Clannad was released in April 2004 which instantly caught millions of readers’ hearts because of the seemingly emotional but at the same time funny plot lines. Clannad is an interesting genre since the MC is surrounded by lots of girls. Wish I had the same thing. Ever since the anime was aired, it didn’t take so long for it to be considered an iconic series that made readers break down even after the ending.

Clannad is all about a high school delinquent who meets a group of five girls that will help him reconnect to the world and the value of life and family. Basically, these girls will be his love interests who have different ways of making the story into a lengthy series with 2 seasons. The second one is called Clannad: After Story.

The series has a filler list, which means there are some scenes that aren’t in the manga that have been developed in the anime production. This makes the story a bit longer than the manga itself.

CLANNAD CHARACTERS

Now, let’s talk about the characters. Tomoya Okazaki is the main protagonist who luckily gets surrounded by lots of girls—probably because he’s handsome. Nagisa Furukawa is Tomoya’s love interest and they’ve been intimate with each other in the end of the story. Kyou and Ryou Fujibayashi are twin sisters in the story. Kyou is very protective of her sister and she has anger issues. Tomoya would always end up getting hit with a book. Kotomo Ichinose was Tomoya’s childhood friend according to the revelation of the Garden of Memories. There are still many more characters in this anime and the ones stated above are my personal favorites.

As I’ve said, the MC is surrounded by lots of girls—how I wish I had the same thing.

The romance-filled anime also left the fans with tears in their eyes because of the sad themes that involve love, life, family and fatherhood. So, get your tissues or handkerchiefs ready for this.
