9+ BEST Frog Pokemons (RANKED)

Updated July 25, 2022 by

It has been years now since the launch of the first Pokemon series went out to the world and boy, a lot of people surely got hooked, even until today! After so many Pokemon generations it’s getting difficult now to choose which Pokemon would be better in your team. Whether you’d choose aesthetically or power-based, there’s so much to choose from to form that awesome team you’d love.

Table of Contents

Most people today choose their Pokemons by its element type and some players base their picks according to what kind of animal they love to have. Some other people have set their eyes on amphibians, especially those who find frogs cute and incredible. Why not? They are amazing and wonderful creatures!

Notably in the World of Pokemon, there are quite a few frog-like Pokemon that you’d surely like to have in your team as one Pokemon lover to another. Here is our 10 Best Frog Pokemon Ranked.

MUST HAVE FROG POKEMONS!

10. Croagunk

pokemon croagunk

Max CP Lvl 50 ATK DEF STA
1077 116 76 134

For our first contender, coming in number ten, with such colorful palettes as its feature is Croagunk. But don’t let its beauty deceive you for they can inflict you with a lot of poisonous damage. While a Frog’s vocal sacs help them to make that ribbit sound in real life, Croagunk’s vocal sacs store a sinister weapon that can cause paralysis.

Croagunk has a unique skill set that can surely make its foes confused. It has the ability to anticipate its enemy’s move (like spider man’s spider sense), its Sludge Bomb that can deal eighty damage in the enemy’s HP and Poison touch/Poison Jab which literally poisons everything it touches. If you’d make Croagunk your girlfriend think twice before cheating or else you’d go to the afterlife croaking fast.

Although Croagunk has a Max Cp of 1077 and has a 116/76/134 in Attack/Defense/Stamina it is still weak to Ground, Flying and Psychic Pokemon types. The good thing is that Croagunk is favored during cloudy weather. It also has a good resistance to other pokemon types such as Dark, Fighting, Grass, Poison and Rock types.

Croagunk is the base evolution form of Toxicroak which is inspired from poisonous frogs. We consider Croagunk in this early rank for it has the exact skill set, abilities and colorful design to immobilize your foe fast. So if you want to build your Pokemon team with offense and defensive stats, having Croagunk is good to make your foes croak speedily.

9. Froakie

pokemon Froakie

1122 122 84 121

Next in the line is Froakie, one of the cutest and must have Pokemon ever! Froakie is the base evolution form of Frogadier and Greninja. Its name is derived from ‘frog’ and the ‘croaking sound’ that is made by them.

Froakie is weak against Electric and Grass type Pokemons but if the Rain Weather is active, Froakie can really cause damage. Froakie has a good resistance with Fire, Water, Ice and Steel. Using its best moves called Pound and Surf along with its other skills, Froakie can really give its foes a hard time.

Froakie may seem like that cute, vulnerable, and easy to beat prey but think again. Its high jumping capability plus the bubbles around its body helps Froakie to be aware of its surroundings and not easily be damaged. Froakie’s true potential shows once you train it hard and see how far you can easily defeat other foes.

8. Bulbasaur

pokemon Bulbasaur

Max CP Lvl 50 ATK DEF STA
1260 118 111 128

Swinging by its long vines here in our list is no other than Bulbasaur! One of the OGs of the first generation starter pack along with Squirtle and Charmander. It’s a grass type frog-like pokemon that has had a huge fan base since then until now.

With a Max Cp of 1260 and 118/111/128 Attack/Defense/Stamina stats, Bulbasaur is one of the famous picks as a start-up Pokemon. Though Bulbasaur has a couple of weaknesses namely: Fire, Flying, Ice and Psychic Pokemons, it won’t back down that easily. In a Sunny and Cloudy weather, Bulbasaur’s Vine whip and Power whip can surely leave some lash marks on you.

