PLOT
As I’ve mentioned earlier, Kill La Kill revolves around a lonely girl named Ryuko Matoi who has been through a lot. She wants to find her father’s killer, which eventually gets her into big trouble. The trouble is nothing more than Satsuki Kiryuin, who’s the student council president of the well-known Honnouji Academy. On top of that, her mother has a fashion empire! How cool is that?
Kill La Kill begins with Ryuko Matoi transferring into Honnouji Academy, which is well-known for its fearful students. The students belonging to the student council wear a specific uniform called “Goku”, and then they get superhuman abilities. Ryuko encounters the president of the student council, Satsuki, and asks her to give her the red giant scissor blade.
Ryuko on her way back, gets beaten by Takaharu Fukuroda, who’s known to be the captain of the boxing club. Everyone at this academy is just so mean to her, she gets looked down by other people. If you were at such an academy, what would you do? Would you take the risk for yourself? Would you save other helpless children like you?
When Ryuko falls, she sees a basement, and she also sees a sailor uniform there. That uniform was put on her as if it was meant for her. Yes, that’s right. It was forcefully worn. Ryuko, after getting that uniform, confronts the student council and saves one of her classmates from getting a death sentence. After all that chaos, Ryuko asks about her father from Satsuki since she’s the one who killed him and has the scissor blade.
Ryuko really did her best and after the battle, she was exhausted, so she passed out. When she opened her eyes, she was with the Mankanshoku family. On the same day, she explained what happened between her and the uniform she was wearing.
Her uniform was called Senketsu and was made by her father. As the story moves on, Ryuko confronts another club captain named Omiko Hakodate and gets defeated by her. Why? Because she failed to activate Senketsu.
Aikuro explains that in order to activate Senketsu, she needs blood. Now things are getting dark, I like it. So, Senketsu is basically a kamui that requires blood. That’s when Aikuro offers her a glove that might help her in future events. After that day, Aikuro tells us about the Life Fibers, which provide the student council with special abilities.
Their uniforms are made of Life Fibers and that’s why they’re unstoppable. And just like that, Ryuko keeps learning more and more about Kamui, Senketsu, and other such things related to Honnouji Academy. We talked a lot about the plot, but now it’s time for us to talk about the main characters! Let’s get started!
MAIN CHARACTERS
Ryuko Matoi
Ryuko Matoi is the main female protagonist of the series, “Kill La Kill”. She’s in search of her father’s killer throughout the series. In fact, she’s also looking for a red scissor blade, which turns out to be in the hands of the president of the student council, Satsuki.
Therefore, the path that she chose for herself isn’t that easy. It’s going to require risks, and even her life.
When it comes to her personality, she’s very simple-minded and furious. She can’t stand it when someone looks down on her. Ryuko tends to get disrespectful at times. She’s the type of person who isn’t afraid to endanger her own life.
Ryuko might look naive, but she can step up for herself just fine. She is the main character. She has the spotlight on her and for sure, she shines the brightest throughout the series! Let’s move on to the next character now!
Satsuki Kiryuin
Satsuki Kiryuin, or the president of the student council, is the main antagonist in the series. She’s known to kill Ryuko’s father. She’s highly intellectual and prideful too. She thinks that weak humans should be treated like pigs. Satsuki, being the president of the student council, looks down upon other students, which explains why she has huge pride.
Satsuki was the first child, so she had a mountain of responsibilities. She had to look after her siblings and the fact that her father died enraged her too at times. So, it won’t be fair to say that she lived an easy life. Trauma stays with everyone. Isn’t that right?
