The nostalgia we feel after hearing the name “Death Note” is unmatched. We get reminded of the good old days when we didn’t have to worry about anything. This anime is unmatched due to its popularity, characters, and its fandom from all around the world. I have to say if you have never watched Death Note, you have missed out on a lot! Literally! 

 When we watch an anime, we claim to be a particular character. For instance, we all claimed to be L or Misa Amane, right? So, we’ve prepared a quick quiz on Death Note for you guys! Let’s see whether your childhood assumptions were correct or not.

L Lawliet 

L is one of the main characters of Death Note. He’s known to be one of the best detectives in the whole world who takes on challenging situations to catch criminals. He’s the type of guy who’d keep secrets from everyone and wouldn’t trust anyone either. L prefers to work alone and go into a state of deep thinking where he can rely on himself and sort everything out. 

If you got L, it means you like to keep things to yourself and won’t open up to others easily either. You also like to handle situations through logic. L is the type of person who’d analyze a situation thoroughly before taking any action. That’s how he’s able to deceive his opponents really easily. It’s possible that if you got L, you tend to overthink too since you keep most of the things to yourself.

L is a pale, tall, and lean young man who has long jet-black hair. One of his most noticeable features of L includes the shadows under her eyes. I bet these shadows are the cause of him staying up all night and continuously thinking. Anyways, you must really like sweets if you got L on your quiz, because he’s just THAT crazy for it!

Light Yagami 

Light Yagami is also one of our main characters who got the “Death Note” and sort of summoned the Shinigami known as Ryuk. After getting the Death Note, he changed– for the worse. Our boy basically hated politics and corruption. So, he decided why not just kill the people he hated? Thus, the number of killings across Japan increased very clearly. That’s when L noticed that there was something wrong, and wondered how the criminal didn’t leave any evidence behind. 

If you got Light Yagami on the quiz, you’re hardworking and a natural genius. You’re most likely to be your parents’ favorite child too. Since Light is good at solving problems, you probably go all-in to look for solutions to different problems. 

Light believes that the world is rotten and has a very strong sense of justice. He often ends up using his Death Note to get rid of evil people. His sole goal is to make this world different by getting rid of all the evil people and bringing peace and justice. Little did he know killing people itself is considered very evil. Before he got the notebook, he was compassionate. 

He lost his memories for some time since he lost the notebook, at that time, he was very soft-hearted too. So, It’s probably the Death Note making him evil.  

Misa Amane 

Misa Amane is a model and an actress. She supports Light Yagami and his killings. Misa ends up becoming a Kira (killer) like Light as well and gets her own Shinigami too. She was thankful to Kira for killing the person who killed her family. The story of Death Note is darker than you think. OOF! 

Misa is truly one of the most beautiful characters in Death Note. People from all around the world tried cosplaying her and that’s how popular she is! 

Anyways, if you got Misa, you surely like attention and are beautiful. You’re popular at your school, college, and everywhere. You tend to be clumsy at times too. Since she’s an actress, she gets noticed by a lot of people that pass her by. Like Misa, you don’t put your all into what you do that’s why people call you careless at times too. 

Misa is nice to everyone she meets but she doesn’t like people who take advantage of her kindness. Ever since she became the second Kira, she started manipulating people which eventually led her to get arrested. Since she saw her parents getting murdered right before her eyes, her mental state has been affected a lot. She loves receiving love from others and gets comforted by that. 

Near 

Near once quoted, “Nobody can tell me what is right and what is wrong, what is righteous and what is evil. Even if there’s a god, and I had his teachings before me, I would think it through, and decide if that was right or wrong myself.” That is the type of care and thought he puts into his actions. That’s how genius Near is. So, don’t mess with this boy. 

Well, who is Near? Near is one of L’s successors who was raised in Wammy’s house – Watari’s orphanage for gifted kids. Yes, you heard that right, Near is gifted. He’s naturally smart. 

If you get Near, you’re very careful before taking any action and only believe in yourself. You tend to keep your head up in every type of situation. You’re very observant that it seems like you can predict the future too. You don’t like to interact with others that much since you don’t have much social knowledge like Near. In any type of situation, you like staying calm and stable. 

Ryuk 

Ryuk is Light Yagami’s Shinigami. He came back to the normal world after getting bored of the Shinigami’s realm. In order to entertain himself and to see “some drama,” he dropped one of the Death Notes into the world of humans. That’s where all the trouble began. Thus, this Death Note was found by Light Yagami who hated injustice. Therefore, he decided to use this notebook to create a world filled with justice. 

