Introduction
When she was first introduced, Melty was known as the second Princess of Melromarc. She got the position that her older sister, Malty S. Melromarc, was supposed to have because she proved herself to be much more mature and dedicated to the country that she adores.
Her mother eventually died and she became the Queen of Melromarc, this was right after the war against a country known as Faubrey.

When she was officially appointed to her new position, her first move was to bestow upon the Shield Hero, Naofumi Iwatani, the title of Archduke, it was kind of a payback. He teased her about all the new responsibilities that she had so she made him share them with her.
However, that move blew out in her face since she realized, but too late, that that position was only below that of the Queen and it automatically made them engaged to each other.

Melty looks like an adorable little doll. She ties her blue hair in two cute ponytails ornamented with blue ribbons. She has deep blue eyes that shine just like the vast ocean. She wears a blue and white lace dress befitting the title of our little Princess (The Rising of the Shield Hero Anime: Season 1 Episode 9).
Personality
When Melty is not very familiar with a person, she only shows the mature, polite, and honorable side of her, the side that is befitting of a royal princess. However, Melty is undeniably a child and has the right to act like it.
Although very educated and smart, she has a cute innocent side to her. She doesn’t discriminate against anyone, not even Demi-humans. She treats them with the same respect that she treats her friends.
She never abuses the power that comes with her status as the Crowned Princess which shows how mature and noble she is. She upholds her morals before all.
Those qualities, which are the exact opposite of her sister’s personality, made her mother choose her over Malty to succeed the throne.
When she started spending time with Naofumi, she realized that she started to act a bit spoiled when she was with him, probably because she felt like she didn’t need to act or uphold a perfect image in front of him, her childish side surfaced.
There is another cute trait that Melty has, a trait that she most probably got from her mother and it’s her love for Filolials. She’s obsessed with them and even got lost more than once while playing with them (The Rising of the Shield Hero Anime: Season 1 Episode 9).Although very educated and smart, she has a cute innocent side to her. She doesn’t discriminate against anyone, not even Demi-humans. She treats them with the same.

When they first met, Naofumi cruelly kicked her out of his party after learning she was royalty (The Rising of the Shield Hero Anime: Season 1 Episode 9). However, Melty was determined to show her good faith and she did.
Naofumi ends up saving her from her sister who was trying to kill her as well as the Cult, the other three Heroes, and a noble scum who kidnapped her (The Rising of the Shield Hero Anime: Season 1 Episode 13-14).
Motoyasu Kitamura
(Spear Hero)
Baka Motoyasu really believed that Melty was brainwashed by the shield and was determined to save her. A noble gesture but after Melty saw how he was perversely acting toward Filo, she snapped and attacked him (The Rising of the Shield Hero Anime: Season 1 Episode 13).
Aultcray Melromarc XXXII (Staff Hero)
Although undeniably evil and is an individual who lost his path, Melty can’t help but love Aultcray as he is her father.
Raphtalia (Katana Hero)
After they met, they easily became friends. When Naofumi was banishing her from his group and blaming her for her origins, Raphtalia was way more lenient with the little Princess.
However, she did discard her after Naofumi took his final decision but welcomed her back when she proved to be trustworthy (The Rising of the Shield Hero Anime: Season 1 Episode 14).
Malty S Melromarc
Malty is Melty’s older sister. Malty despises her because she took her place on the throne. The evil witch even tried to kill her sister with her own hands (The Rising of the Shield Hero Anime: Season 1 Episode 13).
Even after all she did, Melty found the power to forgive her and was terrified to see her die when her mother announced that she will pay for her crimes with her life (The Rising of the Shield Hero Anime: Season 1 Episode 22).
Mirellia Q Melromarc
Mirellia is the Queen of Melromarc and Melty’s mother. Although they are family while interacting in front of others, Melty shows utmost respect toward her mother.
Mirellia deeply cares for her, she is the one who raised her to be the strong soul she is today. Melty owes her everything and is always honored and proud to receive missions from her.
Filo
Filo is a Filolial. Knowing how obsessed Melty is with them, you can imagine how much she adores her.
She doesn’t just like her because of her race, she also loves her as a person and the thing is Filo feels the same way towards her. They are the best of friends.
Eclair Seaetto
Both girls work together to manage Naofumi’s dominion.
Ruftmila
He is currently living in Naofumi’s village but was sent to Melromarc to further his education. Melty was his tutor there.
Idol Rabier
He was a disgusting monster who called himself a noble. He used to capture and torture Demi-humans for his amusement. Raphtalia was one of his victims. At some point, he kidnapped Melty and threatened to kill her if she didn’t tell him where Naofumi is (The Rising of the Shield Hero Anime: Season 1 Episode 14).
Biscas T. Balmus
He was an evil pope who tried to kill the Devil of the Shield along with the two Princesses of Melromarc (The Rising of the Shield Hero Anime: Season 1 Episode 18).
Plot
Melromarc is a country plagued by disaster, the Waves of Catastrophe are unleashing upon its people endless hordes of merciless monsters that are destroying everything in their wake.
Desperate, they had to rely on an old legend that said that only warriors summoned from another world can save them from their horrible fate.
With no other choice before them, they started the ritual and four teenagers appeared before them. Each of those boys were entrusted with a legendary weapon.
The first one got a spear turning him into the Spear Hero, the second one was given a Sword thus becoming the Sword Hero, and the third was bestowed upon a bow and became to be called the Bow Hero. The last one drew the short straw and got stuck with a shield and took the name of the Shield Hero.
The Shield Hero who was an optimistic and kind individual who didn’t curse his fate for the weapon that he got, on the contrary, he was determined to help the people as much as he could with the little power that he had. It’s just that the unthankful people didn’t want his help.
He was left alone until the beautiful first Princess of Melromarc asked for the honor to party with him. She looked gentle and innocent and he accepted her offer without any hesitation.
The Princess turned out to be a witch in disguise since she ended up stealing all his belongings and falsely accused him in front of the entire country of abusing her.
No one took the Shield Hero’s side. Now, not only was he looked down upon, but he was also deeply hated not only by the people of Melromarc, but also by his so-called Nakama.
Scared by a trauma, the Shield Hero’s gentle smile disappeared and only hatred and cruelty were left in his heart.
Still forced to fight for this ungrateful world in order to go back to Japan, his home, he realized that he needed allies but was unfortunately unable to trust anyone (The Rising of the Shield Hero Anime: Season 1 Episode 1).
He finally decides to purchase a slave, this slave was Raphtalia. The party also grew bigger when they welcomed a baby Filolial who they named Filo (The Rising of the Shield Hero Anime: Season 1 Episode 5).
Shockingly, the third person who managed to break the Shields Hero’s barriers, but with a lot of difficulties, was Melty.
She came to him promising him to clear his name as she knew that her evil big sister was the cause of all his misfortune.
He dismissed her at first, however, the young girl was stubborn and desired to become a member of his group. She proved herself more than once until the Shield Hero recognized her as a trustworthy individual who puts her friends above everything (The Rising of the Shield Hero Anime: Season 1 Episode 9).
