Some of you might not have heard of this series and don’t understand what the initial hype is about. But let’s just say, it’ll literally blow your socks off with its fresh twist into the spy-fiction genre. The Manga already has a huge following and it might become the next Horimiya if the other series don’t watch their backs.
Spy X Family is an amazing mix of action, comedy, and that sweet sweet romance! It’s like James Bond mixed with Kaguya-sama: Love is War. There isn’t anything like it. It’s unique, crazy, and just a whole lotta fun. And you know what’s better? IT’S FINALLY GETTING AN ANIME ADAPTATION IN 2022! YESSSS!!!!

RELEASE DATE
Let’s start with the most important piece of information. Like every good recipe, we gotta start with the foundation, the Release Date!
A year before in November, it was revealed that we would have an anime adaptation for Spy X Family in 2022 but there were no specifics. But it didn’t take long tho! Good thing I went to their studio and forced them to reveal the official release date. Praise me, I am a genius!
Kidding aside, it was revealed in Jump Festa 2022 that the anime adaptation for Spy X Family would be released in the Spring season of anime in 2022. More specifically, April! There was no exact day of its release but hey, at least we got the month. That’s a win for me.
It was even reported that Crunchyroll would be taking the lead in streaming Spy X Family but maybe Funimation would get in on the fun as well. You know it’s gonna be good if the two giants are noticing the anime.
PREDICTED CAST
This one would be the most exciting part of the anime adaptation, well, apart from the adaptation itself. Spy X Family didn’t only manage to rile up one fandom, but also managed to make the Oregairu or My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU fanbase scream their hearts out!
The main cast will include:

- The Thorn Princess or Yor Forger voiced by Saori Hayami
- Anya Forger voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki
Takuya Eguchi and Saori Hayami were also partners in the Main Cast of My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU as Hikigaya Hachiman and Yukino Yukinoshita respectively. The couple is back again and the Oregairu fan base may be small, but they’re screaming like Goku chanting his Kamehameha!
Takuya Eguchi
Takuya Eguchi is a well known name in the anime voice-acting industry. He has had several other significant main and minor roles throughout his Seiyuu career.
Takuya Eguchi’s other roles include Hikigaya Hachiman (My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU) which is probably his most famous one, Soeui (That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime), Shuji Hanma (Tokyo Revengers), Domas (Ousama Ranking), and Akihiko Kaji (Given) among others.
In Spy X Family, he will voice the legendary Twilight under the name Lloyd Forger. Expect to see some cool and collected lines which he is proudly known for.
Saori Hayami
Another popular Seiyuu would be Saori Hayami. Just like Takuya, Saori Hayami has a lot of popular names under her belt and they make the perfect power couple in any anime. If you’re cultured, you might know that Saori has voiced some popular waifus in the industry!
Saori Hayami’s other roles include Touko Sakurai (My Senpai is Annoying), Anju Emma (86), Shinobo Kochou (Demon Slayer Series), her most popular one is Yukino Yukinoshita (My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU), Fubuki (One Punch Man), Yumeko Jabami (Kakegurui), and a loooot more!
You know this show’s gonna be good if they pulled in some major players in the voice-acting industry. Saori has this cool and soft voice but she can also turn into one heck of a monster when the scenes become intense. She really fits Yor Forger.
Atsumi Tanezaki
While Takuya Eguchi and Saori Hayami got a lot of attention when it was announced that they were going to have the main roles, Atsumi Tanezaki didn’t get a lot of gossip. But you know, the quiet ones are the most dangerous, and I think that would be Atsumi-san herself.
Just like the other two, Atsumi Tanezaki is a beast in the Seiyuu world! Her roles include Sajuna Inui (My Dress Up Darling), Hinatsuru (Demon Slayer: Entertainment District Arc), Emporio Alnino (Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures Part 6: Stone Ocean), Vivy (Vivy: Flourite Eye’s Song), Rio Futaba (Rascal Does Not Dream Of Bunny Girl Senpai), and countless others.
This time, we get to see her cute and might I say, stupid side in Anya Forger. Anya is well, just gonna be honest here, an idiot. So let’s expect some funny scenes nailed by Atsumi-san.
PREDICTED PLOT
Well, well, well. Now that we have our voice actors and our release dates, you might be curious about what exactly is the plot of this anime. Don’t worry my beautiful weeb as I have gathered every single speck of information and even read the manga itself to give you one of the most detailed plot outlines in history! Let’s gooooooo!
In the midst of a Cold War between the East and the West, both sides are using spies and the likes to edge the world closer to peace but at the same time, their efforts might result in an all-out war. In this world, we are introduced to a legendary Western Spy codenamed Twilight. No one knows his name and those that have seen his face didn’t survive to tell the tale.
As the scales of the world are leaning into war, Twilight was sent on a mission to investigate and stop an Eastern political figure in the country of Ostania named Donovan Desmond. But the only way to get in touch with this man is by getting through a school named Eden Academy, the most prestigious school in Ostania. But how will Twilight achieve this as that school is for middle schoolers? Well, he probably has the hardest mission of his life in front of him.
MAKE A FAMILY!!!!!
I know, that sounds absurd. Being the cool guy that he is, he adopts the name Loid Forger and goes to an orphanage adopting a young girl with pink hair named Anya. But something about Anya was off, was it her hair? How it seems like she knows what you’re thinking? NO, ANYA WAS A PSYCHIC! But she hid her identity from Lloyd in the fear that she might get thrown away because she was actually an idiot. I must admit, that’s how we idiots survive, by pretending we aren’t one.
Now that he suddenly has a kid, he has the most arduous task known to mankind, getting married! Now this one hasn’t even been achieved by most of you reading this (I feel you). However, Lloyd isn’t the only agent in Ostania. We suddenly meet one of the deadliest assassins in this era, the Thorn Princess, Yor. The two cross paths together and they suddenly get married??!! They’re each other’s perfect cover, I guess.
We now have a spy, a killer, and a psychic but when will they know each other’s true pasts? Well, Anya already knows that Lloyd is a Spy and Yor is the Thorn Princess but remember, she’s an idiot. She doesn’t get scared but gets super hyped up that her family is super cool! Anya keeps everything she knows a secret to keep this makeshift family together.
The Forgers are now assembled! An unlikely trio of an Overthinking Spy, an Assassin who’s surprisingly a Good House Wife, and a Psychic who’s truly just an idiot. The state of the world rests on this misfit family. Will the world end? Or will the Forger’s be revealed? You can only find out by watching SPY X FAMILY!

Those are the different posts that are relevant to the release of Spy X Family. The official site and the Twitter are in Japanese but nothing a little google translate can’t fix. There have been several previews and trailers released and they’re all available on the internet as well!
We also have news that it will be animated by the collaboration of WIT STUDIO and Cloverworks studio. So expect amazing animation in this series. WIT was responsible for the amazing animation of the first three seasons of Attack on Titan and oh my…from the trailer I was getting goosebumps at that oh so crisp animation! Cloverworks is no joke either as they are responsible for animating shows like Horimiya, Darling in the Franxx, The Promised Neverland, and Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai!
It looks like WIT will handle the action, and Cloverworks will be the one to lead the slice of life and romance aspects of the show!
