11+ Anime Where The MC Gets Rejected By A Girl

Love is in the air… well, for most at least. There are also people who get the chance to confess to their significant other and get flatout rejected on the spot. Whether this happens early on, when they barely know each other and was just a love at first sight kind of thing, or later on, deep into their relationship, when you take your chances in your own hands; it still hurts.

I’m sure we all went through this kind of unfortunate event at least once in our life, but the same also goes for anime characters. In today’s list, we’ll take a look at anime series, and movies where the main character gets rejected.

So, let’s buckle up because this will be a rough ride for sure. Just a warning, SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

This anime in particular speaks of interesting topics about teenagers. What is mostly referred to during the story as Adolescent Syndrome causes 16-18 year olds to have a strange complex and they show interesting, if not creepy symptoms because of it at times.

Sakuta, our main character, seems to be the only one who can help these people, beautiful girls in particular, and despite being seemingly uninterested, or just doing it out of boredom at first, he ultimately manages to save the girls from their syndrome.

The titular bunny girl, Mai Sakurajima is probably the most interesting case. People seem to forget about her, and over time, seem to be unable to see her anymore. Sakuta is the only one who does, and he decides to help her.

While in the process of helping Mai, Sakuta grew fond of her and started developing romantic feelings. He tried to convey it several times through hiding it behind his humor, however, every time he do so, Mai kept rejecting him as a joke—just like how he lowkey confesses in a joking manner. Ah! We stan a queen that knows how to reciprocate humor.

Kuromukuro is essentially a mecha anime, and one of the most awesome ones too. The two main characters, Kennousuke and Yukina however don’t start off on the best of terms. They go from unwilling partners to forced partners, friends based on mutual respect, real partners, unrequited and mutual love interests.

But then, there was a point when Kennousuke, in the heat of the moment, basically proposed marriage to Yukina, and her reaction was to immediately reject him. Of course this rejection wasn’t really anything serious, however, it still was a key moment in the story.

Tamako Kitashirakawa is a cute little high school girl whose entire life is all about her friends, mochi and being a majorette and practising all day if possible. However, she is completely ignorant to her best friend, Ouji’s feelings for her.

Ouji is actually a handsome young man, and her best friend since childhood. Tamako, though, doesn’t seem to recognise his feelings until he tells her straight.

Of course, unable to face her own feelings, Tamako turns him down, but later on, they end up finally acknowledging their feelings for each other and their happy ending was then guaranteed.

Kinoshita Kazuya is one unlucky guy. Not only is he a weird and awkward guy, he tends to be overly attached to his girlfriends. Sometimes this leads to unfortunate situations, and one such situation ends with his girlfriend, Mami, breaking up with him.

In desperation, he resorts to a dating app that allows him to literally rent a girlfriend, and thanks to this, he meets quite a few interesting girls, who ultimately become strongly attached to him

However, the one he becomes most involved with is Chizuru, the first rental girlfriend he had, and clearly she isn’t completely neutral towards him. However, when he tries to approach her with his true feelings, he is once again, although indirectly, rejected.

Ed and Vinry have been two real love birds since their childhood. On one occasion, Ed and his brother, Al, even get into an argument over which one of them deserves her best

The funny thing about this is that Ed has been in love with Vinry for the longest time, and even risks confessing to her. Vinry though, even if just jokingly, turns him down because as she claims, she’d never date someone who is shorter than her.

Now, you may not think much about this, but here’s the catch. Ed is very sensitive about his height and people do tend to piss him off the most with comments on it. This coming from Vinry of all people, must have hurt horribly.

Aoi Tsubaki is both lucky and unlucky in a sense. She was blessed with the ability to not only see supernatural beings, but also be able to communicate with them. She inherited this ability from her grandfather.

Her grandfather however has passed away, and she lives a peaceful life, tending to the small, and usually helpless spirits from the spirit realm, known as Kakuriyo. However, one day she meets an Oni, a powerful godlike demonic being, who asks her to marry him.

Aoi’s first reaction is instinctively rejecting him, but she does accept the invitation to the Kakuriyo, and here she meets numerous interesting and odd characters, makes friends, and even finds out about the secrets of her past

Add that and the fact that she and Oodanna-sama get closer and closer to each other, and you get a lovely beautiful story.

