While Hotaru Shidare’s presence may be a harbinger of things to come, it might also be a warning. This next recommendation I have for you is a 12-episode anime aired in winter of 2015. Well, if you want some culinary stuff, this anime is one of my cutest recommendations so far.

The story began around what the late grandma of Ryou Machiko told her, at least according to Ryou Machiko’s own personal experience. Ryou’s culinary prowess is unmatched for a student in his or her grade, but lately, despite the fact that his or her food seems tasty and smells welcoming, it has been disappointing.

Kirin Morino, Ryou’s second cousin, has just started cramming in school and attends the very same school like Ryou, so her aunt informs Ryou that she’ll be spending every weekend with her since she’ll be staying on her every other weekend.

This story is about Tatsu, a legend known by the name Immortal Dragons. All of that turned into nothing when he was transformed into the role of domestic husband. It is quite funny how a legend turns into a house husband. It is kinda cute tho!

As a result, Youichi finds himself in a culinary arms race with his opponents.

The usage of a live-action portion in Cookin’ Idol Ai! Mai! Main is an intriguing addition.

Fukuhara Haruka is shown in the flesh. Her voice is used to portray Main in the anime adaptations. Fukuhara attempts to recreate the dish from her anime counterpart’s recipe using only real-world products and equipment.

Well, I am not saying something bad about the adaptation, but I recommend you to watch the anime, because as a person who really loves anime, watching adaptations kinda make me sick, exaggeratedly. 

 

21. Muteki Kanban Musume

Just like the last one, this next anime also is a fun anime to watch. It has comedy and actions within it. The title of this comedy’s English version, Unbeatable Delivery Girl, says it all.

Miki Onimaru works as a delivery girl at her mother’s restaurant, which is operated by her mother. Miki’s attitude is the antithesis of the Chinese ramen shop.

Despite being funny to some, Miki’s outgoing and often obnoxious demeanor irritates others. The Muteki Kanban Musume benefits greatly from her over-the-top antics.

The series also has several food-related scenes. With this reason, this anime is known to be a good part of this list.

 

20. Walking Meat

Personally, I do not like this next anime, but I believe there are people who would like and give interest to this anime, that’s why I included it here on this list. You can watch it now if you’re curious about it. Just look for walking meat on any of your streaming websites.

The story of this anime Walking Meat has a strong culinary basis. As a result, this is the only reason it has been included on this list at all. Those with weak stomachs should avoid watching this program.

In the end, this series is all about tasty zombies, which is why it’s so weird. Rather than running from the undead, individuals in this zombie-centric story devise clever methods to consume them—sautéed, boiled, and squeezed.

Flesh Inc. used African voodoo practices to deliberately manufacture zombies for the express goal of commercializing them via the food business.

It’s not only hamburgers and pet food that the program incorporates lab-grown zombies into, but also a variety of cosmetics. An absurd tale is introduced by three self-centered millennials working at Flesh Inc. They become stuck in a fully mechanized zombie farm.

In this oddly fascinating anime, they are put into a survival situation they never expected to find themselves in with their ‘techno-tard’ boss.

This next anime is, I believe, a fun anime to watch. It starts with safety and convenience as the only two of the many benefits that come with living in an apartment complex that also has a supermarket. It all goes sideways, though, when the business in question has one of its nighttime half-off deals.

Suddenly, everyone’s attention seems to be drawn to the still-unsold bento boxes. In more ways than one, the inhabitants are clamoring for meals. A Black Friday-style struggle for products turns friends into adversaries as the business comes under attack by customers full of pride and dignity.

There are Wolves and Dogs in this game, with the former being used to describe the winners. It’s You Satou who has unwittingly entered this battle zone.

Yarizui also summons Hana Oshiroi, a female he observed watching the “fights” from the stands. To help the two understand the difference between dogs and wolves, Sen Yarizui begins teaching them. His ‘Half-Priced Food Lovers Club’ also enrolls them. You and Hana are instructed on the need to engage in combat in order to get sustenance.

 

18. Kiyo in Kyoto: From the Maiko House

This next anime is written by Aiko Koyama. It began airing in 2021 and ended in 2022. I include this anime to this list because I think it is one of the most worthy of being here.

The story begins when Sumire and Kiyo traveled to Kyoto with the goal to become maiko. However, due to an unforeseen turn of circumstances, Kiyo finds himself working as a live-in chef at Maiko for a while. Their narrative takes place in Kyoto’s Kagai district, which includes the maiko districts and Geiko. Well, I personally wanted to visit Kyoto, but I don’t have any knowledge of these districts.

Kiyo provides them with nutritious home-cooked meals on a regular basis, while Sumire works hard to achieve her goal of becoming the once-in-a-century maiko.

Step inside the glitzy Kagai and let the behind-the-scenes tales and Kiyo’s cooking episodes fill your emotions with warmth. Keep an eye out for this heartwarming story of two childhood friends who support and encourage one another as they grow up together.

 

17. Oishinbo: Japanese Cuisine

Even though she is a pessimist who is lacking initiative, Yamaoka Shiro is an expert in the culinary arts. She’s been assigned the most essential task in the world.

I highly recommend you to watch Oishinbo: Japanese Cuisine if you’re inquisitive about how this manga became one of the best-selling ever, as the anime adaptation will answer some of your questions.

 

16. Ristorante Paradiso

She goes to Rome as a young girl with the intention of destroying her mother’s life. Olga is waiting for Nicoletta in the Casetta dell’Orso restaurant as she enters.

In the face of their wise smiles and kind words, she feels helpless. It’s an odd place, run entirely by middle-aged guys with spectacles. Before she even realizes it, she becomes sucked into the lovely romance of everyday life in Italy.

Later, he opened his own pub, the Eden Hall, in Tokyo’s Ginza district, hidden away in a little alley. According to speculations, visitors to Eden Hall are unable to access the venue without the host’s authorization.

It’s an understatement to say that Sasakura is known as the Glass of the Gods since he always knows just what to serve his guests.

Youshoku no Nekoya is a cafe located on the building’s lower floor, close to the office street. Office employees in the area have relied on it for more than 50 years. Despite its moniker, there is a vast variety of food on the menu. It’s a cafeteria for a planet that’s distinctive in its own way.

In fact, Nekoya hides a dark secret in her sleeve. The cafeteria is closed to the general public on Saturdays to accommodate special guests. When the bell rings, customers from all over the globe pour into the restaurant.

The meal served to the general public is the same, but the distinguished guests find it unique. The restaurant’s name translates to alternate-world restaurant because of its high standards.

This next anime does not begin with anything that is food-related or anything that has coffee in it, but I can assure you that this anime is worth the recommendations. This anime begins with a samurai called Jin that desires to be reborn in a metal body after he is killed in battle.

Once in Seoul, this poor samurai reappears similar to a coffee vending machine in the modern and contemporary day. Jin’s fighting days are not finished. In the series, the coffee-rai and other similarly resurrected samurai engage in combat.

Even though Yuugo is a fish out of water, there is still a lot of humor to be found in his situation. Despite this, he persists. It is Yuugo’s quest to enjoy life to the fullest that leads him to meet new individuals. As a result, he develops a new respect for food and the people who raise and provide it.

They had lost their parents, their house, and the possibility of a promising future—all devastating results of the war.

Now orphans, Setsuko and Seita have no option but to wander through the countryside, afflicted by poverty and sickness. Meeting adults along the road, they realize that dire circumstances can make even the nicest of people nasty but their young idealism shines brilliantly with in the case of severe misery, stopping the brothers from fast falling to an inevitable destiny.
