RELEASE DATE

On December 14, 2020, it was announced for the first time that the amazing manga “Chainsaw Man” will be adapted into an anime under the production of MAPPA at JumpFesta’21. The platform used to make this announcement was Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine via its second 2021 issue. There was also a little stage presentation for the fans to watch online on December 19-20.
The anime series is expected to be premier in 2022 and all the fans are desperately waiting for it! Although it’s only fan’s guessing that the series will be released this year, there is no official confirmation. It can be released somewhere in the autumn 2022 to winter 2023!
This supernatural, somewhat weird but filled with absolute horror scenes manga was expected to release in the fall of 2021 but so far we have got it’s trailer released by the Japanese animation studio on the date, June 27,2021.
The second trailer was released at the end of the year, in December 2021 and it was confirmed around that time that the anime will come out in 2021 and fans have been desperately waiting for it.
PREDICTED PLOT
The plot of this manga is based on a very unique but interesting concept that human fears are no less than monsters. A lot of us suffer from overthinking and it’s more harmful and destructive than any other attack done by outsiders.
The plot of this manga portrayed the concept in the form of actual devils, merciless and hostile, beings formed by fears of humans and then there exists devil hunters who have the duty of taking the devils down.
The manga involves the concept of earth and hell, earth being the residential area for humans and hell is where the devils reside.
The devil that is killed in hell will get to travel to earth, but there are some devils called Primal Fears, who have never been taken down in hell and have the ultimate strength. As you can already tell by reading so far, it is not a series for weak hearted people as the manga contain violent scenes, dark humor and much more!
The story is much more than that. It actually revolves around a boy named Denji, who has Pochita along his side, a devil. Pochita is the chainsaw devil and helps Denji in his job as a devil hunter because he needs to pay off his dad’s debt to a yakuza, who, by the way, betrays him and after using him, gets rid of him.
Denji makes a contract with the devil Pochita and gets rid of the yakuza. The story moves forward in a complicated yet interesting way.
WHAT IS CHAINSAW MAN
The Japanese manga released its first chapter in December 2018 and continued for two years until it’s last chapter came out in December 2020. If we talk about how much content fans got out of this manga, it contains in total 11 tankobon volumes. Tankobon is an old japanese term and in modern japanese, it is used to refer to the individual volumes of a manga series.
This shonen manga won the 66th Shogakukan Manga award as well as the Harvey award for being the best manga of the year. This explains its adaptation to anime and the fans’ crazy obsession over it, right?
By August 2020, more than 3 million copies were sold and the number increased to 4.2 million by October. The number kept increasing and increasing until it reached almost 12 million copies by December 2021! How outstanding is that?
I mean there is a reason why the manga “Chainsaw Man” was the best selling manga in the early half of year 2021 and on top of that, the manga also made it to the New York’s graphics book and manga best seller
CRITICISM
The more something gets famous, the more hate it will get from the haters who are simply jealous of its success or maybe they think that the thing is being ‘Overrated”. Well It’s definitely not true for the Chainsaw Man. The manga deserved all the hype that was being given to it.
You must have heard about the great series, “Harry Potter”. Even though it got a lot of rejection and discouragement in the start, later it turned out to be one of the most iconic series. There is no doubt in the eminence of Chainsaw Man, however in the beginning, James Beckett from the Anime news network commented on the first volume of the manga and gave it merely a B grade.
He commented on the manga, saying its goofy, clunky, dark, and bizarre, hinting towards the fact that it will attract low or immature audiences only. It was also said that it’s dark sense of humour and the violent scenes will put off the readers and make it less appealing for the fans. Little did he know, we are ready for everything!
The manga was criticised in different ways and on different points. However, will the anime adaptation of the manga be good enough to make all fans satisfied? We can only know about it when it will be released!
