Imagine you used to be a popular actress or model, and suddenly you realize people are ignoring you and not even looking at you. How would you feel? Well, our MC, Mai Sakurajima, went through the same thing. She was a popular teen actress and model until one day, everyone stopped looking at her and she became invisible. She roamed around the city wearing whatever she liked. 

One day, an average high schooler, aka Sakuta Azusagawa, was going through the library and suddenly he noticed a girl in a bunny girl outfit. She was there to see if she gets noticed by someone. And that’s when Sakuta came in and noticed her. Mai was rather shocked to learn that someone could still see her and she was happy as well. Of course, imagine being seen by someone after a long time. Also, imagine how lonely she must have been. When I think about her loneliness, I feel like crying. 

It turns out that the syndrome she had was called “Adolescence Syndrome”. It is a syndrome that can translate someone’s traumatic experiences both emotional and physical, into real life. It affected Mai Sakurajima as well. While Sakuta was trying to get closer to Mai and help her with her struggles, he decided to solve the mystery of this syndrome. He also met some other girls suffering from this.

Therefore, the journey of two teenagers relying on one another for different things begins. We get to see their everyday life and this is such a great slice-of-life anime with a dash of mystery and science. Rascal Does Not Dream Of a Dreaming Girl 

This is the only movie of Rascal Does Not Dream Of Bunny Girl Senpai. By spending the majority of his time with Mai Sakurajima, our boy developed feelings for her and confessed to her too. Since he’s a good guy and has been there for Mai, she accepts him and ends up being his girlfriend! WOOHOO! Cheers to the cutest couple! Now it’s been six months they’ve been dating. 

Their lives are peaceful until the peace is interrupted by Sakuta’s past first love named Shoko Makinohara. She shows up while Sakuta was taking his sister to the hospital. There were actually two Shokos. One of them was Sakuta’s first love and the other one from the past. 

As the story proceeds, Sakuta learns that she’s in need of a heart transplant because of a deadly heart disease. While looking for solutions, Sakuta observes that there’s a connection between him, the future Shoko who comes after the heart transplantation, and his very own wounds. It turns out that Sakuta was the heart donor. OOF! 

Sakuta was declared brain dead after getting into an accident on Christmas day. Shoko develops feelings for him after all the interactions they had and tries to go back to the past in order to save his life. When Sakuta was about to get hit, he was saved by Mai. She saved him and the heart donor turned out to be Mai in this timeline. 

Sakuta was super devastated by her death and that’s where Shoko came to help. She said that he can rewrite his destiny too with her help. Now, what will happen next? To find out, watch Rascal Does Not Dream Of a Dreaming Girl. 

MAIN CHARACTERS 

Mai Sakurajima 

Mai Sakurajima is the main protagonist who is an actress as well as a model. She was very popular among teenagers until one day, she got Adolescence Syndrome. It is a fatal syndrome affecting one’s reality. She wanted to be “seen” but she was deprived of that. Therefore, she had to struggle a long time all by herself until one day, Sakuta showed up at the library and made her feel seen. 

Let’s talk about her appearance now, Mai is a lean woman with long black hair reaching her thighs. Let’s just first praise her bunny outfit look, okay? She looked so good in that outfit! If you’re missing out on that, let me just quickly show you! Here’s a picture of Mai wearing the bunny outfit. 

When it comes to her personality, she’s a B-type Tsundere which means that she is chill but tends to get jealous as well. She’s a kind, friendly, and fragile girl. All she needed was to be cared for and to be loved. Was that too much to ask for? No! Sakuta came and gave her everything she needed. 

Sakuta Azusagawa 

Now, we have the second main character in the anime. He’s an average high schooler who could never dream of dating someone as pretty as Mai Sakurajima. He helped her a lot through her struggles with Adolescence Syndrome. 

He’s a lean and tall guy with brown hair. He’s the cute type of guy who wasn’t really popular at his school which I don’t understand why. But anyway, he’s a kind, soft-hearted guy who loves to protect the people close to his heart and make them feel at home. Even as a brother, he’s super caring.
