Who doesn’t like sports anime? I mean! Just take a look at Haikyuu!!, the story is so good and it is probably one of the most popular out there currently. Well, sadly this isn’t a Haikyuu watch order.
Table of Contents
So I can’t really explain the story of Haikyuu!!. BUT! This is still a sports anime going by the name of Diamond No Ace. It’s quite underrated in my opinion though the story is really great! Oh wait! I forgot to tell what Diamond No Ace is even about! Diamond No Ace is a baseball anime that aired from October 6, 2013 to March 19, 2015. This anime isn’t really that old! For some people, this anime might seem old but let me tell you one thing, “Old is Gold”. You shouldn’t underestimate old anime, since a lot of old anime are better than the current ongoing anime. Diamond No Ace was produced by Madhouse and Production I.G and was released to the T.V on October 6, 2013.
Diamond No Ace second season also aired a bit after the first season ended. In 2019, Diamond No Ace Act 2 released and aired on April 2. Anyways, let’s start with the Watch Order.

Diamond No Ace Seasons
As I mentioned, Diamond No Ace has 3 seasons.
Diamond No Ace Season 1
Diamond No Ace Season 1 features around 75 episodes, each episode is different from the other. There is 1 filler, and that is episode 28. The rest is canon, but imma still say which episodes are canon.
Episode 1-27 is canon and episode 29-75 is canon. Diamond No Ace Season 1 follows the story of our MC, Eijun Sawamura, who was a dedicated baseball player. During his middle school, there was this final baseball match that Eijun wanted to win. He tried his best but… in the end, he lost. He got angry and annoyed, after all the hours that he put on practice, he lost. Following that, he and his team decided that they are gonna try super hard and try to get into the National Baseball Tournament when they will be in High School.
One day, an outrider from Seidou High School saw Eijun’s pitching style. He was impressed! So, he contacted Eijun and invited him to Seidou High School where he will be able to meet a lot of skilled baseball players and train with them.
He talked with his friends and they all agreed that this is for the best, so Eijun accepts the deal and gets into Seidou High School. There were tons of skilled baseball players there, so he had a hard time finding a team. He finally found a team and swore to himself that he will become the team’s ace one day. But, that won’t be so easy as there is this person by the name of Saturo Furuya who might become the team’s ace before Eijun does. That just means that Eijun has to try twice as hard as Saturo and become the team’s ace first.
Season 1 left us with Eijun mastering his pitch when he was against his opponents in a really close match.
Diamond No Ace Season 2
Season 2 features 51 episodes. This anime picks up where it left off, and continues with the Eijun’s team preparing for an upcoming tournament. Before they start practicing, we get a recap of the Seido vs Yakushi game. Well, it’s quite surprising to see that the second season of Diamond No Ace started shortly after Diamond No Ace Season 1, in the same year but there was a month or so gap.
Most anime take forever to release their next season, many don’t even release them. Soon, Seido High School meets their biggest opponent so far, Teito High School. Well, what’s so interesting about this school, you may ask? Well, this school won 27 times in the National Baseball Match, and they have also won 2 times in a row too. Wow, that’s just crazy!
As both school teams started a baseball match, the weather started to get a bit bad. Saturo Furuya came in, everyone thought that he was unbeatable, but Saturo’s focus was ruined shortly after there was a pause. Soon, the match started again.
Oh and, this is all happening in the tournament that I was talking about earlier. For those who are confused, they didn’t just randomly decide to have a match with each other lmao. I mean, that would seem kinda weird, don’t you think? As they progress through the series, they try their hardest to win against other teams. Sometimes they fail, sometimes they win, so basically this is just a win and loss game they are currently playing. The series progressed in Diamond No Ace Act ll.
Oh and the series ended with Seido High School playing in Senbatsu, a baseball tournament where they won the first round and progressed through the match.
Diamond No Ace Act II
After Diamond No Ace season 2 ended, Diamond No Ace Act II was announced later on and premiered in 2019 on April 2. There are 52 episodes in this series and it lasted till March 31, 2020.
The first day of the so-called Spring Koshien has just begun, Eijun decides to come in and show what he has achieved so far— only to find himself defeated. In episode 2, Seido plays against Nihon Shono and wins, and Seido advances to the quarter-finals. They can win if they try their best! Lemme ask a quick quiz question. Who do you think would win? Seido or one of the other teams? You can just guess!
[SPOILER ALERT]
Well, let’s move on and see who wins. In the quarter finals, Seido High School were against Fujimaki High School, now to reveal the answer who won… the winner of the quarter final match was Fujimaki High School. That was a big oooof! After they tried so hard to get to the quarter final. They just lost the game. At the end of the series, it was still a mystery who became the ace of the team. Let’s move on to OVAs.
Diamond No Ace Movies, OVAs, Live Action Film
As I mentioned before, Diamond No Ace has no movies, no live action film but it does have 2 OVAs, and I will be explaining both.
Diamond No Ace OVA
There are approximately 100 hundred baseball players that represent Seidou High School. Well, our main characters for example, Eijun Sawamura, have been given quite some skills, and they are popular in the teams.
But, that doesn’t really go for everyone in the team. Even these baseball players are trying their best to become known for something, even if they get little popularity just for a few days, they would take it.
Ryousuke Kominato is really popular in his team. He is known for his fielding skills, and with his brother, Youichi Kuramochi, they become really good!
This OVA features over 100 baseball players and Ryousuke Kominato and Youichi Kuramochi.
Diamond No Ace: Second Season OVA
Diamond No Ace: Second Season OVA is a bit different, there isn’t quite much to explain in this one since this OVA covers mostly the 4th and 5th manga volume of the anime.
Overall Watch Guide
As we come to an end, it’s probably time for me to stop telling you about the rest of the stuff and get to the main point, the actual order of the anime, Diamond No Ace.
1. Diamond No Ace
Diamond No Ace was released in 2015, and obviously we gotta watch the first season to proceed. I mean, I don’t really think there’s anyone out there that will just straight up go to the final season when that person hasn’t even watched the other parts of the series.
2. Diamond No Ace OVA
Similar to Diamond No Ace Season One, this OVA was released in 2015. Well, if you ask me, then I would suggest that you watch OVA too! I am not really forcing you, but the OVA doesn’t really change or affect the main storyline a lot.
If you wanna know a little side plotline, then you shouldn’t skip this!
3. Diamond No Ace Second Season
Diamond No Ace Season 2 was released shortly after the first season. I already explained the storyline back, but I forgot to mention one thing… that the second season of Diamond No Ace was a true banger!
4. Diamond No Ace: Second Season OVA
5. Diamond No Ace: Second Season OVA was released in 2016, shortly after the second season.
6. Diamond No Ace: Act ll
Now, this was a gem! This was released in 2019, but it was really good! The animation was a lot better than the previous seasons too.
Conclusion
Well, sadly this is the end of the Watch Order for Diamond No Ace. I would recommend that you check this anime out if you are a true sport lover! Have a nice and wonderful day!