Bulbasaur is a good choice as well when it comes to the balance in offense and defense. Using its vines that can either deflect attacks or whip their opponent, or with a solar beam that comes from the bulb on its back, it can surely send someone flying. Continue to train Bulbasaur and you’d see the victories as long as you cultivate and showered it with love.

7. Palpitoad

pokemon Palpitoad

Max CP Lvl 50 ATK DEF STA
1574 128 109 181

Evolving from a cute Tympole, here comes Palpitoad! A vibration frog Pokemon that takes its time in both land and water. And you’d know that it’s nearby when you get some vibrations around you. Now that’s an awesome shaking entrance if I should say.

Palpitoad has a Max CP of 1574 and with 128/109/181 Attack/Defense/Stamina stats. Although it is weak with Grass type pokemons, its finest moves Bubble and Earth Power can really give a fight, especially on a Rainy or Sunny Weather. It is mostly resistant to Electric, Fire, Poison, Rock and Steel Pokemon types. Not bad huh? Having Palpitoad in your team can really give you an upper hand in your battles.

Its name is derived from the word ‘palpitation’ which means rapid pulsation, and toad an amphibian species. It may look harmless and cute with its design but its vibration that comes from the bump on its head can cause waves or earthquake-like effects. So then, just a friendly reminder, don’t get Palpitoad angry because you won’t like it when it’s angry.

6. Poliwhirl

pokemon Poliwhirl

Max CP Lvl 50 ATK DEF STA
1604 130 123 163

Whirling his way in number six, here is Poliwhirl! A tadpole Pokemon that evolved from Poliwag and can grow stronger to either evolve to Poliwrath (a Water fighting type) or Politoed (A pure water type).  Stare at his belly and surely you’d get dizzy not because you’d get punched or anything but as long as you stare for a time you’d get hypnotized and before you know it, your vision already swirls.

Poliwhirl has a Max Cp of 1604 and with 130/123/163 Attack/Defense/Stamina. And its finest moves are Bubble and Bubble Beam  which can really give its enemies headaches. Even though Poliwhirl is weak against Electric and Grass type Pokemons, in Rain Weather maybe it can go par against them. Having resistance against Fire, Ice, Steel and Water, Poliwhirl has the chance to win its battles.

Poliwhirl’s attacks are mostly effective if it’s in water but that doesn’t mean it can’t damage on land. Its moist skin makes its enemies more cautious and it not easily to be grabbed. But if you have trouble sleeping, just have a Poliwhirl stand in front of you and poof! You’d be sleeping without care!

5. Frogadier

pokemon Frogadier

Max CP Lvl 50 ATK DEF STA
1850 168 114 144

High-five to our cool number five, we have Frogadier! A bubble frog Pokemon that is well adapted in both offense and defense as well. Frogadier’s name is derived from ‘frog’ and ‘brigadier’ (an army rank). And like a soldier on the frontlines, both speed and stealth are critical tools in defeating your enemies.

Frogadier uses its bubble-filled pebbles with accurate control and can even hit empty cans from a hundred feet away. Its finest moves are Bubble (a fast move that deals a damage of 12) and Surf (a water type assault move that deals a damage of 65). It is weak to Electric and Grass type Pokemons but with the favor of a Rainy weather, Frogadier can deal some sure damage.

Frogadier has a Max Cp of 1850 and a 168/114/144 Attack/Defense/Stamina. It is well resistant to Fire, Ice, Steel and Water type Pokemons. Not bad for a cool-looking frog I would say.

Its cool and confident design shall bring your confidence level up as well. With his skills set, you can surely make a good strategy in taking your opponents one by one. His base evolution form as Froakie and upper evolution as Greninja are both critical favorites as well. That said, let your enemies take their last ribbit.

4. Politoed

pokemon Politoed

Max CP Lvl 50 ATK DEF STA
2769 174 179 207

Another contender from the Poli family is Politoed, a frog Pokemon and the evolution of Poliwhirl through a King Stone. Hence, Politoed is considered the King of the Poli Family. Whenever it makes a croak in a loud voice or like a scream, Poliwags and Poliwhirls come to its aid.