Hazumu has been in love with one of the most beautiful girls in school, Yasuna, who is tending to the flower garden of their school. The two of them share a lot in common, and Hazumu thought he had a chance with her. Sadly, that wasn’t the case, and he was turned down without a second thought.

Heartbroken and desperate, Hazumu leaves home and heads up the mountain where he met Yasuna for the first time. Upon reaching the peak, he got involved in a fatal and silly accident—he was hit by a spaceship. The alien who accidentally killed him, resurrects Hazumu, but as a girl.

While the story is heartwarming and incredibly strong, Hazumu’s character as a girl is even more innocent and unfortunate than when she was as a boy. The story is littered with typical Japanese humour which also helps relieve the stress in the story that is caused by the drama going on. Hazumu is torn between a number of girls, but only two of them are close enough to her, and she has to make a choice.

Masamune Makabe is a perfectionist, and an egotist. He lives only to flatter himself, and is so perfect in any way possible, that he shouldn’t even be alive. But this has its reasons.

When he was a kid, he was chubby and was often made fun of for that. He only had one real friend and childhood love interest, Aki, who not only rejected him horribly when he tried to approach her with his heartfelt childhood feelings, but also called him a fat pig.

Aki long regretted that since then, but Masamune isn’t easy to forget such an offence, and plots revenge, despite hopelessly falling in love with Aki all over again.

The story of this incredibly beautiful anime marvel focuses on the honest and heartfelt love. Tsukasa falls in love with a girl at first sight, and he doesn’t even know who she actually is.

Tsukasa is a drop out after failing his university entry exam. He joins SAI Corporation’s Terminal Service who work retiring Giftia, perfectly human like androids, whose lifespan has expired. He gets paired with a veteran Giftia, Isla, who is at the end of her lifespan. And wouldn’t you know it, she’s the girl Tsukasa fell in love with.

When Tsukasa and Isla slowly start growing closer together, he finally finds the courage and strength to confess his feelings to Isla, who in a shock and panic, rejects him without even thinking.

Even though we later on find out the reasons behind this rejection, it’s still heartbreaking to Tsukasa and shocking to those who were supporting and shipping them since day one.

At the start of the series, Taiga and Ryuji are more like enemies than anything else. The fact that they fell in love with each other’s best friend is what actually brings them together. They join forces to help conquer the other’s love interest, but in the end, they both get rejected.

On the bright side of it, they ultimately end up becoming a love couple themselves, and the failure with their original love helps them form a bond they never expected before that.

Our main character, Yoshida, is actually quite a handsome young man. For his job as a programmer, and for his situation in life, he’s actually a lucky guy. He’s surrounded by beautiful women, and if not, he seems to run into them by chance.

On the night of his big day, confessing to the love of his life, his boss, he is of course rejected, and drinks himself into forgetting his misfortune. On his way home he meets a high school girl who came from really far away, and needs a home. This is how the roller coaster begins.

There isn’t just one character rejected in this series. Sayu, our main heroine, said High school girl is rejected more than a few times by Yoshida, who views her as no more than just a kid, and takes care of her, despite not being related to her.

There’s also Mishima, a beautiful and dedicated colleague, who starts off as a slacker at work, but ultimately gets really close to Yoshida, and even confesses her feelings for him, only to be tearfully rejected.

Then finally there’s Gotou Airi, Yoshida’s love interest. Despite the shaky beginning, and the rejection, Sayu’s presence helps them both become closer overtime. And who knows, they might end up getting together after all.

In other words, this has the most complex story and character situation to it, and therefore on all fronts deserves the top spot on this list.

Have you ever had your heart broken before?

Rascal does not dream of Bunny Girl Senpai

Welp! Heartbreaks sure are painful, but hey, it’s natural. Everything’s gonna be okay. Stop pushing yourself to people who are fated to another.

So yeah! That’s pretty much it. Which of these anime was your favourite? Are there any you didn’t even know of? Do you guys know any other anime we missed? If you do, let us know in the comments!
