a hero of justice, even though he wanted to become one when he was alive. 

He had a tough life. Many people betrayed him. But, he decided not to hate them or hold any grudge. He can get a bit too childish at times. He doesn’t trust people easily. 

If your quiz matches with Archer, then you probably have a contradicting persona. You have a hard time understanding what you really want. You can be extremely protective and caring at times or become absolutely ruthless at others. Your behavior might seem a bit childish to people.

Gilgamesh

Gilgamesh is one of the most popular characters in the franchise. He is regarded as the strongest servant/character. He served as the servant of Tokiomi Tohsaka in the 4th Holy Grail War and the servant of Kirie Kotomine during the 5th Holy Grail War. He belongs to the Archer class. 

Being a king, Gilgamesh is extremely arrogant and strong. He had everything he wished for from the beginning. He always placed himself before anyone else. He seemed to believe that he is the sole owner of everything. 

He had no sense of morality. He used underhanded tricks to get rid of those who stand in his way. It doesn’t make sense that he is a servant, right? I mean, how can a king this arrogant follow someone’s orders? Well! He didn’t! He is well-known for killing his own masters. He wants to keep the Grail for himself so that he can get revived. 

If your quiz result was Gilgamesh, then that’s not good at all. You are probably planning to take over this world, lol! Just kidding. It means that you are extremely arrogant and self-obsessed. You have a sense of superiority that can sometimes make you vulnerable. 

Kirei Kotomine

Kirei Kotomine is the antagonist of Fate/Stay Night. He is also one of the protagonists in Fate/Zero. He served as the master of Assassin in the 4th Holy Grail War. After that, he managed to formulate a contract with Gilgamesh and Lancer during the 5th War. 

He was also the overseer during the 5th Holy Grail War. He had his own personal goal in all of this. Kirie’s personality is quite twisted. He can act like a normal human. However, the thing here is that he doesn’t feel happy in doing so. 

Despite his crazy achievements, he isn’t satisfied. He wants to achieve more. You can say that he found his happiness in hurting others. He cannot be called a true villain. He used to believe that Kirtsugu was like him, however, he was completely wrong. Shirou can be considered the exact opposite of Kirei.

If your persona matched with him, you probably have a twisted persona. By twisted, I don’t mean that you are evil or something, it’s just that you have a hard time finding happiness. You don’t get satisfied despite all your achievements.
