1. Initial D First Stage

Initial D First Stage is the first season of the series and it first came out in April 1998 with a total of 26 episodes. The story introduces us to Takumi Fujiwara who is the son of a Tofu shop owner. He drives every morning in order to deliver Tofu and is not particularly interested in cars. However, his friends are very interested in the concept of cars and racing.
One day, The Red Suns, who are street racers, decide to challenge the passersby that pass along the mountains of Akina. Now, the main motive of The Red Suns was that they wanted to become the best racers in Kanto, not letting anyone surpass them. However, their confidence is shattered when one of the aces of The Red Suns is outstripped by a mysterious driver driving an old Toyota AE86. The Red Suns must be careful of the mysterious driver and must defeat him if they want to be the best in Kanto. That mysterious driver is no other than our own, Takumi Fujiwara.
2. Initial D Second Stage

Initial D Second Stage is the second season of the series and it came out in October 1999 with a total of 13 episodes. It shows us Takumi Fujiwara who is basking in glory as he has been showing off his car racing skills and making people admire him. However, the attention he was getting was temporary as all of it is directed towards a new group of racers who have really durable cars known as Lans Evos.
Now, the leader of that new group didn’t like how Takumi used an old car for racing which was not made for these purposes and considered him inferior to him. However, Takumi doesn’t care about his remarks and is adamant about defeating him in order to prove that it’s only skills that are the most important.
3. Initial D Extra Stage

Initial D Extra Stage is an OVA of this anime series that came out in March 2001. It featured 2 episodes named Act 1 and Act 2 respectively.
In Act 1, we’re introduced to Mako Satou who had a blue Nissan Sileighty and her navigator, Sayuki. The boys with the Lans Evos come across the girls who challenge them immediately in order to defend their title. However, Mako has noticed something in her driving and is concerned about it. Will she be able to defeat the boys despite feeling her rhythm off?
In Act 2, we see Sayuki setting Mako up with a guy named Miyahara. Miyahara belonged to a group named Myogi Nightkids. Will Mako be able to create a balance between her love life and her professional life?
4. Initial D Fourth Stage

Initial D Fourth Stage is the fourth season of the series and it came out in April 2004 with a total of 24 episodes. Takumi is ready to team up with the aces of The Red Suns, Ryosuke and Keisuke Takahashi to create “Project D”. They want to challenge more racers from different regions in order to defend their name. A website is made by Ryosuke in order to keep the racers updated with everything.
5. Initial D Extra Stage 2

Initial D Extra Stage is the second OVA of the series that came out in October 2003 with a single episode. It tells us about how Mako Satou wants to create her name in the world of racing again. She’s all pumped up until she comes across her former boyfriend, making her melt again. Will she be able to keep her resolve or waver in front of her ex-lover?
6. Initial D Fifth Stage

Initial D Fifth Stage is the fifth season of the series and came out in November 2012 with a total of 14 episodes. Takumi, Ryosuke and Keisuke have gained a big reputation in different regions by showing off their exceptional racing skills. Now, they want to move forward and be the best in Kanagawa Prefecture.
They come across the best teams of Kanagawa who came up with the strategy called “Four Lines of Defense” to take down Project D. Will Project D be able to win from the calculated street racers from Kanagawa Prefecture?
7. Initial D Final Stage

Initial D Final Stage is the final season of the series and it came out in May 2014 with a total of 4 episodes. We’re shown the final race between the street racing team of Kanagawa Prefecture and Project D. Takumi is racing against a high school boy named Shinji Inui who is only 17 years old. What Takumi finds shocking is that Inui has the same car as Takumi, a Toyota AE86.
Inui was not interested in taking part in the race but after watching the heart racing match between Project D’s Keisuke and Gou Houjou, he gets all pumped up and excited. Shinji has amazing skills and he might surpass the great Takumi.
