Anime including cards makes the show more fascinating, right? Shows with such themes are becoming more popular since they are entertaining to watch.

It’s a magnificent experience to see our favorite characters in anime playing card games. When I was in school, I collected Pokemon and Bakugan cards just to look cool in front of my pals (those were the best days).

Cards represent tradition, and if you enjoy watching anime such as Yu-Gi-Oh! and Bakugan, then fasten your seatbelts because this blog is all about anime that involves cards.

21. Fantasista Doll

Fantasista Doll is an anime about dolls that got reincarnated into the human world and are grateful to their owner for bringing them there. Don’t be frightened since the dolls will not be frightening instead, they will be Kawaii.

The main plot of this anime focuses on Uzume, a young but talented card player. She signed a contract one day, which resulted in her having five gorgeous dolls in her possession, which everyone around her wanted to steal.

Rather than being worried about losing her dolls, she challenged that anyone who can defeat her in a duet battle can have one of her dolls, and that’s where things started to get really interesting.

20. Selector Infected WIXOSS

On number 20, we have Selector Infected WIXOSS, a fantastic card game anime that revolves around the story of Ruuko Kominato. She moved to a new place, and as an introvert, she can’t make any friends and can’t even interact with others.

When her brother saw her like this, he handed her Wixoss, a popular card set. But when she received those cards from her brother, she noticed something odd about them.

What’s in those cards? Is someone trapped in there asking for her help, or is there a monster trying to get out of those cards?

I can’t tell you that because I want you to find it yourself. So, put on your headphones, and start watching this amazing anime.

19. Weiß Survive

Moving on, we have Weiß Survive, an intriguing card game anime that tells the narrative of Takeshi, an average and lazy person. One day, he met Michi, and that’s where everything went upside down in Takeshi’s ordinary life.

Michi is regarded as the most beautiful girl in the entire school, so you can imagine what happens when the most beautiful girl in the school is transferred into another universe with an average guy.

Takeshi must defeat everyone in a card game to return to their home. Is he capable of doing so? Man, how would I know? You’d have to watch anime to find out.

18. Shadowverse

On number 18, we have Shadowverse, a fantastic anime that is more like an advertisement for its Nintendo card game. This anime revolves around Hiro Ryugasaki, the MC of this show, who only wants one thing and that is to fight. He wants to defeat the whole world population at once.

Many people have mixed views about this anime, but personally, I think it’s quite entertaining. Moreover, if you are looking for a cards game anime that is kids-friendly, then this is the pick for you

17. Cardfight!! Vanguard

When we’re talking about card-game anime, we can’t leave out this one. Cardfight!! Vanguard takes place in a new world where everyone is obsessed with the card game, and this craze is spreading faster than the CoronaVirus.

The trend is not only popular on Earth but also in other worlds. The anime’s main plot focuses on Aichi Sendou, a young kid frequently bullied due to his appearance, but his life changed after receiving Blaster Blade.

Blaster Blade is a scarce card that he uses when feeling sad. But all changed when his card was taken by his bully, and Aichi had to battle him to get it back. Is he capable of doing so? Find out by watching the anime.

16. Aikatsu

On number 16, we have Aikatsu, which appears to be a fighting anime but believe me, nothing in this anime is related to fighting. This anime is about an academy where girls from wealthy families take admission to become cheerleaders.

Aoi Kiriya, along with Ichigo, applied at Starlight Academy to become like their idol, Mizuki Kanzaki.

Aikatsu cards—which feature outfits and accessories worn by famous models, are required for the females to audition, but the main question is how can they find those cards?

15. Kaiji

On number 15, we have Kaiji, a great anime that shows how bad gambling can affect anyone’s life. Kaiji revolves around the story of Kaiji Itou, a loser obsessed with drinking beer. All he does is drink beer and steal things so that he can drink more of it.

One day, he was tricked by his coworker to join an illicit gambling business aboard a cruise, and the moment he agreed to join that, his life became hell. Our MC is now stuck at a place from where he can’t return.

What will he do? Can he live a normal life again? Watch this anime to find out.

14. Digimon Tamers

Moving up, we have a great kids-friendly anime called Digimon, which involves card games. Let me tell you what Digimon are; Digimons are cute creatures who can talk and understand anything.

This anime’s main plot focuses on Takato Matsuda, our MC, who is obsessed with card games and Digimons. One day, he and his buddies were transferred into a gaming world populated by Digimons.

Some kids wanted to go home, while others were overjoyed that their dream of playing with Digimon had come true.

As Digimons are good creatures, they try to help the children get back to their homes. Digimon is a beautiful anime with a fantastic storyline, so if you are looking for anime like that, don’t forget to watch this one.

13. Z/X: Ignition

Z/X: Ignition is a short anime series consisting of only 12 episodes. Although it is a short anime, it has made everyone fall in love with it. Because of its theme and plot, otakus from all over the world adore it.

Z/X: Ignition is set in the future, where “Five Black Points” have appeared in various locations worldwide. But those holes are not just some ordinary holes; strange monsters emerge from them, which can only be stopped by a rare card.

What’s going to happen now? Is the world going to be destroyed? Watch the anime to find out.

12. Future Card Buddyfight

This anime is adapted from its game, and it is one of the best card game anime. The story of this anime takes place in a more advanced version of the present day. The card game links to a parallel reality through unique cards that operate as portals.

They invite monsters to Earth so that they might make friends with humanity. They take on combat challenges known as Buddyfights, where individuals of all ages compete in friendly, non-harmful tournaments through friendship and courage.