Although Politoed is a King, that doesn’t mean that it has no weaknesses. Having Electric and Grass pokemon type go against it, Politoed would be on its toes. But with Politoed’s finest moves, Bubble and Weather ball along with Rain Weather, it can surely cause its foes trouble.

Politoed’s special defense stats are reliable and its skills are quite troublesome to opponents. It’s most of the time underappreciated by many Pokemon trainers but truly its capabilities in battle can bring you victory if trained right. Try it and see how Politoed echoes your winning streak.

3. Toxicroak

pokemon

Max CP Lvl 50 ATK DEF STA
2813 211 133 195

Like Croagunk the base evolution form of Toxicroak, is also a Poison Frog type of Pokemon. Its high attack stats is due to the Katar-like daggers on each of its fists which blows a double damage to its opponent. Those daggers are filled in with poisonous toxins that can really bring down a foe bigger than Toxicroak.

Like Croagunk, Toxicroak’s Poison Jab can really bring down a foe bigger than its size. Followed up with its Dynamic Punch, Toxicroak’s opponent will surely be TKO. Toxicroak may sound OP but it still has weaknesses such as Flying, Ground and Psychic Pokemons.

Toxicroak’s name is derived from ‘toxic,’ which means poisonous or hazardous and ‘croak,’ sounds that frogs make. Such a bad-ass name for a Pokemon who uses poisonous daggers like an assassin. Build up Toxicroak’s speed and your opponents will be lying down one by one.

2. Seismitoad

pokemon Seismitoad

Max CP Lvl 50 ATK DEF STA
2899 188 150 233

Moving slowly but surely, coming at number two is Seismitoad! The third evolution form of Tympole and just next to Palpitoad. A vibration frog Pokemon that uses its humps/warts on its body to either defeat their foes with earth shaking attacks or just use it to massage some people chilling.

Seismitoad’s finest moves, Bubble and Earth Power, can really shake its opponents til they drop. With a Max Cp of 2899 and 188/150/233 for Attack/Defense/Stamina stats, Seismitoad is a force not to be taken lightly. If you want to defeat one, you’d be needing a Grass type Pokemon because Seismitoad is quite resistant to Electric, Fire, Poison, Rock and Steel type of Pokemons.

Seismitoad is one of those Pokemons who can give out some destructive power. Its name is derived from the word ‘seismic’ relating to earthquakes and ‘toad’ a species of amphibian.  With just one vibration punch, it can ground some boulders to pieces and create earth-like tremors to shake their foes down.

So, if you have a Seismitoad on your roster, train it best to be able to ground your foes to pieces.

1. Greninja

pokemon Greninja

Max CP Lvl 50 ATK DEF STA
3001 223 152 176

Finally, topping at number one is one of the best and must have Pokemon for trainers, let us all welcome Greninja! A Ninja frog-like Pokemon whose speed and agility is so incredible. It is the third evolution form from Froakie and next to Frogadier.

Greninja’s Max CP is at 3001 and its Attack/Defense/Stamina is at 223/152/176, pretty impressive right? Along with its Feint Attack and Surf, Greninja can surely knock out one or two Pokemons in a row. See for yourself what Greninja can do in a Rain and Foggy weather, it’ll be like a Ninja lurking in the shadows, stealthily striking its victims one by one.

Greninja is the result when you mix cuteness with coolness and it’s awesome! With its speed, agility and high attack stats, no wonder it’s a must have among a lot of Pokemon trainers. It creates water-based shurikens thrown to its foes and has a lot of ninja techniques in its skill arsenal.

Move out of the way, Ninja turtles! For here comes our Ninja Frog, Greninja to take the spotlight! So, if you’re up for it, build a Frog Pokemon Team and see how these Pokemon can help you reach the top in your Pokemon Journey. May this list help you decide which Pokemon would you choose that best fits your Frog type Pokemon team.