Like Ryuk, you love creating drama. You tend to add fuel to the fire and yes, you love eating apples too. Correct me if I’m wrong! The thing that Ryuk really found interesting in the human world was their apples. He said that the apples in the Shinigami world taste just like sand. He even made Misa try those apples out. You also love playing video games.

Unlike other Shinigamis, Ryuk doesn’t simply want the time to pass but he wants some drama. Little did he know that his “little drama” will create a catastrophe in the human world and endanger the lives of so many people. Nonetheless, after creating so many troubles, he sticks with Light. 

This character is also one of the most popular characters among old otakus. Maybe new otakus are also aware of this character. Who knows? 

Rem 

Rem is also one of the Shinigamis, she’s with Misa Amane. Unlike Ryuk, she possesses two Death Notes. She didn’t get the other Note as trickery. A Shinigami fell deeply in love with Misa and sacrificed himself for her. Thus, she ended up with his Death Note. That’s how Rem passed his Death Note to Misa. 

Even though Ryuk and Rem both are Shinigamis, they are so different from each other. Rem hates humans. If you got Rem on the quiz, you’re not afraid of expressing yourself and are quite straightforward too. 

Being opposite to Ryuk doesn’t make Rem any less guilty for not performing the activities of a proper Shinigami. Rem is even ready to give up on her own life for Misa’s sake. She’s truly supportive of Misa and makes sure she’s safe wherever she is. We can say that she’s much more responsible than Ryuk. 

It’s so true how scary these Shinigamis are. If you look at their cosplays, you’re gonna freak out 110% sure! I remember when I was a child and I watched Death Note, I freaked out real bad and these Shinigamis came in my dreams and scared the hell out of me. 

Soichiro Yagami 

As you can tell from his name, he’s Light’s father and he’s the Chief of the NPA. He also works for the police who lead the Japanese Task Force. 

If you got Soichiro Yagami, you’re warm-hearted and kind to everyone. You care a lot about your dear ones, especially your own family. For their happiness, you’re ready to do anything! Since Soichiro Yagami works for the Police, he has a very strong sense of justice and duty. He’s mature and responsible. 

Even though he spent very little time with his family yet it doesn’t change the fact that he valued his family big time.  His motto says “Justice first, the family later.” Well, that shows how good of a cop he is. Due to the brilliant investigations of L, it was proved that Light was behind the killings. That’s where life hit Soichiro and he begged L to prove that his son didn’t do such a thing. I’m in tears! 

Let’s see how his morale remains when he has to let go of his son and lose him due to the mass murder he committed. To find out what happened next, watch Death Note. 

Sachiko Yagami 

Sachiko is Soichiro’s wife and the mother of Light Yagami who truly thinks highly of her son since he’s smart. She has no idea when and how his son got the Death Note and the horrifying Shinigami lingering around her house. 

Like most mothers, Sachiko is sweet and caring. If you got Sachiko on the quiz, you’re motherly and care genuinely about others. Sachiko makes sure that she’s there for everyone. For instance, when her husband was hospitalized due to stress and had a heart attack, she stood by him. 

Sachiko understands the stress his husband goes through because of all the Kira Killings. That’s why she cheers him up even more! In fact, she’s very proud of her son’s academic success. Sachiko is a very warm-hearted and forgiving individual. We all deserve a mother like Sachiko. 

Mello 

Mello is one of L’s successors who was also raised at Wammy’s House in Winchester, England. Mello refuses to work together with Near to find Kira since both of them are very different. 

Mello is surely smarter than most people and if you got Mello on the quiz, you don’t give up easily when it comes to achieving your goals. For instance, Mello was determined to catch Kira all by himself without the help of Near. His strong will is worth-appreciating and is obsessed with catching Kira to an unhealthy level. 

He might have an inferiority complex because of Near since he’s a highly smart individual and a natural genius. Thus, if both of them work together, they will catch Kira in no time.

CONCLUSION

Death Note is one of the best and most legendary anime of all time. With its plot, plot twists, and characters, it made our childhood amazing. If you have never watched Death Note, I suggest you guys watch it ASAP! It’s just so interesting. The concept of having a Death Note where you can kill a person just by writing their name in it is scary but deep down we all need it, don’t we?