Our MC, Gaou Mikado, has just recently started Buddyfighting, and it’s been fascinating to see him grow and learn. If you love watching anime involving cards, this one is the perfect pick.

11. Battle Spirits

Next, we have Battle Spirits which revolves around the story of a young boy named Dan Bashin who has been taken into a strange realm.

He is considered as the chosen soldier to save everyone, and in order to do so, he must battle all demons of the other world by using his card talents.

He’s been given a lot of responsibility, and the only way to find out if he can save them or not is to watch the anime.

10. Cardcaptor Sakura

On number 10, we have a classic anime called Cardcaptor Sakura. This anime is based on the life of Sakura, a ten-year-old girl. Sakura went about her daily routine when she came upon a fascinating book filled with playing cards.

That was no ordinary book; monsters had been bound inside it, but when Sakura opened it, they all fled. Sakura is the only one who can catch those monsters, but how can a 10-year-old girl defeat them? Watch the anime to find out.

9. Build Divide: Code Black

This anime is set in New Kyoto City, where everyone’s worth is determined by their ability to play Build Divide (a card game). There is one bizarre thing about this city: any request will be granted if someone can overcome the King of this City.

Teruto Kurabe, our MC, enters and vows to defeat the king so that his wishes will be granted. Build Divide: Code Black is a short anime with just 12 episodes with a perfect card-trading theme.

So, if you are a fan of anime that involves cards, don’t forget to add this to your list.

8. Chihayafuru

Chihayafuru centres around Chihaya Ayase, who appears to be a tomboy. Chihaya used to live with her sister and had no desires. She was living an everyday life until she met Arata Wataya. 

Arata was a transfer student, and after they became friends, Arata introduced Chihaya to a new card game, which she instantly fell in love with, and their adventure to become one of the top Karuta players started.

Chihayafuru, with just 25 episodes, is one of the finest anime. It is most well-known for its unique character designs, excellent animation, and plot.

7. Dragon Collection

On number 7, we have Dragon Collection, which goes around the story of Hiro Enryuu, an ordinary kid (but not for so long). Everything about his life completely changed when he was trapped in a game world known as Dragon Collection. 

This is the realm of Dragon Earth, where gods, humans, and monsters coexist. Dracolle Battlers are those who traverse the globe using a magic book called a Grimoire and cards to summon demons and seek treasures using dragon abilities.

Despite his confusion, Hiro becomes a Dracolle Battler, and together with the comrades he meets there, they embark on a journey for him to become a renowned Dragon Master!

6. Mix Master

The plot of this anime revolves around the story of a beautiful card game known as Mix Master. Moreover, what makes the show interesting is how the game world is turned into a real-world because of a crazy experiment. 

Not only that, but all of the insane creatures have escaped from the game world and are now destroying the human world. What happens next? Will there be a hero to stop them, or will they be successful in destroying the Earth?

These questions can only be answered by watching the anime, so hurry up and start watching this fantastic card game anime.

5. Bakugan Battle Brawlers

On number 5, we have Bakugan Battle Brawlers!  When it comes to anime that involves cards, I must say, this is one of the best! It revolves around the story of Dan Kuso, whose ordinary life changed when he grabbed a card from the sky when it was raining cards.

These are not ordinary playing cards; they have immense supernatural abilities. They have the power to summon powerful creatures from another realm.

This card game has become extremely popular among all children worldwide, and with this in mind, our MC, Dan, established a team with his pals to conquer the game’s leaderboard.

4. Hunter x Hunter: Green Island

I’m sure that many of you have seen Hunter x Hunter, but I’m not sure whether you’re aware of this short season of HxH. This season focuses mainly on the dynamic duo of HxH, Killua and Gon, and their incredible adventures.

Gon and Killua are solely interested in one thing: obtaining a unique game known as Green Island. Furthermore, they are trying to get this game for the second time after failing the first time horribly.

Keeping this in mind, our MC Gon has devised a strategy to obtain it, which I will not reveal since I don’t want to spoil anything for you. I strongly recommend you to watch this anime since it has a great plot and, most importantly, it is kids-friendly.

3. Kakegurui

On number 3, we have Kakegurui—another anime that portrays how bad gambling is. There are many different types of gambling, and after watching this anime, you’ll be introduced to an entirely new world of gambling.

Kakegurui revolves around the story of Hyakkaou Private Academy, where the children of the elite class study. As many of the students are the kids of the world’s wealthiest individuals, the institution has the features that set it apart from the others.

During the day, it functions as a regular school where teachers are used to teach different subjects and languages to students.

However, at night, it transforms into a casino, where the students are taught the art of gambling and manipulating. Can Yumeko Jabami, the anime’s protagonist, put a stop to this madness? Watch the anime to find out.

2. Duel Masters

On number two, we have Duel Masters—my favorite card game anime…(I used to have a lot of Duel Masters cards as a kid). The plot centers around Shobu Kirifuda, a young passionate child who shines in card games.

His primary goal is to become a world-class Duel Master like his father, and to do so, he must overcome many obstacles. Can he make his desire come true? You can only discover it by viewing it, so start watching this incredible masterpiece right now.

1. Yu-Gi-oh!

Yu-Gi-oh! is regarded as the pioneer of the anime card game genre. It tells the story of Yugi Muto, a simple guy bullied at school by his classmates. His life was drastically altered when he solved a puzzle that no one had been able to solve for more than 150 years.

Because of that puzzle, Yugi can now change into a badass warrior named Yami that can teach his bullies a lesson and do whatever it takes to help his pals when they are in danger.
